Execution of IoT System using Blockchain with Authentication and Data Protection

Abstract: Blockchain allows users and data providers to ensure authentication, authorization and data validity with proper multi-key exchange authentication for user identity and hash key for Blockchain so that the data is not just stored but also validated each time the user access. In this paper, we apply Zero Knowledge proof to a Strong rooms using RFID Card reader and Camera module IoT systems to prove that a prover without disclosing information such as public key enhances the anonymity of Blockchain

SMART DOOR LOCK DESIGN WITH INTERNET OF THINGS

Most of today's electronic devices are becoming smart and traditional house doors are lagging behind this technology. With the development of technology, the need for remote and rapid control of devices has increased. With the internet of objects, it was possible to make the devices remotely available over a Wi-Fi network. In this study, remote control of the devices has been done by using ESP32 development board which includes Wi-Fi module. Here, an intelligent system consisting of ESP32, android based remote control application, solenoid door lock, fingerprint sensor, RFID card reader and keypad is provided. With the ESP32 module, doors that can be controlled remotely and intelligently can be controlled and transmit data instantly. So; a device that is controllable, safe, economic, easy to control.

A Waste Segregation Bin

Abstract: The primary idea of this project is to create a waste segregation bin which is equipped with a number of sensors to effectively sense the nature of waste and place it in the correct bin. We are also using a LIDAR system so that it can traverse autonomously from house to house in order to collect the waste sample. The system is also equipped with a RFID module so that it can reward the person who uses it. The waste bin would also be attached with an ultrasound sensor connected to a web application using NodeMCU so that the authorities can monitor the level of waste present in the bin. This would save fuel for them and it would also help the companies requiring those waste products to know beforehand how much waste they will get on a particular day. The companies will pay the authorities some amount for the waste product. The authorities will keep some amount for maintaining the equipment and building more such items and pay the rest to the persons who provide the waste as the data is already available through the RFID card reader. It would be a benefit for the companies as they are getting the waste at a lower cost, the citizens would get a reward for throwing the waste in the proper bin. IoT based Touch-free Attendance System (ITAS)

In this paper, we are proposing a contactless temperature measuring and attendance monitoring system because of the pandemic COVID-19. This design is developed using Node MCU, MLX90614 Infrared Thermometer, RFID Reader, and Ultrasonic Sensor. It measures body temperature with an infrared temperature sensor without any physical contact. An RFID card reader is used for scanning the identity card. The ID number and the temperature of students are uploaded into the webpage. This webpage can be monitored over the internet. The details such as Entry time, ID number, No. of students and temperature measurements are stored in the server and displayed in webpage. An Ultrasonic Sensor is used to measure the distance between the sensor and the person. The temperature sensor can measure the temperature when the distance between the sensor and person is around 10 cm for better accuracy. This system is essential in this pandemic situation to avoid the infections.

RFID Based Authentication for Non-contacting Attendance Management during Covid19 Pandemic using Raspberry Pi

Authentication based attendance is very crucial in this COVID Pandemic situation for employers. Finger print based authentication for attendance system is not preferable because it is based on touching or contacting the finger print sensor. Multiple persons use the same sensor for incoming and outgoing authentication which becomes carrier for spreading the corona virus as another person would be in direct contact of the fingerprint sensor. To avoid this situation RFID based authentication system is proposed and initial stages of it are implemented in this paper. Each employee has given an RFID tag with numbers and names assigned to it. Raspberry Pi module is used which is interfaced with other modules like RFID card reader, LCD interface and GSM module. The contact details authenticated by the system can be saved in data file for further analysis of employees’ attendance. This small innovative step can enhance the efforts made to prevent every user from COVID19.

RFID BASED SMART SYSTEM FOR STORING DATA

The main functionality of this project is to access the passport details of a passport holder through RFID technology. For this purpose the authorized person is given an RFID card. This card contains an integrated circuit that is used for storing, processing information through modulating and demodulating of the radio frequency signal that is being transmitted. Thus, the data stored in this card is referred as the passport details of the person.Passport verification and checking is a very time consuming process. This proposed system simplifies the process by giving the authorized person an RFID tag containing all the passport details like name, passport number and nationality etc. Once, the person places the cardin front of the RFID card reader, it reads the data and verifies it with that data present in the system and if it matches then it displays the details of the passport holder. Here we use microcontroller from 8051 family. For display a 16X2 LCD is used. The status also can be retrieved from this system by pressing the status button interfaced to a microcontroller.
 
 Further the project can be enhanced by using finger printer module. This overcomes thedrawbacks of RFID and provides high level of security in the system.

