The Re-development of Proxsis Workspace with Responsive Design and Multiplatform approaches using Flutter Framework

Most of previous studies implemented the responsive design approach for the web-based application platform only since it had several difficulties to apply in the mobile-based application platform. In addition, the mobile application required different codebases since there were several platforms like Android and iOS. However, this study tried to redevelopment the Proxsis Workspace website to mobile application with responsive design and multiplatform approaches using Flutter Framework, in order to explore the potentials and counter the difficulties these two approaches for mobile development. In addition, we provide the detailed improvement, and the software testing results of our redevelopment app. Eight participants were participated in this study to measure the improvement of the redevelopment application. The results showed that the redevelopment version of the Proxsis Workspace could implement the responsive design and multiplatform approaches well. Furthermore, the software testing found that the redevelopment version passed the responsive design and multiplatform testing. In addition, there was significant different and enhancement of the usability score from 52.50 with marginal category to 72.81 with acceptable category. Hence, the authors suggest implementing the responsive design and multiplatform with Flutter Framework to enhance and make efficient with single code base only.

Responsive Web Design Trend in Official Ministries and Government Institutions Websites in Palestine

Websites compatibility with different browsers is quite necessary as modern technology evolves and more new devices are being invented. This paper aims at determining the application of the Responsive Web Design approach in the Palestinian ministries and governmental institutions. Thirty official websites in Palestine were evaluated and tested using Google DevTools, which is a testing environment that provides a quick and easy way to test websites on mobile devices and tablets, and the Google Mobile-Friendly Test Tool, which analyzes URLs and progress reports on a site's relevance for mobile users. Maintaining accuracy in results, real devices were used to test the responsiveness of the websites. The survey results have shown that 40% of the ministries and official governmental institutions' websites are responsive ones, 30% are semi-responsive, and 30% are unresponsive websites. They also have revealed that 43% of the websites are compatible with mobile phones and tablets. The study highly signifies the responsive design technology as it is a suitable and viable solution for providing web content in an effective and efficient manner for the users of desktop devices and mobile phones with different screen sizes. The researchers also recommended that websites providing electronic services should be given special attention and that a responsive design approach should be used with different dimensional frameworks.

Comparative Analysis between different types of Responsive Design Approach: (Applicability to Use in Different Climatic Regions in Egypt)

Building and environment integration are necessary to be enabled, and advanced systems must work together to deliver optimal performance in terms of energy comfort and health. Above all, the area where building technology and services overlap, i.e. responsive building components, has great potential to realize the next step in energy efficiency by realizing comfortable indoor and outdoor environments in unprecedented ways. Recent studies have shown that an important reason for introducing new methods as population density increases is to reduce environmental damage. Energy consumption in the built environment accounts for approximately 40% of final energy consumption. In addition, external factors that affect building performance are analyzed, such s Overall building impact, energy consumption, pollution, and climate change. To achieve sustainability, it is proposed to use and implement the latest in smart materials and responsive system technology. The results of the dynamic thermal behavior analyze performed in the Building Concepts building simulation tool are then translated into energy, sustainability, and cost performance indicators, allowing the user to generate information based on the most relevant factors. This paper, therefore sheds light on new design and construction methods that enable buildings to interact with their external environment and achieve architectural responses to surrounding variables. This study aims to clarify the importance of responsive architecture to improve the built environment and the appropriate type of envelope based on climate data, applicable to different climatic regions of Egypt. The results confirm that implementing responsive envelopes has a positive impact on improving performance.

Responsive Design Approach towards the Sustainable Mosque Architecture

This paper’s primary purpose is to design a sustainable mosque for communal development that adapts to the surrounding area. The National Mosque and The Mizan Mosque were selected as prominent case studies emphasizing the study of form and space. Thus, this study summaries new ways of describing mosque design, using structural and semiotic paradigms as a methodological approach to studying the relationship between mosque design and sustainable aspects. The guidelines developed from this study are helpful for designers, builders, developers and relevant authorities to build mosques as sustainable community development in the future.

Malaysian Administrative Building Responsive Design Approach

The main purpose of this paper is to elucidate on the study of state administrative building in Malaysia by describing the design built form and it adaptation towards the surrounding. Using multiple case study approach, Perdana Putra and Parliament Malaysia were chosen as prominent case studies with emphasis on form and space studies. Since this paper formulates new ways to describe on state administrative building design, it uses interpretive paradigm and semiotics as the methodological approach to study the relationship between building design and sustainable aspects. This paper is of value for practicing architects and society as it offers new insights by formulating design approaches in designing public architecture in Malaysia.

Motivational Psychology Driven AC Management Scheme: A Responsive Design Approach

Global warming, and the resultant climate change, has become an urgent global issue. One potential partial solution to this problem and the focus of this paper is to design energy management mechanisms for buildings that encourage users’ acceptance of the technology for increased environmental sustainability. Particularly, this paper focuses on the design of an energy management technique for the air-conditioning (AC) systems in residential buildings that considers users’ views on how they use such technology. Note that while a large number of energy management mechanisms are available in the literature for ACs, most of these studies, however, do not consider how well the users may accept their use in the building. To address this issue, this paper first synthesizes some motivational psychology literature to understand users’ attitudes toward adopting such management techniques for the ACs within the building. Then, the obtained insights from various motivational models are incorporated into the design of an energy management scheme that encourages consumers to accept the technology that reduces electricity consumption, the cost of electricity, peak power from the grid; and the generation of CO2 in the residential building. Finally, some experimental results are provided to illustrate how the designed energy management mechanism validates the motivational psychology models in terms of providing various benefits to the users, and thus shows the potential of being accepted by them.

Conceptual Narratives of Yung Ho Chang's Cross-cultural Practice

ABSTRACTUnder economic reform and social liberalization in post-Mao China, a new generation of independent Chinese architects has emerged. Among those architects, Yung Ho Chang is a pioneering and prominent figure. His design strategies are shaped primarily by his cross-cultural background and exposure. A salient feature of his works is conceptual narratives, in which the three major themes are everyday objects, voyeurism and the subversion of material norms. Apart from examining his conceptual narratives, this article also discusses his design-studio teaching at MIT, which signifies a shift toward a more socially responsive design approach. His practice continues to cross cultures, not only contributing to the development of contemporary Chinese architecture, but with growing influence worldwide. Besides architectural design, his practice is diverse and in some ways multidisciplinary, with participation in international exhibitions, curatorship, teaching, product design and publications.
