The Significance of Achieving Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Goals in the Gansu Section of the Yellow River Basin from the Perspective of High-quality Development

The high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin and the strategies of peaking carbon dioxide emissions and achieving carbon neutrality are of great significance to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the sustainable development, and are major strategic decisions made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China after careful consideration. Gansu Province deeply implements Xi Jinping's ecological civilization ideology, adheres to the organic integration of the goals of peaking carbon dioxide emissions and achieving carbon neutrality with the strategy of high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, in order to ensure that the Gansu section of the Yellow River Basin achieves the "dual carbon" goals as scheduled. Based on data from the "Statistical Yearbook of Gansu Province", this article analyzes the economic development, carbon emissions, and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin in Gansu Province. It is concluded that from 2009 to 2021, the gross domestic product, total carbon emissions, and per capita carbon emissions in Gansu Province showed an overall fluctuating upward trend, while the carbon emission intensity showed a downward trend year by year. In combination with the actual situation in Gansu Province, achieving the "dual carbon" goals in the Gansu section of the Yellow River Basin will help promote the process of ecological civilization construction, build a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system, promote energy consumption revolution, facilitate the upgrading and transformation of traditional industries, drive the construction of beautiful rural areas, and achieve the six aspects of significance for the people to live a better life.

High Quality Development of Ecotourism Along the Middle and Lower Reaches of the Yellow River Based on Big Data

The Yellow River basin is an important economic zone and an important ecological barrier in China. The ecological environment protection of the Yellow River basin is an important direction for the development of ecotourism. Promoting the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin through ecotourism can realise the rational utilisation of ecological resources development and environmental protection functions. This paper takes wetland scenic spots as the main research object, and under the guidance of high-quality development theory, environmental education theory, education evaluation and other related theories, conducts field research on the current situation of eco-tourism environmental education in wetland scenic spots in the Yellow River basin. Based on the expert opinions and literature analysis, the evaluation index system of ecotourism environment of wetland scenic spots in the Yellow River basin is constructed. The Yellow River estuary and sand lake ecotourism scenic spots are selected as the case sites, and the entropy weight fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used for comprehensive evaluation, and the reasons for the evaluation results are analysed. This model has laid a theoretical foundation for the research on the high-quality development of ecotourism along the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River in the context of big data.

Right to Food Policies, Justice and Sovereignty in Nigeria

This study assessed the right to food policies, justice and sovereignty in Nigeria. The main areas of concentration were: introduction, meaning of food policy, some food policies in Nigeria, types of policies, audit of right to food policies in Nigeria, past policy articulations (1900 – 1999), food policy articulation and policy thrust in 2003, food policy legislations, sovereignty of food and agricultural development among many others. The study indicated that food policy is a public declaration that conveys the decisions to pursue a specific course of action aimed at improving food production practices, ensuring output growth and the overall development of the food sector. Some food policies in Nigeria are; food crop production policy, livestock production policy, food commodity storage policy among others. The study identified three types of polices namely; position declaration, policy statements and discussion papers. Past policy articulations are: Timber/non timber policy 1937, food policy 1946 and food policy for the western region 1952. Some policy legislations were identified, namely: adulteration of produce ordinance No.67 of 1917; 29 of 1920, 8th November 1917, Weight and measurements Act No. 32 of 1974 to June 1975 and River Basin Development Authorities Act No.35 of 1st October, 1986. Some inventory of right to food sovereignty strategies in Nigeria includes: Sovereignty strategy formulations, commodity boards, National Accelerated Food Production Project (NAFPP), National Livestock Development Project (NLDP), Operation Feed the Nation (OFN) and Green Revolution among very many others. One major problem of food policy implementation is lack of a well-defined programme. In conclusion, Right to Food Policy, Justice and Sovereignty Implementation means money spent, laws enforced, employees hired, plan of action formulated and carried out successfully for the development of the Nigerian food sub-sector. But the problem with Nigerian food policies is the structure among which is the absence of central coordinating members. Also, the study recommended that there is the need for government to set institutions that will monitor the planning and execution of food polices projects. Study on the Sand Reduction Effect of Slope Vegetation Combination in Loess Areas

