Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Dan Bernalar Kritis Pakbp Melalui Model PBL Berbantuan Wayang Kardus Fase B Kelas IV

Nowadays, Critical Thinking plays a significant role and totally needed because it is closely related to the improvement of Profile Pelajar Pancasila as one of the Indonesian educational goals. It helps students to understand and prefer to be a selective person in giving and taking information, and it also makes the students become wiser in taking a decision based on Pancasila values. In fact, it is still found that there are many elementary school students' critical thinking abilities are still low. The purpose in doing this research is in order to know the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method to assisted cardboard puppet learning media on the result of learning and critical thinking skills in the subject of Catholic Religious Education and Character (PAKBP) about "The Ten Commandments of God as a Guide to Life" for grade 4th students, Phase B at Panggung Lor Elementary School, Semarang City. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The population in this research is 12 students grade IV at Panggung Lor Elementary School, Semarang City, in the 1st semester academic year of 2024-2025.In analyzing the data, the researcher used descriptive analysis. It includes the results of observations of students' critical thinking skill in the PAKBP learning process using the PBL method of assisted cardboard puppet learning media and test data result of students' learning.The results of observations of student activities are analyzed descriptively using percentage statistics. The results of the research show that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) with the help of cardboard puppets can improve learning outcomes and critical thinking abilities of students in the subject of Catholic Religious Education and Character Class IV, Phase B at Panggung Lor State Elementary School, Semarang City.

An Achievement Test in Mathematics in the Modern World Course: The Standardization Process

This study aimed to construct and standardize an achievement test in Mathematics in the Modern World (MMW) course. Achievement test evaluates a student’s performance after a given period of instruction. Using the instrumentation research design, the data were gathered among 273 tertiary students of Notre Dame University enrolled during the second semester of Academic Year 2020-2021. Among these, 38 pilot tested and 213 tested the reliability of the instrument. This study further utilized the following: a 4-point Likert scale for the validation of the instrument, difficulty value and discrimination index formulas for the analysis of each item, and KR20 reliability for internal consistency. Furthermore, a test manual for the MMW achievement test was also established. The preliminary total number of Items before MMW teachers’ validation was 42 items covering the topics for the first 12 hours of the MMW Syllabus. These items were validated through Aiken’s Item Validity method which resulted in the acceptance of 42 items. After rigorous processes, it resulted in the acceptance of 34 items for the MMW achievement test. The instrument’s average validity is 0.935, and the reliability is 0.701 which means that this tool has high validity and acceptable reliability.

Enhancing Students’ Speaking Skills in Speaking for Academic Purposes Subject through Active Debate At The 4th Semester in Academic Year 2023/2024 Universitas Panca Sakti Bekasi

In Speaking for Academic Purposes, the students must be able to speak actively. And there are some materials on this subject, one of them is Debate. Active debate is one way to improve students' speaking skills. So, the purpose of this study was to improve students’ speaking skills through Active Debate. This research method is classroom action research, which is used in two cycles, and each cycle has four steps: planning, action, observing, and reflection. The data presented in this study were obtained from observations, interviews, and students’ speaking scores. The subjects of this research were fifteen students in the fourth semester of the Speaking for Academic Purposes Class at Panca Sakti University. In the study, the researcher got the result, namely the percentage of speaking scores. The score for students speaking test in cycle one was 52.36 % passed, and 47.64 % failed; Passed 78,2% and 21.8% failed in cycle two. So, the increase in yield in cycles 1 and 2 is 25.84%. And score for aspects of observation in cycle one is 71,38% passed and failed: 28,62%; passed 92,5% and 7,5% failed in cycle two. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that learning English, especially speaking through active debate, can improve students’ speaking skills.

Needs Analysis of English Learning Skills for Students of Hospitality Study Program

Needs analysis plays a significant part in the construction of an English language curriculum that is tailored to learning needs. Students' descriptions of their needs, weaknesses, and desires constitute important factors that English teachers must consider before establishing appropriate lesson plans and teaching and learning resources. This study was designed with a descriptive qualitative research model. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. This data collection method involved all students from the Politeknik Indonusa Surakarta for Hospitality program in their first semester of Academic Year 2023, with a total of 93 students participated. The questions were provided online using Google form. When completing the questionnaire, respondents are given the choice from a number of different responses. Based to the results of the Needs Analysis on English subject, the main objective of Hospitality Study Program students learning English is to help them develop in their jobs in the service and hospitality industries. Students emphasized the importance of learning speaking skills, despite the fact that other language skills are equally important to improve. Each need to master aspects of English language skills, on the other hand, must be in line with their professional career development. This study has implications for fulfilling learning requirements in the hospitality study program as a guide to developing English teaching materials for students in the program. Comparing frequencies of adolescent suicide attempters pre- and during COVID-19 pandemic school terms

BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic had and still have a major impact on adolescent mental health and consequently on suicidal behavior. However, few studies have investigated whether the pandemic has changed the patterns and the triggers of suicidality peaks in adolescents, e.g., seasonal patterns or family conflicts. We hypothesized that the pandemic modified suicidality rates: an increment of suicide attempts would be observed in the first semester of the academic year during COVID-19 pandemic compared to the same period of previous academic year; and the precipitating factors would be more related to social stressors during the pandemic school year.MethodsA retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted to assess the precipitating factors, also including school-related factors and cognitive skills, of adolescent suicide attempters occurred in the first and second semesters of the year before the pandemic lockdown (study periods 1 and 2) and the year after (study periods 3 and 4).ResultsThe sample consisted of 85 adolescents aged between 12 and 17 recruited consecutively from March 2019 to March 2021 at emergency ward because of suicide attempt. Forty-eight adolescents (55.3% of the sample) were attended before the lockdown (pre-pandemic group) and 38 (44.7%) the year after. The results showed a higher proportion of female suicide attempters in period 4 (Sept 2020-Feb 2021) respect to period 3 (Mar 2020-Aug 2020), i.e., pandemic semesters compared with the increment observed between period 2 and 1 (prepandemic semesters; Fisher’s exact test = 4.73; p = 0.026). The multinomial regression models showed a significant effect in the frequency of adolescents who attempted suicide (ratio χ2 = 15.19, p = 0.019), accounted by the differences between period 4 (Sept 2020-Feb 2021) and period 1 (Mar 2019-Aug 2019), with depressive symptoms being a significant contributing factor (Exp(b) = 0.93; p = 0.04). Additionally, social triggers and age were found to be significant risk factors for suicide attempts in the first semester of the pandemic academic year (period 4) compared to the same semester of the pre-pandemic year (period 2; Exp(b) = 0.16, p = 0.01, and Exp(b) = 1.88, p = 0.006, respectively).ConclusionsDuring the pandemic, the decrement between first and second semester of the number of females attempting suicide was more pronounced than in the prepandemic school year -though this findings lacked statistical power due to very limited sample size-. Change in the frequency of adolescent attempting suicide in the different school periods was associated with greater severity of depressive symptoms. Social relations in back-to-school after the lockdown were also associated with the number of adolescents attempting suicide.

PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN DAN GAYA KOGNITIF TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS VIII MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH

This is a quasi-experimental study (Quasi-Experimental Design) nonequivalent control group design with applying 3 × 2 factorial design. Subjects were students MTs Laboratory Fak. Tarbiyah IAIN STS Jambi City class VIII semester of academic year 2012/2013. Data collection was conducted by using two different instruments namely instruments Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT) to measure cognitive styles. Instrument in the form of students and students' mathematics achievement test form of objective questions (multiple choice). Hypotheses were tested using analysis of Varian Two Line (Two-Way ANOVA), after testing prerequisites are met ie the data are normally distributed and the variance between relatively homogeneous sample. From the data analysis and statistical test results obtained are: (1) there is the influence of media use on learning outcomes of mathematics teaching eighth grade students of MTs, (2) there is an influence of cognitive style on learning outcomes of students' mathematics class VIII MTs (and (3) there is no significant interactions between media learning and cognitive style on learning outcomes of students' mathematics class VIII MTs Keyword: interactive cd, powerpoint, konvensional, cognitive style and learning outcomes

Analysis of Students' Ability to Master Content Components When Solve PISA Mathematics Literacy Questions at SMPN 14 Bengkulu City

This study aims to analyse capability of students and the error process of students to solve the task of mathematics literacy PISA 2012. This research is descriptive research. The subjects of this research were students of class IX 1 and IX 2 SMP Negeri 4 Kota Bengkulu odd semester academic year 2021/2022. Instrument and data collection techniques are used in this research are test sheet and interview. The results showed that students' ability to master the content component of PISA mathematics literacy consists of four types, as follows: there are 45,67% students of class IX SMP N 4 Bengkulu city are able to master the content component shape and space, there are about 48,48% students of class IX SMP N 4 Bengkulu city are able to master the content component changes and relationships, there are about 53,25% IX students of SMP N 4 Bengkulu city are able to master the content component quantity, there are 92,8% students of class IX SMP N 4 Bengkulu city are able to master the content component probability, uncertainty, and data. Implementation of The Project Based Learning Model Lesson Study on Creativity, Abilitycreative Thinking, and Learning Outcomes

