Awareness and use of electronic resources by research scholars of Karnatak University, Dharwad: A study

Electronic resources have become vital in the 21st century. The paper aims to comprehensively examine the electronic resources used by research scholars of faculty of Social Science, Karnatak University, Dharwad. This paper further emphasizes the awareness level, usage, purposes, frequency, difficulties, benefits, and search techniques used when using electronic resources.A systematic questionnaire was used in the investigation. The questionnaire was issued to 100 researchers from the Faculty of Social Science, Karnatak University, Dharwad.Out of 100, 84 completed responses were received, yielding an overall response rate of 84%. The study indicates that the majority of users are aware of various types of E-resources and that these resources may impact their academic activities at the institution.The study should assist university libraries in better-educating faculty, researchers, and students about e-resources. It will also help them organize more proactive end-user training programs that will raise awareness of using e-resources effectively.

The Effect of the Application of the Problem-Based Learning Model on Communication Problem Solving Ability in Students of the Communication Study Program FISIP UNAS Jakarta

Problem-based Learning (PBL) is a learning method where students are faced with problems that exist in society in real life, to then be used as a trigger in learning. PBL is seen as more effective than the conventional curriculum, which only relies on lectures and practicums. Learning activities in PBL include expert lectures, discussions in small groups, practicum in the laboratory, and clinical skills practicum. Through this activity, it is hoped that students can achieve satisfactory learning achievements, considering that the concept carried by this system is so ideal. Problembased learningg is learning with an approach oriented to a constructivistic view that contains contextual characteristics, collaborative, metacognitive thinking, and facilitates problem solving. Students are able to learn meaningfully that can develop higher-order thinking skills through problem solving. Through this learning, it is hoped that it can increase understanding of meaning, increase independence, increase the development of higher-level thinking skills, increase motivation, facilitate relationships between students and improve skills in building teamwork when solving problems and finding solutions. The design of this study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to communication students of the Communication Psychology course. The results of the research can be used as reference to universities, especially the Communication Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UNAS Jakarta, to implement The problem-based learning model plays an active role in the learning process, especially in this independent curriculum.

Investigating the Causes of Academic Plagiarism and Ways to Prevent It Case Study: (Faryab University)

Academic Plagiarism is one of the serious issues in both fields of "education" and "research." Formal education worldwide, at all levels, and researchers across various scientific disciplines are the two main groups most affected by plagiarism. In the research domain, those who publish the results of others' thoughts and efforts under their own name not only place their own reputation at serious risk but also harm the social standing of researchers. Through such behavior, they tarnish the societal respect of scholars and intellectuals within the community. The present study examines the reasons for committing different types of academic plagiarism and suggests preventive measures from the perspective of the editorial boards of scientific journals, professors, and students from various disciplines at Faryab University. A total of 44 members of the academic staff, including the editorial boards of social and natural science journals, department heads, and faculty deans, as well as 70 top students of this university, participated in the study. The participants responded to two descriptive questions and a questionnaire, either online or in print. The results of this study indicated that the main reasons for the prevalence of plagiarism at Faryab University included the lack of proper training in research methods and standards, the widespread culture of laziness and cheating among both academic staff and students, insufficient awareness of the types of plagiarism and its consequences, and the pressure on professors and students to submit articles and assignments beyond their capabilities in order to achieve academic promotion, obtain scientific rankings, or graduate. Strict law enforcement and serious punishment of offenders, along with proper education and awareness-raising, were among the most important solutions proposed by the participants to combat plagiarism.

Anthropometric Studies of Schoolchildren During the First Decades of the 20th Century in Spain and Argentina.

The practice of anthropometry in schools at the beginning of the 20th century originated in Europe and Latin America in conjunction with the emergence of hygienism and epidemiological auxology. The aim of this work is to deepen the knowledge of these practices in Spain and Argentina and to compare the available growth data in order to identify possible differences between the populations. The anthropometric data of 1693 boys and girls aged 7-15 years (877 Spanish; 816 Argentinean) from the period between 1903 and 1913 were analyzed. The data were taken from the Reports and Memoirs of the School Colonies of the National Pedagogical Museum (Spain) and the Archives of Pedagogy and Related Sciences of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) (Argentina). The most pronounced differences in weight and height were observed between the ages of 11 and 12. The weight growth of Spanish schoolchildren was 22% (boys) and 24% (girls) lower than that of their Argentine counterparts, while linear growth was about 7% lower for both sexes. In addition, the Spanish had a lower body mass index up to the age of 12 years. Argentine boys and girls of La Plata were taller and heavier than their Spanish counterparts of Madrid during the same period (between 1903 and 1913). These results can be attributed to the higher standard of living that characterized the Argentine population at that time.

