Attitudes and Barriers to Patient Participation in Evidence-Based Practice From Chinese Nurses' Perspectives: A Qualitative Content Analysis.

Patient participation plays a vital role in evidence-based practice (EBP), yet its development in clinical nursing is slow. Current research has focused on identifying barriers to patient participation in everyday care, with less research on barriers to patient participation in EBP. Therefore, a questionnaire containing basic information and open-ended questions was used to explore nursing staff attitudes and barriers to patient participation in EBP. Responses to the open-ended question were analyzed with content analysis. Four roles of patient participation, positive and negative attitudes toward patient participation, and 134 barriers to patient participation in EBP were extracted from 121 nursing staff responses through content analysis. Five categories of barriers were extracted from the 134 barriers to patient participation, including patient, cost-effectiveness of EBP, healthcare staff, organization, and resource. This study found that patients' acceptance and trust in EBP also influenced their participation in the practices. Moreover, nursing staff have little knowledge of engaging patients in EBP. More educational strategies and organizational support should be provided to patients and nurses to promote patient participation.

This study is grounded in the recent surge in popularity of K-POP idol pop-up stores, highlighting the need to understand how these spaces provide cultural experiences to fans and strengthen fandoms. The primary objective is to propose strategies for implementing both physical and social service scapes in K-POP idol pop-up stores. In the research process, the study emphasizes key elements of the physical scape, including locality, rarity, temporariness, convenience, aesthetics, and safety. For the social scape, the focus is on enhancing the professionalism, responsiveness, and friendliness of staff, as well as promoting customer similarity and appropriate behaviors through a deep understanding of fan culture to boost interactions and a sense of belonging among fans. The research findings confirm that the proposed physical and social scape strategies enhance the attractiveness of K-POP idol pop-up stores and improve visitors' experiences. However, the study acknowledges a limitation in that it does not empirically examine visitors' behaviors or psychological factors. To address this limitation, subsequent research should involve more in-depth analyses and a variety of case studies. The significance of this study lies in providing practical implementation plans for pop-up store operators and assisting K-POP pop-up stores in functioning as venues for cultural experiences. This, in turn, plays a crucial role in strengthening fandoms and enhancing the value of idol brands.

Exploring patients' perspectives on healthcare service quality in outpatient settings at a public hospital in Palembang, Indonesia: A qualitative study.

In recent decades, the service sector has become a crucial driver of economic growth globally. However, research highlights the need for implementing a patient-centered design in hospital services and notes the limited literature on patient perceptions of healthcare service quality in Indonesia. This study aimed to explore patients' perceptions of healthcare service quality in outpatient settings at a public hospital in Palembang, Indonesia. The study employed a qualitative descriptive design, conducting face-to-face, in-depth interviews with 50 outpatients (ages ranging from 34 to 56 years) between October and November 2023. Purposive sampling was used to recruit participants, and thematic analysis was utilized for data analysis. The following themes emerged regarding patient perspectives on healthcare service quality: patients' perceived service quality, perceived value, satisfaction, and revisit intention. Factors influencing patient perceptions included the appearance of hospital staff, the quality of facilities and equipment, staff responsiveness, knowledge, courtesy, and empathy. Additionally, word-of-mouth significantly impacted patients' perceived value of care. Emotional factors, complaints, and trust were found to be crucial in shaping patient satisfaction, while the patient-provider relationship played a significant role in influencing revisit intention. The research emphasizes the critical role of building strong patient-provider relationships to enhance overall service quality. It highlights the need for healthcare providers and nurses to focus on improving patient engagement and understanding how perceived service quality affects patient loyalty. Strengthening these areas is essential for advancing comfort, safety, and the overall quality of healthcare services.