Application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) Model Based on Lesson Study on Creativity, Creative Thinking Ability, and Learning Outcomes of Class II-B Students at SDN 1 Terara on Measuring Instrument Material. Based on the results of observations that have been made using students' learning practices in the field of Mathematics study in SDN 1 Terara for the 2023/2024 Even Semester Academic Year shows that students experience difficulties in mastering learning material on the subject of Measuring Instruments. Project Based Learning (PjBL) collaborated with Lesson Study (LS) is applied in this approach because LS is believed to be successful in improving learning practices. This implementation includes three aspects, namely: (a) Plan (Learning Planning), namely how a teacher designs learning so that students can learn actively. (b) Do (Learning Implementation) Implementation of learning that has been designed in the previous stage, where one teacher acts as a model and another teacher as an Observer of the learning. (c) See (Learning Reflection) After carrying out learning activities and observations, all parties involved reflect to discuss the learning that has been carried out and complete the parts that are still considered lacking.

Academic Integrity among Graduate Studies Students at the University of Jordan during the Period of Distance E-Learning in Light of the Corona Pandemic and in Light of Selected Variables

This study aimed to identify academic integrity and academic motivation for Graduate studies students at the University of Jordan.it shows the impact level of the academic motivation and academic achievement in the academic integrity. To achieve the purpose of this study we have chosen a stratified random sample consisted of (500) students including (179) males and (321) female students from under-graduate students at university of Jordan registered in the first semester of academic year (2020/2021) in the program master and doctoral degrees in various Humanitarian, scientific and medical colleges, the data needed to answer the study questions were collected by applying two measures Academic integrity (AIQ) and Achievement motivation, the student's GPA were considered a measure of achievement. The results of the study showed that the under-graduate students at university of Jordan have high levels of academic integrity and have medium academic motivation. While the results of study indicated that, there were statistically significant difference in the academic integrity due to the variables: motivation & achievement for the higher motivation & achievement students. On other hand, there were no statistically significant difference due to the interaction between motivation and achievement.

Students’ Perceptions on the Use of Lecture and Presentation Method in an Online Learning

The use of lecture and group presentation method in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) course in online learning at 17 Agustus 1945 Semarang University (Untag Semarang) in the first semester of academic year 2021-2022 has an impact on the students’ acceptance. It is studied using qualitative approach. From the result of interview which was then associated with the result of observations during the teaching and learning process and then compared it with the result of the questionnaire, it can be seen that the application of the lecture method through the explanation of the material from the lecturer make students easier to understand the material than having to learn themselves. 79.8% of students like the lecture method and only 52.9% of students choose group presentation method. They also do not understand the explanation of online group presentations from other students. Judging from 41.3% of students, the reason is because they cannot discuss the material face to face.

Impact of Portfolio Authentic Assessment on Students’ Learning Outcomes of Nahwu at Modern Islamic Boarding School

The study aimed to investigate the potential beneficial impact of portfolio assessment on the learning outcomes of Nahwu lessons of fourth-grade students at the Modern Islamic Boarding School of Al-Ikhlash Female in Kuningan, West Java. The study used an experimental methodology and a quantitative research approach. The research sample included all fourth graders. The research was carried out during the odd semester of academic year 2022. A quasi-experimental design used to evaluate the effectiveness of portfolio assessment, with the experimental class implementing portfolio assessment while the control class continued to use the standard evaluation method. The learning outcomes of the students in the control class produced an average score of 71.67. Comparing the experimental class’ score, which used portfolio assessment, it become clear that the students’ comprehension of the Nahwu material had significantly improved. These results showed that portfolio evaluations have a chance to improve fourth-grade students’ learning outcomes in Nahwu.

Interplay of Information Literacy, Library Engagement and Academic Performance Among State University Students

“Interplay of information literacy, library engagement and academic performance among state university students” unpublished master’s thesis, Liceo de Cagayan University, Cagayan de Oro City, December 2023. This descriptive-correlational study assessed the information literacy skills and library engagement of all the students enrolled in the first semester of academic year 2022-2023 in a satellite campus of a state university in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental. The study further determined if the students’ information literacy and library engagement are significantly associated with their academic performance measured in terms of their grade point average for the semester. To answer the research questions, the study used survey questionnaires, which were content validated and tested for reliability. The generated data were statistically processed to facilitate data analysis and interpretation. Findings revealed that the students generally had very high level of information literacy, had high level of library engagement, and had good academic performance. The test of relationships revealed that there was no significant relationship between the students’ information literacy and academic performance. However, singly, information evaluation as a dimension of information literacy was significantly correlated with academic performance; although, the degree of the relationship was weak. Furthermore, there was no significant relationship between the students’ library engagement across all dimensions and their academic performance. Therefore, the students’ academic performance cannot be attributed to their level of information literacy and library engagement. However, the importance of information literacy and library engagement in promoting academic success among students cannot be dismissed considering the bulk of literature and studies that found those factors as predictors of students’ academic performance and considering the limitation of this study.