О практике развития некоторых элементов конвергентного образования в технологическом вузе

The article examines the experience of the Faculty of Humanities and its Center for Cognitive Psychology at the University of Technology in involving students in research and applied scientific projects through cooperation and integration of the humanities and technology departments of the University. The ideas of the transformation of the country's educational system and the change of its methodological, pedagogical and technological guidelines in response to modern challenges and risks are analyzed, primarily for the younger generation in need of social adaptation and deeper natural science and humanitarian training for professional and personal growth. The attempts to substantiate the definition of "convergent education" are analyzed. All of them are based on an understanding, to one degree or another, of an interdisciplinary methodological approach to the formation of educational programs, in order to overcome the highly professional training of specialists and avoid formalizing the content of educational material, taking into account the productive interaction of the fundamental component of humanitarian and professional knowledge, the use of modern methods of automation of various types of information activities using information and computer technologies (algorithmization of learning, information modeling). In general, the convergence of education is defined as a process of learning and upbringing, which is a consequence of the implementation of the modern educational paradigm aimed at understanding, rather than memorizing, education for change, the ability to withstand stress, live in a digital world, preserving humanity, sociability and collectivism, ensuring teamwork, preservation and development of the humanitarian and intellectual component "in the context of the interpenetration of sciences and technologies in the implementation of the convergence of real and virtual communications. The scientific and methodological basis for the development of convergent education at the first stage was the development of scientific and pedagogical practices. This can include the management of students' research activities (R&D), involving them in the development and implementation of various projects of scientific laboratories and centers of departments and faculties. The article summarizes some of the experience of the Center for Cognitive Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities - SGT (until 2022 – ISGT– Institute) of the Federal State Educational Institution of Higher Education "K.G. Razumovsky Moscow State Technical University (PKU)", which was actively involved in the process of cluster formation in the conditions of the university's transformation into an innovative expert–analytical platform, the formation of an expert-educational cluster of excellence "NBICS-technologies of the food industry".

Analysing influential factors in e-learning technology acceptance for digital learning effectiveness enhancement

This study aims to discover the factors that influence the acceptance of electronic learning media and its effect on the effectiveness of digital instruction. The study involved a learning management system and online tutorials using management system (MS) teams from various faculties at the Universitas Terbuka. These include the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the Faculty of Law, Social Sciences, and Political Sciences. also conducted in three regional offices in Ambon, Gorontalo and Makassar, which were selected through purposive sampling. Primary data sources include participant questionnaires and interviews. Analytical methods include correlation and multiple regression analysis, with descriptive statistics used to summarize the dataset. Variable selection involves reliability and validity tests and classical assumption tests like multicollinearity. The F-test demonstrates a statistically significant and beneficial influence of utilizing e-learning media and individual ability, training, and intention to use it for digital learning success. The results of ttests and regression models provide empirical evidence supporting the significant effect of e-learning media and intention to use on the effectiveness of digital learning. However, variables related to training and ability do not show any significant influence.

Infodemic management in higher education: Mapping opportunities at the University of Belgrade

Abstract Background Effective infodemic management (IM) requires a multidisciplinary approach and the use of various skills originating from natural, social, and medical sciences. Personnel involved in IM activities have diverse backgrounds from medical doctors and data scientists to communication specialists and journalists. However, the IM framework is rarely introduced into the existing teaching programs, compromising the training of a competent workforce. Objectives Our goal was to identify opportunities for integrating the IM framework into the existing teaching programs at the University of Belgrade. A team of researchers reviewed the curricula of 31 faculty and identified the courses that already covered IM skills or had the potential to include them in their teaching programs. The research was conducted as part of the U.S. Federal Assistance Award within the University Partnership Program between Emory University and the University of Belgrade. Results After conducting independent reviews and reaching a consensus, over 40 different courses and/or teaching programs have been identified to include or could potentially integrate IM skills and competencies. These courses are found across all major academic clusters (natural sciences and mathematics, technology and engineering, medical sciences, social sciences, and humanities). Faculties of medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry lead with the number of courses and interested teaching staff, followed by social sciences (psychology, sociology, political science). Most of the identified courses are related to information, data science, and communications. Conclusions There is a promising opportunity to introduce IM skills into the current teaching programs at the University of Belgrade. Faculties from the medical sciences group have a solid potential to lead such a process. Collaborative efforts are needed to establish comprehensive teaching programs to ensure a competent public health workforce and certification. Key messages • University of Belgrade has the potential to introduce infodemic management skills into its existing teaching programs, respecting the multidisciplinary nature of this discipline. • Medical and social sciences faculties can lead the process of mainstreaming infodemic management in their curricula, ensuring a competent public health workforce and certification.

