Analysis of the Role of Aviation Security and Safety Supervision of The Aviation Security Unit (AVSEC) at Sultan Babullah Airport, Ternate

Security and safety are crucial factors in aviation activities, considering the sensitivity of air transportation that requires certainty of safety at all times. The success of the duties and responsibilities of the Aviation Security unit is measured by their ability to optimize their supervisory role, thus creating safe and secure conditions, in accordance with applicable regulations and free from unlawful acts at an airport. This study aims to determine the supervision of the Aviation Security unit on flight security and safety at Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport and the supporting equipment used in its supervision. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data used are primary and secondary data. Primary data is obtained from observation and interviews, while secondary data comes from SOP, literature studies and photographs related to the problems studied. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research time is in August - September 2023. The results of this study indicate that the role of the Aviation Security unit supervision at Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport has been carried out properly according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) starting from checking passenger travel documents (identity), passenger body screening (body search), passenger baggage screening, monitoring the movement of everyone in the terminal, conducting routine patrols in all areas of the airport including the perimeter fence. Supervision with competent personnel who have been licensed. Avsec unit supervision aims to prevent unlawful acts and maintain the security and safety of flight activities. Supporting equipment in carrying out supervision is an X-Ray machine, HHMD (Hand Held Metal Detector), WTMD (Walk Through Metal Detector), EDS (Explosive Detection System), patrol vehicles and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).

Principal Supervision in Improving the Quality of Learning Administration Services at the State Islamic Elementary School

This study focuses on the role of managerial supervision in enhancing learning administration services at MIN 03 Kepahiang. It adopts a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. The research participants included the school principal, the curriculum deputy principal, and the administration head. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and were analyzed through data reduction (summarizing), data presentation (organizing information), and concluding (formulating a comprehensive description). The findings reveal that the principal and head of administration at MIN 03 Kepahiang have successfully implemented managerial supervision to improve learning administration services, which covers program planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation. The supervision by the school principal has been carried out effectively, resulting in enhanced administrative services and overall education quality. Through structured supervision programs, supervisors have assessed, monitored, and developed the performance of learning administration services at MIN 03 Kepahiang.

A Chinese Perspective on Online Gaming Usage and its Impact on Students' Attitudes Toward Learning

In the context of the digital era, online games have become part of the daily life of Chinese middle school students, affecting not only their academic performance and social activities but also significantly influencing their attitudes toward learning. Starting from the current situation of secondary schools in China, this review analyzes online gaming usage, the industry development trend, the cognitive and psychological impact on adolescents, the social impact, and the role of parental involvement and supervision, and explores the impact of online gaming usage on secondary school students' attitudes toward learning. This academic review help educators, parents, and policymakers design interventions that facilitate proper modulation between gaming and academics to promote healthier developmental pathways among middle school students.

Social Auxiliary Workers as the “Cinderellas” of Supervision: The Case of John Taolo Gaetsewe District, Northern Cape Province

The supervision of social auxiliary workers has received little attention, both in research and supervision practice. Social auxiliary workers are trained and qualified to support the services of qualified social workers. Yet, despite their importance in social welfare service delivery, social auxiliary workers are seen as the stepchild to social workers and are often neglected in terms of receiving supervision for their professional duties. This article explores how social auxiliary workers experience supervision to guide their daily activities. Although there are a few studies on the supervision experiences of social auxiliary workers in South Africa, there are no previous studies focused on the Northern Cape province. This article is based on a qualitative study that used an exploratory and descriptive research design. Semi-structured interviews were used to gather data from six social auxiliary workers in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District of the Northern Cape. Using Tesch’s eight steps of analysis, the findings reveal the inconsistent use of the role and function of supervision in developing the capacity and training of social auxiliary workers and the implications of ineffective supervision. A key recommendation is that social auxiliary workers should have mandatory, structured and supportive supervision to uphold the professional purpose of employing social auxiliary workers in the context of social service delivery to vulnerable populations.