Slope erosion in the Loess Plateau region has long been a concern, and vegetation plays an important role in slowing down erosion and controlling sedimentation. However, a single vegetation model shows some limitations when facing complex natural conditions and variable rainfall events. Therefore, this study investigated the influence mechanism of vegetation configuration on slope sand production at different slopes through theoretical analyses and indoor experiments. The results of the study showed that certain factors, such as vegetation configuration mode, flow rate, runoff power, runoff velocity, and runoff shear, are closely related to slope runoff sand production. The specific findings are as follows: (1) Under the condition of slope gradient of 2°, the sand reduction effect of the rigid–flexible single-row staggered configuration is the most significant, and the sediment production is reduced by 29.89%. (2) With the increase in the slope gradient and flow rate, the sand production on the slope surface rises significantly, and when the slope gradient is increased from 2° to 6°, the average sand production is increased from 1.43 kg to 2.51 kg.(3) The erosion reduction effects of different vegetation configurations were in the order of rigid–flexible single-row staggered combination > flexible vegetation single combination > rigid–flexible double-row staggered combination > rigid vegetation single combination > upstream rigid downstream flexible combination > bare slope. This study provides a theoretical basis for optimizing the vegetation configuration for effective sand reduction and provides an important reference for the sustainable development of the Yellow River Basin.

Spatiotemporal Evolution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Industrial Carbon Emissions in the Yellow River Basin

Scientific assessment of industrial carbon emissions in the Yellow River Basin and identification of its influencing factors are of great importance for promoting green transformation, ecological protection, and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. Considering nine provinces in the Yellow River Basin as the research objects； using relevant data on industrial development and energy consumption in the Yellow River Basin from 2000 to 2019； and with the help of IPCC carbon emission measurement, spatial autocorrelation, and LMDI decomposition, the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics and influencing factors of carbon emissions from industries and industrial sectors in the Yellow River Basin were analyzed. Reasonable suggestions were put forward for reducing the carbon emissions from industries in the Yellow River Basin. The results showed that： ① From 2000 to 2019, industrial carbon emissions in the Yellow River Basin showed a fluctuating growth trend, with a decreasing growth rate. The spatial pattern changed from "low in the upstream and high in the middle and downstream" to "high and low value distribution," and the spatial difference gradually expanded. ② The high carbon industry was the most important source of industrial carbon emissions in the Yellow River Basin, accounting for 96.35% of the carbon emissions between the industries with a continuous growth trend, which was a significant difference. The middle and low carbon industry carbon emissions and the total proportion was low, showing different fluctuations； nine provinces and nine industrial industries had significant spatial variability. ③ Energy structure intensity, economic scale, and population scale promoted the increase in industrial carbon emissions in the Yellow River Basin and energy consumption intensity had an inhibitory effect on the increase in carbon emissions. The economic scale effect was positive and significant, which offset the negative effect of energy consumption intensity. Spatial variability was observed in the contribution value of the influence effect of the factors affecting the carbon emissions of the industry in nine provinces.

Nitrogen use efficiency of open-pollinated maize cultivars and topcrosses under low nitrogen soil

The study was conducted to evaluate the nitrogen utilization efficiency (NUE) of open-pollinated maize cultivars under low nitrogen soil conditions. It took place at the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority in Ilorin, Nigeria, during the 2019 and 2020 cropping seasons. The nitrogen treatments (0, 45, and 90 kg N ha⁻1) were assigned as the main plots, while the genotypes were designated as sub-plots in a split-plot design. The NUE of open-pollinated varieties (OPVs) and Topcrosses significantly increased with the application of 45 kg of nitrogen per hectare compared to 0 kg. Similarly, the maize grain yield for both OPVs and Topcrosses ranged from 1.40 to 3.57 t ha⁻1 and from 1.07 to 2.64 t ha⁻1 across the two years with the application of 45 kg of nitrogen per hectare compared to 0 kg. With the exception of days to 50 % silking, all other traits tested exhibited a significant correlation with grain yield. A gene pool for tolerance to low nitrogen may have been present in the cultivars Dmr-Esr Y Cif 2 and Acr 95 Tze Comp 4C3, which combined well with other cultivars to produce high grain yield and NUE. Topcrosses, including Ev Dt-Y 2000 Str C0 × Tze-W Dt Str C4, Dmr-Esr Y Cif 2 × Acr 95 Tze Comp 4C3, Ak 95 Dmr-Esrw × Tzb Rel D4 CO-W, Dmr-Esr Y Cif 2 × Tze-W Dt Str C4, and Br 9922 Dmr Sr × Ev Dt-Y 2000 Str C0, also demonstrated strong potential for maize grain yield and NUE. This suggests that these crosses could serve as promising candidates for developing low nitrogen tolerance in maize for low nitrogen soil environments. A positive relationship between fertilizer levels, NUE, and grain yield indicates that proper nitrogen fertilizer management can enhance both NUE and the grain yield of maize genotypes. Genetic analysis revealed that both phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) and environmental variance (δ2p) were higher than genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and genetic variance (δ2g), suggesting that environmental influences were more significant than genetic factors for the tested traits. Consequently, improving these traits may be achieved by manipulating environmental conditions.

