Given Aceh's rich Islamic cultural traditions and foundations, reading the Quran is frequently regarded as a crucial prerequisite for future leaders in the area. The purpose of this study is to examine the significance of this skill in relation to politics, Islamic law, and customary law in Aceh. In order to provide a thorough knowledge of the problem from legal, social, cultural, and political perspectives, the study examines the perspectives of Acehnese society using empirical juridical research methods. It also reviews the pertinent legislation and the legal foundation. According to the research, the community expects leaders who comprehend and uphold Acehnese customary law and culture, and reading the Quran is considered a sign of good leadership abilities

LITERACY AND RISK MANAGEMENT ON A PERSON'S LEADERSHIP SKILL IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of literacy and risk management on a person's leadership skill in relation to entrepreneurship. This research approach employs quantitative analysis through deduction by statistically calculating a questionnaire that was distributed to 280 prospective entrepreneur and recent graduates. According to the findings, literacy and risk management variables have a major influence on leadership of an entrepreneur in a comprehensive manner, either partially or impartially. As a result, in entrepreneurship, it is vital to equalize these qualities in order to promote individual leadership, which will benefit a good corporate culture. In conclusion, entrepreneurial skill must focus on the development of the hard skill and soft skill including literacy and risk management that will give long-term benefits in order to maintain a healthy and friendly work culture.

Examining the Associations Between Calibration Accuracy and Executive Functions in Physical Education

<p style="text-align: justify;">This study examined students’ calibration of performance in a sport skill in relation to their performance in an executive functions test. A total of 265 students in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades participated in the study. The students took an executive functions test, and then they were tested on a basketball shooting test, after having provided a personal estimation regarding their performance. Based on students’ actual and estimated performance, the bias index was calculated to classify students into three categories; accurates, underestimators and overestimators, while the accuracy index (absolute values of the bias index) was also calculated. The results showed a positive but small magnitude relation between students’ scores in the executive functions test and their performance calibration, while accurate scored higher on the executive function test compared to over estimators and under estimators. These results are similar to those of previous studies with elementary school children that employed cognitive tasks and were discussed with reference to theoretical and empirical implications.</p>

A STUDY OF SOCIAL SKILLS IN RELATION TO SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

The present study was undertaken to examine the social skill in relation to social adjustment of secondary school students. 100 secondary school students were selected as a sample in this study. Social adjustment inventory questionnaire developed by Dr. Roma Pal (1985) and Matsons Evaluation of social skill with Youngster by Sharma (1997) were used for data collection. Mean, SD, t- test and Pearson product Moment correlation were used as statistical techniques to analyzed the data. The results of the study showed that there was positive relationship between social skill and social adjustment of secondary school students. THE SYLLABIC AWARENESS AND UPGRADING THE READING ABILITIES OF LEARNERS

Several studies have demonstrated the role of phonological awareness in developing the linguistic abilities of learners in general and reading skills in particular. since syllabic awareness is one of the most prominent components of phonological awareness, this article develops the hypothesis according to which syllables are functional phonological units that contribute to the process of learning the reading skill of primary school learners within the framework of didactical approach that adopts the syllabical reading method, as a didactical procedure that has a role in teaching reading skills. Accordingly, the article discussed dialectical importance of reading skill in relation to other language skills, and some weaknesses of reading among learners. The article also approached the orderly relationship between phonological awareness and reading skill, defining the Arabic syllable, syllabic structure and the role of syllabic reading in upgrading the reading abilities of learners, within the framework of flexible dialectical transfer of the data of this prosodic structure. Informed consent: perceptions and practice of orthopaedic trainees.

