Reducing Obstacles for Small and Medium Enterprises Via Digitalisation: Albania’s Case

Within the framework of modern economic science, scientists are increasingly focusing on the role of small and medium-sized enterprises. This is determined by the many benefits they provide for the country’s development. Digitalisation is one of the opportunities that can make these structures function more efficiently. Therefore, an assessment of its possibilities for different countries is still relevant. The assessment was made for Albania in the research. The research aims to show the level of digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the country, as well as to provide recommendations for future policy development in this area. The main research methods used in the study were analysis, forecasting, abstraction. The study describes the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in Albania’s economic development and the importance of digitalisation in facilitating their growth. The study also surveyed more than 100 enterprises and based on selected statistics, described the relationship between marketing budget, years of existence and use of social media. The study also focused on the benefits of digital technologies for organisations, such as the automation of internal processes, and improved communication between the company and potential buyers (target audience). The study provides recommendations for further policymaking in small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) development based on the identified weaknesses of SME development in Albania. This study contributes new knowledge to the field of entrepreneurship development in countries, small and medium-sized companies. In addition, it provides a better understanding of the peculiarities of the Albanian economy.

The article is devoted to the main barriers to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. The main measures of state support for small and medium-sized enterprises are considered. The paper describes the category of "Small and medium–sized enterprises", examines the main criteria for classifying small and medium-sized enterprises, considers the bankruptcy problem and its prerequisites in the course of business activities of small and mediumsized enterprises. Methodological tools of the research: analysis of statistical sources of information and legislative documentation. As the study showed, the sustainable development of an enterprise largely depends on its ability to effectively manage its working capital. It is concluded that an important task of the state is not only to provide support to SMEs in the form of benefits and preferences, but also to carry out its activities as a business partner.

The relationship between Entrepreneurial Education and the Sustainable Development of SMEs in China: the mediating effect of Innovation Capability

This study explores the relationship between entrepreneurship education, innovation capabilities and the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises in China, especially the mediating effect of innovation capabilities. By analyzing questionnaire data from SMEs in different regions of China, this study uses SPSS 27 and Process Model 4 to verify the impact of entrepreneurship education on the sustainable development of SMEs and the mediating effect of innovation capabilities. The results show that entrepreneurship education significantly positively predicts innovation ability (β=0.691, p<0.001), and indirectly promotes the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises through innovation ability. The indirect effect accounts for 78.6% of the total effect, confirming the partial mediation of innovation ability. effect. In addition, the direct effect (β=0.152, p<0.001) also shows that entrepreneurship education has a direct positive impact on SMEs. These findings highlight the importance of entrepreneurship education in promoting corporate innovation capabilities and sustainable growth and provide policy makers with policy recommendations to enhance the innovation capabilities and sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has been recognized as one of the main motors of local economic growth in many countries, including at the village level. In a village context, MSMEs are often the backbone of the economy, creating jobs, increasing income, and strengthening social and cultural networks. However, to maximize the potential of MSMEs in increasing village profitability, real efforts are needed in education and skills development for business owners at the local level. The growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has an important role in developing the local economy, especially in rural areas. Villages are often places where a variety of local economic potential resides which can be utilized to improve community welfare. However, MSMEs at the village level often face various challenges, such as limited access to capital, limited managerial skills, and lack of knowledge about markets and technology. Education and skills development are the keys to overcoming these challenges and increasing the profitability of MSMEs in villages. By increasing the capacity of business owners and local economic actors, it is hoped that MSMEs can be more competitive, competitive and able to make a greater contribution to village economic growth.

This study aims to investigate the correlation between the implementation of working capital management practices and the financial performance of manufacturing firms in Rwanda, with a special focus on Kigali City. As stated by Daniel Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Alibaba, "We believe small is beautiful. When small businesses can grow faster and healthier, it benefits the whole society." The modern world recognizes industrialization as a key driver of economic growth, and the development of small and medium enterprises is considered vital for economic promotion, as they contribute significantly to the economic development of any country. Despite their immense potential, research indicates that SMEs often lack proper knowledge of working capital management practices, posing a threat to their survival. Managing key components of working capital like cash management, receivables, and inventories is of paramount importance. The study concluded that, there is a strong and significant correlation between the implementation of working capital management practices, particularly cash management, and overall financial performance.

