Efforts to Increase Students’ Islamic Religious Learning Outcomes Through Nasyid in Elementary School

This research was motivated by initial observations which showed the low learning achievement of Islamic Religion for the rest of class III at SDN 064969. It was proven that only 45% of students' learning achievement of Islam was complete. Because students are bored with the monotonous learning process. So the researcher offers the application of Nasyid. The purpose of this study was to determine 1) the significance of differences in the acquisition of Islamic learning by using nasyid in class III SDN 064969. 2) The interaction between the use of nasyid and learning styles with the acquisition of Islamic learning for third grade students of SDN 064969. The research method used was PTK. . The research was carried out in three cycles, consisting of planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The subjects in this study were the third grade students of SDN 064969 as many as 35 people. The research data were obtained from observation guide sheets, interview guidelines, questionnaires, learning outcomes and field notes. The results obtained from this study are 1) There is a significant difference in the acquisition of learning Islam with nasyid. 2) There is a real interaction between the use of nasyid and learning styles with the acquisition of Islamic learning. Through this research, it is understood that nasyid extracurricular activities help elementary school students in improving Islamic religious education learning outcomes.

The research method used is classroom action research (CAR) which consists of 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of 4 stages namely; 1. Planning, 2. Implementation, 3. Observation, 4. Reflection, data collection techniques used are observation and documentation methods, with data analysis techniques using descriptive percentages, results of research and discussion showing the results of evaluation of group learning in the first cycle of action I 1`4,66 began to develop (MB), and there was an increase in the second action 62% was developing, and in the results of evaluation of individual learning in action I 31% began to develop (MB), and 62.50%, then an increase occurred significant in the second cycle, among others, on the eveluation of learning cycle II group action I 75% and the second action 98.77%, while the results of individual learning on action I cycle II 87.5% and 98% in the second action. so that it can be concluded that in order to improve speaking skills using the method of telling stories in early childhood children education in pomarimoi Tomute Sungi villageof Tongute Sungi,sub-district of Ibu can increase optimally. Polyphenol intake and differentiated thyroid cancer risk in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) cohort.

Polyphenols are bioactive compounds with several anticarcinogenic activities; however, human data regarding associations with thyroid cancer (TC) is still negligible. Our aim was to evaluate the association between intakes of total, classes and subclasses of polyphenols and risk of differentiated TC and its main subtypes, papillary and follicular, in a European population. The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort included 476,108 men and women from 10 European countries. During a mean follow-up of 14 years, there were 748 incident differentiated TC cases, including 601 papillary and 109 follicular tumors. Polyphenol intake was estimated at baseline using validated center/country-specific dietary questionnaires and the Phenol-Explorer database. In multivariable-adjusted Cox regression models, no association between total polyphenol and the risks of overall differentiated TC (HRQ4 vs. Q1 = 0.99, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.77-1.29), papillary (HRQ4 vs. Q1 = 1.06, 95% CI 0.80-1.41) or follicular TC (HRQ4 vs. Q1 = 1.10, 95% CI 0.55-2.22) were found. No associations were observed either for flavonoids, phenolic acids or the rest of classes and subclasses of polyphenols. After stratification by body mass index (BMI), an inverse association between the intake of polyphenols (p-trend = 0.019) and phenolic acids (p-trend = 0.007) and differentiated TC risk in subjects with BMI ≥ 25 was observed. In conclusion, our study showed no associations between dietary polyphenol intake and differentiated TC risk; although further studies are warranted to investigate the potential protective associations in overweight and obese individuals.

Integrity and Competence Auditor influence on the Quality Examination in South Sulawesi Provincial Inspectorate. This study aimed to analyze the effect of integrity and competence of the auditors on the quality of the examination results on the inspectorate South Sulawesi, and to analyze which variables are dominant. Gathering data using questionnaires distributed to 93 respondents, while questionnaire to restore as much as 73. Of these respondents, there are 42 people or 57.53% aged over 40 years, while the remaining <40 years. Male respondents as many as 48 people or 65.75% and women by 25 people or 34.25%. Working period 1-10 years as many as 33 people or 45.21%, and 55.79% above 10-year tenure. Group III as many as 53 people (72.60%) while the rest of class I, II, and IV. S1 education level as many as 45 people, or approximately 61.64%, while the remainder had high school education, Diploma, and Magister. Training of the most widely followed as much as two times the number of 24 people (32.88%). The results showed that either simultaneously or in partial, Integrity and Competence positive and significant impact on the quality of the results of the Inspectorate of South Sulawesi province. Thus, the first hypothesis is proven research. Of two independent variables used in the quality of the examination, competency variables that have a dominant influence on the quality of the examination results in the Inspectorate of South Sulawesi province. Thus, the second hypothesis of this study is proven.