Investigating curriculum integrated information literacy

Information literacy has become an essential element of the student learning process due to the current information overload that university students face. The world is in the information age where the options for access to information is changing daily. University students need to be information literate to be able to use information responsibly and ethically. This article describes the third cycle of an action research study that sought to investigate the merit of integrating information literacy that is aligned to an acceptable framework into the curriculum of an institution of higher learning by assessing students' perceptions before and after an information literacy intervention. First-year undergraduate students at a [institution name] responded to an online questionnaire and participated in online interviews to share perceptions of their information literacy competencies during the second semester of academic year 2021/2022. SPSS was used to analyze the quantitative data and the qualitative data was coded to identify common themes. The results of the study revealed information literacy courses positively impacted students' perceptions of their information literacy self-efficacy, skills, and attitudes.

Readiness of Fourth Year College of Education Students for Effective Preservice Teaching in Public Schools

This study determined the readiness of fourth-year students to pre-service teaching in terms of knowledge, skills values and attitude. This study employed descriptive survey research design. Furthermore, it aims to determine the level of readiness of 4th year students for pre-service teaching with respect to gender. The sampling used is convenience sampling where there were twenty males and thirty females with the total of fifty respondents of fourth-year coming from the department of college of education who were enrolled in Notre Dame of Midsayap College during the second semester of Academic Year 2022-2023. Frequency and percentage distribution, weighted mean and standard deviation, product moment correlation (Pearson-r) and t-test were used to analyze the gathered data. Findings of the study revealed that the respondents are very much ready to pre-service teaching in terms of knowledge, skills, values and attitude. However, among the variable it was revealed that the lowest mean among the four is the knowledge. Nevertheless, the highest mean was in their attitude. Male respondents are more ready to pre- service teaching than females, although the difference is not significant.

RSUSafe: Student Daily Health Record Tracking System for RSU Romblon Campus

This study developed RSUSafe, a COVID-19 website dedicated to tracking the daily health records of students at Romblon State University - Romblon Campus. The specific objectives include the creation of an easy-to-use mobile responsive website that can track daily health data for students participating in flexible face-to-face courses. Additionally, the system incorporates a notification mechanism for both the school nurse and symptomatic students, accessible through the school nurse's web portal. This study was conducted in the first semester of academic year 2022-2023. Considering time constraints and student availability, a sample of 100 responses was collected using the convenience sampling method. To ensure the effectiveness of RSUSAFE, proper reporting and evaluation of the acceptance of the system using the ISO/IEC 25010: 2011 standard was also conducted. Results showed that the RSUSafe system is evaluated as highly suitable, highly efficient, highly reliable and highly secured. The results of this study are expected to significantly contribute to improving health surveillance practices in academic institutions.

TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE (TPR) METHOD THROUGH TIKTOK AS A LEARNING MEDIA TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ LISTENING SKILL AT SMAN 18 MAKASSAR

This study aimed to determine the use of the Total Physical response method (TPR) through tiktok as a learning media to improve students' listening skill at SMAN 18 Makassar. The research used pre-experimental research method. The population of this research was eleventh grade students of SMAN 18 Makassar at first semester academic year 2023/2024. The number of the sample were 33 students. The research collected the data by giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data of this research was analyzed by SPSS 25 version. The researcher concluded that there was a significant improvement in students' listening skills by using the Total Physical Response (TPR) Method through Tiktok as a learning medium. This is supported by the results of the average scores in the pre-test and post-test. The average score on the pre-test was 55.45, while on the post-test was 84.70. The significant value in this study is 0.000 which is smaller than 0.5. This means that there is a significant improvement in students' listening skills with the Total Physical Response (TPR) Method through Tiktok as a Learning Media

Implementation of Problem Based Learning Assisted by Learning Management System to Improve Students' Mathematical Communication Skills