Impact of Financial Management Practices on Performance Measurement of Small and Medium Enterprises in Tamil Nadu

Small and medium enterprise (SME) development is essential for India’s economic expansion. SME is an important participant in the development of accessories that supports major industries. The current study is focused on the variables impacting performance measurement in SMEs, despite the fact that many small and medium businesses are experiencing significant losses and closures as a result of poor performance. The next goal is to determine the connection between small and medium business performance management and financial management practices. This study uses SME performance measurement as a dependent variable. Risk management, working capital management and credit management are three independent factors that can be used to assess SME financial management practices. The questionnaire that was used for each item was based on the earlier research. A five-point Likert scale was used to score each item scale used in this investigation. Working people in a few districts in South Tamil Nadu, India and used online structured questionnaires to gather data. The present sample size of the study is 157. The statistical data analysis has been carried out employing jamovi 1.8. For factor loading, reliability, sample size, model fit, regression analysis for hypothesis testing and structural education modelling were used. Policymakers and SME entrepreneurs who are familiar with performance measurement of many elements can benefit from the study’s findings. The study found a relationship between SMEs’ performance measurement and financial management practices.

Innovation for environmental sustainability: business models for SMEs

PurposeAn effective business model (BM) is essential for the success of any company, with sustainable innovation being a critical component of this model. This entails finding creative ways to meet present needs without compromising future generations. In this regard, cooperation can be crucial in developing sustainable innovation. This paper investigates how different types of cooperation impact the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) innovation for environmental sustainability. In this sense, it intends to compare the effects of cooperation acquired nationally or at a European level.Design/methodology/approachThe methods used are logistic regression for the sample of 87,374 observations from 14 countries of the Eurostat Community Innovation Survey (CIS) database.FindingsThe results confirm that cooperation with national or European agents significantly impacts the innovation for environmental sustainability of SMEs; however, not all cooperations have the same significance level. At a national level, cooperation with the suppliers of equipment, materials, components or software, clients or customers and universities or other higher education institutes impacts the innovations for environmental sustainability developed by SMEs. At a European level, cooperation established with other enterprises within your enterprise group, equipment, materials, components or software suppliers, clients or customers and government, public or private research institutes significantly impacts innovations for environmental sustainability.Originality/valueThis study also provides substantial theoretical contributions on the subject and more information about the importance of cooperation by SMEs in developing innovation for environmental sustainability.

The Import Substitution Practices of Russia as a Model for the Nigerian Soft Drinks Market

The present study focuses on the issues of import substitution practices in Russia and Nigeria that can be useful in the current reality of the world economy. However, the Nigerian economy has great potential for import substitution in the current process of de-globalization. However, it is crucial to use the Russian experience. The study revealed that the comparison of Nigerian and Russian Soft drink markets is an excellent example of the drawbacks that can occur upon realizing protectionism governmental policies. Therefore, the paper recommends for import substitution policy that will promote economic diversification that supports local production and increases exports. The research concludes that import substitution policy can be successfully implemented if it is focused on economic growth and development of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the partnering countries.

Research on the impact and mechanisms of lean management on the green development of traditional small and micro manufacturing enterprises

AbstractTo achieve the “dual carbon” goals, manufacturing businesses must pursue green development. Compared to larger enterprises, the path towards green development is fraught with difficulties for the numerous traditional small and micro manufacturing enterprises. Lean thinking offers new solutions to the pain points and challenges of green development for these enterprises. However, existing research primarily focuses on large enterprises, with limited studies on traditional small and micro manufacturing enterprises; moreover, the conclusions on lean green development remain contentious and fail to effectively guide these enterprises through their green development bottlenecks. Therefore, this paper constructs a lean green development mechanism model for traditional small and micro manufacturing enterprises based on the grounded theory research method and the “resource‐behavior‐performance” model. It validates the model with empirical data from 333 traditional small manufacturing enterprises in China. The results show that in the actual development process of traditional small and micro enterprises, implementing lean organization and lean production significantly improves environmental performance, but the impact on economic performance is complex. Additionally, the influence of lean strategies on green development performance is not significant, not fully realizing their potential guiding role. Further in‐depth analysis of traditional small and micro manufacturing enterprises with a mature level of lean management reveals that as the level of lean management improves, the guiding effect of lean strategies begins to emerge; both lean organization and production have a significantly positive impact on economic performance. The findings are theoretically and practically significant for overcoming the green development challenges faced by traditional small and micro manufacturing enterprises, help to broaden the research scope of lean green development, and provide decision‐making and theoretical support for promoting the seamless implementation of lean green development in the traditional manufacturing sector.

