Technologies for correcting reproductive behavior of the population are based on an integrated approach, taking into account medical, economic, psychological and social aspects. Today, of particular interest are the ethnocultural features of reproductive behavior in interaction with issues of reproductive health, legal support for the health care system, taking into account migration processes, the implementation of treatment and prevention of reproductive health disorders of women and men, the formation of reproductive well-being among the younger generation, which will be successfully implemented in the future. For the successful implementation of technologies for the protection of reproductive health, regular state and institutional collection and monitoring of data on pregnancy, fertility, perinatal health trends, risk factors, including screening, early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders is necessary, expanding the scope of prevention to childhood and adolescence. Today, such medical and social technologies as patronage of pregnant women in difficult life situations are defined as socially in demand; identification of risk factors for successful conception and pregnancy outcome; medical and psychological assistance to women and families based on a personalized approach; consultations on legal and social protection of women wishing to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, support during pregnancy or after an abortion; socio-psychological assistance to vulnerable groups of the population, disabled women, adolescents and young people, especially from low social strata; prevention of domestic violence and assistance to women victims of violence, including sexual violence. In order to correct the reproductive attitudes of the population, technologies are effective that reflect the significant role of society’s value priorities, including strengthening civic responsibility, understanding the national importance of the successful birth of children, and the formation of the social prestige of a large family.

PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN DISADVANTAGED FAMILIES

In the article, the authors determined the relevance of the problem of violence against women and its prevention in dysfunctional families; the ways of social assistance to them and prevention of complications of the consequences of violence in the family are revealed. The content of the definition of "disadvantage" of the family and its status, which is revealed due to the connection with the specific situation of the functioning of the family and its individual members, have been clarified. The authors also characterized the phenomenon of violence against women in terms of physical, psychological, sexual and economic content. The content of the root causes of violence is revealed and revealed from the point of view of a retrospective review of the problem and taking into account the opinions of supporters of psychological theories and theories of social causation. The causes of family dysfunction are listed, such as economic instability, unemployment, legal illiteracy, alcohol and drug addiction of family members, lack of understanding of life goals and means of achieving them, and their impact on the risk and perpetration of violence against women in dysfunctional families is substantiated. . Emphasis is placed on the multiplicity of root causes of violence and their conditioning by a set of interrelated factors and factors. The possibility of influence of some on the crucial importance of others in dysfunctional families has been proven. The need for specialists in the field of social work, social pedagogues, and psychologists to provide qualified assistance to women who have become victims of domestic violence is substantiated. Social protection of women, in particular in dysfunctional families, is presented in the article as a holistic system of social prevention, which is based on clearly formulated principles and legal acts. The possibilities and expediency of social prevention of violence against women in dysfunctional families are substantiated; revealed the content and purpose of its three levels: primary, secondary, tertiary. Resources for the development and improvement of preventive activities to prevent violence against women in dysfunctional families are outlined. It was concluded that the effectiveness of social work with women who have become or could potentially become victims of violence will be facilitated by a set of preventive measures to prevent men's cruel treatment of them, and directions of work to overcome the consequences of domestic violence against them in dysfunctional families.

ВОПРОСЫ РЕСОЦИАЛИЗАЦИИ ЖЕНЩИН, ОСВОБОДИВШИХСЯ ИЗ МЕСТ ЛИШЕНИЯ СВОБОДЫ

In this article, the author examines the problems of adaptation and resocialization of women released from prison and the problems of their further restoration, strengthening and development of socially significant relationships for women. In this study, the author also examines the features of serving a sentence, such as conditions of detention, educational work and labor issues. Analyzing the penal legislation, the author raises the question of the need to resolve the issue of compulsory treatment of convicts and persons who have served their sentences suffering from socially significant diseases. The author pays attention to the development of individual measures aimed at resocialization and social protection of women at the post-penitentiary stage. Based on the results of a sociological survey and statistical data, the author attempts to develop recommendations in order to find effective ways to return a convicted woman to society, family and society in general.

Legal principles of regulation of state gender policy in Ukraine

Problem setting. Gender policy today is one of the decisive factors in building civil society, reaching consensus between different branches of government, the successful implementation of democratic reforms in Ukraine, its integration into the European Union. The observance of gender equality in the state demonstrates how civilized and democratic it is. The purpose of this article is a general study of the main directions of state gender policy, analysis of international norms in the field of gender equality and compliance of current Ukrainian legislation with international legal standards. Analysis of recent researches and publications. Issues of legal support for gender equality in Ukraine are studied by scientists in various aspects, as indicated by the scientific works of Kobelyanska L., Hrytsyak N., Hrytsai I., Grabovska I., Melnyk T., Honyukova L., Pedchenko N., Kresina I. and others. Article’s main body. However, some aspects related to further improvement of the state gender policy, bringing the current legislation in line with international and regional legal standards remain unresolved. The implementation of these tasks has not only theoretical but also significant practical significance and, accordingly, requires further research. Problems of studying the state policy of Ukraine in the field of gender equality remain relevant, as evidenced by the analysis of international norms and current Ukrainian legislation in the field of equality of rights of men and women, elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, combating domestic violence. The article considers both the positive and negative aspects of the state gender policy; the necessity of further improvement of the current legislation, bringing it in line with international legal standards, which is especially important in connection with the European integration processes of Ukraine, is substantiated. Conclusions and prospects for development. Thus, it should be noted that gender policy remains an important area of public policy, but unfortunately, despite significant advances in gender equality, public policy is reduced to such separate areas as assistance to families with children, social protection of women, protection of women in sphere of labor, etc. These areas of state social policy are very important, but they are not exhaustive. In addition, the legal framework for state gender policy needs to be further improved. Not all legal documents are perfect, unambiguous and can be fully applied in practice and therefore need further refinement. The Law on Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men, adopted in 2005, needs to be updated because it does not meet modern needs. In addition, Ukraine lacks a National Strategy in the field of gender equality, which would promote the further development of the principle of gender integration in all spheres and branches of public administration. The problem of equal rights for women and men in a democratic society is proclaimed as one of the main tasks in solving today’s social problems.

