Software engineering database programming control system based on embedded system

Abstract To improve the programming efficiency of a software database, this paper analyzes the possibility of running an embedded system in a software engineering database by constructing an embedded software data programming control system with the help of an independent time step algorithm and main function. By analyzing and calculating the format of DXF files and commonly used group code values, the format of file storage and the method of expressing data in the graphical element processing module are summarized to ensure the accuracy of software processing and the stability of the software processing process. According to the laws summarized in the analysis, the necessity of introducing an embedded system in the software data programming control process was proposed and simulated, and tested. In the test process, we focus on the process time consumption, space resource occupation rate, running accuracy, and step length data. The test results show that the maximum programming process time of the embedded software data programming control system is only 4.5s, the minimum software space resource occupation rate is 19.7%, the highest operation accuracy is 98.9%, and the calculation time per step is about 0.002s, which is significantly better than the programming system based on remote wireless synchronization system and the computer software programming system based on C language technology. The data calculation results of the independent time step algorithm and the main function prove the feasibility of introducing embedded systems in the software programming process and improving the reusability of software programming code for embedded systems.

An Analysis of Data Mining Techniques in Software Engineering Database Design

With the advent of Internet information technology, data mining technology has been applied in various fields of China's social and industrial development, and has promoted the quality development of the industry [1]. Nowadays, people are widely influenced by Internet computer technology, and the application of computer technology has been indispensable in life, work and study. At the same time, data mining technology arises from Internet communication technology and is used as an important technical means of operation and development by various industries, especially the application of data mining technology in university software engineering teaching is becoming more and more widespread, but there are still many unavoidable problems that require scholars to pay more attention. The article analyzes and discusses the significance of applying data mining technology in software engineering [2], and on this basis, the application path of data mining technology in software engineering database design is proposed, including: mining information, mining loopholes, mining execution records and open source. It is hoped that relevant technology users can efficiently apply data mining technology to make software engineering It is more reasonable and efficient, so that software engineering can be further developed. This paper presents the implementation and performance analysis of the teacher management decision-making system based on data mining, and introduces the implementation process of the system in detail.

Developing Mobile Applications Via Model Driven Development: A Systematic Literature Review

Mobile applications (known as “apps”) usage continues to rapidly increase, with many new apps being developed and deployed. However, developing a mobile app is challenging due to its dependencies on devices, technologies, platforms, and deadlines to reach the market. One potential approach is to use Model Driven Development (MDD) techniques that simplify the app development process, reduce complexity, increase abstraction level, help achieve scalable solutions and maximize cost-effectiveness and productivity. This paper systematically investigates what MDD techniques and methodologies have been used to date to support mobile app development and how these techniques have been employed, to identify key benefits, limitations, gaps and future research potential. A Systematic Literature Review approach was used for this study based on a formal protocol. The rigorous search protocol identified a total of 1,042 peer-reviewed academic research papers from four major software engineering databases. These papers were subsequently filtered, and 55 high quality relevant studies were selected for analysis, synthesis, and reporting. We identified the popularity of different applied MDD approaches, supporting tools, artifacts, and evaluation techniques. Our analysis found that architecture, domain model, and code generation are the most crucial purposes in MDD-based app development. Three qualities – productivity, scalability and reliability – can benefit from these modeling strategies. We then summarize the key collective strengths, limitations, gaps from the studies and made several future recommendations. There has been a steady interest in MDD approaches applied to mobile app development over the years. This paper guides future researchers, developers, and stakeholders to improve app development techniques, ultimately that will help end-users in having more effective apps, especially when some recommendations are addressed, e.g., taking into account more human-centric aspects in app development.

A Secure Healthcare System: From Design to Implementation

Abstract We introduce the design and development of a comprehensive electronic health record system (EHR) that incorporates AES encryption to assure security. Our work adopts a didactic approach to introduce the formal design steps of an EHR with its underlying database from a software engineering perspective. For this, we adopt two formal development methodologies as software engineering perspective and database development approach and combine the two to present a guideline to design and develop similar projects in other domains. For informative purposes, the steps of the development process are formalized based on database ER-model, and the final design is normalized into 3NF. We provide insight on rationale for employing specific methodologies, and using particular material and tools.

