Latin American Scientific Production on Burnout in Scopus, 2010 - 2020

This research aimed to characterize the Latin American scientific literature production on burnout between 2010 and 2020. A descriptive study was carried out with Latin American publications in journals indexed in the Scopus database as the unit of analysis. The variables studied were document frequency, scientific production by country, number of authors, institutional affiliation and scientific production by descriptor on burnout. The documentary type that appears the most is research papers with 85.03%. Out of a total of 154 authors affiliated to 163 Latin American institutions, the trend of scientific production by country shows that Brazil leads with 52.51% of the production in Latin America. The journals with the largest production were Revista da Escola de Enfermagem (n= 8), Revista Brasileira de Medicina do Trabalho and Revista Latino Americana de Enfermagem, with 22 documents each. Scientific production studies on an area of knowledge guide the research work. Thus, knowing what publications have been made on burnout will allow us to establish a Latin American research policy that will benefit the psychological discipline. However, it is necessary to increase the number of studies on burnout in Latin America in order to consolidate authorship collaboration and the literature on the subject.

Bibliometric Analysis of Nursing Articles Focused on Health Education

This study aimed to analyze the references of articles with the approach to Health Education, published in Brazilian journals of nursing classified as Qualis Nursing A1 and A2. Descriptive study. Setting: SciELO library. We analyzed the references of 113 articles which were used to study the theoretical and methodological framework of bibliometrics, which aimed to promote subsidies for obtaining evaluation indicators of production, contributing to the expansion of scientific knowledge produced and disseminated among authors and researchers in nursing science. The main results showed the prevalence of article such as document most often quoted, references with 5 - 9 years of temporality, from Brazil and in Portuguese. The journals most frequently used were the Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem e a Revista Latino Americana de Enfermagem. Provided a vision of what is being referenced in nursing publications in Brazil, with regard to the Health Education.

Producción científica de enfermería sobre instrumentos genéricos que evaluan calidad de vida en Brasil entre 1997 y 2007: estudio bibliográfico

Objective is to analyze scientific production published by nurses that used generic instruments of evaluation of quality of life, in Brazilian journals indexed in the Biblioteca Virtual de Saude (BVS), among 1997 and 2007. It is a bibliographic research. The research was realized using the descriptors quality of life and nursing, available in the DECS (Descritores em Ciencias da Saude). They were selected articles that in the methodological trial used quality of life’s generic instruments. Most of studies about this theme were published in Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem. The most used instrument was WHOQOL-Bref that is a short instrument and that demands less time to its application. It is observed a publication increase using these instruments since 1997. Populations are varied, meaning that these instruments are generics. Results show that researchers are focused in quality of life’s evaluation, and it shows the worry in knowing life aspects that are more envolved in different populations, and in this form act to contribute for better patients’ quality of life.

Nursing journals and medication management: identification and categorization of publications from 1987 to 2008

This study aimed to identify and categorize publications about themes related to medication administration in Brazilian nursing journals between 1987 and 2008. From a survey in the main health databases, we reviewed literature about the theme in six Brazilian journals, classifying the articles into care, teaching, research, technique, medication errors, communication and specific drugs. One hundred eight articles were identified, particularly in the Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem and the Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem. The author Cassiani and the category specific drugs stand out as responsible for the largest number of articles published. Efforts need to be added up with a view to a more expressive production of articles on medication administration.

Analysis about production of nursing knowledge on health education and aging

This study is exploratory, of qualitative nature and has the objective to identify the bibliographical production of nursing related to the aging, to the education in health and the methodological strategies, in Brazilian publications, from 2000 to 2006. Online database BDENF was used to search the articles and the keywords were: health education, aged, aging, behavior and nursing. Eight articles had been identified and five were chosen which are in the following publications: Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem (two), Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem (two) and Cogitare Enfermagem (one). The discussion of the selected articles was based on the technique of content analysis. The results had demonstrated that the subjects education in health and aged people have little space in researches by Brazilian nursing, in this period and at the database consulted, and group activity was distinguished as predominant methodological strategy of education in health. In such activity, the promotional actions of the autonomy of aged individuals had been valued. It is recommendable that the subject of the study could take part in new inquiries because population aging is a reality tending to expansion. The increment of studies in this area is needed; therefore the education in health is relevant for the process of human aging with quality.

A utilização da categoria processo de trabalho pela enfermagem brasileira: uma análise bibliográfica

The aim of this study was to identify, in bibliographic production, how Brazilian nurses have been discussed "work process" in nursing practice. The bibliographic research was realized in Lilacs, in a period from January of 1993 to December of 2003, and focus the periodics: Acta Paulista de Enfermagem, Nursing (SP), Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem, Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP, Revista latinoamericana de Enfermagem e Revista Texto e contexto de Enfermagem. The key words used were: process and work and care; process and work and nursing. The results show that is small the bibliographic production that using "work process" like a category of analysis of nursing practice, and there are a concentration of this production in articles that focus tools of nursing work In this study were find 40 articles and the most of them was published in Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem in the year of 2000.

