A Revolutionary Approach to Imparting English Language Skills

It is universally acknowledged that a command over spoken and written English is a sinequanon of success, professional or personal. The methods, principles and techniques adopted in schools and colleges in non-native English countries, not to speak of India, have not met the expected success in equipping students with the requisite linguistic skills to express themselves through speaking and writing. So many discussions have taken place among scholarly circles to address the lacunae resulting in the formulation of various methods like the Grammar Translation Method, the Direct Method, The Audio-Lingual Method, the Silent Way, the Bilingual Method, Community Language Learning, Communicative Language Teaching Approach, Structure Approach and Situational Approach. In the luxuriant of these numerous methods, the right approach becomes conspicuous by its absence in other words all these approaches will only help the learner be confused in acquiring English language competence. This rather gloomy picture has made the writer of this paper seek a solution to the problem resulting in his invention of an easy approach on the part of English language teachers in imparting English communication skills.

Caring touch as communication in intensive care nursing: a qualitative study

ABSTRACT Purpose This article describes intensive care nurses` experiences of using communicative caring touch as stroking the patient`s cheek or holding his hand. Our research question: “What do intensive care nurses communicate through caring touch?” Methods In this qualitative hermeneutically based study data from two intensive care units at Norwegian hospitals are analysed. Eight specialist nurses shared experiences through individual, semi-structured interviews. Results The main theme, Communicating safety and presence has four sub-themes: Amplified presence, Communicating security, trust and care, Creating and confirming relationships and Communicating openness to a deeper conversation. Communicative caring touch is offered from the nurse due to the patient`s needs. Caring touch communicates person-centred care, invites to relationship while respecting the patient’s dignity as a fellow human being. Caring touch conveys a human initiative in the highly technology environment. Conclusion Caring touch is the silent way to communicate care, hope, strength and humanity to critical sick patients. This article provides evidence for a common, but poorly described phenomenon in intensive care nursing.

Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris Melalui Metode Silent Way Untuk Meningkatkan Kosa Kata Perawat Dalam Kemampuan Berbicara Bahasa Inggris Di Rumah Sakit

The silent way English language training was carried out at the Nurul Hasanah Kutacane Hospital. This silent way English language training aims to improve basic English skills for hospital employees. This English training method uses the silent way method. English language training using the silent method is used so that hospital employees can practice English language skills in medical sciences that will be used in the world of work. This English language training using the silent method was carried out thanks to collaboration between Nurul Hasanah Kutacane University and Nurul Hasanah Kutacane Hospital. This English language training is to assess evaluation using Quasy-Experiment (pre-experimental designs) with a design using one group pretest-posttest, where in this design there is no comparison group (control), but the first observation (pretest) has been carried out which allows the team to examine changes that occur after an experiment or posttest. The results obtained by the community service team showed significant changes in English language training through the silent way method to increase nurses' vocabulary in speaking English in hospitals.

Problem of this research is that there are still many students who stutter in Arabic vocabulary because the vocabulary is too Arabic or the means used by the teacher such and cannot attract students interest this research aims to find out the effectiveness of using the silent way method in teaching vocabulary among the students of the seven semester in the Islamic intermediate school al hukumiyah 1 solok al janubiyah students from the semester a. As the experimental class 30 students in the seventh semester (b) as the control class the research tool used in this research tools used in this research are observation the writers analyzed the data using natural test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test (independent sample test). Research, the researcher decided that the difference is in the degree of the two classes, so that the T of the sap is 2,629 greater than the T of the 5% table is 2,024. And the sig-2 tailed is 58, less than 0,05 the researcher summed up that the nuul hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted, meaning that there is an effectivenees of using the silent method in teaching vocabulary among students of the seventh semester 1 islamic intermediate school al-hakamiyah 1 solok al-janubiyah.

Silent Way Method Sebagai Alternatif Pembelajaran Maharatul Istima’

This study examines the application of the Silent Way method (At-Thariqah Al-Shamitah) in Arabic language learning, with a focus on enhancing students' maharatul istima’ (listening skills). The Silent Way method, which emphasizes the active role of students in the learning process and limits teacher intervention, is used to improve listening skills through Arabic language instruction. This research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach consisting of three cycles: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In each cycle, the teacher applies Silent Way strategies, observes student progress, and makes continuous improvements based on observation results. The study results show that the application of the Silent Way method significantly improves students' listening abilities in Arabic language learning. Data were obtained from pre- and post-cycle tests, classroom observations, and student feedback. Data analysis indicates an increase in the average maharatul istima’ scores and an improvement in student engagement and motivation in the learning process. The study concludes that the Silent Way method is effective in enhancing students' listening skills and recommends this method as an alternative strategy in Arabic language instruction.