Pengolahan dan Pemanfaatan Sampah Rumah Tangga di Lingkungan Desa Tanjung Baru Kecamatan Indralaya Utara Kabupaten Ogan Ilir

The waste problem in Tanjung Baru Village is not a disaster if waste management is managed properly. Good waste management must of course have good environmental management wisdom as well. Environmental wisdom can be seen from how humans treat; objects, plants, animals, and anything around them. This is what is then called ecological intelligence, namely how a person's understanding and knowledge are in understanding their environmental ecosystem, so that they can care about the environment they live in. Therefore, the village asked the PKM team of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sriwijaya University to provide some kind of guidance to the people of Tanjung Baru Village in utilizing household waste. The low level of public understanding regarding the utilization of household waste causes household waste to be simply thrown away. Household waste processing that has not received the touch of processing technology. This can be seen from the absence of households that process household waste into useful processed products. Efforts to transfer information on household waste processing and utilization technology through this PkM activity have resulted in increasing the motivation and attraction of the community to carry out an environmental care movement by processing and utilizing the household waste produced. The people of Tanjung Baru Village have started to select organic and non-organic waste. Organic waste such as vegetables and leaves are processed into organic fertilizer, while leftover food is given to pets such as chickens and ducks. For non-organic waste, it is collected and sold to collectors of used goods and some are reused for home decorations, for example plastic bottles used as a medium for planting vegetables.

Work Readiness Reviewed From Proactive Personality And Psychological Capital

Several factors, including proactive personality and psychological capital, influence work readiness. This study examines the influence of proactive personality and psychological capital on work readiness with a quantitative approach. The subjects of the study are final-year students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Mulawarman University, consisting of cohorts from 2016-2021, selected using a random sampling technique. The data are collected through scales of work readiness, proactive personality, and psychological capital. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression. The collected data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (S.P.S.S.) program version 26.0 for Windows. This study's results indicate a significant influence of proactive personality and psychological capital on work readiness, as shown by the major hypothesis results: F = 21.291, R² = 0.428, and p = 0.000. This study concludes that there is a significant influence between proactive personality and psychological capital on work readiness.

Epigenetic aging and fecundability: the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study.

Is there an association between male or female epigenetic age acceleration (EAA) or deceleration (EAD) and fecundability? We do not find compelling evidence of an association between EAA or EAD and fecundability. Prior research has shown that female accelerated epigenetic aging is associated with unfavorable clinical fecundity outcomes and use of in vitro fertilization, and that epigenetic aging in sperm cells is associated with unfavorable sperm parameters. Studies of epigenetic aging and fecundability among individuals who conceive naturally are lacking. This study is based on the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study (MoBa), a population-based pregnancy cohort which recruited pregnant couples between 1999 and 2008. We used data from 1657 couples (women and men) with planned naturally conceived pregnancies and available blood samples. Methylation levels were measured in DNA from blood samples taken recruitment (at ∼18 gestational weeks) from pregnant women and their partners using the Illumina Methylation EPIC Array. To obtain a measure of EAA/EAD, we performed a linear regression of each of seven different established epigenetic biomarkers (DNAmAge by Horvath, DNAmAge by Hannum et al., PhenoAge by Levine et al., DunedinPoAm by Belsky et al., DunedinPACE by Belsky et al., DNAmTL by Lu et al., and GrimAge by Lu et al.) against chronological age. We fitted proportional probability regression models to obtain fecundability ratios (FRs) for each standard deviation increase in epigenetic aging, and obtained crude and adjusted (for body mass index, smoking, and education level) estimates. Results were evaluated at a false discovery rate (FDR) of 5%. We evaluated all models for non-linear associations using categories of epigenetic age where appropriate. Although the DunedinPACE clock in males demonstrated slightly increasing fecundability with increasing EAA (adjusted FR 1.05 per one standard deviation increase in EAA, 95% CI 1.00-1.10), this was not robust when evaluated at an FDR of 5%. We found evidence of non-linearity between biological aging and fecundability in two models in females and three models in males, but non-linear associations were weak and conflicting. As MoBa is a pregnancy cohort, our findings may not be generalizable to all couples attempting conception. Fecundability is a couple-level measure, and any impacts of epigenetic aging in each partner may be obscured by effects of the other partner. Our findings contrast with those of prior studies, which have indicated an association between EAA and unfavorable clinical fertility outcomes in populations using fertility treatments, possibly due to less important effects of epigenetic aging among couples who conceive naturally. More research is needed on the association between blood-based EAA and clinical fertility parameters in both sexes. Archival Description Turns Truly Collaborative: an Exercise in Records in Contexts Standard

