Analysis of the Impact of the Social Environment on the Implementation of the Construction of the Wiego Warehouse Building on Jalan Letda Sujono Medan

In modern civilization, the construction of modern shopping centers is often a symbol of a city's progress. The implementation of development will definitely have various impacts, one of which is social and environmental impacts. This research aims to determine the social and environmental impact of the construction of the Wiego Warehouse Building on Jalan Letda Sujono. This research was carried out by distributing questionnaires to the local community during the construction of the project. The data collection technique used a questionnaire by distributing it to 71 respondents with question criteria of social impact and environmental impact. The research method used is descriptive analysis, validity testing and reliability testing. The results of the social and environmental impact validity test have a calculated r value greater than the r table, namely 0.2303, and the social impact reliability test results show a Cronbach Alpha value (0.935) 0.7, while the environmental impact Cronbach Alpha (0.974) 0, 7. The ranking method is used to determine the ranking of respondents and give priority to study variables, after collecting data from respondents, it is then analyzed using the Mean value, which is a group explanation technique based on the average value to get the Mean value, processing questionnaire data using the SPSS program with descriptive analysis methods. From the research results, a ranking order for each social and environmental impact was obtained. The most important social impact is disruption of traffic comfort, and the most important environmental impact is the effect of implementing this project on the emergence of air pollution.

Classifying School Scope Using Deep Neural Networks Based on Students' Surrounding Living Environments

This research investigates school scope classification using Deep Neural Networks (DNN), focusing on students living environments and educational opportunities. By addressing the interplay of socioeconomic and educational factors, the study aims to develop an analytical framework for understanding how environmental contexts shape academic trajectories. The research provides a nuanced understanding of the importance of features in educational classification by developing DNN models based on Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient (SRCC). The methodology employs machine learning techniques, integrating data wrangling, exploratory analysis, and multiple DNN models with K-fold cross-validation. The study analyzes 677 student records from two schools. The research examined multiple model configurations. Results show that the 'All Data' model achieved 83.08% accuracy, the 'Top 5' model 81.54%, and the 'Non-Top 5' model 79.23%. The SRCC-based approach revealed that while top correlated features are important, additional variables significantly contribute to model performance. The study highlights the profound impact of family background, social environment, and educational contexts on school selection. Furthermore, it demonstrates DNN's capability to uncover intricate, non-linear relationships, offering actionable insights for policymakers to leverage machine learning's potential in developing targeted educational strategies.

An accelerated Benders decomposition method for distributionally robust sustainable medical waste location and transportation problem

This study addresses the sustainable medical waste location and transportation (SMWLT) problem from the viewpoint of social risk, environmental impact, and economic performance, where model uncertainty includes risk and transportation costs. In practice, it is usually hard to obtain the exact probability distribution of uncertain parameters. To address this challenge, this study first constructs an ambiguity set to model the partial distribution information of uncertain parameters. Based on the constructed ambiguity set, this study develops a new multi-objective distributionally robust chance-constrained (DRCC) model for the SMWLT problem. Subsequently, this study adopts the robust counterpart (RC) approximation method to reformulate the proposed DRCC model as a computationally tractable mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model. Furthermore, an accelerated Benders decomposition (BD) enhanced by valid inequalities is designed to solve the resulting MILP model, which significantly improves the solution efficiency compared with the classical BD algorithm and CPLEX solver. Finally, a practical case in Chongqing, China, is addressed to illustrate the effectiveness of our DRCC model and the accelerated BD solution method.

Music has a profound impact on a person's identity and has a complicated and deep relationship with the self. The psychological concept called "musical identity" includes a variety of elements derived from "personal, social, emotional, and musical competencies." It represents how people behave in a cultural and social context and is influenced by their involvement in music and practice. This study examines how people acquire musical knowledge and skills and also the cognitive, emotional and social aspects of this process. Trevarthen and Malloch’s Stage Theory, which hypothesises that there are discrete transitions in musical development across the lifespan, is a well-known framework in this area. Another approach is Evans and McPherson’s application of Self-Determination Theory (SDT), which empasises the significance of autonomy, competence, and relatedness in forming musical identity. Using a lifelong perspective, Lamont emphasizes the impact of social settings and cultural environments on the negotiation of musical identity. Her work emphasises the significance of early musical encounters, the influence of formal and informal musical interactions during infancy, and the development of musical identity during adolescence and maturity. Understanding these frameworks enhances our knowledge of how musical identities are formed and also has implications for music education, therapy, and the promotion of lifelong musical participation.

Analysis and social work intervention of adolescent premature dating from a social-ecological perspective

By applying social ecological theory and social work concepts and methods to analyze the phenomenon of adolescent early dating, it is found that the causes of adolescent early dating involve changes in physiological and psychological structures, the influence of family atmosphere, school education, peer group effects, and the impact of social environment and traditional culture on three levels. Social work can intervene in the social ecological system of adolescents through professional methods such as case counseling, group work, and community work, carrying out practical work in their individual, family, school, and community aspects, and contributing to the resolution of adolescent early dating issues.

