Study on Simulation of Injection Process and Optimization of Process Parameters of Polypropylene Bottle Embryo

The purpose of this paper is to obtain the best process parameters of polypropylene bottle injection molding. This paper obtained the gating system of polypropylene bottle embryo by using MOLDFLOW according to the structural characteristics of polypropylene bottle embryo, and optimized the process parameters by using taguchi method within the reasonable range of process parameters. In this paper, six parameters about time, pressure and temperature were selected as factors for the mold flow analysis of polypropylene bottle embryo injection molding, and there were four levels in every factor. The volume shrinkage, sink index and residual stress in the first and second directions in the cavity were selected as evaluation indexes. In order to reduce evaluation indexes, the signal to noise ratio of each factor and each level were calculated, and the adjustable factors were adjusted to obtain the minimum evaluation indexes and optimal combination of process parameters. The optimum process parameters such as melt temperature 200°C, molding temperature 20°C, injection pressure 50Mpa, injection time 2.1s,dwell pressure 44Mpa, dwell time 40s were gained.

Injection process design for manufacturing of bicycle plastic bottle holder using CAx tools

Abstract The purpose of the paper is to present the design of new bicycle plastic bottle holder and injection process simulation. The model of plastic bottle holder was designed and simulated to determine injection parameters in SolidWorks environment. Based on main part’s 3D m0del the mold tool was created. From the virtual testing the most suitable injection point location, material temperature as well as fill time and required injection pressure have been specified.

Numerical simulation of injection process of warm carbon dioxide into layer saturated with methane and its hydrate

In this article, in a flat-one-dimensional approximation, a mathematical model is presented for injecting warm carbon dioxide into a methane hydrate formation of finite length. It is established that the model of formation of hydrate of carbon dioxide in the absence of an area saturated with methane and water, under certain parameters, leads to thermodynamic contradiction. The mathematical model of carbon dioxide injection with formation of the region saturated with methane and water is constructed.

One-dimensional modeling and simulation of injection processes of bioethanol-biodiesel and bioethanol-diesel fuel blends

This paper presents the development of a complete simulation model for a mechanical in-line injection system feed with diesel, biodiesel, bioethanol fuel blends. The mathematical model is built by using the AVL Boost™ Hydsim software, while the required input data is carefully derived by making use of existing data as well as formulas and numerical procedures described in this work. This setup enables relatively efficient formulation and set-up of the mathematical model as well as consistent and reasonably accurate derivation of input data.The derived model is used to simulate the injection processes of various bioethanol-biodiesel and bioethanol-diesel fuel blends. The simulation results are compared to experimental data obtained on a Friedman-Maier type 12H100_h test bed at ambient temperature and several operating regimes. The results show that the compared injection pressure and needle lift histories are generally in a good agreement with the experimental ones. Consequently, the simulation model presented is fast and accurate enough to be engaged in various numerical procedures, ranging from investigations of influences of bioethanol addition to injection system optimization.

The dual-fuel CFD combustion model with direct and indirect CNG injection

A proper design of the compression ignition engine fuel system requires various fuel injection methods analysis. Direct and indirect CNG injection process simulation research was conducted. The results allow a mixture homogeneity analysis and its impact on combustion process and heat transfer. For an indirect injection the injector is placed in intake channel and the injection is performed during an intake stroke. For a direct injection the specially designed injector is installed in the glow plug position. The analysed case is set for 20% energetic ratio of diesel fuel and 80% of methane fuel. In order to perform the calculations a special combustion model has been implemented that allows duel-fuel combustion in a compression ignition engine.

ASSESSMENT OF THE DIAGNOSTIC SUITABILITY OF NET THERMAL EFFICIENCY OF MARINE DIESEL ENGINE

This article applies to searching for symptoms and diagnostic parameters pointing in a deterioration in the quality of the combustion process in marine diesel engines. It was assumed that diagnostic parameters should give clear information regardless of engine load or with respect to the mean indicated pressure. The proposed cycle and sectional net thermal (heat) efficiency characteristics and also dimensionless net heat release rate were analysed. In order to obtain the state of deterioration of the injection process simulation of discalibration (larger diameter) of injector holes was performed. The simulation was carried out by the enlarged of diameter of the injector holes form 0.375 mm to 0.385 mm. Deterioration of the formation and growth of fuel spray droplet diameter is result of such simulation. The study was conducted on a laboratory engine Sulzer Al25/30. The study was carried out according to active experiment plan, during which the selected engine failure of the injection system was simulated. Measurements of pressure of combustion were performed by means of tensometric sensors of Spice Company on the indicator valve. The analysis found that in the event of injector nozzle faults (discalibrated holes) significantly decreases the net thermal efficiency K c cycle, and there are significant oscillations of net heat release rate K q. The research was preliminary and is expected to further studies to confirm the obtained results.

Deep-Hole Drilling Negative Pressure Device Injection Process Simulation Analysis Based on Fluent

In the process of DF system machining the small diameter deep hole, the working parameters of negative pressure device has a great influence, including injection coefficient, chip removal of cross-sectional area ratio, discharge pressure, negative pressure number, etc. Injection coefficient has the non-linear proportional relationship with chip removal of cross-sectional area ratio, with the increasing incidence of negative pressure discharge pressure increases, as well as, increasing negative pressure number to improve chip removal have a good effect. Movement patterns of cutting fluid is simulated, energy loss of cutting fluid in the flow is studied, finding curved edge nozzle has better negative effects than straight edge nozzle. The effect of negative pressure pumping crumbs is analyzed, the injection process of negative pressure device is simulated, and the form of the fluid motion in negative pressure nozzle is got based on Fluent, which have a good guide for the actual production and machining.

A Case of Occupational Asthma in a Plastic Injection Process Worker

ObjectivesWe report a case of death due to asthma attack in a plastic injection process worker with a history of asthma.MethodsTo assess task relevance, personal history including occupational history and medical records were reviewed. Samples of the substances utilized in the injection process were collected by visiting the patient’s workplace. The work environment with the actual process was reproduced in the laboratory, and the released substances were evaluated.ResultsThe medical records confirmed that the patient’s conventional asthma was in remission. The analysis of the resins discharged from the injection process simulation revealed styrene, which causes occupational asthma, and benzenepropanoic acid, 3,5-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-hydroxy-, and octadecyl ester. Even though it was not the case in the present study, various harmful substances capable of inducing asthma such as formaldehyde, acrolein, and acetic acid are released during resin processing.ConclusionA worker was likely to occur occupational asthma as a result of the exposure to the harmful substances generated during the plastic injection process.

Modeling of high speed RTM injection with highly reactive resin with on-line mixing

Structural composite manufacturing in automotive industry tends towards short cycle times for being competitive with other material solutions. Development towards resin transfer molding process can be considered when highly reactive resin with short curing cycle is used. Mixing of the resin system components is then held at the mold inlet to reduce catalyzed resin life time. Cure kinetics and viscosity changes induced during filling are thus to be taken into account when injection process simulation is considered. In the case of on-line mixing of resin components, viscosity and degree of cure of the first injected resin droplets are not the same than for the following ones. This topic will be addressed here for mixed constant flow rate and pressure injection schemes. A solution that could be implemented in a RTM simulation package was developed and validated with an analytical solution and on a complex shape automotive part demonstrator.
