Coccidiose aviária: impactos e características da doença

An excellent poultry production in the current national and international commercial scenario is directly related to an adequate sanitary control, since, in situations of incorrect management, adult chicks and chickens can be affected by several diseases, such as avian eimeriosis, caused by the obligate intracellular apicomplex protist Eimeria spp. which generates numerous losses to agribusiness. Among the main species that cause economic impact on poultry farming, the species E. acervulina, E. maxima, and E. tenella stand out, especially due to their high capacity for dissemination and the severity of the disease presentation. Sanitary measures to control coccidiosis, such as rigorous cleaning of sheds and bedding, as well as the responsible use of anticoccidial drugs, require extensive planning and commitment on the part of producers. The objective of this study was to carry out a literature review on avian coccidiosis in order to better understand the characteristics of the agent and to relate the pathogenesis to the methods of diagnosis, control and prevention of this disease, since the impact of the disease is masterful.

Leptospirosis seroprevalence and associated risk factors in dairy goats in the Brazilian semi-arid region

Leptospira spp. infection is a worldwide zoonosis that causes economic losses to goat rearing, mainly due to reproductive disorders. Hence, the objective of this research was to determine the seroprevalence and associated risk factors of leptospirosis in a goat milk-producing region in the states of Paraiba and Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil. The microscopic agglutination test was used as serological method and risk factor analysis was carried out using univariable and multivariable analyses. Out of the 937 animals sampled, 102 (10.9 %; 95 % CI = 8.9–12.9 %) were seropositive for Leptospira spp. and the most frequent serogroups were Ballum (41.2 %; 95 % CI = 31.6–50.7 %), Icterohaemorrhagiae (25.5 %, 95 % CI = 17–33.9 %) and Semaranga (23.5 %, 95 % CI = 15.3–31.8 %), with antibody titres ranging from 1:50 to 1:200. Thirty-four of 51 herds (66.7 %; 95 % CI = 53.7–79.6 %) had at least one seropositive animal. The risk factor identified in the multivariable two-level random effect binary logistic regression was the animal being an adult (odds ratio = 4.2; 95 % CI = 1.93–9.13; P < 0.001). Our results provide important information on the epidemiology and risk factors associated with goat leptospirosis seroprevalence in one of the main Brazilian goat milk-producing regions. Furthermore, the need for adopting sanitary control measures, especially those involving sanitary management practices, is highlighted.

Mortality in Stray Kittens under Eight Weeks Old: Focusing on Congenital Malformations.

Neonatal and pediatric mortality in kittens could be associated with bacterial infections, complications from inadequate management, congenital malformations, neonatal isoerythrolysis, parasitic diseases, and viral diseases. The complexity of causes, coupled with kittens' physiological and immunological immaturity, complicates the diagnosis and treatment of disease, highlighting the necessity for preventive measures. This study aimed to identify the leading causes of death and the occurrence of congenital malformations in stray kittens. Necropsies were performed on 68 kittens, all aged under two months. Results indicated that respiratory lesions were the leading cause of death in the youngest group, while gastrointestinal problems were more prevalent in older groups. Infectious causes were predominant across all age groups. Congenital malformations were observed in 40% of the animals, with megaesophagus, cardiovascular anomalies, bone defects, and kidney defects being the most prevalent. The findings underscore the critical importance of hygiene in preventing infections and related complications. Promoting sterilization and sanitary control in stray cats is essential to reduce overpopulation and improve living conditions.

Infrared Imaging Analysis as Non-Destructive Maintenance of Food Processing Equipment

The use of infrared imaging is a recently developed non-destructive tool to assess the safety, quality and efficiency of the food industry. This article explores the application areas and benefits of using infrared imaging in the maintenance of machinery used in the food industry. Applications covered include food quality control, packaging inspection, temperature monitoring and control, hygiene and sanitation control, foreign object detection, energy saving through optimization, baking, as well as cooking process monitoring and research. By using infrared cameras to their full potential, it is possible to reveal defects, check the level of cleanliness, optimize the maintenance of machines, and examine the thermal attributes of food. This article also provides an in-depth analysis of the historical development of infrared imaging technology. We also explore the basic ideas behind infrared image analysis. This includes the Stefan-Boltzmann Law, Planck's Law, and Wien's displacement law. Infrared image analysis has many advantages and some disadvantages. Despite these drawbacks, infrared imaging analysis has continued benefits. It saves costs, ensures equipment longevity and increases productivity. This makes it very important for the safety of food industry machinery.