Impact of Islamic Financial Literacy, Money Attitude, and Social Environment on Young Muslim Couples' Financial Planning

Disciplined financial planning can create a more durable and financially stable marriage. However, many people still depend on fate, leading to financial planning being overlooked in daily life. Economic factors remain the second most common cause of divorce in Surabaya. Indonesia’s Sharia financial literacy index is only 8.93%, and only 6.3% of the population prepares for long-term financial goals. This study has the purpose of observing the modification theory of planned behavior with the variable Islamic financial literacy, attitude towards money, and social environment on family financial planning among young Muslim couples, especially in Surabaya. This research uses a quantitative approach used multiple linear regression analysis, utilizing IBM SPSS version 27 as the analytical tool. The subjects of this research are young Muslim couples in Surabaya, as younger generations often lack sufficient financial knowledge and tend to make poor financial decisions. The total sample consists of 75 respondents. The results show that Islamic financial literacy and social environment variables positively and significantly affect family financial planning. Meanwhile, the attitude towards money variable also shows an influence but is not statistically significant. These findings highlight the importance of improving Islamic financial literacy and leveraging the social environment to enhance family financial planning outcomes.

The informational relevance of social accounting for the management of financial institutions. A case study: Banca Transilvania Financial Group

This paper analyzes the relevance of social accounting information for managing financial institutions, using Banca Transilvania Financial Group (BTFG) as a case study. It explores how social accounting data can enhance decision-making processes within these institutions. Social information from BTFG’s annual integrated reports was used to construct a social balance sheet, and financial data was collected to calculate economic value added (EVA) and social value added (SVA). Research question include: Does social accounting represent a lever for substantiating the managerial decision in financial institutions? Results show that SVA is a valuable indicator for financial institution managers, reflecting the institution’s contributions to social well-being, environmental impact, and community support. Policy implications suggest regulatory bodies should mandate the inclusion of social accounting metrics in financial reporting standards to encourage socially responsible practices, enhance transparency, and incentivize institutions achieving high SVA. This paper contributes to the literature by demonstrating the practical application of social accounting in financial institutions and highlighting the importance of SVA as a managerial tool. How Tourism Development Leads to Residents' Subjective Happiness Through Their Quality of Life: A Social Exchange Theory Perspective

ABSTRACTThe present research confirmed a comprehensive model for examining the connections between tourist development, subjective happiness, residents' quality of life, and support for sustainable tourism development. Study hypotheses were tested using a covariance‐based structural equation modeling analytical technique with 451 data points. The structural model found socio‐economic impact as the most vital antecedent of quality of life, followed by social impact, cultural impact, and environmental impact. In addition, social impact emerged as the most important predictor of subjective happiness, followed by cultural impact and quality of life. Moreover, the full mediating effect of residents' quality of life was confirmed in two paths, namely, socio‐economic impact to subjective happiness and environmental impact to subjective happiness. Finally, a study model confirmed a positive and significant effect of residents' quality of life on their support for sustainable tourism development. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed at large.

Bugis bridal make-up is a traditional art form requiring specialized training to master its intricate techniques. Understanding the factors that influence learning outcomes in this field is crucial. Cognitive abilities and the social environment play significant roles in educational success, yet their impact on Bugis bridal make-up training remains underexplored. This study aims to examine the impact of the social environment on cognitive abilities and learning outcomes in Bugis bridal make-up training. A mixed-methods approach was utilized, involving quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with 150 trainees from various training centers. Data were collected on participants' cognitive abilities, perceived social support, and learning outcomes. Statistical analyses were conducted to identify significant relationships, and thematic analysis was used to interpret qualitative data. The findings reveal a positive correlation between a supportive social environment and enhanced cognitive abilities, which in turn significantly improve learning outcomes in Bugis bridal make-up training. Trainees who reported higher levels of social support demonstrated better cognitive performance and achieved higher proficiency in make-up skills

Perspectives of Gender-Diverse Youth and Caregivers Facing Gender-Affirming Medical Intervention Bans.

