The imbalance of pulmonary Th17/Treg cells in BALB/c suckling mice infected with respiratory syncytial virus-mediated intestinal immune damage and gut microbiota changes.

RSV is the most common pathogen causing acute lower respiratory tract infections in infants and young children, but the complex interactions between the immune system and gut microbiota induced by RSV infection still requires further research. In this study, it was suggested that RSV infection in 7-day-old BALB/c suckling mice caused lung inflammation and disruption of Th17/Treg cells development, and altered the composition of gut microbiota through IL-22 induced overexpression of RegⅢγ, leading to intestinal immune injury and disruption of gut microbiota. This research reveals that IL-22 may be the link between the lung and gut. This study may provide a new insight into the intestinal symptoms caused by RSV and other respiratory viruses and the connection between the lung and gut axis, as well as new therapeutic ideas for the treatment of RSV-infected children.

RSV infection of humanized lung-only mice induces pathological changes resembling severe bronchiolitis and bronchopneumonia

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a substantial cause of severe lower respiratory tract infections in infants, young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals. There is a vital need for effective therapeutics to prevent and/or treat severe RSV infection in these high-risk individuals. The development and pre-clinical testing of candidate RSV therapeutics could be accelerated by their evaluation in animal models that recapitulate bronchiolitis and bronchopneumonia, both hallmark features of severe RSV infection in humans. Previously, we demonstrated that implanted human lung tissue in humanized lung-only mice (LoM) can be infected with RSV, resulting in sustained virus replication. Here we analyzed RSV-associated human lung pathology in the human lung implants of RSV-infected LoM. RSV-infected epithelial cells lining the airway and the alveolar regions of human lung implants result in hallmark histological features of RSV bronchiolitis and bronchopneumonia, including distal airway and alveolar lumens clogged with (1) sloughed and necrotic RSV-infected epithelial cells, (2) neutrophil-containing inflammatory infiltrates, and (3) MUC5B-dominated mucus secretions. We also show that treatment of LoM with a small molecule antiviral (ribavirin) or a neutralizing antibody (palivizumab) significantly suppressed and/or prevented RSV infection in vivo. Our data together show that RSV infection of human lung implants in vivo exhibits appropriate cellular tropism and results in the hallmark pathological characteristics of severe bronchiolitis and bronchopneumonia in humans. They also offer proof-of-principle of the utility of this model to evaluate novel approaches for the prevention/treatment of RSV infection.

Inhalation of 2, 4-di-tert-butylphenol-Loaded micelles suppresses respiratory syncytial virus infection in mice

Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of respiratory infections in infants, young children, and elderly people. However, there are no effective treatments or vaccines available in most countries. In this study, we explored the anti-RSV potential of 2, 4-Di-tert-butylphenol (2, 4-DTBP), a compound derived from Houttuynia cordata Thunb. To overcome the poor solubility of 2, 4-DTBP, we encapsulated it in polymeric micelles and delivered it by inhalation. We found that 2, 4-DTBP-loaded micelles inhibited RSV infection in vitro and improved survival, lung pathology, and viral clearance in RSV-infected mice. Our results suggested that 2, 4-DTBP-loaded micelle is a promising novel therapeutic agent for RSV infection.

Ginkgolic acid inhibits orthopneumo- and metapneumo- virus infectivity.

The human respiratory syncytial virus (hRSV) and the human metapneumovirus (hMPV) are important human respiratory pathogens from the Pneumoviridae family. Both are responsible for severe respiratory tract infections in infants, young children, elderly individuals, adults with chronic medical conditions, and immunocompromised patients. Despite their large impact on human health, vaccines for hRSV were only recently introduced, and only limited treatment options exist. Here we show that Ginkgolic acid (GA), a natural compound from the extract of Ginkgo biloba, with known antiviral properties for several viruses, efficiently inhibits these viruses' infectivity and spread in cultures in a dose-dependent manner. We demonstrate that the drug specifically affects the entry step during the early stages on the viruses' life cycle with no effect on post-entry and late stage events, including viral gene transcription, genome replication, assembly and particles release. We provide evidence that GA acts as an efficient antiviral for members of the Pneumoviridae family and has the potential to be used to treat acute infections.