The purpose of informed consent is to provide patients with adequate information about a proposed plan or intervention, including the benefits and risks, so that they can make an informed decision about their medical treatment. The literature suggests that trainees are often delegated the task of obtaining consent with inadequate knowledge, skill or experience. The aim of this study is to determine the extent orthopaedic surgical trainees have been exposed to education about the informed consent, their perceived ability to obtain consent effectively and the frequency with which they routinely address elements of the process when consenting patients. An eight-item questionnaire assessing trainees' experience with informed consent was distributed to trainees undertaking Australian orthopaedic surgery training in 2019. Of the 239 trainees, 102 completed the questionnaire. Although 99% of trainees were confident that they can obtain valid consent from patients, when asked about aspects of the process, many trainees do not address them. Only 29% of trainees always ask patients about goals of care and 21% always advise the patient of who will be performing the procedure. Trainees who indicated that they had received education on informed consent during surgical training are significantly more likely to address key elements. Trainees' perceptions of their knowledge and skill in relation to informed consent does not align with their reported practice. Although the majority of trainees had received some education on informed consent, greater emphasis on explicit teaching and formal assessment should be undertaken during surgical training, prior to trainees completing this activity independently.

EFL Teacher's Perception on Reading Strategies Taught in High Schools

While reading activity is a complex phenomenon, recent research on reading strategies has not provided comprehensive explanation of the role and perceptions of teachers regarding appropriate reading strategies helping students with learning difficulties. This paper is aimed to provide a sketch of the teacher's views and strategies to facilitate students with appropriate reading strategies. EFL teachers have different kinds of reading strategies applied in the classrooms. This study has found that three groups of teachers teaching in excellent accredited public schools, good accredited public school and very good Islamic private school use various strategies during the teaching of reading. Teachers' perceptions on the teaching of reading strategies are closely related to their readiness with knowledge about reading strategies, students' reading problems and their belief. This study suggests that EFL teachers and future researchers need to continuously investigate effective teaching of reading skill in relation to students' reading strategies.

“Staying on task — how the concept of skill-challenge balance provides a key element to the teaching of the Meisner technique”

ABSTRACT This article presents how the concept of skill-challenge balance — derived from Csíkszentmihályi’s theory of Flow — can provide a key factor in the delivery and teaching of the Meisner technique as well as other actor training methods. The American acting practitioner Sanford Meisner’s foundational actor training focuses on the redirection of attention, to keep the actor present and less self-conscious. His exercises are presented in a way that encourages external attention to be sustained by using a logical step-by-step process and gradually increasing the difficulty – either when the students’ skills develop or when the exercise becomes automated. The article offers evidence that different attentional networks are activated depending on how much attention is directed to task, which rests on the challenge-skill balance being continually adjusted for the actor to sustain task-focus and avoid mind wandering. This demonstrates that finding the balance between skill and challenge in relation to task, while layering the exercises in an extended developmental training-process, is integral to the Meisner method. As an acting tutor, the concept of skill-challenge balance has greatly influenced my own practice, as well as solidified the importance of the teacher’s ability to acknowledge the student’s understanding and growth. By focusing on the individual and the personal aspect of the skill-challenge balance, highlights not only the importance of seeing this balance as something fluid – needing constant re-evaluation and adaptation – but also as a something that should be adhered to in any forms of vocational teaching and development. .

Developing of Higher Order Thinking Skill in Relation and Function to Support Student’s Creative Thinking

This study aimed to produce the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)’ questions of relation and function material that had validity and practicality and also had potential effect to support student’s creative thinking. This research was a descriptive research with design research method and development study type. The questions of relation and function material developed based on characteristics of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions and followed stages of development study, such as: self evaluation, experts review, one-to-one, small group and field test. The subjects of this research were 38 students of eight grader from SMP Negeri 17 Palembang. They participated on one-to-one, small group and field test. Data collected using walkthroughs, interviews, questionnaires and tests. Validity of questions knew form experts review result based on content, construct and language. Practicality of questions knew from small group result about student’ understanding of purpose of questions and procedural of answering questions. Potential effect did known by test on field test stage. The result showed the HOTS’ questions of relation and function material truly supported student’s creative thinking.