The role of third parties in shaping transboundary cooperation of the Sixaola river basin (Costa Rica and Panama): an analysis through States’ involvement, technocratic turn, and reterritorialization

Transboundary water management in the Sixaola basin, shared by Costa Rica and Panama, has historically involved significant contributions from thrid - third and not thrid - parties. This study investigates their evolving roles and the implications for governance in this context. We conducted a comprehensive analysis of non-State actors interventions over time, focusing on changes in strategies, priorities, and their impact on transboundary basin governance. Our findings indicate that while non-state actor initiatives have attracted attention and financial resources, they have also introduced significant governance challenges, leading to inconsistencies in basin development. The analysis reveals that limited governmental involvement and the technocratic turn in development strategies have raised questions about basin development and its tangible impacts. Additionally, reterritorialization efforts highlight a local tendency to better align existing functional spaces with local concerns. This study contributes to the literature on transboundary basin management by providing insights into the multifaceted role of non-state actors in the Sixaola basin. It explores a case where governments remain distant in defining governance systems, highlighting the added value of focusing on non-state actors to grasp the complexity of hydropolitics and discussing the politics of river basin development.

Simulation of Spatial and Temporal Variations in the Water Yield Function in the Source Area of the Yellow River and an Analysis of Influencing Factors

The Yellow River source area is an important eco-fragile and sensitive zone in the northeast of the Tibetan Plateau, where anthropogenic disturbances, climate change, and environmental problems have negatively affected the amount of water in the basin, which directly impacts the ecological security and high-quality sustainable development of the Yellow River Basin. Therefore, this study takes the Yellow River source area as its research area. Based on eight periods of land use from 1985 to 2020, topographic, soil, and meteorological data are combined, and a locally modified InVEST model and geological detector method are used to simulate watershed water production, evaluate the spatial differentiation characteristics of watershed water production, and analyze its spatial heterogeneity attribution. The results revealed that water production from 1985 to 2020 varied within the interval of 152.08–302.44 billion m3, with alternating decreases and increases and an overall upward trend. In the spatial distribution, the depth of water production is high in the east and low in the west, and the high-water-production area is concentrated in the counties of Maqin and Gande. In the vertical gradient, the water production capacity is strengthened with increasing altitudes. The spatial differentiation of the water production service and degree of influence is jointly determined by multiple factors. In this work, the parameter Z of the InVEST model was locally corrected to increase the applicability of the Z value to the Yellow River Basin to improve the accuracy of the simulation results, and the spatiotemporal differences in water yield from multiple perspectives were analyzed to provide a scientific basis for the ecological protection and high-quality sustainable development of the Yellow River Basin.

Research on the Synergistic Evolution of Comprehensive Transportation Network System in the Yellow River Basin Aimed at High-Quality Development

The high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin is still facing the issue of imbalance and inadequacy, and it urgently requires the backing and assistance of a well-coordinated and efficient comprehensive transportation network system. Based on this purpose, this study uses a composite system synergy degree model incorporating “mode dimension + regional dimension” to analyze the evolution of this network. The results indicate the following: (1) Railway and air transportation surpass highway transportation in growth and synergy, though overall system synergy is still low. (2) Downstream areas are gradually taking the lead, and the orderliness of each subsystem is gradually becoming consistent. The complexity and variability of the composite system’s synergy are high, with an overall low level of synergy. Overall, despite improvements in service capacity and quality, better integration of different transport modes and enhanced cross-regional cooperation are needed. This study reveals and analyzes in depth the complexity of the comprehensive transportation network system in the Yellow River Basin and its spatiotemporal characteristics of synergistic evolution. We propose suggestions for high-quality development at national, regional, and industry levels, fostering the continuous improvement of the system structure, which aids in overcoming the tangible obstacles faced by the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.