Purpose: In the past 2 years, nearly all 50 states have debated bills seeking to ban minors' access to gender-affirming medical interventions, with many being passed into law. This study documents gender-diverse youths' (GDY) and their caregivers' experiences as they grapple with how such laws impact their families. Methods: Sixteen GDY and 16 caregivers participating in a longitudinal study of the impact of gender-affirming care on GDYs' well-being were interviewed about how the legal and social discourse was impacting them and their families. When interviewed, some participants had completed only the initial intake, others had completed the intake and an initial medical consultation, and a few had recently started gender-affirming hormones. Thematic analysis was used to identify common threads in the youths' and caregivers' experiences. Results: Four main themes were identified: Direct effects of losing access to gender-affirming medical interventions, reflecting how losing access to care would impact well-being; growing hostility toward the gender-diverse community, noting increasing social negativity; personal and social upheaval, reflecting the many aspects of families' lives affected; and galvanization into social action, documenting drives to effect social change. Conclusion: Laws banning gender-affirming medical interventions impact GDY and their families beyond limiting access to medical care. They increase the social stressors, cause social network disruptions, increase hostility toward the gender-diverse community, and lead some GDY and caregivers to engage more politically to protect their community. Gender-affirming health care providers need to recognize how the social and political environment impact GDY and their families to provide high-quality, person-centered care.

Health-related quality of life and perceptions of neighborhood physical and social environment in Tehran, Iran

ABSTRACT In light of rapid global urbanization and development, planners have become more concerned with the quality of life in cities. However, the perceptual connections between the built environment and resident well-being deserve more systematic attention. This study investigates the relationship between the perceived physical and social features of the neighborhood environment and the health-related quality of life for 393 adult residents in Tehran, Iran. A questionnaire was developed to examine participants’ perceptions of neighborhood social and physical factors, along with the World Health Organization’s Quality of Life – Brief Form (WHOQOL – BREF) to measure their health-related quality of life. Using factor analysis, correlations, and multiple linear regressions, the findings suggest that all subcomponents of the physical environment (accessibility, amenity, and legibility) and social environment (participation, sense of community, and satisfaction) impact psychological, social relationships, and environmental health, but that amenities were most powerfully predictive of all three types of socio-environmental health.

Optimizing decision-making in electric power system selection: A generalized approach based on Hamacher aggregation operators for q-rung orthopair fuzzy soft sets

Identifying the most suitable power source that is cost-effective, environmentally friendly, socially accepted, and capable of ensuring long-term sustainability represents a critical decision-making (DM) problem. Existing models based on traditional fuzzy sets and specific norms cannot describe complex issues such as selecting the best electric power system (EPS). These decision models can also be challenging, especially when transparency and regulatory compliance are required. This study introduces a novel operational framework based on Hamacher aggregation operators for q-rung orthopair fuzzy set soft sets. It aims to help decision-makers identify appropriate policies to overcome the shortfall of electric power. The advantages of the introduced decision support tool are better discrimination ability, well suited for handling extreme values in data, greater flexibility in representing complex DM scenarios, and parametrization. We also demonstrate the practical application of our approach to a real-world problem related to selecting the most suitable EPS in Pakistan. The selection is made from the set of five EPSs and is based on critical aspects like social acceptance, environmental impact, and cost-effectiveness. The findings show that the developed approach effectively identifies the best EPS. Tuning variables like q and ℓ allows for testing the sensitivity of the developed operators. The results showed that higher values of q make the uncertainty more evenly represented, which is essential for specific uses. The comparison with the existing approaches suggests the superiority of the proposed analytic framework.

Effects of social environments on male primate HPG and HPA axis developmental programming.

Developmental plasticity is particularly important for humans and other primates because of our extended period of growth and maturation, during which our phenotypes adaptively respond to environmental cues. The hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) and hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axes are likely to be principal targets of developmental "programming" given their roles in coordinating fitness-relevant aspects of the phenotype, including sexual development, adult reproductive and social strategies, and internal responses to the external environment. In social animals, including humans, the social environment is believed to be an important source of cues to which these axes may adaptively respond. The effects of early social environments on the HPA axis have been widely studied in humans, and to some extent, in other primates, but there are still major gaps in knowledge specifically relating to males. There has also been relatively little research examining the role that social environments play in developmental programming of the HPG axis or the HPA/HPG interface, and what does exist disproportionately focuses on females. These topics are likely understudied in males in part due to the difficulty of identifying developmental milestones in males relative to females and the general quiescence of the HPG axis prior to maturation. However, there are clear indicators that early life social environments matter for both sexes. In this review, we examine what is known about the impact of social environments on HPG and HPA axis programming during male development in humans and nonhuman primates, including the role that epigenetic mechanisms may play in this programming. We conclude by highlighting important next steps in this research area.

Racial/ethnic minority females smoke more cigarettes after social interaction with others who smoke

The present study investigated the effects of social interaction with others who smoke on daily cigarette use among diverse females via ecological momentary assessment methods. Ninety-eight premenopausal females (29.6% White, 70.4% racial/ethnic minority) who smoke daily reported their social interactions and cigarette use over 35-days. Greater than usual levels of social interaction with others who smoke was associated with increased cigarette use that day among racial/ethnic minority females. Future smoking cessation interventions targeting racial/ethnic minority females should consider the impact of social environments on smoking behaviors, such as the frequency of peer interactions with others who smoke.

