Early and accurate diagnosis of invasive fungal diseases (IFDs) has attracted comprehensive attention, which is crucial to clinical outcome. The diagnostic methods include direct microscopy, culture and identification of fungi, serological examination, molecular biology and histopathology, etc. In order to assist clinicians to apply these methods appropriately and improve the diagnosis of IFDs, multidisciplinary experts were invited to discuss this consensus. Suggestions for intended population, testing requirements, explanation of results and clinical significance were composed regarding invasive fungal diagnostic methods. In high-risk patients of invasive fungal disease, it emphasizes to combine multiple diagnostic methods, take samples accurately, interpret results correctly, understand the clinical significance of different methods, and provide better service to IFD patients.