Can the Inclusion of a Vegetable Biocholine Additive in Pig Feed Contaminated with Aflatoxin Reduce Toxicological Impacts on Animal Health and Performance?

(1) Background: This study's objective was to determine whether adding vegetable biocholine (VB) to pigs' diets would minimize the negative effects caused by daily aflatoxin (B1 + B2) intake. (2) Methods: We used seventy-two whole male pigs weaned at an average of 26 days and divided them into four groups with six replicates each (2 × 2 factorial). The treatments were identified as Afla0VB0 (negative control, without aflatoxin and without VB); Afla500VB0 (positive control, 500 µg/kg of aflatoxins; Afla0VB800 (800 mg/kg of VB); and Afla500VB800 (500 µg/kg of aflatoxin +800 mg/kg of VB). (3) Results: In the first 20 days of the experiment, only the pigs from Afla500VB0 had less weight gain and less feed consumption, different from the 30th to 40th day, when all treatments had lower performance than the negative control. In the liver, higher levels of oxygen-reactive species and lipid peroxidation were observed in Afla500VB0, associated with greater activity of the enzymes alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase. In the jejunum, oxidative stress was associated with nitrous stress in Afla500VB0. An increase in splenic glutathione S-transferase activity in the Afla500VB800 animals was observed. (4) Conclusions: Consuming a diet contaminated with 500 µg/kg of aflatoxin influences the health and performance in the nursing phase in a silent way; however, it generates high economic losses for producers. When VB was added to the pigs' diet in the face of an aflatoxin challenge, it showed hepatoprotective potential.

The Effect of Using Silent Way Towards Students’ Vocabulary Mastery

<p align="center"><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p class="abstrak">This research was due to some problems, the 7<sup>th</sup>-grade students of MTsS PPM Diniyyah Pasia have a limited amount of vocabulary and the teacher used the conventional method where the students focused on listening to the explanation of the teacher. This research was about finding out the effect of using silent ways on students’ vocabulary mastery at the 7<sup>th</sup> grade in MTsS PPM Diniyyah Pasia. This research used experimental research. The researcher used a quasi-experimental design employing pre-test and post-test control designs. The population of this research was at the seventh grade of MTsS PPM Diniyyah Pasia. The sample was VII.2 which was treated as the experimental class and VII.4 was treated as the control class. The findings in this research showed that the t-obtained (-7.951) was lower than the t-table (-1.667). In other words, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that there was a significant effect of using The Effect of Using silent ways on students‘ vocabulary ability. Then, the calculation of post-test of both classes showed that the experimental and control classes obtained (-4.587) were lower than t-table (-1.667). It can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that there is a significant difference between using silent way and using conventional technique. Thus, it can be concluded that the entire hypothesis is accepted. It is proved that the use of silent ways of learning vocabulary can help the students master the vocabulary well.</p><p class="abstrak" align="left"> </p><p class="abstrak" align="center"><strong>Abstrak </strong></p><p> </p><p><em>Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa masalah, yaitu siswa kelas 7 MTsS PPM Diniyyah Pasia memiliki jumlah kosakata yang terbatas dan guru masih menggunakan metode konvensional di mana siswa hanya fokus mendengarkan penjelasan guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode silent way terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas 7 MTsS PPM Diniyyah Pasia. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian eksperimen. Peneliti menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain kontrol pretest dan posttest. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII MTsS PPM Diniyyah Pasia. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas VII.2 yang diperlakukan sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII.4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa t-hitung (-7,951) lebih kecil dari t-tabel (-1,667). Sehingga hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima yang berarti terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan metode silent way terhadap kemampuan kosakata siswa. Kemudian, perhitungan post-test kedua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol diperoleh t hitung (-4,587) lebih kecil dari t tabel (-1,667). Sehingga, hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara menggunakan metode silent way dan menggunakan metode konvensional. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa seluruh hipotesis diterima. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa penggunaan metode silent way dalam pembelajaran kosakata dapat membantu siswa menguasai kosakata dengan baik.</em></p><p class="abstrak"> </p>