BIOLOGICAL AND ECOLOGICAL STATE OF COMMON SMUT (USTILAGO ZEAE) IN CORN SILAGE FIELDS IN THE KYZYLORDA REGION AND MEASURES TO COMBAT IT

Corn, as one of the most important grain feed crops, is of great importance in increasing gross grain yields. Corn smut (Ustilago zeae) can also cause large economic losses in susceptible sweet corn hybrids. Protection against this pathogen is mainly based on prevention. To date, many corn smut control methods have been recommended or evaluated, including crop rotation, sanitation, seed treatments, fertility modification, and biological control. Despite these frequently cited control strategies, host resistance appears to be the only effective control method for common smut in areas where Ustilago zeae is common. The purpose of the study is to study the resistance to smut against a natural infectious background of samples from a collection of corn from breeding nurseries in Kazakhstan. Based on the results of a study of the resistance of a corn collection to bladder smut against a natural infectious background, varieties were identified on whose plants symptoms of the disease were not detected: Altay 250 MV, Budan 237 MV, Tatty-2012 and Tayelsizdik-20 SV. The identified samples also had high productivity and grain yield. A high level of heritability (Hb2 – 0.85) of the disease susceptibility index among the studied samples was revealed.

Maximum permissible levels of laser radiation as a tool for ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population

Introduction. Laser radiation is the youngest production factor, but not the most harmless. The rapid development of modern laser technologies and their introduction into various fields of science and technology has allowed lasers entering widely into everyday human life, as well as into the sphere of culture, fine arts, and the show industry. Thus, the development of a unified algorithm for calculating the maximum permissible levels (MPL) of laser radiation is becoming particularly relevant. The purpose of this work is to assess the subjective feelings of persons exposed to laser radiation at levels not exceeding the maximum permissible levels and clarify the methodology for calculating acceptable levels of laser radiation. Materials and methods. Graphical modelling was used to develop an algorithm for calculating the MPL. To assess the subjective perception of laser radiation, a survey of 20–25 years five hundred eighteen people was used according to a specially designed questionnaire. Results. Exposure to laser radiation at levels not exceeding the MPL caused unpleasant sensations in the eyes of the participants of the show, temporary violation of colour perception, temporary blindness, headache. An algorithm for calculating the MPL of laser radiation has been developed, consisting of six stages, which allows optimizing the computational component of laser safety assessment in the implementation of State sanitary and Epidemiological supervision and control. Limitations. The age range of the study participants is 20–25 years old. Conclusion. It is proposed to revise the standards of MPL for the population based on the temporary effects of radiation. This will minimize the negative impact on the organ of vision in terms of reversible changes and qualitatively improve the hygienic assessment of laser radiation. The developed algorithm for calculating the permissible levels of laser radiation will help minimize errors and reduce the time spent by specialists when assessing the safety of exposure to laser radiation on the body.

In the Depths of Wash Water: Isolation of Opportunistic Bacteria from Fresh-Cut Processing Plants.