Research and Development on Food Nutrition Statistical Analysis Software System

Designing and developing a set of food nutrition component statistical analysis software can realize the automation of nutrition calculation, improve the nutrition processional professional's working efficiency and achieve the informatization of the nutrition propaganda and education. In the software development process, the software engineering method and database technology are used to calculate the human daily nutritional intake and the intelligent system is used to evaluate the user's health condition. The experiment can show that the system can correctly evaluate the human health condition and offer the reasonable suggestion, thus exploring a new road to solve the complex nutrition computational problem with information engineering.

A Federated Search Approach to Facilitate Systematic Literature Review in Software Engineering

To impact industry, researchers developing technolo gies in academia need to provide tangible evidence of the advantages of using them. Nowadays, Systematic Literature Review (SLR) has become a prominent methodology in evidence-based researches. Although adopting SLR in software engineering does not go fa r in practice, it has been resulted in valuable resea rches and is going to be more common. However, digi tal libraries and scientific databases as the best rese arch resources do not provide enough mechanism for SLRs especially in software engineering. On the oth er hand, any loss of data may change the SLR result s and leads to research bias. Accordingly, the search process and evidence collection in SLR is a critic al point. This paper provides some tips to enhance the SLR process. The main contribution of this work is presenting a federated search tool which provides a n automatic integrated search mechanism in wellknown Software Engineering databases. Results of ca se study show that this approach not only reduces required time to do SLR and facilitate its search p rocess, but also improves its reliability and resul ts in the increasing trend to use SLRs.

Data management for component-based embedded real-time systems: The database proxy approach

We introduce the concept of database proxies intended to mitigate the gap between two disjoint productivity-enhancing techniques: component based software engineering (CBSE) and real-time database management systems (RTDBMS). The two techniques promote opposing design goals and their coexistence is neither obvious nor intuitive. CBSE promotes encapsulation and decoupling of component internals from the component environment, whilst an RTDBMS provide mechanisms for efficient and predictable global data sharing. A component with direct access to an RTDBMS is dependent on that specific RTDBMS and may not be useable in an alternative environment. For components to remain encapsulated and reusable, database proxies decouple components from an underlying database residing in the component framework, while providing temporally predictable access to data maintained in a database. Our approach provide access to features such as extensive data modeling tools, predictable access to hard real-time data, dynamic access to soft real-time data using standardized queries and controlled data sharing; thus allowing developers to employ the full potential of both CBSE and an RTDBMS. Our approach primarily targets embedded systems with a subset of functionality with real-time requirements. The implementation results show that the benefits of using proxies do not come at the expense of significant run-time overheads or less accurate timing predictions.

Grey prediction based software stage-effort estimation

The software stage-effort estimation can be used to dynamically adjust software project schedule, further to help make the project finished on budget. This paper presents a grey model Verhulst based method for stage-effort estimation during software development process, a bias correction technology was used to improve the estimation accuracy. The proposed method was evaluated with a large-scale industrial software engineering database. The results are very encouraging and indicate the method has considerable potential.

Object configurations in software engineering databases

We consider the logical organization of database support for software engineering applications, which has to cope with such requirements as the adequate support of object composition and versioning, the derivation of (consistent) configurations, and the provision of application-specific transactions. A new approach to the organization, manipulation and management of multiversion objects in CASE databases is described and investigated, which clearly distinguishes four relevant concepts: documents, versions, configurations and databases. The approach is formally made precise using the concept ofAND/OR graphs, which renders it possible to cast operations on any of the concepts in terms of graph operations. The levels of abstraction distinguished and maintained throughout the exposition give rise to an appropriate transaction concept: transactions involve graph operations on specific types of objects only; conflicts between transactions can thus be easily identified, and consistency of objects is easily maintained.