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING SILENT WAY METHOD WITH SPELLING GAME IN IMPROVING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of the silent way with spelling games can improve students’ vocabulary in the eighth grade of SMPN 8 Palu or not. The knowledge of the English language in the eighth grade of SMP 8 Palu is still low, especially in vocabulary. This research aims to obtain empirical evidence about the effect of using the silent way method with spelling games. The population were all eighth-grade students of SMP 8 Palu. The sample were 44 students. The research employs a quasi-experimental design. In the experimental class, the researcher used the silent way method with a spelling game, and in the control class, the researcher used the conventional method strategy (memorizing). The researcher used an instrument in the form of multiple choice and matching tests. The instrument was given in pre-test and post-test. The finding indicated that there was a different score of the final significant mean between the classes, the serve of the experimental class was 73,40 while the final mean of the control class was 63,6. The hypothesis test shows that significant level of 5 % t-test 4,255 > t-table 1,682 so, it can be stated that H0 (Null hypothesis) was rejected and Ha (Alternative hypothesis) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the Silent Way method with the Spelling Game was effective in improving students’ vocabulary in the eighth grade at SMP 8 Palu in the academic year 2021/2022.

WHEN WALLS BECOME SILENT BATTLEGROUNDS: DECIPHERING COLLEGE STUDENTS’ GRAFFITI WRITINGS ON SCHOOL CAMPUS WALLS

Although graffiti has become a significant cultural and linguistic phenomenon and has been studied throughout history, there is still room for the exploration of how graffiti in different contexts, particularly in a higher education institution, serves to voice the anonymous student writers’ thoughts and feelings. Thus, this study examines the common themes and the lexical and syntactic features of college students’ graffiti writings on the walls of a state college in Zamboanga del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines. Employing thematic analysis, this study reveals that students’ graffiti writings contain a variety of themes such as love, discrimination, self and group identities, hatred, sex, faith and religion, management, education, and fanaticism, with love and discrimination as the most prevailing social themes. Students’ graffiti writings also exemplify distinct lexical features such as loan and swear words, taboo words/expressions, abbreviations, ironies, acronyms, repetitions, and compound words. Borrowings and using offensive or swear words are the most common lexical features found among these graffiti writings. In addition, students often use brief or terse statements to clearly express their thoughts and feelings to the public. Indeed, graffiti writings are a distinctive and silent way of communication, particularly for students who are in the marginalised section of any society.

The Silent Way Method in Learning Arabic

The Silent Way method (al-tharīqah al-Shāmitah) was discovered by a language learning expert named Caleb Gattegno (1972), who applied philosophy and cognitivism principles in his learning. This study aims to determine the extent to which the Silent Way method can be used in learning Arabic. This research was conducted by library research by collecting some empirical documents. The results of this study reveal that in using the Silent Way method, an educator must speak a little during the learning process in class. But that does not mean not doing anything during the learning process. Using various learning media, this method is based on a rule that educators should be silent so that students can express their opinions as widely as possible.

TESTING DESIGNER METHODS RELEVANCE IN THE 21ST CENTURY TEACHING IN MOROCCAN SECONDARY EDUCATION

The current study investigates the relevance and viability of five teaching methods in the 21st-century teaching context. They are usually referred to as ‘Designer Methods’, and those are Suggestopedia, The Silent Way, Community Language Learning, Total Physical Response, and The Natural Approach. These methods are relics from the recent past that witnessed the proliferation of different teaching approaches and methods. They have left a plethora of practices that promised, according to advocators, impressive results. The goal here is not to resurrect them but to show that maybe they have never been put to rest. The current study is therefore intended to find out whether these practices are still in use in English language classrooms and, once confirmed, to measure the frequency of their use. After conducting a survey questionnaire that targeted high school teachers of English language in the city of Marrakesh in Morocco, the relevance and viability of these methods through their inherent practices, based on the collected data, proved undeniable. Caring touch in intensive care nursing: a qualitative study

ABSTRACT Background Historically, caring touch was integrated in targeted nursing acts as shoulder massage, calming patients or to check vital parameters by touching the patient`s skin. However, this phenomenon in intensive care nursing still lacks convincing descriptions. Caring touch is an important part of being an intensive care nurse and confirming the patient`s dignity. To touch the patient`s skin is a common nursing act, but not much spoken of. Caring touch on the patient`s chin, holding hands or giving a hug has earlier been called e.g., non-procedural touch. Purpose Explore the meaning of caring touch as it appeared for Norwegian intensive care nurses. Methods Secondary analysis of data from qualitative, individual semi-structured interviews. Eight experienced intensive care nurses at public Norwegian non-university hospitals. Registered by the Norwegian Center for Research data NSD December 2014. ID 41164. Findings Data analysis revealed one main-theme: The speaking body, with four sub-themes 1) Eyes and facial expressions, 2) Patients emotional expressions, 3) Closeness and distance, 4) ICU nurses’ emotional responses. Conclusion Caring touch is a silent way of showing culturally competent care and establish or continue nurse-patient relationships in intensive care units. Caring touch contributes to heighten ethical dimensions of dignity in intensive care nursing.