The Impact of Mock Code Blue Drills on Staff Confidence Levels in the Outpatient Setting a Quality Improvement Project in Abu Dhabi

Data shows sudden cardiac arrest is still one of the leading causes of death in Europe and the United States (Berdowski et al., 2010). Healthcare professionals must provide immediate and proper resuscitation, which directly impacts the patient likelihood of survival. Mock code drills play a pivotal role in healthcare education and training, by enhancing the participants' confidence levels. This increased confidence, in turn, contributes to improved clinical performance and patient outcomes. Within the hospital setting, resources and personnel are readily available in the event of a medical emergency, however in the outpatient setting the stakes may be higher due to lessened resources and manpower (Urman, Punwani and Shapiro, 2012). To date, there is very little research surrounding medical emergencies in the outpatient settings, this highlights the need for further investigation as cardiac arrest is a high risk low volume emergency that many healthcare professionals feel unprepared and ill equipped for (Monachino et al., 2019). This Quality Improvement (QI) project explored the impact of mock code blue drills on healthcare professional’s confidence levels in the outpatient setting. Over three months, monthly code blue drills were conducted in two separate outpatient locations. Staff involved in this QI completed a pre and post drill survey consisting of nine statement with five-point Likert scaling assessing their confidence levels. Results in this QI showed an overall improvement in the confidence of clinical staff after taking part in mock code blue drills. There were limitations to this QI including a low response rate, small sample size, as well as external factors such as a faulty public announcement system impacting the drills. Future recommendations include increased frequency of drills, qualitative research to explore staff’s perceptions and high-quality simulation equipment. Code blue drills should be completed every three months to safeguard patient safety and promote staff responsiveness in a true cardiac arrest event.

Exploring Consumer Satisfaction and Service Quality at Bhatbhateni Supermarket

Background: Customer satisfaction and service quality are pivotal to the success of businesses, particularly in the competitive retail landscape of Kathmandu. Bhatbhateni, as one of the leading retail chains in Nepal, plays a crucial role in offering a wide array of products and services. Understanding customer perceptions regarding service quality and satisfaction is essential for enhancing operational strategies and maintaining a competitive edge in this dynamic market. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the demographic profile of Bhatbhateni's customers, evaluate their perceptions of service quality and satisfaction, identify key service needs and expectations, and assess the likelihood of repurchase and recommendations among customers. Methods: A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing structured questionnaires distributed to a sample of 120 customers of Bhatbhateni, selected through convenience sampling to ensure a diverse representation of gender and age. The questionnaire encompassed demographic inquiries and Likert scale items measuring customer satisfaction, service quality, and overall service experience. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics to summarize findings and identify trends in customer perceptions. Findings: The results indicated that the sample comprised 53.3% male and 46.7% female customers, with 61.7% of respondents aged between 15-25 years. A substantial 70.0% of respondents felt that Bhatbhateni understood their service needs effectively. In terms of satisfaction levels, 43.3% of customers reported being somewhat satisfied, while 12.5% expressed being very satisfied with the products. Moreover, 45.8% of respondents rated Bhatbhateni's quality management as good, and 41.7% positively rated staff responsiveness. Additionally, 48.3% indicated a high likelihood of repurchasing products, and 61.7% stated they would likely recommend Bhatbhateni to others. Conclusion: The study reveals a generally positive perception of service quality among Bhatbhateni's customers, highlighting key areas of strength and potential for improvement. Customer satisfaction is significantly influenced by the understanding of service needs and the quality of management. These findings suggest that Bhatbhateni is well-positioned for sustained growth through enhanced customer engagement and service delivery. Novelty: This research contributes valuable insights into the relationship between service quality and customer satisfaction within the specific context of Bhatbhateni, a prominent retail chain in Nepal. By employing a structured questionnaire and statistical analysis, the study adds to the limited existing literature on customer service perceptions in Nepal's retail sector. The findings can guide Bhatbhateni and similar businesses in developing targeted strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty, ultimately enhancing business service management practices in the region.