Learning is not limited to the transfer of knowledge, but rather needs to provide opportunities for students to communicate ideas clearly in order to develop more flexible and practical abilities. The aim of the research is to determine the implementation of Problem Based Learning assisted by a Learning Management System (LMS) to improve students' mathematical communication skills. The research method uses a quantitative type, with a sample of class 1F of 23 students as the experimental class and class 1G of 24 students as the control class for the 2022/2023 even semester academic year in the D4 Electronics Engineering study program at the Malang State Polytechnic. Data collection methods such as observation and tests, where instruments are provided with observation sheets and test questions. Data analysis used the normal test, homogeneous test, proportion test, comparison test (test) and the N-gain test. The research results show that the data is normally distributed and homogeneous. The research indicators meet 1) Students' ability to communicate mathematics which is influenced by the treatment given through Problem Based Learning with the help of LMS reaches the minimum standard in learning both (B) individual and classical, exceeds 75%, 2) Students' ability to communicate mathematics which is influenced by the treatment given through Problem Based Learning with LMS support is better than expository learning, 3) The increase in mathematical communication skills of students who take part in Problem Based Learning with LMS support is significantly higher than expository learning, namely 0.496 in the medium category.

IMPROVING MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES THROUGH THE SNOWBALL THROWING MODEL ASSISTED BY THE MYSTICAL BOX MEDIA (FUN MYSTERY BOX OF FRACTIONS)

The aim of this research is to improve the Mathematics learning outcomes of class V A students at SD Negeri Depok 1 Sleman in the odd semester of academic year 2023 - 2024 through learning with the Snowball Throwing Model Assisted by Mystical Box Media. This research is a classroom action research. The subjects of this research were all 28 students in the VA class of SD Negeri Depok 1 Sleman in the odd semester of academic year 2023-2024, consisting of 10 male and 18 female. The object of this research is student learning outcomes. Based on the data analysis result, it can be concluded that student learning outcomes gradually increased from 58.57 (Pre Cycle) to 72.03 in cycle I and to 81.78 in cycle II. Where the percentage of completeness increased from 36% (Pre Cycle) to 50% in cycle I and to 78% in cycle II.

The Factors Contributing To EFL Students’ Difficulties In Paragraph Writing Course

Writing is significantly essential for English as a foreign language and English as a second language. Students’ language learning has constantly been regarded as essential ability contributing to English learning. The purpose of this study was analyze factors contributing to students’ difficulties in paragraph writing course based on the students’ perceptions. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The instruments used were interview and documentation. This study, the participants’ answers were purposive sampling and analyzed descriptively. The participants were 60 students who were taking paragraph writing course in second semester academic year 2022/2023 in English Language Education Program at IAIN Palangka Raya. The data analysis procedure of the research analysis were data condensation, demonstration, and verifying conclusion. The overall result based on the questionnaire, students found difficulties to use grammar. Based on the findings, there were two factors that caused students’ difficulties in writing. The two factors were internal and external. Internal factors consisted of self-motivation, self-confidence, lack of knowledge and feeling of under pressure External factors consisted of the teacher’s teaching style, classroom atmosphere, materials, and writing aspects. This research hopefully can help lecture in developing appropriate teaching techniques in writing and minimize students' difficulties in paragraph writing course.

Facilitating EFL Students' Active Learning Through Digital Portfolio Development

A number of studies suggest that active learning enables learners to actively participate in the learning process, effectively assimilate their lessons, and gradually enjoy the learning process (Attaran & Moghaddam, 2014; Bonwell & Eison, 1991; D’Silva, 2010; Freeman et al., 2014; Koohang, 2009; Ryan & Martens, 1989; Tedesco-Schneck, 2013; Theobald et al., 2020). Developing a digital portfolio facilitates active learning among EFL students as it empowers them to plan their academic activities, reflect on their academic progress, and deepen their understanding of their lessons. This empirical study was conducted at Center for Preparatory Studies (CPS), Sultan Qaboos University during the Spring Semester of Academic Year 2022-2023. It gathered quantitative data through the Questionnaire for Portfolio Development; whereas it elicited qualitative data through focus group discussion sessions. The quantitative data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26; whereas, the qualitative data were analyzed thematically. Results revealed that the respondents have mixed feelings towards portfolio development. The majority of the respondents believe that developing their portfolio facilitates their active learning in various ways. Both the quantitative and qualitative data reveal that developing a portfolio facilitates active learning among the learners and that there is no significant difference in the respondents’ attitude towards portfolio development when grouped according to their course. EFL students have mixed feelings towards portfolio development. Despite their ambivalence towards portfolio development, they understand the significance of developing their portfolio. EFL students generally have a positive attitude towards all the three components of their portfolio (academic planner, vocab log and reflection task) as they consider each component helpful in developing their language skills and allow them to learn actively.