This paper presents an exercise and research conducted by the author at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Zagreb University. It aimed to teach archival description subjects to his BA students and link results using the Records in Contexts (RIC) standard, RDF Turtle standard, and a graph database. The exercise spanned five weeks, during which students had to create the archival description of an exemplary records aggregation of notable historian Jaroslav Šidak, provided by the Faculty Archives. This exercise aimed to examine the potential of RIC and linked data technologies to facilitate collaboration among archivists, reduce the description-related work through decentralization, enable re-using and linking descriptions, and visualize results. The author offers a conclusion regarding collaborative work and creating new knowledge from archived heritage. Finally, some further directions regarding these subjects are being proposed.

Use and Awareness of E-Resources by Postgraduate Students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Barkatullah University, Bhopal: A Survey

The study investigates the use and awareness of e-resources among postgraduate students in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Barkatullah University, Bhopal. E-resources, such as online journals, databases, and digital libraries, have become increasingly important in academic research and learning. This paper aims to assess the level of awareness, access, and utilization of e-resources by postgraduate students, as well as identify the barriers and challenges they face. The study employed a survey-based methodology, involving a structured questionnaire distributed to a sample of 110 postgraduate students across various departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences. The findings reveal a moderate level of awareness and utilization of e-resources among the respondents.

It is with great pride that we present the Preface for the 4th International Conference on Geography and Education (ICGE) 2024, organized by the Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences, State University of Malang. Held on July 24th, 2024, in Malang, Indonesia, under the theme “Climate Change and the Future of Our Planet: Challenges and Opportunities in Geography and Education,” the conference addressed the critical global issue of climate change and its impacts on our planet, emphasizing the essential roles of geography and education in confronting these challenges. ICGE has become a vital platform for academics and practitioners to engage in discussions about environmental issues such as global warming, rising sea levels, and natural disasters. This year’s event focused on developing innovative and sustainable solutions to these pressing global challenges. We were honored to host esteemed keynote speakers, including Prof. Dr. Osamu Murao, Prof. Dr. Paul Dargusch, Muhamad Aufaristama, Ph.D., Syamsul Bachri, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Dr. Purwanto, S.Pd., M.Si., who enriched the discussions with their valuable insights and expertise. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our colleagues, speakers, and participants who dedicated their time, expertise, and passion to making this conference a success. Special thanks are due to the organizing committee from the Department of Geography, State University of Malang, whose commitment was crucial in bringing this event to fruition. The conference was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation to enhance accessibility and engagement. Empirical Study on Attitude towards Making Decision to Select Mathematics for First-Degree Program

Recently debatable arguments have existed regarding the perceived lack of numerical skills among the graduates from the Humanities and Social Sciences. In response to this concern, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculties of Art in national universities in Sri Lanka have taken measures to more opportunities to undergraduates to bolster their numerical proficiency. This is achieved through the incorporation of mathematics course units for their degree programs along with the main subject streams. The study focuses on factors that affect the undergraduates’ attitudes towards making the decision to select the subject mathematics for their first-degree program. A sample survey was carried out using structured questionnaire and stratified random sampling technique was utilized to select a sample size of 352 from the undergraduates belongs to Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The binary logistic regression model is utilized, and the study revealed that self efficacy, mathematical anxiety, and interest in mathematics are significantly affected students’ attitudes on counting mathematics course units for their degree program. The student who has self-efficacy is 1.03 times more likely to select mathematics course unit at the first academic year than other students. A unit increase of mathematics anxiety with all other factors remaining constant, the odds of a student selecting the mathematics course decreased by 11.2%. When one-unit increases in the interest in mathematics of students the odds of selecting mathematics course unit is 1.06 times more likely to than other peers. These insights suggest that educational institutes, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences, should prioritize enhancing students ‘numerical skills. This can be achieved by providing valuable consideration aimed at refining their curriculum and support mechanism, increasing awareness programmes about the importance of studying mathematics course units within their degree programmes and conducting programmes to reduce mathematics anxiety while fostering an increased interest in mathematics.