Towards a New Era of Flexibility: Student and Staff Reflections on Online Learning

Higher Education is in the midst of a digital revolution, with institutions bidding to harness the potential of technology. Periods of online learning experienced during recent times have accelerated the move towards widespread adoption, affording institutions the opportunity to evaluate and reflect on digitally mediated approaches. This report focuses on student (n = 584) and staff (n = 54) experiences of online teaching and learning in a large UKHEI Psychology department. Findings from mixed methods surveys suggest that while staff and students were largely satisfied with the online teaching and learning experience, differences were evident in undergraduate and postgraduate perceptions. Further, a thematic analysis identified emergent themes from staff (teaching and working online, student engagement with online learning and looking to the future) and student (experiences of emergency provision, accessing support, and teaching methods) qualitative responses. This paper reflects on how the perceptions and experience of online learning will influence the future success of flexible online learning in a post-pandemic era of Higher Education.

Access to finance and its impact on operational efficiency of MSMEs: mediating role of entrepreneurial personality and self-efficacy

PurposeThe present study aims to investigate the factors of loan access that affect entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) and operating efficiency of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Furthermore, the study intended to investigate the influence of ESE on the operating efficiency of Indian MSMEs and its mediating role.Design/methodology/approachIn this study, exploratory research design is used. The study heavily relies on the primary data which has been collected by using the survey research method from a cross-section of 617 women-owned MSMEs, located in urban, rural, suburban and exurban areas of Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and NCR-Delhi. The partial least square structural equation modeling method version 3.3.3 has been used to evaluate.FindingsIn terms of the selected factors affecting access to finance, it has been established that the Loan Formalities, Banking Process, Loan Process, Staff Responsiveness and Incentive Scheme have a positive and significant influence in enhancing accessibility to finance and improving the self-efficacy and operating performance of firms. The findings also show that ESE mediates the relationship between various factors of loan access and the operating efficiency of MSMEs.Research limitations/implicationsThe study’s findings show that entrepreneurial capacity is significantly and favorably impacted by attitudes toward entrepreneurship, ESE, perceived access to findings and business operations. It has also been demonstrated that entrepreneurial intentions are strongly and favorably influenced by entrepreneurial ability to access commercial bank financing for small businesses and the impact of the same on the women-owned MSMEs in India. It also revealed unfavorable loan terms, limited collateral, fear of repaying of loan and intricate loan application were among the many reasons for loan denial.Originality/valueThe study offers a comprehensive approach that simultaneously considers financial accessibility and ESE. This all-encompassing method offers a thorough grasp of the variables affecting MSMEs' operational efficiency (OE). In contrast to earlier research that might have concentrated only on direct relationships, this study explores the mediating mechanisms involved. This study examines how ESE modulates the influence of financing availability on OE, providing a comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms. By taking into account particular MSME sector characteristics like size, industry or regional variations, the study may provide a unique contextual lens. Understanding how these contextual factors interact with entrepreneurial attributes and access to finance adds depth to the analysis.

Ethical aspects of staff responses when older people with dementia express false beliefs.

Challenging false beliefs are common situations among people living with dementia. They frequently imply time-shifts, that is, situations in which the person re-lives past experiences. Since they have emotional implications and important ethical implications, they are difficult to manage by caregivers, who are faced with the decision of telling or not telling the truth. The study aimed to explore professional staff's perceptions of common and best practices to manage a situation in which a person living with dementia is having a false belief, specifically a time-shift. The study compares technical staff's and assistant carers' responses. Forty-two staff members working in four Spanish long-term care facilities were interviewed. 21 were assistant carers and 21 were technical staff. This study involved a qualitative design, content-analyzing participant's responses to semi-structured interviews. Participants read a vignette about a person living with dementia having a time-shift and were asked (1) how a situation like that is commonly managed and (2) how it should be managed. The principles of informed consent, confidentiality, and assessment of consequences for participants were observed throughout the entire study, which was approved by the University of Barcelona Ethics Committee (IRB 00003099). Written participant's consent was obtained prior to interviews. All the participants mentioned having experienced a situation similar to that described in the vignette. In the case of common practices, lying was the most frequently mentioned strategy. As for best practices, lying and telling the truth were mentioned as well as responses that lie in-between, such as distracting or relaxing. However, most assistant carers reported that they do not know how a challenging false belief should be managed. Our findings stress the importance of organizational guidelines and staff development in the management of challenging false beliefs (and specifically time-shifts) in PLWD.