Use of techniques derived from generative artificial intelligence (AI), specifically large language models (LLMs), offer a transformative potential on the management of multiple sclerosis (MS). Recent LLMs have exhibited remarkable skills in producing and understanding human-like texts. The integration of AI in imaging applications and the deployment of foundation models for the classification and prognosis of disease course, including disability progression and even therapy response, have received considerable attention. However, the use of LLMs within the context of MS remains relatively underexplored. LLMs have the potential to support several activities related to MS management. Clinical decision support systems could help selecting proper disease-modifying therapies; AI-based tools could leverage unstructured real-world data for research or virtual tutors may provide adaptive education materials for neurologists and people with MS in the foreseeable future. In this focused review, we explore practical applications of LLMs across the continuum of MS management as an initial scope for future analyses, reflecting on regulatory hurdles and the indispensable role of human supervision.

Challenges and strategies of gamification in family businesses: the moderating effects of supervision and engagement

Purpose This paper aims to unravel how family businesses can harness the power of gamification and to illuminate the hurdles that obstruct this path to success. The research identifies these challenges providing valuable insights into the application of gamification in family businesses and the role of supervision and engagement as moderator variables in this relationship. Design/methodology/approach Using a structural modeling approach in a qualitative research methodology, the authors collected responses from n = 200 participants. The results were analyzed using Spearman’s test and multiple linear regression. Findings The research findings reveal that family businesses need to carefully redefine costs when introducing gamification, considering both fixed and variable expenses. The moderating effects of supervision are crucial for user evolution and the correlation, while user engagement influences user and useability experience. Additionally, a positive attitude enhances engagement. Finally, the five key challenges lead to difficulties when implementing gamification strategies. Practical implications This research provides valuable insights for the literature on gamification and family business and offers practical guidance for family business owners seeking to introduce a tailored value proposition adapted to their unique organizational needs and challenges. Originality/value A novel approach is proposed which, through the integration of gamification strategies with family business dynamics, explores the unique challenges and opportunities that arise within this context. By focusing specifically on family businesses, this study highlights how generational differences, ownership structures and cultural resistance can impact the successful implementation of gamification.

Experiences of Program Heads in Supervising Teachers: A Phenomenological Study

The supervision of teachers is essential for ensuring effective teaching methods, ongoing professional growth, and student success. This study explored the experiences of program heads in supervising teachers. It was conducted in a local college in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental. The phenomenological design was used in the study. Eleven program heads served as the participants selected through the purposive sampling technique. The Interview Guide was used as the research instrument. Moustakas’ transcendental phenomenology of data analysis was utilized to analyze the data gathered. Results revealed the following main themes: the critical role of supervision in advancing teacher development and educational excellence, mutual learning and growth, the role of program heads in teacher supervision, overcoming challenges in teacher supervision, and effective communication strategies. Supervision improves teaching and learning quality, which supports professional development. The complex nature of supervisory roles requires adaptive strategies and strong support networks. It is recommended for program heads and teachers to establish open communication to help address the challenges encountered during supervision.

Inpatient Suicides in Swedish Psychiatric Settings – A Retrospective Exploratory Study from a Nursing Perspective

In Sweden, approximately 1,200 individuals die by suicide annually. Inpatient suicide is considered rare, but death by suicide still occurs when admitted to a psychiatric hospital. This study was part of a national retrospective project covering data from all patients’ medical records for the 2 years before death by suicide in 2015. In this study, 41 patients who died by suicide while being admitted to psychiatric care were identified. The aim was to retrospectively identify documentation of suicide risk, safety measures, and comparisons between those with and without suicide attempts for patients who died by suicide during psychiatric inpatient care. There was documentation of suicidal variables in 80% of the patients; 59% had a previous known suicide attempt, 63% were diagnosed with mood disorders, and 41% were assessed for elevated suicide risk. The most common suicide method was hanging, suffocation (68%), and 22% had died by suicide within 24 h after admission. Almost three-quarters were on voluntary care. No patients had constant professional supervision on a one-to-one basis, and 17% had 15-minute checks. One-third were on agreed leave at the time of the suicide. These results emphasise the lifesaving role of high-level supervision in the early stages of inpatient care.