The fruit and vegetable industry in post-harvest processing plants is characterized by a substantial consumption of water resources. Wash waters may serve as an environment for the periodic or permanent habitation of microorganisms, particularly if biofilm forms on the inner walls of tanks and flushing channels. Despite the implementation of integrated food safety monitoring systems in numerous countries, foodborne pathogens remain a global public health and food safety concern, particularly for minimally processed food products such as vegetables and fruits. This necessitates the importance of studies that will explore wash water quality to safeguard minimally processed food against foodborne pathogen contamination. Therefore, the current study aimed to isolate and identify bacteria contaminating the wash waters of four fresh-cut processing plants (Poland) and to evaluate the phenotypic antibiotic resistance profiles in selected species. Bacteria were isolated using membrane filtration and identified through mass spectrometry, followed by antibiotic susceptibility testing according to EUCAST guidelines. The results revealed that the level of contamination with total aerobic bacteria in the water ranged from 1.30 × 106 cfu/mL to 2.54 × 108 cfu/mL. Among the isolates, opportunistic pathogens including Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella oxytoca, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Serratia marcescens, and Proteus vulgaris strains were identified. An especially noteworthy result was the identification of cefepime-resistant K. oxytoca isolates. These findings highlight the importance of monitoring the microbial microflora in minimally processed foods and the need for appropriate sanitary control procedures to minimize the risk of pathogen contamination, ensuring that products remain safe and of high quality throughout the supply chain.

Identifikasi Penyakit Protozoa Terhadap Manusia

Protozoa is a microscopic, one-cell organism that belongs to the protista group. Some protozoa species are pathogenic and can cause a variety of serious diseases in humans, which are often spread through water, contaminated food, or vectors such as mosquitoes and flies. Diseases caused by protozoa, such as malaria, amebiasis, giardiasis, and leishmaniasis, have a significant impact on public health, especially in developing countries with poor sanitation and limited health systems. This research uses a method (literature review) with a keyword search for articles on protozoa disease against humans in the context of articles in Indonesia. Data collection techniques using search processes in Google Scholar Research results show that increased awareness, education, and training for medical personnel are also important to ensure that protozoa infections can be diagnosed and treated effectively, thus minimizing the impact of the disease on society. Overall, the study emphasizes the importance of sanitation, personal hygiene, health education, routine screening, and vector control to reduce the prevalence of intestinal protozoa infections and improve the health of people with weakened immunity

Quantification of wildlife visits to pig farms via camera traps in Japan

Infectious diseases in livestock not only cause significant economic losses but also affect food security. Although wildlife may be involved in these infectious diseases by serving as reservoirs, research has primarily focused on livestock and related species. Moreover, while these species represent a potential threat in wildlife-borne infectious diseases, comprehensive surveys of the presence of various species are limited. In this study, we aimed to quantitatively investigate the occurrence of various mammals and birds at three pig farms in Japan. We conducted camera trap surveys from October 15, 2020, to March 24, 2022, and determined the relative abundance index inside and outside the sanitary control zone. Wild boar (Sus scrofa), sika deer (Cervus nippon), and Japanese serow (Capricornis crispus) were photographed only outside the sanitary control zone. In contrast, small and medium-sized mammals, such as feral cats (Felis catus), raccoons (Procyon lotor), and rodent species (Muridae), and birds, such as the rufous oriental turtle dove (Streptopelia orientalis) and crows of the genus Corvus, were photographed both inside and outside the sanitary control zone. This comprehensive quantitative evidence suggests that various mammals and birds may be in indirect contact with livestock, highlighting the need to improve biosecurity at livestock farms. Moreover, while fences are effective against large mammals, they are inefficient against small to medium-sized mammals and birds. Therefore, the results of this study provide important insights into enhancing biosecurity on livestock farms by strengthening physical fencing, disinfecting clothing and equipment, and complying with standards of hygiene management.

VIGILÂNCIA SANITÁRIA DAS BOAS PRÁTICAS DE FABRICAÇÃO NAS INDÚSTRIAS ALIMENTÍCIAS PERTENCENTES A GERÊNCIA REGIONAL DE SAÚDE DE SÃO JOÃO DEL REI