Optimizing sustainable development in arid river basins: A multi-objective approach to balancing water, energy, economy, carbon and ecology nexus

The ongoing water crisis poses significant threats to the socioeconomic sustainability and ecological security of arid and semi-arid river basins. Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within a complex socio-ecological nexus requires effective and balanced resource management. However, due to the intricate interactions between human societies and environmental systems, the tradeoffs and synergies of different SDGs remain unclear, posing a substantial challenge for collaborative management of natural resources. Here we introduce a gray fractional multi-objective optimization (GFMOP) model to balance multi-dimensional SDGs through a novel water–energy–economy–carbon–ecology nexus perspective. The model was applied to a typical arid river basin in Northwest China, where thirty-two scenarios were explored, considering factors such as shared socioeconomic pathways, carbon removal rates, water conveyance efficiencies, and ecological requirements. The results reveal a strong tradeoff between marginal benefit and carbon emission intensity, indicating that improving the economic efficiency of water use can simultaneously reduce emissions and protect the environment. Given the immense power generation potential, wind power development should be prioritized in the future, with its share in the energy structure projected to increase to 23.3% by 2060. Furthermore, promoting carbon capture technologies and expanding grassland coverage are recommended to achieve regional carbon neutrality, contributing 39.5% and 49.1% to carbon absorption during 2021–2060, respectively. Compared with traditional single-objective models, GFMOP demonstrates a superiority in uncovering interrelationships among multiple SDGs and identifying compromised alternatives within the compound socio-ecological nexus. The model also provides detailed strategies for resource allocation and pollutant control, offering valuable guidance to policymakers and stakeholders in pursuing sustainable and harmonious watershed management.

Effect of Land Use Land Cover on the Hydrology of Rwizi River Catchment located in Southwestern Uganda

Changes in land use and land cover usually affect the hydrological processes of river flows, sediment transport, and water quality on a global scale. Hence, the objective of this paper was to investigate the effect of Land Use Land Cover (LULCC) on the Hydrology of Rwizi River Catchment located in South-western Uganda using appropriate standard techniques and procedures including Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). Model calibration and validation demonstrated good agreement (R² = 0.76-0.86, NSE = 0.75-0.78). LULC analysis revealed significant increases in built-up areas and forestland, with declines in grazing land and wetlands. These changes were driven by socio-economic factors and hydro-climatic influences. The study found strong correlations between LULC types and sediment yield, highlighting the implications for water quality and erosion control. The results show that urban growth raises surface runoff and peak flows as a result of a rise in impervious surfaces, whereas agricultural intensification raises water demand and lowers base flow, especially during dry spells. Deforestation has led to increased sedimentation rates, degrading water quality. These findings underscore the significant anthropogenic and climatic impacts on LULCC dynamics and hydrological processes in the catchment. The study emphasizes the critical need for integrated watershed management strategies to mitigate these impacts and ensure sustainable water management practices. By advancing understanding in hydrological sciences, this research informs policy and management decisions for sustainable development in tropical river basins globally.

Characteristics of spatial and temporal changes in ecosystem service value and threshold effect in Henan along the Yellow River, China

Ecosystem services (ES), which serve as the link between human activities and natural ecosystems, are crucial for maintaining ecological balance and supporting economic development. The Ecosystem Services Value (ESV) is an indicator used to quantifying ecosystem services. Accurately estimating the dynamics of ESV and the threshold effects of influencing factors is of great importance for the sustainable development of the region. This study constructs an ESV valuation model based on the equivalent factor method, incorporating construction land, and corrects the initial valuation results in three dimensions. By constructing a random forest model and integrating partial dependence analysis, Elevation, Evapotranspiration, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, and the proportion of built-up land area were identified as significant factors in determining ecologically vulnerable areas within the study region. The results show that: (1) The total ESV in Henan along the Yellow River in 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020 was 204.612 billion yuan, 249.775 billion yuan, 239.100 billion yuan, 234.868 billion yuan and 202.767 billion yuan, respectively. The overall trend of change is first growth and then decline, with spatial features remaining relatively stable, and ESV polarization becoming more pronounced. (2) The spatial clustering characteristics of ESV in Henan along the Yellow River are remarkable, and the cold and hot spot areas show a bidirectional expansion trend. The cold spot areas expand substantially around the construction land, whilethe hot spot areas show a small expansion around the western mountain areas and the vegetation areas along the Yellow River, but the overall growth is slower. (3) The main factors affecting ESV include three natural factors and one anthropogenic factor, namely evapotranspiration (ET), the proportion of built-up land area (POB), normalized vegetation index (NDVI) and elevation (ELEV). ESV is at a high level when ELEV>718 m, ET<90 mm, NDVI>0.7, and POB<25.67 % approximately. The study results can provide an important theoretical basis for the development of comprehensive ecological protection measures. Furthermore, they can contribute to the sustainable development of the Yellow River Basin.