Connecting the dots: exploring the role of ebullient supervision in fostering knowledge sharing through curiosity and informal learning

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine curiosity as a distal predictor of knowledge sharing facilitated by informal learning. It also probes the boundary conditions imposed by ebullient supervision in the influence of curiosity on knowledge sharing.Design/methodology/approachThe authors collected data through a two-wave survey of 349 knowledge workers in the IT sector and used structural equation modeling to analyze the data.FindingsThe results indicated a positive relationship between curiosity and knowledge sharing. In particular, informal learning was found to mediate the relationship between curiosity and knowledge sharing and ebullient supervision was identified as a significant condition that strengthens the effect of curiosity on informal learning.Practical implicationsOrganizations can promote knowledge sharing by harnessing curiosity as an intrinsic motivator for employees to engage in informal learning. Moreover, the findings identified ebullient supervision as an extrinsic motivator within the work environment, suggesting its potential to enhance the impact of curiosity on knowledge sharing.Originality/valueThis paper broadens the limited literature on ebullient leadership by revealing how it strengthens the effects of curiosity and informal learning on knowledge sharing.

Does environmental regulation truly enhance corporate green environmental investment? Evidence from the supervision of independent directors in listed companies.

With the increasingly prominent environmental issues in China, the government and citizens alike have intensified their focus on corporate investments in green environmental protection. Nevertheless, as government regulations become more stringent, there is substantial debate over whether environmental regulatory policies can consistently encourage listed companies to increase green environmental investments. Simultaneously, independent board supervision plays a crucial role in promoting the compliance and sustainability of listed companies regarding environmental protection. This paper selected a sample of 246 Chinese listed companies from 2010 to 2019, and used a fixed effects model to examine the impact of environmental regulation on the environmental investment of listed companies in China. Moreover, we used a mediation effect model to analyze the role of independent director supervision in influencing the relationship between environmental regulation and companies' green environmental investment. Additionally, we discuss the heterogeneous impact of environmental regulations on corporate environmental investments. Our findings are as follows: first, during the sample period, the tightening of environmental regulations significantly reduces the growth of environmental investment among the studied firms. As government environmental regulatory policies gradually intensify, the negative impact on environmental investments by listed companies becomes increasingly evident. Second, independent directors help alleviate the adverse impacts of environmental regulations on the environmental investment levels of listed companies. This suggests that the inclusion of independent directors in board governance plays a role in assessing government environmental regulatory policies and overseeing corporate decisions related to environmental investment. Lastly, the heterogeneity analysis indicates that environmental regulation significantly negatively impacts the environmental investment of listed companies in pollution-intensive industries and those located in the western regions. Furthermore, environmental regulatory policies impose greater constraints on the environmental investments of small-sized listed companies compared to their large-sized counterparts.

A Systematic Review: Educational Supervision in Different Countries from Instructional Improvement Perspective

The systematic review was based on five different articles focused on educational supervision from five different countries searched and systematically reviewed. The purpose of systematic review was to identify, evaluate and summarize the findings of relevant individual previous studies over the issue related thereby making the available more accessible for decision makers. Twenty one literatures were searched and ten were screened. Five of them had different methods and the date of publication stated in the criteria became outdated. The remaining five articles were qualitatively conducted which were similar in methods included and systematically reviewed. Four important different excel spreadsheet protocol were prepared and attached to the appendix. Four important thematic area of the review selected to be analyzed were purpose of supervision, quality of a good supervisor, problem related to supervision, and approach to educational supervision (clinical supervision, peer supervision, collaborative supervision, self-directed and mentoring). The findings of the review revealed that several important of educational supervision for teachers’ professional development and improvement of teaching-learning process. There are different approaches of educational supervision to support teacher professional development in order to improve teaching learning. The reviewer recommended that teachers to be able to carry out their role effectively, it is necessary to apply appropriate approach of supervision in the schools. Finance and shortage of experienced supervisor have impact on the role of supervision in the school system which proper attention should be given for effective supervision.

The Role and Place of Prosecutorial Supervision over the Activities of the Eurasian Economic Commission in the field of Antimonopoly Regulation within the Framework of the Functioning of the Eurasian Economic Space

Currently, taking into account the new circumstances in which the economy operates, greater importance is attached to such an economic association as the Eurasian Economic Union. The article analyzes one of the areas of authority vested in the Commission — the sphere of competition policy, since the Commission considers applications, conducts investigations, considers cases of violation of competition rules, sends appropriate requests for information to consider cases of violation of competition rules, if a violation or signs of a violation have been committed on the cross-border market of the Union. But who exercises control and supervisory functions over the activities of this body and should there be such control and supervision? This article will be devoted to these issues, which require analysis taking into account the scientific approach and law enforcement. The author analyzes the powers of the Eurasian Economic Commission in the field of competition policy. Reveals such gaps in Union law as the lack of a mechanism for challenging determinations of refusal to initiate proceedings on violation of competition rules and other powers of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Leadership Behaviours and Goals Achievement in Public Senior Secondary Schools