Health Surveillance, defined as a set of actions capable of eliminating, reducing, or preventing health risks, carries out health control through inspections, which enable the detection of this risk. In this sense, Food Industries are evaluated through verification of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure the sanitary control of food consumed by the population. Therefore, this work aimed to evaluate the Good Manufacturing Practices of five (5) Food Industries inspected by VISA/GRS/SJDR. To this end, the research method used was the analysis of the checklist of Good Manufacturing Practices in Food Producer/Industrializing Establishments contained in Annex II of Resolution RDC 275/2002 ANVISA. The results found demonstrated that in the period of 5 years (2010 to 2014) in relation to compliance with Good Practice items there was an improvement, even though the majority classified themselves as group 2 (medium risk) at the end of the period. When the list is stratified, it is clear that “Industry and Commerce I.O.” highlighted the isolated attention to sub-items. Finally, it was concluded that continuous monitoring of food producing industries is necessary for constant improvement of sanitary control actions in the food area with a view to protecting the health of the population.

Molecular and pathological screening of the current circulation of fowlpox and pigeon pox virus in backyard birds

Avian pox is a disease that has devastating impacts on both poultry and wild bird species. Avian pox is caused by various strains of avipoxviruses (APV). Nevertheless, the virus has been detected in pigeons and chickens that are raised in backyard areas, leading to substantial financial damage for small-scale producers. There is a lack of comprehensive information regarding the transmission of APV among birds in the backyards and residential areas. Hence, the present investigation closely monitored and observed APV in domesticated birds residing in backyard areas, with the aim of impeding the transmission of the virus to nearby poultry farms. In 2023, a total of fifty backyard flocks were surveyed for the presence of avian pox disease. Sixteen backyards (14 pigeons and 2 chickens) exhibited warty nodular lesions on their heads and nonfeathered body parts. APV was confirmed in nodular lesions by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification and genetic sequencing. All samples from the lesions showed successful amplification of the p4b locus (core protein p4b). Four confirmed samples were tested for pathogenicity on the chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM). Histopathological examination revealed ballooning degeneration and numerous intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies (Bollinger bodies) in the ectoderm of the infected CAM. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the strains clustered into main clade A, with 11 in subclade A2 and 5 in subclade A1. Amino acid identity showed 100% similarity between the vaccine (fowlpox/VSVRI/Egypt) and some detected strains (PP537574 and PP537575). In addition, the PP537576.1 to PP537580.1 and PP537582.1 to PP537585.1 had 2-point mutations compared to the fowlpox/VSVRI/Egypt vaccine. The overall finding of low biosecurity levels in the investigated backyard birds emphasizes the significance of establishing sanitary measures and control vectors to reduce virus transmission routes and disease severity. In conclusion, it is necessary to emphasize the tracking of APV in backyard birds. Concurrently, we advised enhancing hygiene protocols, vector management, and subsequent vaccination to restrict the occurrence of APV outbreaks and prevent their transmission to neighboring poultry farms. Furthermore, it is crucial to incorporate molecular studies in order to enhance the vaccine seeds for disease management.

Awareness and Acceptability of Pre-Certified Halal Foods to Non-Muslim Students among Secondary Schools

Multiculturalism is increasingly shaping contemporary societies, yet food, a fundamental human necessity, often becomes a point of cultural and belief-based contention. The halal food industry has grown significantly, garnering support both locally and internationally. However, this burgeoning sector faces challenges related to establishing standardized regulations that acknowledge its role in nation-building and promote cultural diversity. This study aimed to assess the awareness and acceptance of pre-certified halal food among non-Muslim students across secondary schools in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat. Employing a descriptive survey research design, the study utilized a researcher-developed questionnaire administered to 350 students selected through simple random sampling from seven identified schools in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat. Findings indicated that despite Lambayong's diverse population, most respondents demonstrated awareness and positive perceptions of pre-certified halal food. However, some community elders and church leaders expressed reservations about allowing younger generations to consume such food. The study also observed that while many vendors and proprietors were Muslim, not all adhered to the practice of wearing hijab (for Muslim women), and some lacked necessary cooking equipment like gloves and hairnets. Furthermore, certain halal establishments were found to have inadequate sanitation and pest control measures. Ultimately, the study concluded that there exists a moderate relationship between respondents' awareness and their acceptance of halal food. Recommendations include schools collaborating with barangay and local government units to monitor the hygiene of nearby restaurants and canteens. Additionally, halal food establishments should prioritize enhancing their sanitation practices and hygiene protocols to ensure compliance and consumer confidence.