Research on the impact of FDI and environmental regulation on the industrial structure upgrading in the Yellow River Basin

Introductions: Since the reform and opening up, the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) has provided a steady stream of capital, technology, talent and other resources for the development of the Yellow River basin, while caused problems such as environmental pollution, ecological fragility and industrial structure upgrading difficulties to some extent. Environmental regulation is a pivotal initiative to achieve mutual harmony between ecological environment and economic development, which could enhance the quality of the introduction of FDI and accelerate the green transformation of the development mode.Methods: Based on urban panel data from 2006–2019, this study empirically examined the impact of FDI and environmental regulation on industrial structure upgrading in the Yellow River Basin. Moreover, taking environmental regulation as a threshold variable, a panel threshold model was established to further explore the role of environmental regulation in the impact of FDI on industrial structure upgrading in the Yellow River Basin.Results: (1) The relationship between FDI and industrial structure upgrading in the Yellow River Basin is not a simple linear relationship, but an inverted “U”-shaped relationship that rises first and then falls, and the results of this inverted “U”-shaped relationship are still robust after replacing key indicators. (2) The environmental regulation policy has a driving effect on the upgrading of industrial structure in the Yellow River Basin. (3) Environmental regulation has a positive role in the influence of FDI on the industrial structure upgrading in the Yellow River basin, and the positive role increases gradually as the intensity of environmental regulation increases moderately, but if the intensity of environmental regulation is too high, it will have a negative impact on the upgrading of industrial structure in the Yellow River basin to some extent.Discussion: In the future, policymakers should make reasonable and effective use of FDI and improve the quality of FDI; reasonably formulate environmental regulation policies; coordinate the intensity of FDI and environmental regulation; thus, bring into play the promotion effect of FDI and environmental regulation on industrial structure upgrading, and then realize the win-win of ecological protection and high-quality economic development in the Yellow River Basin.

Impact of seedbed types and scarification methods on germination percentage and growth performance of Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc.) in the Sudan Savanna zone of Nigeria

The field experiments were conducted during the 2021 and 2022 wet seasons at The National Institute for Horticultural Research, Bagauda, and Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Wudil, both in Kano State within the Sudan Savannah agro-ecological zone of Nigeria. The study aimed to find a better seedbed arrangement and the best scarification methods for good germination and growth of Bambara groundnut cultivars. The treatments consisted of four seedbed types (ridge, ridge+earthing, flat, and flat+earthing), four scarification methods (zero, mechanical, acid, and hot water treatments), and three cultivars (cream, black, and speckled). The treatments were factorially combined and laid out in a split-split plot design with three replications. Seedbed was assigned to the main plot, scarification methods were assigned to the subplot, and cultivars were assigned to the sub-subplot. Data collected were days to first emergence, establishment count (%), canopy height (cm), and kernel yield (kg ha-1). The result indicated that mechanically scarified Bambara groundnut seeds resulted in a higher establishment count and uniform canopy height (cm), which led to more dry matter accumulation and a higher kernel yield (kg ha-1).

Performing A Discrete Element Method Simulation Using A Linear Vibrating Screen for the Sieving Performance Analysis of Sand Particles

In order to respond to the strategic deployment of ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, to solve the problem of separating river sand mixtures in the lower reaches of the Yellow River, and to improve the screening efficiency of river sand separation by linear vibrating screen, a large amount of literature is consulted, which show that the main factors affecting the screening efficiency and the screening quality during the screening process of linear vibrating screen are: the vibration frequency, the amplitude, and the inclination angle of the screen surface. Therefore, this paper takes sand as the research object, simulates the screening process of sand under different parameters in linear vibrating screen based on the discrete unit method (EDEM) , uses Hertz-Mindlin with JKR contact model, by changing the parameters of vibration frequency, amplitude, screen surface inclination angle, observes its impact on the screening performance and changes in the screening process of the material, and obtains the optimal screening efficiency with the screening efficiency of sand as a measure. As a measure, the vibration parameter set of optimal screening performance was obtained. Through analyzing the simulation results, it is found that the optimal vibration parameters of linear vibrating screen are: vibration frequency f =25Hz, amplitude A =4mm, screen surface inclination angle φ=4°, and the screening efficiency can reach 95. 77%. The results of this study show that the discrete element method has a good reliability for different process parameters to produce screening efficiency, and the study can provide a corresponding reference for the selection of vibrating screen parameters.