Emotional Responses of Hospital Staff to the DASS-21 Survey During Mass COVID-19 Testing After the Relaxation of Prevention and Control Measures in Zhejiang, China, and Their Change Trajectory.

To investigate the emotional response of hospital staff to the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) over the COVID-19 pandemic and after the relaxation of prevention and control measures in Zhejiang Province, China, and identify influencing factors. Multicenter online cross-sectional design. From January 10, 2023, to January 20, 2023, 1054hospital employees in Zhejiang, China, were recruited using WeChat. Data was gathered via online, self-administered surveys. T-tests and one-way analyses of variance, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple linear stepwise regression analyses were used to examine the data. More than 90% of hospital employees were infected with COVID-19. Through regression analysis, the following variables were found to be independent predictors of emotional response to DASS-21: resilience (-13.346, P < 0.0001), sleep (14.689, P < 0.0001), friend support (-4.278, P < 0.0001), education level (2.699, P = 0.007), and marriage (-2.214, P = 0.027). The emotional responses were not as severe as predicted, but they were still well above the Chinese norm. A longitudinal comparison of DASS-21 emotional responses with similar studies showed a parabolic downward trend over time. Our results identified education level, marriage, friend support, resilience, and sleep as independent predictors of emotional responses to the DASS-21 among hospital workers in this outbreak. Improving the mental resilience and sleep status of staff is a key target. Unmarried medical personnel with higher education should be given greater attention and support by management. In addition, there is still room for further improvement in the government and societal responses to similar outbreaks. The study also found a parabolic downward trend in DASS-21 emotional responses among hospital workers during the COVID-19 outbreak over time.

Cyber Fraud, Causes and Its Effect on Money Deposit Banks

The study examined cyber fraud, causes and its effect on money deposit banks (DMB) in Nigeria: a study of Zenith Bank. The main objective is to examine electronic frauds, causes and its challenges in the banking sector. The study is hinged on two hypotheses; 49 branches; sample of 557 staff. Structured questionnaire was used to capture the response of the bank staff and it was analyzed using statistical package for social science version 27 (SPSS). Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were employed in the data analysis. Among the findings were accounting fraud by bank staff, identity theft, money laundering, phishing, pharming, computer virus, lack of oversight function,lack of standards, financial loss, absence of national central control, lack of credible infrastructure, porous internet, lack of national functional database, and inadequate awareness by bank customers were the challenges militating the effort towards curbing the cyber fraud in the banking system in Nigeria. The findings also revealed that cybercrime reduced productivity; vulnerability of banks Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and security audit. The study recommends adequate antivirus and antimalware software technology and the use of multi-factor authentication, use of biometrics, automatic logout are the solutions identified to curb cybercrimes in banks. The study concluded that the place of security in the cyber space of banks in Nigeria cannot be oversemphasied, therefore necessary measures should be put in place towards mitigating cybercrime in Zenith Bank. Equally, Zenith Bank should employ stringent measures to monitor staff activities especially in the confidentiality of customer information, cyber security audit should be done on regular basis, sensitization of bank customers, and Multifactor authentication, biometrics and automatic log out, and strong firewall should be adopted by Zenith Bank.

Effect of staff competence on customer loyalty in the hospitality industry in Sri Lanka

This research investigates the relationship between staff competence and customer loyalty within the Sri Lankan hospitality industry. This study addresses a critical gap in understanding how skilled and professional service personnel impact guest satisfaction and long-term patronage. Simple random sampling was utilized to gather data from the 384 respondents using a survey questionnaire. Five independent variables were identified from literature which are staff knowledge, staff skills, staff attitudes, staff friendliness and staff responsiveness. All five variables exhibited positive correlations with customer loyalty and significant association with customer loyalty. According to the findings, staff competence is vital in encouraging customer loyalty within the Sri Lankan hospitality industry. The recommendations include that hoteliers prioritizing employee development and cultivating a service-oriented culture can create lasting bonds with their guests, contributing to long-term business success. This research provides valuable insights for academics and industry practitioners to explore further and strengthen the crucial link between service quality and customer loyalty in the dynamic Sri Lankan market.