The Influence of Digital Marketing and Service Quality on Customer Loyalty among Gojek Users (Case Study of FISIP Students at Riau University)

This research aims to identify and analyze the influence of digital marketing and service quality on customer loyalty among Gojek users, with a focus on students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Riau University. The research method used was a survey using a questionnaire distributed to respondents who were Gojek users among FISIP students at Riau University. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression. The results of this research show that digital marketing has a significant influence on customer loyalty among Gojek users among FISIP students at Riau University. Apart from that, service quality also has a significant influence on customer loyalty among Gojek users among FISIP students at Riau University. Thus, it can be concluded that both digital marketing and service quality have an important role in forming customer loyalty on the Gojek platform among FISIP students at Riau University. It is hoped that the findings from this research can contribute to the development of digital marketing strategies and improve service quality for Gojek and other similar companies in increasing customer loyalty, especially among FISIP students at Riau University and can also be a reference for further research in the same field.

The Influence of Online Customer Reviews and Online Customer Ratings on Purchasing Decisions on the Lazada Marketplace (Study of FISIP Students, University of Riau Using the Lazada Application)

The development of technology and the internet has changed the consumer paradigm in making purchases, especially through online platforms such as Lazada. This research aims to examine the influence of online customer reviews and ratings on purchasing decisions on the Lazada marketplace, with a focus on students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Riau who use the Lazada application. The research method used was a survey via questionnaire distributed to 300 student respondents. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression techniques to test the research hypothesis. The research results show that online customer reviews and online customer ratings have a significant influence on purchasing decisions at Lazada. This shows that online customer reviews and ratings play an important role in shaping buyers' perceptions of the products offered on the platform.

Exploring the engagement of students who identify as Black, Indigenous (and/or) People of Colour (BIPoC) with Learning Development practitioners: reviewing the value, impact, and recommendations for future practice

The need for universities to effectively support students identifying as Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Colour (BIPoC) remains a pressing element of strategies to close awarding gaps. Within overall support packages, the contribution of Learning Developers merits investigation, since these staff are often responsible for nurturing growth in students’ academic abilities. Through this small-scale, exploratory, qualitative study, we sought to better understand how Learning Developers can contribute to narrowing awarding gaps by exploring the benefits of and barriers to students engaging with Learning Development (LD). These benefits and barriers were elicited in interviews with twelve BIPoC students within one school in the Humanities and Social Sciences faculty in a UK university. The study explored their experiences of the value of LD interactions and how it might be enhanced. Aspects deemed valuable emerged broadly as anticipated, centring around how Learning Developers assisted students to learn academic practices such as: decoding assessment instructions and marking rubrics, referencing, breaking down tasks, and feedback uptake. More specifically relevant to BIPoC students, however, was the desirability of a flexible approach to the number and length of LD tutorials, enabling them to build relationships, understand guidance, and ask questions. Secondly, they mentioned the need to see ethnic diversity represented in the LD staff base and amongst student champions for LD. These factors were noted as good practice when evident, but open to further improvement. We conclude that whilst effective foundations were in place, the task of supporting BIPoC students remains one for ongoing reflection and action.

The Modern Records Centre

The Modern Records Centre (MRC) is the leading archive in the United Kingdom for collections of national-level trades union and employers’ organisation records. It holds the historic records of the University of Warwick and is an important archive for such diverse topics as fringe politics, pressure groups, and cycling, amongst others. The MRC is a key teaching resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students across Warwick’s Arts and Social Science faculties and contributes to public engagement and outreach through events for local community groups and schools. In 2023, the MRC celebrated its 50th anniversary with a series of events, culminating in a symposium at the University of Warwick. This paper provides historical background about the MRC's foundation and development, situating it within the wider research climate of the 1970s. It then introduces the contributions to this collecting of proceedings from the anniversary symposium.