Transforming Hospital Housekeeping: The Kayakalp Journey

Introduction The Kayakalp guidelines for public healthcare facilities under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) focus on improving sanitation, cleanliness, and infection control at public hospitals in India. This study was conducted in a 960-bed tertiary-level teaching hospital in eastern India. Housekeeping has been a challenge in public institutions, with factors like overcrowding and resource constraints. Tobacco and betel nut chewing, spitting, poor sanitation practices, and open urination are major challenges in ensuring sanitation at the hospital. The research objective was to study the implementation of the Kayakalp guidelines for quality improvement in housekeeping services at the institution. Methods A pre- and post-interventional study was conducted using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) quality tool. Plan phases included the gap assessment using the Kayakalp checklist with numerical scoring. Necessary interventions were done under three headings: structure, processes, and outcomes in the “Do” phase. The “Check” phase included monitoring of the activities followed by the “Act” phase, which included a review of the action plan. External experts nominated by the government conducted the final assessments and recommended it as one of the cleanest hospitals. Results A 360-degree improvement was observed in hospital services, with assessment score improvement from 73.68% to 95.0%. The institution received the first prize in 2020 and 2021 and runners-up Kayakalp National Award under category “B” (Institute of National Importance) Hospitals in 2019. Conclusion The implementation of Kayakalp guidelines of the Government of India proved to be efficient in the improvement of housekeeping and infection control practices in the institution.

A Semi-Continuous Fermentation Process for Pulque Production Using Microfiltration-Sterilized Aguamiel and Aseptic Conditions to Standardize the Overall Quality of the Beverage

Despite the current appreciation of pulque as a probiotic fermented beverage, pulque has been also regarded as a poor-quality product, particularly due to the lack of sanitary control during its elaboration. To address this problem, a semi-continuous fermentation system was established, emulating the artisanal production process. Microfiltration-sterilized aguamiel was employed as the substrate, whereas a good-quality pulque was used as the fermentation inoculum. During the fermentation, the physicochemical, microbiological (lactic acid and Leuconostoc-type bacteria and yeasts) and sensory characteristics of the must were monitored. The isolated microorganisms were identified by molecular biology and MALDI-MS techniques. The sterilization of aguamiel by microfiltration did not negatively affect its physicochemical attributes. After 6–8 days of operation of the semi-continuous bioreactor, the fermentation reached a quasi-stationary state considering most of the parameters monitored during the experiment. The final fermentation product presented similar physicochemical, microbial and sensory properties to those of the pulque inoculum. The genera identified were Leuconostoc, Lentilactobacillus, Lactobacillus, Liquorilactobacillus, Fructilactobacillus and Saccharomyces. The strains Lentilactobacillus diolivorans and Liquorilactobacillus capillatus and uvarum have not been previously isolated from pulque. In conclusion, the fermentation system developed in this work was effective to standardize the quality of pulque while preserving the positive attributes of the artisanal process, thus harnessing the probiotic properties of pulque.

Pathological findings and differential diagnoses of lymph node diseases in slaughtered cattle in Brazil: A study of 2000 samples