Developing An Online Course To Increase Staff Awareness And Responses To Unwanted And Illegal Sexual Behaviour Perpetrated Against Older People

Abstract Background The idea that older people can be victims of unwanted sexual behaviour or sexual assault in health and social care settings is relatively recent. In the Irish context, 165 reports of sexual abuse of older people were made to the HSE National Safeguarding and Protection teams in 2022. The prevalence of sexual abuse against older people in health and social care settings is poorly understood and there is an acknowledgement that hospital staff require additional training to understand and manage incidents. Methods In response to the need for training and support for staff, an online awareness-raising course based on a pre-developed course from Australia ‘Preventing unwanted sexual behaviour against older people in health and social care settings’ will be adapted, trialled and tested in a large acute teaching hospital. This course sets out to support acute care staff to identify and manage incidents of sexualised behaviour, to seek expert help and to ensure that older people are protected from unwanted and at times, what may constitute illegal sexual behaviour. Results The adapted course ‘Understanding and Responding to Unwanted or Illegal Sexual Behaviour Perpetrated against Older People in Health and Social Care Settings’ utilises a trauma-informed lens and key themes covered include defining unwanted sexual behaviours, understanding older people and sexual behaviour, risk factors for sexual abuse, barriers to recognising and reporting abuse and managing incidents. Conclusion The ‘trial and test’ will involve a feedback survey (N=50 respondents) and focus groups with participating healthcare professionals from the hospital site informing further refinement of the course content in preparation for wider rollout and implementation across Ireland's health and social care settings.

The impact of light adjustment versus tuneable white mode on ICU staff’s circadian rhythms

ABSTRACT The significance of lighting design in intensive care units (ICUs) for healthcare professionals’ demanding work and its profound impact on health, visual comfort and overall well-being cannot be overstated. This study investigates the potential of controlling luminous flux and spectral characteristics to enhance ICU lighting environments. It aims to determine whether modifying the lighting spectrum positively affects health without compromising visual comfort and colour discrimination. Two distinct LED lighting configurations were tested. The first adjusted only light levels, providing insights into staff responses. The second used tuneable white lighting, allowing changes in spectral content and colour temperature throughout shifts, resembling natural light variations. Effects were assessed via subjective perception surveys and objective colour rendering tests. Physiological impacts were evaluated through urine and blood samples, analysing melatonin suppression and cortisol levels, crucial for regulating rhythms and stress. Results offer valuable insights into lighting’s impact on ICU occupants’ well-being, highlighting the potential benefits of spectral adjustments while maintaining visual comfort and colour discrimination. This holistic approach to lighting design in critical care settings emphasizes the importance of balancing health benefits with lighting quality.

‘Fundamental British values’: navigating nationalism and teacher practice

ABSTRACT Attempts to locate ‘Britishness’ within a context of loyalty to a set of shared values, have drawn upon discourses rooted in both contemporary and Imperial British histories. A central plank of the approach adopted since the early 2010s is the ‘Fundamental British Values’ (FBV), emerging from the British counter-terror strategy Prevent (2011). This paper interrogates the responses of school staff to the FBV, particularly expressions of discomfort regarding the policy’s nationalist overtones drawn from staff interviews, policy documentation and on-site photography obtained from an inner-south London primary school,. These responses are explored using Appadurai’s (1990) conception of ‘scapes’ in relation to globalisation, which highlight some of the strategies used by staff to manage this discomfort relative to their statutory duties. Finally, the broader implications and ideological foundations of the strategies chosen by staff are examined and spaces for deeper engagement with the FBV are examined.