Assessment on a Dime: Low Cost User Data Collection for Assessment

Abstract Objective – This article describes the construction and use of a low cost tool for capturing user demographics in a physical library. Methods – At the Health Sciences Library of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, we created the Tap In/Tap Out tool to learn about the demographic details of our library visitors, such as their status, school affiliation, and department. The Tap In/Tap Out tool was implemented twice for two weeks in 2013 and 2017, with users voluntarily tapping their campus ID when entering and leaving the library. We checked campus ID numbers against university databases to fill in demographic details of the library users. Results – We constructed the Tap In/Tap Out tool using a Raspberry Pi and RFID card readers mounted on a foam board poster and placed near the library entrance. Participation in the Tap In/Tap Out tool ranged from 5-7% of the library gate count numbers during the survey periods. Though low, this participation provided a useful indication of user demographics that helped to strengthen library discussions with university administration. The 2013 survey results, which showed that the library space was actively used by students from all the constituent Medical Center schools, were used to support funding justifications. The 2017 survey results, which showed continued library usage, were used to illustrate the value of the library to the Medical Center community. Conclusion – The Tap In/Tap Out tool was inexpensive to implement and provided more information about library visitors than gate counts alone. Findings from the Tap In/Tap Out results were used to demonstrate library usage and justify funding. We describe how other libraries might create and implement the tool to capture greater levels of detail about the users visiting their spaces.

Scalable, efficient, and secure RFID with elliptic curve cryptosystem for Internet of Things in healthcare environment

The rapid development of IoT technology has led to the usage of various devices in our daily life. Along with the ever-increasing rise of the Internet of Things, the use of appropriate methods for establishing secure communications in health care systems is vital. The adoption of high-security optimal mechanisms for this purpose has been more effective regarding the efficiency of medical information systems; hence, many studies are being conducted in this field today. One of the most important components is the RFID cards that can be used for communication between entities in the environment. In healthcare systems, patient information is critical and nobody should have access to this information. Thus, providing security for these networks is essential. Recently, good researches have been done in the area of authentication for medical information systems, using RFID technology, which has a low computational cost. In this paper, we propose a novel method based on elliptic curve cryptography for vital and efficient and scalable authentication between RFID cards, card readers, and servers. This proposed method maintains security and has less computational cost and low elliptic curve point multiplication running time compared to similar recent methods.

Transport Safety Mechanism of School Children Using IOT based Smart System

Most of the Students in Sultanate of Oman are using bus to reach their schools. Bus considered as one of the convenient way of traveling. As most of Students are traveling from home to school or vice versa by bus. Safety is the biggest concern and issue. Bus driver and parents are responsible for providing safety and security to the schoolchildren’s. Many of children went to school and never returned home afterwards. This is because the child feels tired and then sleeps after a hard school day. The bus driver did not pay attention to the presence of a sleeping child in the school bus and the bus driver closes the windows and the door, causing suffocation and death. There are also a lot of accidents that might happen on school buses, so researcher are working to find the way of tracking school bus which is very important for the monitoring of location and track students throughout journey from and to school. This research paper presents IOT smart transportation system for a children school. The system consists of IR sensors to calculate the number of students, RFID card and RFID reader to read student data and attendance recording as well as MQ3 sensor for alcohol sensing and to ensure the safety of the driver. It also contains a mobile application to get notifications and messages and shows other information such as the time of riding the student on the school bus and coming off the bus you can also take the latest coordinates and thus follow the bus via Google Map.

Automated Milk Quantity and Quality Checking and Vending Machine

In this paper, each farmer is provided with a separate RFID tag, which has a unique code. When the RFID tag is punched against RFID card reader LCDs the code. Milk is deposited in the tank where its quality and quantity is determined. The quality of milk is examined using a pH sensor and its quantity is determined using an ultrasonic sensor. The milk is segregated into third categories depending on its quality as first quality, second quality, and rejection. Here three solenoid valves are used for segregation purposes. The milk is deposited in separate tanks according to its quality. The details such as cost, quality, and quantity of milk are fed to PC. The customer deposits the currency note. The web camera is used to capture the image of the currency note and it is compared with the database stored in PC. Here a switch is used for quality selection based on customer preference. Milk is vended based on the rupee note deposited and on the quality selected by the customer. The entire system is maintained with a refrigeration temperature of 4°C.

Novel Implementation of Defense Strategy of Relay Attack based on Cloud in RFID systems

Radio frequency identification technology (RFID) is widely used in identity authentication and payment, and it also becomes an indispensable part of daily life. Cloud-based RFID systems have broad application prospects, and can be provided as a service to individuals or organisations. For example, RFID cards can be used for cash-less payment, physical access control, temporary rights and identification in cloud environment. When an RFID card is used, there is a wireless transaction between the card and its reader, which could be attacked by several methods, including a relay attack. Relay attacks are difficult to completely prevent and a serious threat to RFID systems security. An attacker could use limited resources to build up this kind of attack and may need little knowledge of the underlying protocol. In recent years, researchers have proposed solutions using second channels to resist relay attack, such as using environmental measurements including noise, light and temperature. This paper describes research on the defence techniques for relay attacks in cloudbased RFID systems. The cloud-based architecture for RFID systems typically consists of RFID tags, card readers (fixed or mobile) and cloud-based server functionality.