Exploratory Factor Analysis of Influences on Social Integration and Religious Practice Among Catholic Students: Evidence from Hanoi- Vietnam

The study contributes to the existing knowledge by introducing how various factors determine religious commitment and practices among Catholic students in Hanoi, Vietnam, an under-studied region in academic literature. In this gap, the research study investigates the impact of social support networks, cultural identity, educational environment, and social integration on the students’ religiosity. The study method is justified, as the researcher employed a well-constructed questionnaire based on previous literature and expert consultations. Thus, the collected data from a stratified random sample of 200 university students in Hanoi over 2020-2022 was analyzed through Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The study's findings show a positive relationship between social support networks, cultural identity, educational environment, and the dependent variable of religious commitment to the students. Moreover, there is a positive relationship between the dependent and independent variables, as noted in the first significant correlation. These results help bridge the gap and provide practical implications for educators and religious leaders in approaching Vietnamese youth. This can assist their overall spiritual health and help them engage effectively in religious and educational practices in Vietnamese society.

THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND SECURED WORKING ENVIRONMENT ON JOB SATISFACTION IN THE LEBANESE SMALL BUSINESS CONTEXT: THE MEDIATING EFFECT OF TRUST

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the impact of social working environment and secured working environment on job satisfaction in Lebanese SMEs, with a particular focus on the mediating effect of job satisfaction Theoretical Framework: A secure working environment is an essential aspect of the workplace that contributes to employee job satisfaction. A secure working environment is free from threats and hazards, and employees feel safe and secure while working. A secure working environment is vital in enhancing job satisfaction among employees. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study utilized a sample of 350 respondents working in SMEs in Lebanon and employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the hypothesized relationships between the variables Findings: The findings of this study revealed that both social working environment and secured working environment had a significant positive impact on job satisfaction. Specifically, a supportive and friendly social working environment and a secured working environment were found to be associated with higher levels of job satisfaction among employees. Furthermore, the study also found that job satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between social working environment and job satisfaction, as well as the relationship between secured working environment and job satisfaction. Research, Practical & Social Implications: This suggests that job satisfaction plays a crucial role in explaining the relationship between these variables. These findings have important implications for SMEs in Lebanon and other contexts. For example, employers should prioritize creating a social working environment that fosters teamwork, collaboration, and positive relationships among employees, as well as a secured working environment that prioritizes safety and security. These factors can significantly contribute to employee job satisfaction and overall well-being. Originality/Value: This research is original and unique and it contributes to the field of Lebanon.

Enhancing project success: the impact of sociotechnical integration on project and program management using earned value management systems

PurposeEarned value management systems (EVMS), also called integrated project and program management systems, have been greatly examined in the literature, which has typically focused on their technical aspects rather than social. This study aims to hypothesize that improving both the technical maturity of EVMS and the social environment elements of EVMS applications together will significantly impact project performance outcomes. For the first time, empirical evidence supports a strong relationship between EVMS maturity and environment.Design/methodology/approachData was collected from 35 projects through four workshops, attended by 31 industry practitioners with an average of 19 years of EVMS experience. These experts, representing 23 organizations, provided over 2,800 data points on sociotechnical integration and performance outcomes, covering projects totaling $21.8 billion. Statistical analyses were performed to derive findings on the impact of technical maturity and social environment on project success.FindingsThe results show statistically significant differences in cost growth, compliance, meeting project objectives and business drivers and customer satisfaction, between projects with high EVMS maturity and environment and projects with poor EVMS maturity and environment. Moreover, the technical and social dimensions were found to be significantly correlated.Originality/valueKey contributions include a novel and tested performance-driven framework to support integrated project management using EVMS. The adoption of this detailed assessment framework by government and industry is driving a paradigm shift in project management of some of the largest and most complex projects in the U.S.; specifically transitioning from a project assessment based upon a binary approach for EVMS technical maturity (i.e. compliant/noncompliant to standards) to a wide-ranging scale (i.e. 0–1,000) across two dimensions.

How Sense of Community and Social Environment Influence residents’ Subjective Well-Being? Moderating Role of Trust

ABSTRACT The research aims to provide contextual insights into residents’ subjective well-being in tourism-dependent destinations under the impact of neo-imperialism. Drawing upon the bottom-up spillover theory of subjective well-being and social exchange theory, the study examines an integrative model encompassing sense of community, social relations, positive and negative tourism impacts, residents’ subjective well-being, and their support for tourism. A stratified sample of 678 residents was collected in Arzachena, Sardinia, Italy. The findings highlight the prominent role of sense of community, along with social environment and positive tourism impact, in predicting residents’ subjective well-being and their support for tourism. The paper also reveals the significant moderating effects of trust in local tourism authorities. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed, offering insights into tourism management and planning.