A case-control study of behavioural and built environment determinants of COVID-19 transmission in sheltered markets

BackgroundIn July 2021, amid occasional COVID-19 community transmission, an outbreak in a seafood wholesale centre propagated secondary clusters in sheltered markets in Singapore. This period offers a unique chance to study COVID-19 transmission risk factors related to environmental features and personal behaviours in markets. Only 40 % of the population was vaccinated during this period. MethodsA two-tier case-control study was conducted. The first tier entailed site assessments of markets where primary cases, presumed to have acquired COVID-19 at the seafood wholesale centre, worked. Markets with secondary cases (case markets) were compared against those without (control markets). The second tier comprised telephone questionnaires administered to individuals who worked at or visited the three markets with the highest number of secondary cases, with respondents either testing positive or negative for SARS-CoV-2. ResultsAssessment of 38 markets showed that markets “seeded” with more primary cases were more likely to experience a secondary outbreak (adjusted odds ratio, aOR: 2.0; 95 % confidence interval, CI: 1.3–4.7). From 333 visitor responses, maintaining social distancing (aOR: 0.34; 95 % CI: 0.11–1.06) and completing vaccination (aOR: 0.25; 95 % CI: 0.07–0.95) decreased infection risk, while using public washrooms increased the risk (aOR: 3.12; 95 % CI: 0.87–11.00). Among 86 staff responses, statistically significant risk factors were gender and mask type: male staff (aOR: 0.14; 95 % CI: 0.02–0.62) and those wearing surgical/N95 masks (aOR: 0.10; 95 % CI: 0.01–0.71) had lower infection risk. Wider aisles of the markets correlated with a higher chance of secondary transmission (aOR: 2.5; 95 % CI: 1.3–6.7). ConclusionThese findings underscore the importance of considering both built environment features and individual behaviours in devising effective measures to mitigate COVID-19 transmission in markets and community hubs in general. The observed association of wider market aisles with increased risk could be attributed to these facilitating the gathering and intermingling of more individuals, underlining the importance of maintaining social distancing. The identified individual risk factors among different populations within the market environment highlight the need for population-specific measures for infection prevention.

Patient Satisfaction in Rural Versus Non‐Rural US Hospitals

ABSTRACTIntroductionAssessing patient satisfaction is an effective way to provide an evaluation of the quality of healthcare services. As a result, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Patient Survey was established as the first standardized national survey to publicly report patient ratings on hospital care. There remains a lack of research that examines rural–urban distinctions in patient satisfaction. The objective of this study was to investigate if there is a difference in hospital determinants of patient satisfaction among hospitals based on rural status.MethodsThe study utilized two public datasets containing HCAHPS survey results from 4714 US hospitals and from eligible cancer hospitals that participate in the Prospective Payment System‐Exempt Cancer Hospital Quality Reporting. The data were collected from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 and published by Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services. Rural status of each hospital was determined by matching zip codes with data provided by the Health Resources &amp; Services Administration.ResultsA total of 3248 hospitals were included in the analysis, with approximately 51.14% located in rural areas. There was a significant difference across every hospital determinant when comparing rural and non‐rural status. Rural hospitals had a higher score for every hospital determinant (Cleanliness, Nurse communication, Doctor communication, Staff responsiveness, Communication about medicines, Discharge information, Care transition, Overall hospital rating, Quietness, and Willingness to recommend the hospital), indicating better performance.ConclusionRural hospitals demonstrated better HCAHPS performance across every hospital determinant in comparison to urban hospitals, suggesting possible recent improvements. Future research is necessary to investigate this trend and its consistency, which can inform targeted interventions to better address the healthcare needs of diverse populations in the United States.