Epidemiology of respiratory syncytial virus in a large pediatric hospital in Central Italy and development of a forecasting model to predict the seasonal peak.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is responsible for the majority of acute lower respiratory infections in infants and can affect also older age groups. Restrictions linked to the emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and their subsequent lifting caused a change in the dynamics of RSV circulation. It is therefore fundamental to monitor RSV seasonal trends and to be able to predict its seasonal peak to be prepared to the next RSV epidemics. We performed a retrospective descriptive study on laboratory-confirmed RSV infections from Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital in Rome from 1st January 2018 to 31st December 2022. Data on RSV-positive respiratory samples (n = 3,536) and RSV-confirmed hospitalizations (n = 1,895) on patients aged 0-18 years were analyzed. In addition to this, a SARIMA (Seasonal AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average) forecasting model was developed to predict the next peak of RSV. Findings show that, after the 2020 SARS-CoV-2 pandemic season, where RSV circulation was almost absent, RSV infections presented with an increased and anticipated peak compared to pre-pandemic seasons. While mostly targeting infants below 1 year of age, there was a proportional increase in RSV infections and hospitalizations in older age groups in the post-pandemic period. A forecasting model built using RSV weekly data from 2018 to 2022 predicted the RSV peaks of 2023, showing a reasonable level of accuracy (MAPE 33%). Additional analysis indicated that the peak of RSV cases is expected to be reached after 4-5 weeks from case doubling. Our study provides epidemiological evidence on the dynamics of RSV circulation before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Our findings highlight the potential of combining surveillance and forecasting to promote preparedness for the next RSV epidemics.

RSV-GenoScan: An automated pipeline for whole-genome human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) sequence analysis

BackgroundAdvances in high-throughput sequencing (HTS) technologies and reductions in sequencing costs have revolutionised the study of genomics and molecular biology by making whole-genome sequencing (WGS) accessible to many laboratories. However, the analysis of WGS data requires significant computational effort, which is the major drawback in implementing WGS as a routine laboratory technique. ObjectiveAutomated pipelines have been developed to overcome this issue, but they do not exist for all organisms. This is the case for human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which is a leading cause of lower respiratory tract infections in infants, the elderly, and immunocompromised adults. ResultsWe present RSV-GenoScan, a fast and easy-to-use pipeline for WGS analysis of RSV generated by HTS on Illumina or Nanopore platforms. RSV-GenoScan automates the WGS analysis steps directly from the raw sequence data. The pipeline filters the sequence data, maps the reads to the RSV reference genomes, generates a consensus sequence, identifies the RSV subgroup, and lists amino acid mutations, insertions and deletions in the F and G viral genes. This enables the rapid identification of mutations in these coding genes that are known to confer resistance to monoclonal antibodies. Bifidobacterium lactis Probio-M8 relieved acute respiratory tract infections in children possibly by modulating the gut microbes and metabolites

Respiratory tract infections constitute a significant global public health concern, accounting for around 20 % of child fatalities worldwide. Modulating the gut microbiota have the potential to serve as a promising strategy for both the prevention and treatment of respiratory infections. According to our prior research, the consumption of Bifidobacterium lactis Probio-M8 can notably enhance symptoms associated with respiratory tract infections in infants and young children. The current study is a follow-up work aimed at exploring the functional role of the gut microbes in the observed beneficial effects. We analyzed the fecal metagenomes of patients in both the probiotic group (n = 50) and the placebo group (n = 49). The results showed that Probio-M8 intervention may regulate the host inflammatory response by regulating the balance of intestinal microorganisms, bioactive metabolites and related pathways. Provides new insights into the study of probiotics in alleviating diseases related to the gut-lung axis.

The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection in the Neonatal Period.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most common viral respiratory infection in infants. This study aimed to establish the potential changes in the clinical course of RSV in the neonatal period with the onset of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic. During the observational study period, newborns diagnosed with community-acquired RSV infection and admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) were evaluated. RSV-infected neonates before the COVID-19 pandemic were classified as Group 1, those during the strict isolation period as Group 2, and RSV-infected newborns after the removal of restrictions were classified as Group 3. A total of 208 community-acquired RSV-infected neonates were analyzed. The median age at admission to the NICU was 26 days, and the mean gestational week was 37.2 ± 2.7. The ratio of hospitalized babies with RSV infection to all hospitalized newborns rose after the pandemic significantly (1.9, 1.6, 5.2%; p < 0.001). Following the pandemic, there was an increase in full-term, early-term, and late-preterm cases. Nevertheless, no change was observed in the number of preterm cases (p > 0.05). There was also a statistically significant increase in the need for intubation, noninvasive ventilation (NIV), supplemental oxygen, inhaled bronchodilator drugs, and length of hospital stay in Group 3 after the pandemic (p < 0.001). All these parameters related to more severe RSV infection when the precautions were removed, while there was a milder disease with restrictions during the pandemic in Group 2 (p < 0.001). However, none died due to RSV infection during the study because of timely supportive care. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the frequency and severity of RSV infection in newborns have increased, and it can result in a serious clinical picture even in full-term babies with no comorbidities. Early estimates of nirsevimab immunoprophylaxis effectiveness against hospital admission for respiratory syncytial virus lower respiratory tract infections in infants, Spain, October 2023 to January 2024.