Research on green development measurement and regional differences in the China's Yellow River Basin based on the ecological function orientation

The ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin have become a national strategy. This study takes 57 cities in the Yellow River Basin as research samples, employs the green total factor productivity (GTFP) to characterizes the level of green development, introduces an improved mixed distance (MEBM) Windows model and an algorithm containing the background differences to measure the level of green development, and further uses the Dagum Gini coefficient to analyze the regional differences. It shows that the level of green development of Yellow River Basin exhibits a downward trend during the study period when the ecological function orientation (EFO) is not considered, however, the downward trend is significantly narrowed when the EFO is considered, and 91.23% of the sample rankings is changed. According to these results, the study samples are divided into three types: the controlled development zones, the moderate development zones, and the transition development zones. The inter-regional differences are the main factors that causes the regional differences in the green development of Yellow River Basin. Based on the results, we propose the relevant policy recommendations that can provide a decision-making basis for promoting the ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin according to the local conditions.

Ecohydrological indicators and environmental flow assessment in the middle and lower reaches of the Huai River, China

The vitality of river ecosystems is vital for the sustainable development of river basins, with the assessment of environmental flow (EF) playing a pivotal role in eco-informatics. This study delves into the middle and lower reaches (MLR) of the Huai River basin (HRB) in China, utilizing hydrological data spanning from 1950 to 2020. Its principal objective lies in the selection of ecohydrological indicators to refine the estimation of EF in the HRB. Employing principal component analysis (PCA), ecologically relevant hydrological indicators (ERHIs) were discerned and scrutinized for their hydrological characteristics. The analysis extended to evaluating hydrological shifts at different stations using ERHIs, determining suitable EF in the MLR, and delineating the trajectories of appropriate intra-annual flows in different hydrological years through HEC-RPT. Based on a variety of mutation test methods, the change point of runoff sequence was determined in 1991. The PCA analysis identified eight ERHIs, reflecting hydrological changes of 49.79 % and 56.26 % at Bengbu and Sanhezha, respectively, which indicate a moderate alteration. Based on ERHIs, the other stations in the HRB exhibited hydrological alterations ranging from 33 % to 47 %, notably highlighting substantial changes in maximal 30d flow and flow fall rate. The optimal flood pulse discharge in the middle reaches is 4150 m3/s, 3140 m3/s and 2150 m3/s in wet, dry and dry years, respectively. Downstream, flood pulse flow in wet, normal and dry years should exceed 4070 m3/s, 3110 m3/s and 1980 m3/s, respectively. The research contributes significantly to the management of rivers and the sustainable conservation of the ecological milieu.

Summary of Research on Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Digital Rural Construction in the Yellow River Basin

In the Outline of Ecological Protection and High quality Development Plan for the Yellow River Basin approved at the 2020 conference, innovative concepts are integrated throughout the entire process, and the development of the Yellow River Basin will collide with innovation to create new sparks. This article systematically reviews the current research on digital rural construction and explores the relationship between artificial intelligence innovation and digital rural construction. Based on the research on relevant issues in the Yellow River Basin, it is pointed out that in the future, more attention should be paid to the coupling and coordination relationship between artificial intelligence innovation and digital rural construction in the basin.

A study of macroinvertebrate community structure and diversity in response to land use type in the Yiluo River Basin

Land use types have a significant impact on river ecosystems. The Yiluo River is the largest tributary below Xiaolangdi Reservoir in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, and is one of the important water conservation areas in the Yellow River Basin. Studying the ecological status of the Yiluo River under varied land use types in this basin is crucial for both ecological protection and the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. This study investigated the impacts of land use types on the macroinvertebrate community and functional structure in the Yiluo River Basin and introduced the concept of the land use health index (LUI). During the survey period, a total of 11,894 macroinvertebrates were collected, and 143 species were identified, belonging to 4 phyla, 7 orders, 22 families, and 75 families. The results showed that LUI had the most significant impact on macroinvertebrate community structure, with substrate type, dry plant weight, total phosphorus, turbidity, and attached algae biomass also playing significant roles in affecting macroinvertebrate communities. The species richness, the Shannon-Wiener index, and the Margalef richness index exhibited a nonlinear positive correlation with LUI of the sampling site, increasing as LUI enhancing and eventually reaching a plateau. Functional richness showed a linear and positive correlation with LUI, increasing with its enhancement, while functional evenness and functional divergence exhibited a nonlinear correlation with LUI. Functional evenness initially increased and then decreased with the enhancement of LUI, while functional divergence decreased with LUI enhancement.