Using sexual health and safety education to protect against child sexual abuse in residential care: The LINC model

AbstractChildren and young people living in residential care are vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there is scant evidence about what sexuality education could help address this vulnerability. This paper explores the impact of the Power to Kids: Respecting Sexual Safety programme, which involved capacity‐building workers to have ‘brave conversations’ with children and young people in residential care. The aim of the study was to capture the perceptions of workers about changes in their skill and confidence levels in relation to having brave conversations with children and young people and the impact of those conversations on children and young people. A mixed‐methods study was undertaken, involving multiple sets of interviews with 27 workers associated with four residential houses. The qualitative and quantitative data analysis showed that workers perceived the impact of the capacity building and brave conversations as strengthening protective factors available to children and young people vulnerable to sexual abuse. The research revealed the ‘LINC model’ as a viable approach to capacity‐building workers to educate children and young people in residential care about sexual health and safety. Workers perceived the enhancement of the following protective factors: stronger safe relationships, greater comfort disclosing abuse and improved knowledge of normal versus harmful sexual behaviour.

Evaluation of Overall Performance of Faculty Members by Using Self-Assessment Method

INTRODUCTION 
 The quality of teaching–learning process at medical college depends mainly of infrastructure that includes competent personnel, optimal teaching space and equipment in accordance with existing standards and norms.Faculty hence remains the cornerstone of overall academic performance of institution. Faculty evaluation and faculty development training strengthens further academic excellence. Self-assessment of their own teaching performance by faculties is highly efficient for further academic improvement and enhancement.
 MATERIAL AND METHODS
 A Cross sectional, prospective study was conducted among 134 faculty members of various departments at Universal Medical College and Teaching Hospital (UCMS), Bhairahawa in month of June 2019. Faculty from clinical, basic, dental and nursing sciences were included in this study. Assessment were done with standard questionnaire with 8 different variables was using the Likert scale. A semi-structured self-administered questionnaire was used for collection of data. All the respondents provided opinion regarding level of skill, level of dependability, skill in patient relation, commitment to organization, efficiency to organize work, overall quality deliver to workplace, productivity, level of team work by a 5 points rating scale. They were provided with questionnaire and they are asked to fill form with using self-assessment methods. Data were analyzed using Microsoft excel and represented as frequency and proportion.
 RESULTS
 A total of 134 lecturers from various faculties participated in this study. Majority of participants (40%) are from basic sciences. In this study majority of faculties assessed themselves as competent in regards of skill (12%), clinical faculties find themselves efficient in regard of organization of work schedule. Sixteen participants found themselves dependent on others in their work. When they were asked to rate their patient related skills, six members from basic sciences were unsatisfied while all the clinicians find that they meet the job requirement and expectations. All participants believe in team work and majority of them were committed towards the organization.
 CONCLUSION 
 The self-assessment by faculty themselves is equally effective to plan faculty development programs for further improvement and enhancement.

The Play of Champions: Toward a Theory of Skill in eSport

ABSTRACT This article advances a tentative theory of skill in relation to eSports. This conjectural theory of skill rests on hypothesizes informed by assumptions from watching 100+ hours of eSport events on Twitch, YouTube, and AfreecaTV and is supported by discussions, reflections and evaluations with eSport players. The case material of this article includes the games Clash Royale (CR), StarCraft 2 (SC2), Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), and online battle arenas (mobas) such as League of Legends (LOL) and Defense of the Ancient 2 (DOTA2). This inferred theory of skill is conjoined and composed of seven strands, which provide a framework for explaining how to understand skill in eSport. These seven strands are presented under the headings: (1) knowledge about game objects, (2) insights into game systems, (3) understanding metagaming, (4), yomi: ‘reading’ the opponent, (5) ability to execute, (6) emotional discipline, and finally (7) team coherency (depending upon whether the skill is associated with a one-versus-one or team-versus-team game). In conclusion, the proposed theory of skill will expose its explanatory power and reach by providing an example of how it can both be implemented to create profiles of players’ skill, and how these profiles in turn can serve as guides to help players improve their skill levels in eSport.