The monoclonal antibody nirsevimab was at least 70% effective in preventing hospitalisations in infants with lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) positive for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in Spain (Oct 2023-Jan 2024), where a universal immunisation programme began late September (coverage range: 79-99%). High protection was confirmed by two methodological designs (screening and test-negative) in a multicentre active surveillance in nine hospitals in three regions. No protection against RSV-negative LRTI-hospitalisations was shown. These interim results could guide public-health decision-making.

Drug repurposing screen identifies lonafarnib as respiratory syncytial virus fusion protein inhibitor.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of acute lower respiratory tract infection in infants, older adults and the immunocompromised. Effective directly acting antivirals are not yet available for clinical use. To address this, we screen the ReFRAME drug-repurposing library consisting of 12,000 small molecules against RSV. We identify 21 primary candidates including RSV F and N protein inhibitors, five HSP90 and four IMPDH inhibitors. We select lonafarnib, a licensed farnesyltransferase inhibitor, and phase III candidate for hepatitis delta virus (HDV) therapy, for further follow-up. Dose-response analyses and plaque assays confirm the antiviral activity (IC50: 10-118 nM). Passaging of RSV with lonafarnib selects for phenotypic resistance and fixation of mutations in the RSV fusion protein (T335I and T400A). Lentiviral pseudotypes programmed with variant RSV fusion proteins confirm that lonafarnib inhibits RSV cell entry and that these mutations confer lonafarnib resistance. Surface plasmon resonance reveals RSV fusion protein binding of lonafarnib and co-crystallography identifies the lonafarnib binding site within RSV F. Oral administration of lonafarnib dose-dependently reduces RSV virus load in a murine infection model using female mice. Collectively, this work provides an overview of RSV drug repurposing candidates and establishes lonafarnib as a bona fide fusion protein inhibitor.

Prevention and Potential Treatment Strategies for Respiratory Syncytial Virus.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a significant viral pathogen that causes respiratory infections in infants, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. RSV-related illnesses impose a substantial economic burden worldwide annually. The molecular structure, function, and in vivo interaction mechanisms of RSV have received more comprehensive attention in recent times, and significant progress has been made in developing inhibitors targeting various stages of the RSV replication cycle. These include fusion inhibitors, RSV polymerase inhibitors, and nucleoprotein inhibitors, as well as FDA-approved RSV prophylactic drugs palivizumab and nirsevimab. The research community is hopeful that these developments might provide easier access to knowledge and might spark new ideas for research programs.

Fetal lung growth predicts the risk for early-life respiratory infections and childhood asthma.

Early-life respiratory infections and asthma are major health burdens during childhood. Markers predicting an increased risk for early-life respiratory diseases are sparse. Here, we identified the predictive value of ultrasound-monitored fetal lung growth for the risk of early-life respiratory infections and asthma. Fetal lung size was serially assessed at standardized time points by transabdominal ultrasound in pregnant women participating in a pregnancy cohort. Correlations between fetal lung growth and respiratory infections in infancy or early-onset asthma at five years were examined. Machine-learning models relying on extreme gradient boosting regressor or classifier algorithms were developed to predict respiratory infection or asthma risk based on fetal lung growth. For model development and validation, study participants were randomly divided into a training and a testing group, respectively, by the employed algorithm. Enhanced fetal lung growth throughout pregnancy predicted a lower early-life respiratory infection risk. Male sex was associated with a higher risk for respiratory infections in infancy. Fetal lung growth could also predict the risk of asthma at five years of age. We designed three machine-learning models to predict the risk and number of infections in infancy as well as the risk of early-onset asthma. The models' R2 values were 0.92, 0.90 and 0.93, respectively, underscoring a high accuracy and agreement between the actual and predicted values. Influential variables included known risk factors and novel predictors, such as ultrasound-monitored fetal lung growth. Sonographic monitoring of fetal lung growth allows to predict the risk for early-life respiratory infections and asthma.