This study aims to analyze the relationship between leadership behavior and the achievement of educational goals in public high schools in Kwara State, Nigeria. The focus of this research is on the three main elements of leadership behavior, namely the welfare package, the role of supervision, and the communication system, as well as how these elements affect educational outcomes. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a correlational descriptive design. Data were collected through adapted questionnaires and interviews with 368 teachers in various public high schools across 16 local government areas in Kwara State. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive and inferential statistics with Pearson correlation at a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study show that there is a significant relationship between welfare packages, supervisory roles, and communication systems and the achievement of educational goals. An adequate welfare package improves teacher motivation and performance, an effective supervisory role contributes to the quality of teaching, and a good communication system ensures better coordination in achieving school goals. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of holistic integration of these elements in leadership strategies to create a conducive learning environment and achieve optimal educational outcomes. This research also opens up space for further research that considers local contexts, demographic variations, and more diverse research methods to gain a more comprehensive understanding.

Theoretical and legal nature of the concepts of supervision and control and their relationship

It is indicated that in the modern conditions of the transformation of the legal system of Ukraine, the study of the concepts of supervision and control acquires special relevance. This is due to the need to ensure the effective functioning of state administration, compliance with law and order, as well as to improve the quality of public services. The article examines the theoretical and legal nature of the concepts of supervision and control and their relationship. The author draws attention to the fact that supervision and control are important elements of the legal system of Ukraine, which ensure compliance with legality and proper implementation of legal norms. Despite the common features, these institutes have different theoretical and legal nature and perform specific tasks. The article notes that understanding the theoretical and legal nature of supervision and control, as well as their relationship, is necessary for the effective functioning of the legal system and ensuring the rule of law in Ukraine. Attention is drawn to the fact that in the modern conditions of the development of the Ukrainian state, the role of supervision and control is becoming particularly relevant. They are important tools in the fight against corruption, ensuring legality and increasing the efficiency of public administration. Improving these mechanisms and adapting them to modern challenges is a key task for ensuring sustainable development and strengthening the rule of law in Ukraine. the study of the concepts of supervision and control in Ukraine is extremely relevant and important. Attention is drawn to the fact that in the modern conditions of the development of statehood and the legal system, the study of supervision and control acquires special significance for ensuring the stable and harmonious development of society and the state. One of the key aspects of the relevance of the study of the concepts of supervision and control lies in their role in ensuring legality and law and order. In the conditions of democratic development of the state, it is important that the activities of state bodies, organizations and institutions meet the requirements of legislation.

Local land regulatory governance and land transaction prices: Micro evidence from land audits

It is of great significance to explore the role of land supervision in the standardization of local land transactions. We document the DID strategy to systematically evaluate how land audits affect the transactions in the land market. The results show that: (1) land audits have restrained the transactions of low price of industrial lands and the high price of commercial and residential lands, raised the unit price of industrial lands transactions, and reduced the price of commercial and residential lands, and these effects would not exist in the public sectors land transactions; (2) the impacts of land audits are more pronounced in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and enterprises with large-scale operations and high capital intensity; (3) audits have overall positive significance, which has increased the total investment of local industrial enterprises and reduced the investment bubble. However, there are no deterrent effects. The conclusions have important implications for our understanding of the loss of lands and resources, supervision, and the standardized construction of the trading market.

The Role of Supervision in Improving Work Discipline of State Civil Servant Employees at the Ministry of Religion