Be wifmannes beweddunge: Betrothals and Weddings in Anglo-Saxon England

ABSTRACTThe Old English quasi-legal text Be wifmannes beweddunge (‘On the betrothal of a woman’) is a key source for understanding how marriages were contracted in late Anglo-Saxon England. This paper will use the nine clauses of Be wifmannes beweddunge as a window into a broader discussion of the Anglo-Saxon betrothal and wedding process. It will consider in turn the issue of licit and illicit unions, the economic and legal terms of the betrothal agreement, and the development of Christian wedding rites. It will argue that Be wifmannes beweddunge is fundamentally concerned with the legal, financial, physical and social protection of women within marriage. Moreover, it will argue that this text offers evidence for a gradual Christianisation of betrothal and wedding customs in late Anglo-Saxon England.

Gender budgeting in the context of social protection in Ukraine

The article considers gender budgeting as a way to solve important social problems, in particular those related to meeting the needs of women. Given the need a significantly improve the demographic situation in the country the problem of social support for women of childbearing age becomes especially urgent. The general characteristic of gender budgeting is presented. This will help to find out further directions for reforming budget (as well as social) legislation. The dynamics of fertility in Ukraine in 1990-2018 is shown. The purpose of the article is to identify those gender issues that should be taken into account by the government and local authorities during budgeting, in particular those related to the social protection of women. The study used general scientific and special methods: analysis and synthesis, the method of comparison, generalization, statistical and others. The methodological basis of the study is a comprehensive approach, system-structural analysis and the dialectical method of scientific knowledge. The scientific approaches to the definition of the concept of "gender budgeting" are generalized. The necessity of increasing the maternity allowance has been proved, in particular for women who are not insured in the system of compulsory state social insurance, as well as the expediency of reorienting the calculation of the benefit amount from 25% of the living wage for an able-bodied person to its full size. Conclusions: In Ukraine, while making budgetary analysis and planning of expenditures aimed at ensuring gender equality, it is necessary that in state and local authorities budgets precisely those expenditures should be take into account, which are important not only for women but for men, the state and all the society as well. This requires: strengthening political support for gender initiatives; coordinating the efforts of various agencies as to the transition to the gender-oriented budgeting (GOB) on an ongoing basis; involving questions related to social policy issues, including gender inequality, into training programs for economics, finance, and public administration; gender analysis not only of expenditures but also of budget revenues; cooperation of state bodies engaged in budgeting with public organizations, communities, feminist centers.

Understanding the Nature and Context of Domestic Homicide Committed by Female Victims of Domestic Violence in Iran: Examining Current and Alternative Criminal Justice Responses

AbstractDomestic homicide is the most serious type of violence in a marital relationship, which is punishable by the death penalty as retaliation (Qisas) according to the Penal Code of Iran. The present paper analyzes why a woman commits this crime (the killing of her husband), examining the killer’s status in a marital relationship. Data show that the killers had been victims of domestic violence for 10–25 years. In other words, domestic homicide has a direct relationship with the killer being victimized by domestic violence, including physical (assault and battery), mental (insult and obscenity), sexual and sometimes financial violence that may result from addiction. The most important reason for domestic homicide is the failure to provide legal and social protection for women. This incites hatred for the husband, which arises from repeated victimization in a coercive relationship with the husband. These women cannot end this coercive relationship because of insufficient or unavailable legal, social or family protection. Moreover, the process of divorce for a woman in Iran is quite complex. This article also examines the potential defense of mental capacity and self-defense and its place in the Iranian penal code. Based on this research, this article argues for the need for the legislature to review the death penalty for this kind of crime and to consider other possible responses to such murders.