Antibiotic Use in Korean Children Diagnosed With Acute Bronchiolitis: Analysis of the National Health Insurance Reimbursement Data.

Acute bronchiolitis, the most common lower respiratory tract infection in infants, is mostly caused by respiratory viruses. However, antibiotics are prescribed to about 25% of children with acute bronchiolitis. This inappropriate use of antibiotics for viral infections induces antibiotic resistance. This study aimed to determine the antibiotic prescription rate and the factors associated with antibiotic use in children with acute bronchiolitis in Korea, where antibiotic use and resistance rates are high. Healthcare data of children aged < 24 months who were diagnosed with acute bronchiolitis between 2016 and 2019 were acquired from the National Health Insurance system reimbursement claims data. Antibiotic prescription rates and associated factors were evaluated. A total of 3,638,424 visits were analyzed. The antibiotic prescription rate was 51.8%, which decreased over time (P < 0.001). In the multivariate analysis, toddlers (vs. infants), non-capital areas (vs. capital areas), primary clinics and non-tertiary hospitals (vs. tertiary hospitals), inpatients (vs. outpatients), and non-pediatricians (vs. pediatricians) showed a significant association with antibiotic prescription (P < 0.001). Fourteen cities and provinces in the non-capital area exhibited a wide range of antibiotic prescription rates ranging from 41.2% to 65.4%, and five (35.7%) of them showed lower antibiotic prescription rates than that of the capital area. In Korea, the high antibiotic prescription rates for acute bronchiolitis varied by patient age, region, medical facility type, clinical setting, and physician specialty. These factors should be considered when establishing strategies to promote appropriate antibiotic use.

The association of fibrinogen-albumin ratio and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio with the severity of respiratory syncytial virus infection in children.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of respiratory infections. It is responsible for more than half of lower respiratory tract infections in infants requiring hospitalization. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the fibrinogen-albumin ratio (FAR) and the severity of RSV infection and to compare its effectiveness with the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR). This was a retrospective cohort study with patients aged from 29 days to two years who had been admitted to the pediatric clinic of our hospital. Patients were divided into four groups: group 1 (mild disease), group 2 (moderate disease), group 3 (severe disease), and group 4 (control). FAR and NLR were measured in all groups. FAR was significantly higher in group 3 than in the other groups, in group 2 than in groups 1 and 4, and in group 1 than in group 4 (p<0.001 for all). NLR was significantly higher in group 4 than in the other groups and in group 3 than in groups 1 and 2 (p<0.001 for all). FAR totaled 0.078 ± 0.013 in patients with bronchiolitis; 0.099 ± 0.028, in patients with bronchopneumonia; and 0.126 ± 0.036, in patients with lobar pneumonia, all with statistically significant differences (p<0.001). NLR showed no significant statistical differences. This study found a statistically significant increase in FAR in the group receiving invasive support when compared to that receiving non-invasive support (0.189 ± 0.046 vs. 0.112 ± 0.030; p=0.003). Mechanical ventilation groups showed no differences for NLR. FAR was used to identify severe RSV-positive patients, with a sensitivity of 84.4%, a specificity of 82.2%, and a cutoff value of >0.068. This study determined a cutoff value of ≤1.49 for NLR, with a sensitivity of 62.2% and a specificity of 62.2% to find severe RSV-positive patients. Also, statistically significant associations were found between FAR and hospitalization and treatment length and time up to clinical improvement (p<0.001 for all). NLR and hospitalization and treatment length showed a weak association (p<0.001). In children with RSV infection, FAR could serve to determine disease severity and prognosis and average lengths of hospitalization, treatment, and clinical improvement. Additionally, FAR predicted disease severity more efficiently than NLR.