Knowledge and Skill in Relation to the Speed and Accuracy of the Nurses When Assessing Using an Early Warning System (EWS)

Introduction: Errors when filling in or interpreting the results of the EWS assessment causes delays and inaccuracies for the nurses when providing a clinical response. The aim of this study was to explain the relationship between the nurse’s knowledge and skill with the speed and accuracy of the nurse when assessing via EWS.Methods: This study used a correlation design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 104 nurses working in the inpatient ward of internal medicine according to the inclusion criteria. The sample was obtained through purposive sampling. The independent variable was the nurses’ knowledge and skill while the dependent variable was the nurse’s speed and accuracy when assessing using the EWS. The instruments used were questionnaires and observation sheets. The data was analyzed using Spearman Rho.Results: The results of the study showed that there was a very strong correlation between the knowledge-accuracy of the nurses when assessing using the EWS (r = 0.805; p = 0.000) and the nurse's skill-accuracy when assessing using the EWS (r = 0.823; p = 0.000). There was a strong correlation between the knowledge-speed of nurses assessing using the EWS (r = 0.269; p = 0.006) and the nurse's skill and speed when assessing using the EWS (r = 0.262; p = 0.007).Conclusion: The nurse’s knowledge and skill has a stronger relationship with accuracy when assessing using the EWS when compared to the nurses' speed.

‘I’m probably just gonna skim’: an assessment of undergraduate students’ primary scientific literature reading approaches

ABSTRACT We investigated undergraduate students’ approaches to reading primary scientific literature (PSL). Self-report surveys and think-aloud reading interviews were used to uncover students’ approaches to PSL with respect to evidence finding, prioritisation of paper sections, and reading skill in relation to task context. Self-report and observational interview data were also analysed to investigate the relationship between students’ self-reported and actual reading approaches. Our findings indicate that undergraduate students exhibit a spectrum of approaches to evidence finding, that many use pre-interpreted text to make meaning of PSL, and that student reading approaches are enhanced by task context. Data also indicate a misalignment between students’ self-reported and actual reading approaches, with students generally over-confident in their abilities. We interpret these findings using deep vs. surface learning criteria and the Structure Building Model (SBM) of reading comprehension. Our exploratory research extends the small body of literature on student PSL reading and indicates that more in-depth work needs to be done to support the development of educational interventions aimed at enhancing student reading approaches.

The Relationship between Numerical Precision and Forecast Lead Time in the Lorenz’95 System

Abstract We test the impact of changing numerical precision upon forecasts using the chaotic Lorenz’95 system. We find that in comparison with discretization and numerical rounding errors, the dominant source of errors are the initial condition errors. These initial condition errors introduced into the Lorenz’95 system grow exponentially at a rate according to the leading Lyapunov exponent. Given this information we show that the number of bits necessary to represent the system state can be reduced linearly in time without significantly affecting forecast skill. This is in addition to any initial reduction in precision to that of the initial conditions and also implies the potential to reduce some storage costs. An approach to vary precision locally within simulations, guided by the direction of eigenvectors of the growth and decay of forecast error (the “singular vectors”), did not show a satisfying impact upon forecast skill in relation to cost savings that could be achieved with a uniform reduction of precision. The error in a selection of ECMWF forecasts as a function of the number of bits used to store them indicates that precision might also be reduced in operational systems.