Slaughterhouse inspections play a crucial role in the sanitary control of zoonoses and foodborne diseases. This study aimed to identify and analyze the frequencies of lymph node diseases in cattle slaughtered for human consumption, using the samples sent to the anatomic pathology service of the Federal Laboratory for Agricultural Defense ( Laboratório Federal de Defesa Agropecuária), Minas Gerais, Brazil, from January 2015 to September 2022. In total, 2000 lymph node samples were analyzed, and additional information was individually retrieved. Lesions were most frequently identified in thoracic lymph nodes. Bacterial isolation and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) were performed using samples suspected of tuberculosis. Tuberculosis cases accounted for 89.3% of the samples. Histopathology was more sensitive than other ancillary tests for diagnosing tuberculosis. Paraffin-embedded tissues from lymphoma cases were subjected to immunophenotyping using anti-CD3 and anti-CD79a immunohistochemistry. Frozen and/or paraffin-embedded tissues from lymphoma cases were used to identify the enzootic bovine leukosis (EBL) retrovirus through qPCR. Other diagnoses included primary (T- and B-cell lymphoma) and metastatic neoplasms (squamous cell carcinoma, pulmonary adenocarcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma, undifferentiated adenocarcinoma, undifferentiated sarcoma, undifferentiated round cell tumor, mesothelioma, hepatic carcinoid, meningioma, and seminoma), actinogranulomas (pyogranulomatous lymphadenitis [actinobacillosis and actinomycosis]), idiopathic lymphadenitis (neutrophilic and/or histiocytic, granulomatous, and suppurative), and miscellaneous nonspecific lymphadenopathies (depletion/lymphoid atrophy, lymphangiectasia, erythrocyte drainage, parasitic eosinophilic lymphadenitis, follicular hyperplasia, and toxic granulomatous lymphadenitis). The combination of histopathology with complementary techniques is important for successful diagnosis, especially in complex cases of high epidemiological, economic, and zoosanitary importance, such as tuberculosis and EBL.

Investigation of a focus of brucellosis among animals and people in the Republic of Tatarstan

Over the past 3 years, the number of new cases of brucellosis has increased in the Russian Federation. Brucellosis remains an important problem in regions with developed livestock farming; however, cases of diseases in animals and humans can also be recorded in other regions. The article describes an outbreak of brucellosis in a peasant farm affecting 148 heads of cattle and 4 farm employees in the Novosheshminsky municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The disease was caused by Brucella abortus. Epizootic and epidemiological maps of the outbreak, sanitary and epidemiological survey activities, and sanitary and hygienic characteristics of the working conditions were analyzed. Data from the case histories of four peasant farm workers with brucellosis are also presented. The most likely cause of the epizootic was the unauthorized import of cattle, and infections in humans were caused by noncompliance with working conditions and personal-protective measures by farm workers. Brucellosis cases are more often recorded in endemic areas. However, with poor veterinary and sanitary control in any territory, epizootics are possible, which pose a danger in terms of damage to the national economy and possible infection in humans, primarily the professional risk groups. The disease does not have pathognomonic symptoms and can be suspected only if doctors are aware of them, evaluate the results of preliminary and periodic medical examinations with laboratory examinations of “at-risk” populations, and subject them to a thorough collection of epidemiological history.

Assessment of Microbial Contamination and Metabolite Exposure in Cosmetic Products Used in Women's Beauty Salons.

An important route of microbial transmission is the shared use of these products in beauty salons. We aimed to investigate level of contamination with microorganisms and their metabolites in shared-use cosmetics in several women's beauty salons. Bacterial and fungal strains from 320 opened/used cosmetic samples were identified according to the Iranian standards for microbial quality of cosmetic products in Golestan Province (North of Iran) during Jul-Sep 2021. In order to assess production of toxins and protease by the predominant bacterial and fungal isolates, multiplex-polymerase chain reaction and the Lowry protein assay were performed, respectively. Microbial contamination was detected in 180 samples (56.5%), and the highest and lowest rates of microbial contamination were related to skin products (63.88%) and eye beauty products (20%), respectively. The highest level of S. aureus contamination (> 4,000 colony-forming units/g) was found in toner and face wash samples, and the highest level of C. albicans contamination was seen in lipstick samples (>20,000 colony-forming units/g). Only one (2%) S. aureus isolate produced staphylococcal enterotoxin B, while 3 out of 12 (25%) C. albicans isolates were able to produce protease. The shared-used health and beauty products, face products, in the study area are heavily contaminated. Therefore, it is essential to store used cosmetics in dry and cool places, establish strict inspection regulations for cosmetic products before and after entering the market, and increase awareness of beauty salon workers regarding the appropriate use, sanitary control, and maintenance of health and beauty products.