PENGARUH PROMOSI TERHADAP KEBERHASILAN USAHA PELAKU UMKM

The development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has recently attracted theattention of the government, the local government has a very strategic role in growing thedevelopment of regional MSMEs, especially the Cirebon City Government. This study aims todetermine the influence of food product marketing on the business success of MSME actors.This research sample was obtained using purposive sampling techniques on food MSME actorslocated in the SME Mall in Cirebon city with a total of 55 people. Data collection usingGoogle Form questionnaire. This study used quantitative analysis with validity test, reliabilitytest, simple linear regression analysis test, partial test (T Test), coefficient of determination.The results showed that product marketing had a positive and significant effect on businesssuccess. The percentage of influence of food product marketing on the success of MSMEbusinesses in the SME Mall in Cirebon city can be interpreted that 30.2% and 69.8% areinfluenced by other variables that are not in the study.Keywords: product marketing, success, msme

The Inclusion of Women with Disabilities in Internal Savings and Lending Schemes (ISALS) by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, and Small and Medium Enterprises Development in Harare Metropolitan Province, Zimbabwe

Women with disabilities remain among the common social groups in communities that face sidelining and exclusion from development interventions, often referred to as the ‘unseen’ and ‘left behind’ group. Most research focuses on development initiatives for all women generally whilst following on interventions by the civil society to the relative exclusion of disabled women. Hence, this study was influenced by the need to examine the services of the government through the Ministry of Women Affairs in ensuring inclusion of women with disabilities in development initiatives in particular Internal Savings and Lending Schemes (ISALs) that are being carried out in Harare. The study was informed by the intersectionality approach and used a qualitative research approach in which a case study design was employed. The study involved fourteen participants who included women with disabilities, Community Development Officers/Coordinators (CDOs/ CDCs), Provincial Development Officer (PDO) and other professionals from disability rights agencies. Qualitative data was gathered through interviews, and findings were analyzed using thematic analysis. The major services that were found included mobilizing and training women in communities and monitoring ISAL activities. It was revealed that inclusion of women with disabilities in ISALS is still low and in gradual progression. The study also showed major challenges that the ministry faces in their efforts to include women with disabilities in ISALs, which include shortage of resources to fund reasonable accommodation and inclusive ISALS, lack of support from the families and communities of women with disabilities, stigmatization, and discrimination. The researchers went on to make recommendations towards the implementation of ISALS to promote full inclusion of women with disabilities.

Increasing the Effectiveness of the Learning Exchange Model: The Role of MSME Facilitators in the CIKEPO MSME Community

MSME facilitators are crucial in supporting the region's development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. MSME companions represent the 17th SDGS goal, namely partnerships to achieve goals (partnerships for the goals). This research aims to determine the effectiveness of learning exchange: The role of UMKM Facilitator in the CIKEPO Community of Cimahi City. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach—data collection techniques using interviews and documentation. MSME Facilitators have a role in encouraging awareness of MSME players in following the learning exchange process, which can improve skills. Also, MSME Facilitators provide education and training for MSME owners, including business management, marketing, and understanding local business regulations. Apart from that, MSME mentors also provide individual business guidance to help MSME owners identify potential and overcome the challenges they face.Keywords: MSME Companion, Learning Exchange

ECONOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES IN THE FIELD OF INNOVATION AND INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

This article represents a study of the dynamics of the development of the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) actively involved in the sphere of innovations and innovative technologies in the Russian Federation over the past decade from 2013 to 2023. Using comprehensive analysis of available data, through econometric modeling in the Gretl software environment, including governmental statistical reports, industry reviews, and scientific research, this study focuses on the evolution and dynamics of SMEs' development in this key sector, as well as on the factors influencing changes in their numbers. The results of the study will help better understand the trends and prospects of the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the innovation sphere in Russia, as well as identify key factors shaping their competitiveness and contribution to the innovation development of the economy. This work is important for specialists and researchers interested in the development of business in the innovation sector in Russia, as well as for decision-makers at the level of government policy aimed at supporting SMEs and stimulating the further development of their innovation activity.

This research highlights the long-term impact of economic events such as the 1990 crisis and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, emphasising the important role of government and community participation in managing an economy that still lacks synergy. This research aims to provide a better understanding of the role of local government in the economic dynamics of the community as well as the importance of community participation in economic development. The research method used is a document study with a qualitative approach. Data was obtained from various sources, including relevant laws and regulations, journals and reports. The qualitative approach allows an in-depth understanding of individual views on the issue under study. Local governments have great authority in managing economic resources in their regions, including budget management and development infrastructure, in accordance with Law No. 9/2015 on the Second Amendment to Law No. 23/2014 on Regional Government. However, local government intervention in the economy can also create new dynamics in the social structure and affect the distribution of wealth. Prudent economic policies from the government play a crucial role in economic development, through the creation of policies that support investment, incentives for the development of small and medium enterprises, and the provision of infrastructure that supports economic growth in the region. The importance of community participation and the implementation of policies that support regional autonomy are key to building an inclusive and sustainable economy.

The development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) requires a joint role in the environment from both regulators and other companies. The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) together with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs signed a memorandum of understanding to form a task force to monitor partnerships established between SMEs and large industries. This article explores the programs organized by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises for the development of MSMEs. Through literature and online research about company programs, researchers can compare them with government policy programs to analyze the accuracy of expert programs. The research results show that the joint Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) program can fulfill the policies of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs stipulated in the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan.