Current trends of the serve skill in relation to the in-game roles of the elite volleyball players: Comparison between genders

The aim of this study was to investigate the current trends of the serve skill for each one of the in-game roles of the players for both genders in high-level volleyball. The serve actions of male (M) and female (F) elite players from 20 volleyball games (M = 10, F = 10) of the final phase World League 2018 were assessed. The analysed variables were comprised of the serve type, the serving area (SA), the serve direction, the in-game role of the server and the serve performance. Results showed that men mainly preferred the power jump serve from the areas behind zones 1 (SA1) and 6 (SA6), while they directed them to the back of the court and made more mistakes than women. Women preferred the floating jump serve directed to the left central part of the court. Regarding the in-game roles of the men, the receivers-attackers and the middle-attackers carried out their serves from SA1 and SA6 more frequently compared to women who preferred to use the serve area behind zone 5 (SA5) more frequently than men. Additionally, women opposites and setters chose to use the SA1 more frequently and the SA5 and SA6 less frequently in comparison to their men counterparts.

The effect of diabetes self-management education, based on the health belief model, on the psychosocial outcome of type 2 diabetic patients in Indonesia

Lack of knowledge on disease management may distress type 2 diabetic patients, which could negatively affect their quality of life. The health belief model has been widely used to improve the patient’s knowledge, skill, and abilities in relation to self-care. The study aimed to examine the effect of diabetes self-management education, based on the Health Belief Model (HBM), on the psychosocial outcome (self-efficacy, self-care behaviour, distress, and quality of life), and glycemic control (measured by their blood glucose level). A randomised control trial was employed, using a pre-test-post-test design. Our study recruited 120 type 2 diabetic patients who were equally assigned to the intervention group (n= 60) and the control group (n=60). The data was analysed using an independent t test with a significance level of 0.05. After the intervention, the intervention group and control group showed significantly different scores in self-efficacy, self-care behaviour, diabetes distress, quality of life, and blood glucose level. Diabetes self-management education based on the HBM had a significant effect on the phycosocial outcome of patients with type 2 diabetes.

Criterion‐related validity of two curriculum‐based measures of mathematical skill in relation to reading comprehension in secondary students

AbstractThis study analyzed the relationship between benchmark scores from two curriculum‐based measurement probes in mathematics (M‐CBM) and student performance on a state‐mandated high‐stakes test. Participants were 298 students enrolled in grades 7 and 8 in a rural southeastern school. Specifically, we calculated the criterion‐related and predictive validity of benchmark scores from CBM probes measuring math computation and math reasoning skills. Results of this study suggest that math reasoning probes have strong concurrent and predictive validity. The study also provides evidence that calculation skills, while important, do not have strong predictive strength at the secondary level when a state math assessment is the criterion. When reading comprehension skill is taken into account, math reasoning scores explained the greatest amount of variance in the criterion measure. Computation scores explained less than 5% of the variance in the high‐stakes test, suggesting that it may have limitations as a universal screening measure for secondary students.

The role of skill in sport

Skill is obviously a central part of sports and should therefore be central in sport philosophic studies. My aim in this paper is to try to place skill in a wider context and thus give skill the place it deserves. I will do this by taking up four points. I first try to place the concept of skill in relation to concepts like ability and know how. I argue that ability is something one has as part of a natural endowment, but skill is something one must acquire. ‘Knowing how’ seems to a greater extent to demand a cognitive grasp and is thus more than a skill. My second point is about development of skills toward expertise and the role of thinking and consciousness. When one is exercising a skill does one need to be conscious of what one is doing or can one act like a zombie and perform non-consciously? I argue that expertise demands know how and conscious thinking. My third point is about the role of skills in sport competitions. What we measure in sports are different sporting skills as they are displayed by and through the body. This does not mean that other factors, like motivation, courage, or strategic thinking are not involved. But what we see and what we measure when the sprinter crosses the goal line is not the courage but the skillful body. My fourth point is about skills and normativity. Should sports, and consequently sporting skills, promote ethical and esthetical values? A neutral view would imply that we can accept and admire the skill part of diving in football even if the purpose is bad. A normative view would imply that skill and purpose are intertwined. I here argue that diving skill is diving-specific and thus not morally neutral.