Data and knowledge base research at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) is the leading Technical University in Greece. The Computer Science Division of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department covers several fields of practical, theoretical and technical computer science and is involved in several research projects supported by the EEC, the government and industrial companies. The Knowledge and Data Base Systems (KDBS) Laboratory was established in 1992 at the National Technical University of Athens. It is recognised internationally, evidenced by its participation as a central node in the Esprit Network of Excellence IDOMENEUS. The Information and Data on Open MEdia for NEtworks of USers, project aims to coordinate and improve European efforts in the development of next-generation information environments which will be capable of maintaining and communicating a largely extended class of information in an open set of media. The KDBS Laboratory employs one full-time research engineer and several graduate students. Its infrastructure includes a LAN with several DECstation 5000/200 and 5000/240 workstations, an HP Multimedia Workstation, several PCs and software for database and multimedia applications. The basic research interests of our Laboratory include: Spatial Database Systems, Multimedia Database Systems and Active Database Systems . Apart from the above database areas, interests of the KDBS Laboratory span several areas of Information Systems, such as Software Engineering Databases, Transactional Systems, Image Databases, Conceptual Modeling, Information System Development, Temporal Databases, Advanced Query Processing and Optimization Techniques. The group's efforts on Spatial Database Systems, include the study of new data structures, storage techniques, retrieval mechanisms and user interfaces for large geographic data bases. In particular, we look at specialized, spatial data structures (R-Trees and their variations) which allow for the direct access of the data based on their spatial properties, and not some sort of encoded representation of the objects' coordinates. We study implementation and optimization techniques of spatial data structures and develop models that make performance estimation. Finally, we are investigating techniques for the efficient representation of relationships and reasoning in space. The activities on Multimedia Database Systems, include the study of advanced data models, storage techniques, retrieval mechanisms and user interfaces for large multimedia data bases. The data models under study include the object-oriented model and the relational model with appropriate extensions to support multimedia data. We are also investigating content-based search techniques for image data bases. In a different direction, we are studying issues involved in the development of multimedia front-ends for conventional, relational data base systems. In the area of Active Database Systems, we are developing new mechanisms for implementing triggers in relational databases. Among the issues involved, we address the problem of efficiently finding qualifying rules against updates in large sets of triggers. This problem is especially critical in database system implementations of triggers, where large amounts of data may have to be searched in order to find out if a particular trigger may qualify to run or not. Continuing work that started at the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH), Institute of Computer Science, the group is investigating reuse-oriented approaches to information systems application development. The approaches are based on a repository that has been implemented at FORTH as a special purpose object store, with emphasis on multimodal and fast retrieval. Issues of relating and describing software artifacts (designs, code, etc.) are among the topics under investigation. A new important research direction of the group is on Data Warehouses, which are seen as collections of materialized views captured over a period of time from a heterogeneous distributed information system. Issues such as consistent updates, data warehouse evolution, view reconciliation and data quality are being investigated. Research in Image Databases deals with the retrieval by image content, that uses techniques from the area of Image Processing. We are currently at early stage in this direction, having collected many segmentation and edge detection algorithms, which will be used and evaluated in images of various contents. Our work on Advanced Query Processing and Optimization Techniques includes dynamic or parametric query optimization techniques. In most database systems, the values of many important runtime parameters of the system, the data, or the query are unknown at query optimization time. Dynamic, or parametric, query optimization attempts to identify several execution plans, each one of which is optimal for a subset of all possible values of the run time parameters. In the next sections we present in detail our research efforts on the three main research areas of the KDBS Laboratory: Spatial, Multimedia and Active Databases.

Major issues on process software engineering environments

This paper discusses the evolution of “programming in the large” environments and presents major innovations in software product structuring, configuration management, and software process integration. The main evolutions that are highlighted show the efforts toward integration, generalization, and modelization in order to achieve a formal description of the software process. We analyze current tendencies from the point of view of both support for resource management and software process. Focussing on the product we illustrate, using examples, the main efforts required to manage the resources involved in a software process. We show the earliest efforts to produce formal representations, applying data modeling concepts to integrate version and configuration management systems using software engineering databases. Turning to the process side of the question, we highlight recent work developing formal method to describe the process model. We conclude by presenting the Adele project, a process software engineering environment (PSEE) that achieves combined resources management (description of resources and product to be consumed and produced by the execution of activities and software process).