True equality of rights and freedoms can be found only on the basis of recognition of the value of each person, creation of stable conditions for self-development of the human intellect, the most complete realization of his creative potential and creative abilities, the comprehensive disclosure of essential forces and talents, which will ensure everyone's full contribution to the development of society. The transition of many countries to the information society - a society of intelligence, knowledge and thinking - creates basic opportunities for self-development and self-realization for every person. The need to adopt a gender strategy is determined by social problems caused by socio-economic and political transformations in Russia. Along with the opening of new prospects for the widespread use of human abilities, people are required to have high adaptive capabilities, which differ significantly between men and women. This article was written with the aim of developing a mechanism for the social protection of women in the context of gender-based violence. The following tasks are defined in the article: how to identify and justify the significance of the physiological premises of gender inequality; show the immanent essence of gender. inequalities in the history of the peoples of the world; to consider the dynamics of relations of inequality between the sexes; show the essence of violence as manifestations of gender inequality; develop a classification and analyze the types of gender-based violence; to explore the manifestation of gender-based violence in modern society. The article consists of from introduction, literature survey, methodology, recommendation, discussions, and conclusion.

«Ты дефективный или аморальный?». Проблемы селекции и социализации «морально-дефективных» детей в 20-е гг. ХХ века в Советской России: региональные аспекты

We consider the regional features of the social protection system of “morally handicapped” children in Tambov province in the first decade of Soviet government (1918–1928). We representatively and comprehensively investigate various poorly studied aspects of the declared scientific problem on the basis of attraction and processing of a wide complex of primary archival sources and other materials. We reveal typical regional features of the social education system formation in relation to homeless children and children with criminal tendencies in the formation period of the new socialist state at the provincial and county levels, different from the capital’s projects and instructions. We also show spontaneity and haste in the search for different forms and methods of organization of care for such socially neglected children. We clarify the main educational practices and organizational measures for the opportunities and needs of provincial institutions of the social education. We identify the main ways and methods of work with juvenile offenders during the period under review. Conclusions are drawn about the results and features of support for such “special” children and adolescents at the level of the province and county, which allowed to reconstruct the system of social protection of post-revolutionary Russia. Special atten-tion was paid to the social protection of women’s councils female workers’ children and other re-gional public organizations. Attention is paid to the importance of taking into account regional specifics and specific historical, socio-political, socio-cultural and ethno-confessional features of the social education system. We clarify the factors that had the strongest impact on the personnel, financing of children’s social institutions, as well as trends in their development in the Soviet era. We reveal the catastrophic impact of the new economic policy on the regional system of social education and the work of orphanages, where homeless children gathered, who lacked other opportunities for socialization and survival.

СТАВОВИ МЛАДИХ У СРБИЈИ ПРЕМА ПРОСТИТУЦИЈИ, РОДНОЈ РАВНОПРАВНОСТИ И ФЕМИНИЗМУ У 2016. ГОДИНИ

The objective of this research was to examine social and demographic predictors for the attitudes of young people in Serbia toward prostitution, gender equality and feminism, as well as to analyse the relations of these three attitudes between each other, and in relation to basic variable of sexual behaviour (age of first intercourse and number of sexual partners). The sample for this research was 1114 participants (67.6% female with average age of 22.4 years, SD =2.59). Three scales were applied in data collection process such as the scale of attitudes about prostitution, the scale of attitudes about gender equality (Džamonja-Ignjatović, Žegarac, Popović, & Duhaček, 2009) and the scale of attitudes about feminism (Džamonja-Ignjatović еt al., 2009). The results show that boys have more positive attitude about prostitution although the difference in regard to attitudes of girls was far more expressed in smaller than in big cities. Contrary to this, the data relative to the attitudes toward gender equality and feminism point that girls have expressed more positive attitude than boys. Additionally, our results show positive association of attitudes on gender equality and prostitution. The rights and social protection of women in prostitution in Serbia are a marginalised social issue and social reactions of tolerance and indifference are predominant. In this regard further research of attitudes of systematic solutions, possibilities and challenges in prostitution could provide significant contribution to this subject.

Social protection of female workers at Saint Petersburg industrial enterprises in the second half of the XIX - early XX century as one of the aspects of everyday life female history

The paper refers to the measures of social protection of female workers at St. Petersburg industrial enterprises in the second half of the XIX early XX century. Social security is an important part of any persons everyday life, especially women. Laws adopted in the Russian Empire, within the framework of factory legislation, were aimed at supporting the interests of industrial entrepreneurs rather than female workers. Legislative acts that were supposed to guarantee social protection for women workers were practically not observed. Many of these laws were even abolished by later regulatory acts. Female workers did not receive equal wages with men. Women had to work long hours in unsanitary conditions. Female workers were almost slaves for the owner of an industrial enterprise. Factory inspectors could not help women workers solve their problems. The authorities did not provide social protection for women in St. Petersburg, who worked for factories in the second half of the XIX early XX century.

Feminist Movements and the Gender Economic Agenda in Latin America

In Latin America, the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing represents a milestone in the history of the feminist and women's movements. Twenty years have passed and despite important achievements in gender equality, for issues of economic equality the results are still meagre and there remains a long road ahead in the fields of employment, access to resources, and social protection for women. Unsurprisingly, it is in economic matters that the feminist and women's movements have renewed their themes and strategies. This article identifies a gender economic agenda that is broad in its transformative scope and in its determination to challenge core aspects of the current economic and social organisation. This broad perspective is a direct legacy of the Beijing Platform for Action but expands a step beyond as it incorporates new challenges for bringing gender justice by questioning the current ways of production and consumption.