A formação do enfermeiro: uma aproximação à recente produção científica (2001-2005)

Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar resultados preliminares da produção científica sobre a formação profissional do enfermeiro divulgada em periódicos científicos brasileiros. As fontes deste estudo são a Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem e a Revista Mineira de Enfermagem (Reme), escolhidas entre 129 periódicos brasileiros na área da enfermagem, cujos textos completos estão disponibilizados on-line no Portal de Periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes). Entre editoriais, artigos de pesquisa, artigos originais, revisões bibliográficas, relatos de experiências, notas/informativos, foram selecionados 36 textos da Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem e 15 da Reme. A análise desse material compreendeu a leitura dos resumos para a identificação do tema central - formação do enfermeiro - e a leitura dos textos completos selecionados, da qual emergiram três núcleos temáticos: fundamentos pedagógicos, ensino de enfermagem e currículo. A análise das produções evidencia uma articulação entre a formação e as recentes políticas públicas para saúde e educação, representando contribuições relevantes para repensar o perfil profissional do enfermeiro a ser formado e a proposta curricular desenvolvida nas instituições de ensino de nível superior.

The teaching of gerontogeriatric nursing in Brazil from 1991 to 200 seen under the complexity of Edgar Morin

The present study had the following objectives: to identify the characteristics of gerontogeriatric nursing such as exhibited on Brazilian Nursing Journals; and to draw a reflection on the teaching of gerontogeriatric nursing in undergraduation courses, based on identified characteristics as seen under the Complexity of Edgar Morin. A qualitative research, it had as a data-source 9 proceedings volumes of Brazilian Nursing Congresses (281 abstracts, of which 260 are on gerontogeriatrics and 21 on the teaching of gerontogeriatric nursing), plus 7 national nursing publications: “Revista Texto e Contexto em Enfermagem”, “Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP”, “Revista Gaúcha de Enfermagem”, “Revista Enfermagem da UERJ”, “Revista da RENE”, REBEN, “Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem” (186 Journal issues of which 88 articles on gerontogeriatrics and 9 covering the teaching of gerontogeriatric nursing) for the 1991-2000 period. The main body of this article comprised 16 scientific articles on the teaching of gerontogeriatric nursing, where software was used for a qualitative analysis – QRS- NUD*IST4. Results made possible to perceive teaching during the research period conducted as: the mandatory subject, the introduction of specific contents in various subjects, the participation on extension work, and extra-curriculum training stages. Contents were presented through the themes: the aged; growing old; old age; gerontology and geriatrics; gerontogeriatric nursing turned to conceptual aspects; work process, nursing process, care to the elder – in houses for the aged, dependent and undergoing surgery, family care, care given to family carers, and care given at home. Such findings strongly support the thesis that Brazilian nursing already understands the gerontogeriatric field as a void still to be filled, requiring roads for an autonomous and/or multidisciplinary team work professional action, and interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary work. To think of the teaching of gerontogeriatric nursing or any other subject matter, in Nursing, using the Principles of Edgar Morin’s Complexity is tantamount to perceiving educative teaching as trying to convey a culture enabling the future worker to: understand the human condition; think in a contextualized, open, globalized, ethics, dialogic, recursive and hologrammatic form; and, to direct this worker towards: acquiring qualifications, learning how to do research, to develop practical classes and/or training stages, and other activities turned to the care of the elderly, reconnecting the various knowledges with other disciplines, having as the main target of this educational teaching the human, professional, and ecological care.

A scientific evidence: the OBJN has more quantitative and qualitative links

It is very important to a scientific journal the citation index. The ejournals are emerging and there is not a consensus protocol to evaluate them. But, the OBJN and other Brazilian ejournals were evaluated by a team research. We present and discuss here part of this report.Marcondes et al (2004) evaluated the Brazilian emerging ejournals in science and technology. they created a methodology based on analysis of links to ejournal’s site. The authors point out that they did not have a feed back from an expert in nursing, so they supposed that these results may be due to the fact that the OBJN is published in English. Beside that, the OBJN has also link of site considered authority (Brazilian university library). The authors observed that in the foreign links, there are many digital reference services from libraries outsideBrazil (and they refer the OBJN). So, they consider that this may indicate the need to adjust and fine tune the methodology and to enlarge the concept of authority, encompassing the foreign digital reference services.But what are the implications of these research results to the OBJN?First of all, it is very good sensation to got a scientific evidence related to what was a common sense.The OBJN has published 07 numbers totalizing 27 original articles, 20 revision articles,07 opinion articles, 11 these abstracts, 09 editorials, 01 book review and 12 professional communications. Since article submission until its publication takes almost 3 months. The OBJN has more than 47 international peer-reviews. The OBJN is indexed or linked to Brazilian Nursing Association, CINAHL, CUIDEN, DOAJ, Free Medical Journals, Latindex, LIS-BIREME, Nurses. Info, RealNurse, and so on.The OBJN has free access and received more than 11.000 page views since its creation. The last number published in April 2004 received 2450 page views!
