Wigner–Ville distribution (WVD) is considered as a promising tool in signal processing and optics. Owing to the distinguishing features of the octonion algebra and more degrees of freedom of special affine Fourier transform, we are deeply motivated to introduce a novel hybrid WVD in the framework of octonion domain. At the outset, we formulate the definition of the proposed transform and investigate some properties using means of special affine Fourier transform. Besides, uncertainty principle’s such as Heisenberg’s and logarithmic uncertainty principle’s have been established for the novel transform. Nevertheless, Lieb’s theorem associated with the newly proposed transform is also derived. Finally, a conclusion is extracted at the end.