This study aims to evaluate patient perceptions of aspects of health services at RST TK III Wirasakti Kupang, including reliability, guarantee, direct evidence, empathy, and responsiveness. This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional study design. The research results show that staff response, physical appearance, empathy, and consistency in service have a positive and significant effect on patient satisfaction. However, warranties have a negative influence on patient satisfaction. Patient satisfaction was then identified as a mediator that influences patient loyalty. Staff response, physical appearance, and empathy have a positive and significant effect on patient loyalty through satisfaction. On the other hand, reliability and guarantee have a negative but insignificant effect on patient loyalty through satisfaction.

Promoting men-inclusive maternity services: exploring the expectations, experiences and needs of men as fathers

AimThis study aimed to explore the ‘real time’ expectations, experiences and needs of men who attend maternity services to inform the development of strategies to enhance men’s inclusion.MethodsA qualitative descriptive design was adopted for the study. Semi-structured face-to-face or telephone interviews were conducted with 48 men attending the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital before and after their partner gave birth. Data were coded and analysed thematically.ResultsMost respondents identified their role as a support person rather than a direct beneficiary of maternity services. They expressed the view that if their partner and baby’s needs were met, their needs were met. Factors that contributed to a positive experience included the responsiveness of staff and meeting information needs. Factors promoting feelings of inclusion were being directly addressed by staff, having the opportunity to ask questions, and performing practical tasks associated with the birth.ConclusionAdopting an inclusive communication style promotes men’s feelings of inclusion in maternity services. However, the participants’ tendency to conflate their needs with those of their partner suggests the ongoing salience of traditional gender role beliefs, which view childbirth primarily as the domain of women.

Analysis of Customer Satisfaction of Saung Wulan Restaurant Using SERVQUAL Method, Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) and Gap Analysis

Restaurant growth in West Java is very rapid at around 12.52% per year. Saung Wulan restaurant is one of the restaurants that applies the traditional concept in Bekasi Regency. This study aims to determine the customer satisfaction of Saung Wulan restaurant. The research was conducted in April 2023 with a sample of Saung Wulan restaurant visitors during that period. The data were analyzed using the SERVQUAL concept, importance performance analysis (IPA), and gap analysis. During the research period, 144 respondents were collected, of which 53.41% were male, age range between 20 - 30 years, 44.32% and 31.82% of high school education. The results of the analysis show that the top priority services for improvement are: The suitability of the menu offered to the order, the speed of the staff in processing orders, and providing careful service. The services that have the highest gap between consumer expectations and the reality received are: Fast serving time, staff responsiveness to customer complaints, and staff speed in processing orders. The implication of the is that Saung Wulan Restaurant needs to prioritize improvements in suitability of the menu to orders, speed in processing orders, and careful service to increase customer satisfaction. Additionally, they need to address the high gap between expectations and reality in terms of serving time, response to customer complaints, and speed in processing orders to improve the overall customer experience. Rabies in rural northeast India: A case report emphasising the urgency of the One Health approach

Dog-mediated rabies is endemic in India. The country records the highest mortality due to dog-bite-related rabies despite the availability of interventions to prevent deaths. We present a case study of the death of a 59-year-old man in a suburban town of Northeast India after a dog bite from an owned pup. Through this case study, we investigate various omissions and commissions in communities and health professionals that make rabies rampant in India. The circumstances surrounding the death were investigated by interviewing the wife, relatives, neighbour, the hospital/nursing home where the bite case was reported, the district Rapid Response Team (RRT), and the Veterinary and Animal Health Department Officer and through the information recorded in the disease outbreak report. While the biting animal was not vaccinated and had no restriction over its movement imposed by the owners, the response of the hospital staff and public authorities was delayed and inadequate. A poignant reminder of the complexities surrounding dog-mediated rabies in India, this case study calls for a holistic protocol to address dog bites through ensuring the One Health approach encompassing education, provision of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and canine rabies vaccines for dogs, promotion of responsible dog ownership, and intersectoral collaboration. Moreover, strengthening communication channels through effective data exchange and encouraging synergy among healthcare, veterinary, and public health sectors is indispensable to maximize the impact of rabies prevention and control interventions.
