The article provides an analytical assessment of the consequences of violations of industrial and fire safety rules during repair work on the example of main oil pipelines. The issue is urgent due to explosions and fires, as well as staff injuries, which requires an analysis and assessment of the causes of their occurrence and reliability improvement during repair work at hazardous production facilities in Irkutsk region. The factual basis of the study is data on incidents related to the personnel training and repair sites, explosions (pops), the dynamics of the emergency situation and consequences for personnel and the economy. The study concludes that in terms of eliminating explosions and fires and minimizing their consequences, the industrial and fire safety system has not been properly developed for repair and other works at hazardous production facilities.
