Properties and reactivity of Mn-doped ZnS nanoparticles

The physico-chemical properties and reactivity of ZnS:Mn (1% Mn) nanoparticles were investigated. ESR, XRD, specific surface area and reactivity in H 2SO 4 were studied in order to elucidate the degree of distribution of Mn atoms. There is a strong correlation between preparatory history, the shape of ESR spectra and reactivity of ZnS:Mn nanoparticles.

AbstractESR spectra and emission and excitation spectra of the MgS:Mn2+ phosphor are measured at 6, 80, and 300 K. From ESR spectra the values of the parameters g and A are obtained: g = 2.0019 and A = −74.8 × 10−4 cm−1 at 300 K. Furthermore, the analysis of the excitation spectra leads to the values B = 631 cm−1, C = 3345 cm−1, and Dq = 817 cm−1 with covalency parameter ϵ = 0.044. The value of the cubic field parameter a estimated from the shape of ESR spectra is much smaller than that theoretically deduced from the observed value of the parameter Dq.

The effect of crystal structure on the stability, yield and shape of ESR spectra of gamma-irradiated amino acids and dipeptides

Abstract The electron spin resonance spectra of some irradiated aliphatic amino acids and dipeptides have been observed and quantitative measurement obtained of their free radical yields. The yields, ESR spectra and stabilities have been explained in terms of their crystal structure.