Role of Economic Class in Ascertaining Social and Emotional Maturity of Adolescents

The present study was undertaken to assess and compare the social and emotional maturity of 277 randomly drawn class XI students of Pantnagar, Uttarakhand across family economic class. A self-designed questionnaire was used to study the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents of the present study. Social and Emotional maturity of the respondents were assessed employing Rao's Social Maturity Scale and Emotional Maturity Scale, respectively. The study revealed that adolescents from higher and upper middle class family were significantly more personally adequate than those from rest of the classes whereas, on social adequacy component, adolescents from higher class were observed to be significantly lower than those from rest of the family classes. Adolescents from higher income family were seen to be significantly more socially adjusting and independent than those specifically from lower income family. On the whole adolescents from higher income family were seen to be significantly more emotionally mature in comparison to the ones from other classes. Social maturity and emotional maturity were found to be significantly and positively correlated with each other across family economic class.

Birth-and-Death Evolution in Primate MHC Class I Genes: Divergence Time Estimates

The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is a multigene family that mediates the host immune response by helping T lymphocytes to recognize and respond to foreign antigens. The high degree of polymorphism and a quick turnover of the genetic loci make the evolution of MHC genes an intriguing subject of study. To understand the evolutionary pattern of this multigene family, we studied the phylogeny and divergence times of six functional MHC class I loci from primate species. On the phylogenetic trees, locus F occupies the most basal position among these loci. Our results suggest that the F locus diverged from the other MHC class I loci about 46-66 MYA. The major diversification of the other class I loci was estimated to have occurred at about 35-49 MYA, which is before the time of separation of Old World-New World monkeys. The gene duplication leading to the classical C locus in great apes appears to have occurred about 21-28 MYA. At approximately the same time the duplication of the B locus occurred in macaques. The oldest allelic lineages of A, B, and C loci in humans seem to have appeared at least 14-19, 10-15, and 13-17 MYA, respectively. Our phylogenetic analysis supports the hypothesis that the nonclassical locus F has diverged from the rest of class I loci very early in primate evolution. The overall phylogenetic pattern observed among class I genes is consistent with the model of birth-and-death evolution.

Poetry as a Lens: Alternative Ways of Seeing the Novel

As a result of this kind of teaching, students often enter a poetry lesson resistant because of previous negative encounters. Inevitably, in trying to get them to analyze and understand a poem, poem becomes enemy-a force to struggle with and ultimately conquer. Unfortunately, what is left in end, for even most successful students, is an experience and a poem that are both limp and lifeless. Instead, over years I have redirected my teaching. I try to move students away from concept of poetry as an object that is taken examined, and reexamined and toward use of poetry as a critical or interpretive lens through which other literature may be experienced and understood. I use this approach with my seventh graders in our reading class, where I teach students a variety of reading strategies-making predictions, connecting and supporting ideas, understanding character, figuring out difficult vocabulary-to guide them through novel. I thought poetry could be another means to aid their understanding. Recently we read Gary Soto's Taking Sides, a novel that explores what happens to a Mexican American teenager, Lincoln Mendoza, when he moves from city to suburbs. Throughout book Lincoln struggles with internal and external conflicts. For example, he changes from ethnic majority to minority; he initially opposes his mother's white boyfriend; he grapples with changing perceptions of his best friend, who accuses him of becoming white; he confronts a prejudiced basketball coach; and he struggles to develop a relationship with Monica, a Mexican American girl. In our study of this book students responded in a journal to each chapter. I encouraged them to make observations, substantiating them with examples from text. I also asked them to jot down open-ended questions to which rest of class could respond that would bring us further into novel. Using this framework, we discussed many themes and kept an ongoing list of big ideas. Among ideas students found in Taking Sides were torn between different environments, the loss of something valued, friendship, racism, being different, starting new, love interests, growing apart, and finding a place in world. When we finished novel, I gave students a packet of poems taken primarily from book, Latino Poetry, but which also included several thematically related selections from our edition of Taking Sides. A methodology for active, student-controlled learning

This paper outlines a methodology to improve the performance of the weakest students through networked hypermedia and in-class exercises. These efforts are an outgrowth of experiments using networked hypermedia in the form of the World Wide Web (WWW) as the basis for networked courseware [1-4]. While initial approaches significantly enhanced the performance of the average and best students, there was no noticeable gain in the performance of the weakest students [4]. They continued to come into class without preparing and expected to somehow condense the learning process into five 55-minute sections every two weeks. In order to enhance the performance of these students, a series of procedures were developed that should increase their performance while minimizing any negative impact on the rest of class. The first procedure uses a networked, Common Gateway Interface (CGI), form-based Student Response System to enhanced communications and expectations between the student and professor. The Student Response System automates the grading of homework assignments, and as a result, facilitates nightly homework assignments without increasing the grading load on the professor. The second component of this methodology involves developing a series of graded, in-class, group exercises that can be easily graded in-class, represents a substantial portion of the final grade, and requires a public presentation of the group's results. Together, these tools and practices form a methodology for reaching the weakest students and enhancing their performance.