INTEGRATING MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES THEORY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

Nine types of multiple intelligence theories are proposed by Gardner (1999), which include the following: verbal-linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, and existential. Since all these types of intelligence are on an equal footing, educators can use various strategies to help students develop their full potential. Silent Way, Suggestopedia, CLT, etc., are some methods used to incorporate multiple intelligence into teaching and learning activities. However, the use of multiple intelligence in learning English is still rare. This results in teachers not using the most effective methods for teaching and learning the English language. Following the steps outlined in this paper can help teachers integrate at least some of these nine types of intelligence. This paper provides teachers with new ideas for improving the quality of teaching and learning through multiple intelligence. This paper attempts to answer the following questions: 1) What exactly is multiple intelligence, and how can it be encouraged? 2) In the context of teaching English as a foreign language, what methods are most effective in fostering multiple intelligences? This study is descriptive qualitative work being done in preparation for a conceptual paper. The method consists of reviewing all related literature to provide sufficient arguments. The discussion focuses on multiple intelligence theory, English language instruction, and incorporating multiple intelligence into teaching-learning activities.

STUDENT'S SPEAKING SKILL IN ENGLISH MATHEMATICS COURSES WITH THE SILENT WAY METHOD

The purpose of this study was to determine student responses to English Mathematics lectures using the silent way method and also to determine students' speaking skills when the method was applied. Aspects assessed from speaking skill include grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and pronunciation. This study uses quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods which aim to see the responses and learning outcomes of students in the form of speaking skills using English mathematics with Integer and Fractions material. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the responses and speaking skills of students in English mathematics lectures on the topic of integers and fractions at Madura University are generally good. The response given by students to lectures with this method is positive. Meanwhile, the speaking ability score which includes 5 aspects is also good, namely the students' grammar mastery of 35.9% who got a score of 3 in the very good category, vocabulary mastery of 47.2% in the very good category, and 41.5% of the comprehension mastery with very good category, fluency mastery of 20.7% in very good category, mastery of pronunciation indicator by 16.2% in very good category.

Computer security is a topic that has been gaining strength in the last decade, this because it is worrying the possibility that the government or companies outside the law to monitor citizens. Spyware, a software that does nothing more than violate the privacy of people who unfortunately are infected with one or more and this is done in a hidden and quite silent way. So it is of utmost importance to know, recognize and even determine how to fight against these tiny cyber threats. This small software leaks, searches and steals information abruptly, which could cause financial catastrophes in a family, or in a company, selling information or taking advantage of all the stolen content to wreak havoc. Although some Spyware developers sell their product as a way to control employees, it does not detract from the fact that their program handles the same operation as if to do evil.

Contribution of Sir P.C. Rây in preparing chemical bombs and explosives for Indian freedom fighters

Sir Prafulla Chandra Rây (P.C. Rây) had a pertinent contribution in the preparation and characterization of chemical bombs and explosives for the Indian revolutionaries in British India. His secret but active cooperation in militant nationalism should be respectfully remembered. He had a very good relationship with moderate leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and extremist leaders like Pulin Bihari Das and others. He along with some of his students helped the revolutionaries to understand the proper scientific way behind the preparation, characterization and safe handling of chemical bombs as well as explosives, which in turn paved the way to our long-cherished independence in a very silent way.

Dictogloss for English Language Teaching: An Experimental Lesson and Reflections

While ELT emphasizes on well-known teaching approaches such as PPP (Presentation, Production and Practice) or Test-Teach-Test (TTT) for planning and implementing lessons, most EFL professionals rarely experiment with approaches such as Dictogloss, Silent Way, TBLT (Task Based Language Teaching), and so on. While an eclectic approach to teaching English can help achieve lesson aims better, deeper insights into specific approaches can sharpen teachers’ professional edge. Dictogloss, therefore, is one of such approaches that integrates all skills in planning and delivering ELT lessons. The researchers’ experiment with the approach of dictogloss and reflections are summarized in this article. The report includes the need for using dictogloss approach in ELT, a brief literature review, objectives of the experimental lesson, methodology, findings and analysis, recommendations, and conclusion. Overall, this qualitative study on the experimental dictogloss lesson and its reflections concluded at a positive note.

FORMATION OF THE INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS IN PROCESS OF LEARNING FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The article deals with the study of a foreign language, the formation of intercultural and communicative competences of students, the characterization of intensive methods, such as the method of activation of the person’s reserve capacity, suggestopedic method, ”The silent way” teaching method, matrix method; the essence of motivation of learning a foreign language is revealed and different methods are compared in the process of learning.