"Automated Trolley System for Airport "

Our Baggage Trolley System ensures that the user can easily access their trolley for transportation of their baggage to their respective terminals of the airport. Everyone would like to lower the high cost wherever it is possible. The amount of costs generated by the baggage loss within the air travel is maximum. As the aircraft can only take off if all the checked-in baggage has its owner on board. If not, the baggage has to be offloaded. In the proposed project the user need not to carry the luggage; the trolley will reach its pre-defined terminal. The trolley will be operated by the RFID card reader to identify the location. Load cell is used for the identification of weight of the luggage. This system will provide full security to the luggage. The costs generated by baggage loss are very high for both the airlines and the airports. The application of RFID technology would reduce these costs extremely. The RF transmitter and receiver are used to identify whether the trolley has reached its correct terminal if not the trolley is enrooted to the correct terminal

Development of a Two Factor Authentication for Vehicle Parking Space Control based on Automatic Number Plate Recognition and Radio Frequency Identification

This paper proposed a two factor authentication for vehicle access controls using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and Radio Frequency Identification system (RFID) for the University of Zambia (UNZA) vehicle access points. The University of Zambia is experiencing increasing challenge of car parking space and vehicle access controls to and within campus premises. The survey that was conducted reviewed that members of staff found difficulties finding parking spaces due to intrusion. The survey also reviewed that vehicles have been stolen within campus parking areas without detection. An access control system using integrated ANPR and RFID technologies was developed to provide five authentication states that met different vehicle access point’s requirement. It was built with ‘ORed’ and ‘ANDed’, logic settings to achieve five different states of authentication levels, each suited for a particular access point. The ANRP system used the vehicle number plate to authenticate the vehicle through the use of the camera. On the other hand, the RFID system used the drivers’ card/tag through the RFID card reader to authenticate the user. Daily transaction records were sent to the security center where information would easily be retrieved. Illegal access to restricted areas, threats of theft of motor vehicles and failed transaction recording system was amicably solved by this proposal.

Development of Microcontroller Based Two Stage Student Attendance Management System

The progress on today's technologies has brought many advantages. Wearable technologies, telecommunication, robotic systems, 3d printers and many other applications provide great convenience for human life. Sensor technologies are also among these applications. Performing a process by controlling or co-operating the sensors also provides a significant benefit in eliminating difficulties for humans. One of the places where sensors are used is recognition systems. In the recognition process, the user materials are used such as the card, fingerprint, iris, face etc. Digital identification systems are recognition systems that can be done with various sensors and provide various benefits for the users. In the scope of this study, student attendance management system that comprises two stage control processes has been realized. At the first stage, the student ID card is read in the RFid card reader module and then the person information is checked from the database and go to the second stage. At the second stage, the fingerprint of the student is read by fingerprint sensor and the student is given the possibility to transition after the database control. Time and login information are recorded in the database when the student uses the system. Thanks to this system, it is aimed to get rid of some problems, such as sign someone else's, reading the student card someone else's, etc., in the student attendance management system.

Research on Effective Distance Based on 13.56 M RFID Card Reader

The valid distance range of the reader of 13.56MRFID card reader is obtained through the theoretical inference and actual measurement of the reading distance of the RF card reader according to ISO14443A and ISO15693 protocols, and the mathematical modeling is made to obtain a more accurate effective distance The model can provide a reliable theoretical support for the layout and leakage rate of RFID card readers.

Design and Implementation of the Health Examination Robot Control System Architecture

The paper research a health examination robot, which set height, weight, blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, blood oxygen, electrocardiogram (ECG), energy check in one certain. In the design, adopt 32 bit embedded ARM micro controller NuMicro NUC140, RFID card reader, oxygen check control module and ECG check control module, taking into account the system connection and RFID identification, parameters of historical data query and ECG check process. Experimental data show that system functions are realized and to promote low-cost medical treatment.

A RFID Reader Design and Complication Based on MFRC531 Chip

RFID belongs to the basic input device in the IOT(Internet of Things) applications. The country has attached much importance to the technique and application of IOT, and RFID has been widely used in logistics, warehousing, traffic, cattle raising and some other industries. The thesis employs MFRC531 chip and Atmel 89C518 bit microprocessors to design and realize a RFID card reader which can be characterized by simple circuits, easy to realize and convenient to debug. Thus, it may be referred by IOT technicians.