The Effect of Senegal River Irrigation Water Quality on Soil Salinization: A Study of the Main Canal of the M’Pourie Plain in Mauritania

In this study, the Senegal River, being the main source of water, plays a crucial role in the area’s agricultural development. Irrigation on the M’Pourie plain using water from the Senegal River is carried out without any prior sanitation control. An evaluation of the quality of irrigation water and its impact on soil salinization in different agricultural plots soil salinity is crucial for the effective utilization of traditional irrigation water over extended periods. Comprehensive physico-chemical analyses were conducted across nine locations on the M’Pourie plain in Rosso during the dynamic seasons of 2021-2023. Nevertheless, a relatively small number of studies have employed soil salinity indexing methods to examine the consequences of river irrigation on soil salinity. The analysis and interpretation of the results obtained were based both on classic methods (average and correlations) and more advanced techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA) and the Piper diagram which allow characterization and a spatial typology of water. Analysis of the Piper diagram highlights the distinction between two groups of water, weakly and moderately mineralized, ranging from 52.22 μS.cm-1 in the dry season to 72.22 μS.cm-1 in the rainy season, presenting a sodium-potassium bicarbonate facies The variability of irrigation water supplies, proves to be important in the functioning of an agro-systems. Two modes of operation have become individualized: the dry phase mode, characterized by very strong mineralization of the water linked to a significant load of dissolved elements, and the wet phase mode, whose water quality is poorly mineralized but shows the impact that its irrigation water can represent in the loading of organic and mineral pollution and the need for strict control of these waters upstream before their agricultural use. The results of this study show the absence of risks of soil salinization in relation to the chemical nature of irrigation water and the impact of agriculture on the M’Pourie plain.

Medical control is a scientific and practical branch of medicine that studies the issues of physical development, functional state, and health of the human body during physical exercises and sports. The purpose of medical control is to promote the effectiveness of the physical education process in every way, the correct use of physical culture tools. Medical control is a mandatory condition for injury prevention, preservation of human health, longevity, and creative activity. The main tasks of medical control: determining the state of health and solving issues of admission to classes in various forms and groups; carrying out medical control at physical education and sports classes; diagnostics of the functional state; assessment of physical development and identification of diseases and injuries; medical provision of competitions; agitation and promotion of physical culture among the population. Forms of medical control: regular medical examinations and control of persons engaged in physical exercises and sports; medical and pedagogical observations of people who are engaged in classes and competitions; sanitary and hygienic control over the places and conditions of classes; medical and sanitary provision of mass health and sports events (in sports camps and at educational and training meetings);prevention of sports injuries and diseases; sanitary and educational work and promotion of physical culture, sports, a healthier lifestyle. Physical development is assessed using anthropometric measurements, as well as the method of questioning and external examination. Anthropometric measurements make it possible to determine the level and features of physical development, the degree of conformity to gender and age.

Evaluation of the sanitary and physiological quality of corn seeds (Zea mays) submitted to treatment with bioextracts and their binary combinations

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of the application of bioextracts on seeds of creole corn, regarding their physiological and sanitary quality. The bioextracts of garlic (Allium sativum L), citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), cloves (Caryophilus aromaticus), ginger (Zingiber officinale roscoe), and their binary combinations were evaluated. Regarding the physiological quality of the seeds, the following parameters were evaluated: first germination (G1), germination (G), dry mass and seedling length (aerial and root). Regarding sanitary control, in vitro tests were carried out for the pathology of the seeds for Fusarium sp. and Aspergillus sp. The results of physiological quality showed a germination rate between 90.8-76.4% of the creole corn seeds treated with bioextracts and their combinations did not differ significantly from the control (84.9%), except when clove alone (3.0% of germination) was used. The results of dry mass, length of shoots and root plants followed a similar trend to that observed for germination analysis. Regarding sanity, the best result was obtained with clove bioextract, which completely inhibited the occurrence of Penicillium sp. Therefore, these studies allow to affirm that bioextracts can be efficient in controlling pathogens and maintaining the physiological quality of creole corn seeds.