This research was conducted with the aim of: (1) finding out the role of supervision in improving the discipline of state civil servants at the Ministry of Religion, Bone Bolango Regency; (2) To find out what factors hinder the implementation of supervision of employee discipline at the Bone Regency Ministry of Religion. So this research uses a form of research with a qualitative approach and descriptive methods. The strategy used is single and fixed. Snippet technique with techniquepurposive snowball sampling. The data sources are informants at the research place or location, archives and documents. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and document analysis. For data validity, the technique used is data or source triangulation and method triangulation. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is flowing interactive analysis. The results of the research show that: (1) Supervision plays a large role in shaping the discipline of civil servants at the Bone Bolango Regency Ministry of Religion office, and this supervision can only work if the leadership at the Bone Bolango Regency Ministry of Religion office carries out their duties as actors in supervision; (2) Whereas based on data the discipline of civil servants at the Ministry of Religion office is still not optimal, not because there is no supervision, but because the leadership does not understand the theory or technical practice of supervision, resulting in not yet optimal supervision at the Bone Bolango Regency Ministry of Religion office. ; (3) That supervision is not only an order or rule that is the basis for implementation in an agency, but is a fundamental principle in the management of an institution such as the office of the Ministry of Religion, Bone Bolango Regency, this means that supervision plays an important role in improving the discipline of the State Civil Apparatus, so that Increasing human resources in leadership is the key word in realizing supervision to improve discipline in the State Civil Service.

Early Childhood Risk-Taking Behaviors in Chinese Parenting Environment: The Mediating Role of Parental Supervision

ABSTRACT Research Findings: Parental supervision, parental risk perception, and parental risk attitudes constitute an important parenting environment for the development of young children. To examine the mechanisms of Chinese parenting environment on young children’s risk-taking behaviors, this study first established a four-factor model and surveyed 497 parents of preschoolers. The results indicated that: (1) Chinese young children’s risk-taking was at moderately low level, and parental risk perceptions, parental attitudes and parental supervision were at moderately high level; (2) parental supervision completely mediated the relationship from parental risk perception to children’s risk-taking behavior (β = -0.139,95%CI [−0.267, −0.062], p < .001); (3) parental supervision partially mediated the relationship from parental risk attitudes to children’s risk-taking behavior (β = -0.068, 95%CI [−0.162, −0.027], p < .001); (4) this mediation model remained stable cross genders of children (∆χ 2 = 12.022, p = .799). Practice or Policy: The findings indicated that sufficient support and guidance for parenting should be provided to improve parental risk perceptions, attitudes and supervision which in turn create an environment safe and appropriate for risk-taking of Chinese young children.

Outcomes of oocyte retrievals completed by reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellows versus faculty: a 7-year retrospective review.

To examine outcomes of oocyte retrievals completed by Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) fellows versus faculty physicians. This retrospective cohort study examined patients who underwent oocyte retrievals at Mayo Clinic from July 15, 2009, to December 15, 2016. The primary outcome was the oocyte retrieval rate (ORR) calculated per retrieval as the number of oocytes retrieved per follicles aspirated. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to compare follicle and oocyte counts and ORR between fellows and faculty during the same bilateral retrieval. The study cohort included the first bilateral retrieval from 845 unique patients completed by 11 fellows and seven faculty. The median ORR was not statistically different for fellows and faculty (0.79 versus 0.80, p = 0.46). To assess for a learning curve, the outcomes of seven fellows who completed at least 80 retrievals in their first year were examined as four chronologically ordered sets of 20. When these sets were compared to the faculty physician mean ORR, no significant differences were found (p-values of 0.69, 0.69, 0.81, and 0.81, respectively). There were no significant differences in oocyte retrieval rates between fellows versus faculty over a 7-year period, with no significant learning curve observed. These findings suggest that fellows possess the requisite skills for successful oocyte retrieval upon entering REI fellowship following their OB/GYN residency. However, this does not diminish the critical role of comprehensive fellowship training and close supervision, especially in initial and complex cases.

Peer support for patients with opioid use disorder in the emergency department: A narrative review.

Faced with a growing opioid overdose crisis, emergency departments (EDs) are increasingly hiring peers-people with lived experiences of addiction and recovery-to work with patients in the ED who have opioid use disorders (OUDs) or who have experienced an opioid overdose. Despite a clear need for more support for patients with OUD and rapid expansion in grant funding for peer programs, there are limited data on how these programs affect clinical outcomes and how they are best implemented within the ED. In this narrative review, we synthesize the existing evidence on how to develop and implement peer programs for OUD in the ED setting. We describe the key activities peers can undertake in the ED, outline requirements of the peer role and best practices for peer supervision and hiring, detail how ED administrators have built financial and political support for peer programs, and summarize the limited evidence on clinical and care linkage outcomes of peer programs. We highlight key resources that ED clinicians and administrators can use to develop peer programs and key areas where additional research is needed.