Gras, a graph-oriented (software) engineering database system

Modern software systems for application areas such as software engineering, CAD, or office automation are usually highly interactive and deal with rather complex object structures. For the realization of these systems a nonstandard database system is needed which is able to efficiently handle different types of coarse- and fine-grained objects (like documents and paragraphs), hierarchical and non-hierarchical relations between objects (like composition-links and cross-references), and finally attributes of rather different size (like chapter numbers and bitmaps). Furthermore, this database system should support incremental computation of derived data, undo/redo of data modifications, error recovery from system crashes, and version control mechanisms. In this paper, we describe the underlying data model and the functionality of GRAS, a database system which has been designed according to the requirements mentioned above. Furthermore, we motivate our central design decisions concerning its realization, and report on experiences and applications.

A software engineering environment driven by event-condition-action rules and its trigger mechanism

Recently, PSEEs (Process-Centred Software Engineering Environments) have been investigated as a new architecture of SEEs in which the software processes are explicitly described and drive the user interactions. A typical PSEE is composed of two components: a resource manager and a process manager. The resource manager is responsible for the management and control of all objects manipulated during the software processes. The process manager is the component supporting an explicit formalism to describe software processes. ADELE/TEMPO is a sample of this new tendency. This paper presents the main components of the kernel of the ADELE/ TEMPO system, i.e. its resource manager and process manager. Special attention is given to how these different basic components are integrated into a platform where software process models can be explicitly described by event-condition-action rules (E-C-A) and supported by an active software engineering database.

Supporting Software Development Processes in Adele 2

After years using of Adele, a configuration management system, it became apparent that it lacks activity-related concepts and mechanisms like work environment control, user coordination and synchronization, method and tool control, etc. It was also clear that considerable work is required to adapt a Software Engineering Environment (SEE) to user requirements. Using this experience, Adele 2 has beeen implemented to provide a general support for defining and managing dynamic aspects of a SEE and facilitate the building of new SEEs. This paper describes, using an example (work space control), the concepts and mechanisms involved. We show how close integration of an activity manager with a software engineering database fulfills the basic requirements and how a high level task manager coupled to a configuration manager can be developed.

Techniques for process model evolution in EPOS

The authors categorize some aspects of software process evolution and customization, and describe how they are handled in the EPOS PM system. Comparisons are made to other PM systems. A process model in EPOS consists of a schema of classes and meta-classes, and its model entities and relationships. There is an underlying software engineering database, EPOSDB, offering uniform versioning of all model parts and a context of nested cooperating transactions. Then, there is a reflective object-oriented process specification language, on top of the EPOSDB. Policies for model creation, composition, change, instantiation, refinement, and enaction are explicitly represented and are used by a set of PM automatic tools. The main tools are a planner to instantiate tasks, an execution manager to enact such tasks, and a PM manager to define, analyze, customize, and evolve the process schema.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">&gt;</ETX>

The GRASPIN data base

In this paper we present the design principles and architecture of the GRASPIN DB, which is the Software Engineering Data base (SEDB) of the GRASPIN environment. The GRASPIN DB supports syntax-directed handling of data of quite diverse complexity and structure. Such data are programs in conventional and graphical languages and semantic information about them. In order to represent this variety of information in an integrated way, we have developed an object-oriented data model for the data base. Further-more, this model provided the basis to build a uniform interaction mechanism between the data base and the rest of the environment.

A query service for a software engineering database system

The PCTE interfaces define a Public Tool Interface intended to serve as a basis for the construction of integrated software engineering environments (SEEs). The interfaces include Object Management System (OMS) services that manage the data repository of the environment. The OMS is based on a binary Entity-Relationship model. This paper describes a query service constructed on the PCTE interfaces. Following a brief summary of the OMS features that are necessary to understand the paper, we describe the requirements and design objectives for a query service in an integrated SEE, the basic model for our solution, and then review the facilities of the service. The paper also contains a comparison with other work on queries on E-R and object-oriented databases. The paper's conclusions indicate the differences that exist between requirements and characteristics for query services on SEE data repositories and those for other databases. It shows, for example, how assumptions about data availability and accessibility that are often made for query services are not appropriate for SEE data repositories.

Change oriented versioning in a software engineering database

We present the change oriented model of versioning, which focuses strongly on functional changes in a software product and therefore can be seen as an alternative to the traditional, “version oriented” models. The change oriented model is used as a basis for the versioning in the EPOS software engineering database, which features an integrated transaction and versioning mechanism.