Epidemiology and clinical featuresof respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in hospitalized children during the COVID-19 pandemic in Gorgan,Iran.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)is a leading cause of acute respiratory infection in infants and young children. Given the altered circulation patterns of respiratory viruses during the coronavirus disease pandemic-2019 (COVID-19),the study aimed to evaluate epidemiology and clinical features of RSV infections in hospitalized children during the COVID-19pandemic in Gorgan, northeastern Iran. Molecular epidemiology studies on respiratory viral infections are necessary to monitor circulating viruses, disease severity, and clinical symptoms, in addition to early warning of new outbreaks. Overall, 411 respiratory swab samples from hospitalized children from October 2021 to March 2022 were collected at Taleghani Children's Hospital, Gorgan, Iran. The incidence of RSV, as well as the circulating subgroups and genotypes, were investigated and confirmed using PCR methods. Additionally, all samples tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)and influenza, and demographic and clinical data were analyzed using SPSS software. The share of RSV, SARS-CoV-2, and influenza among hospitalized children with acute lower respiratory infections (ALRI)were 27%, 16.5%, and 4.1%, respectively. The RSV subgroup A (genotype ON1) was dominant over subgroup B (genotype BA9),with more severe clinical symptoms. Compared with the prepandemic era there were high numbers of hospitalized SARS-CoV-2 positive children and low numbers of other respiratory viruses. Despite this, the prevalence of ALRI-relatedRSV-disease among hospitalized children in our specialized pediatric center was higher than COVID-19disease in the same cohort. Studying the epidemiology of respiratory viruses and determining the circulating strains can contribute to effective infection control and treatment strategies.

Characterization of a Panel of Monoclonal Antibodies Targeting the F-Protein of the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) for the Typing of Contemporary Circulating Strains.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most common cause of upper and lower respiratory tract infections in infants and young children. Virus-specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) can be used for diagnosis, prophylaxis, and research of RSV pathogenesis. A panel of 16 anti-RSV mAbs was obtained from mice immunized by RSV strain Long. Half of them had virus-neutralizing activity. According to Western blot all of these mAbs effectively bound native oligomeric (homodimeric and homotrimeric) forms of the RSV fusion (F) protein. Only five of the mAbs interacted with the monomeric form, and only one of these possessed neutralizing activity. None of these mAbs, nor the commercial humanized neutralizing mAb palivizumab, reacted with the denaturated F protein. Thus, interaction of all these mAbs with F protein had clear conformational dependence. Competitive ELISA and neutralization assays allowed the identification of nine antigenic target sites for the interaction of mAb with the F protein. Five partially overlapping sites may represent a complex spatial structure of one antigenic determinant, including one neutralizing and four non-neutralizing epitopes. Four sites (three neutralizing and one non-neutralizing) were found to be distinct. As a result of virus cultivation RSV-A, strain Long, in the presence of a large amount of one of the neutralizing mAbs, an escape mutant with a substitution, N240S, in the F protein, was obtained. Thus, it was shown for the first time that position 240 is critical for the protective effect of an anti-RSV antibody. To assess the ability of these mAbs to interact with modern RSV strains circulating in St. Petersburg (Russia) between 2014 and 2022, 73 RSV-A and 22 RSV-B isolates were analyzed. Six mAbs were directed to conserved epitopes of the F protein as they interacted most efficiently with both RSV subtypes in a fixed cell-ELISA and could be used for diagnostic assays detecting RSV.

Clinical analysis of 114 cases of bronchiolitis in infants.

Bronchiolitis is a common lower respiratory tract infection in infants and young children. Severe cases may be accompanied by obvious dyspnea and oxygen saturation decline. To summarize the clinical features, standard diagnosis, and treatment of bronchiolitis. This is a retrospective analysis of 114 pediatric patients (74 males, 40 females) who were first diagnosed as having bronchioles at the Department of Pediatrics of Tongling Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2019 to December 2019. The clinical features, imaging features, treatment, and other clinical data were recorded and analyzed. The age of onset of the disease was mainly from 1 mo to 6 mo (75.4%), and the time to hospital visit was mostly from the 2nd day to the 4th day of the course of the disease (75.4%). Lung imaging examination showed increase in lung texture, fuzzy (93.8%). The main treatment was atomization therapy: Budesonide combined with terbutaline (45.6%) and budesonide combined with salbutamol (38.5%). The average hospitalization time was 7.1 ± 2.4 d, and the overall cure rate was 94.7%. In patients without bacterial infection, the use of antibiotics significantly prolonged the length of hospital stay (7.8 ± 2.5 d vs 5.7 ± 1.8 d) and improved the cure rate (98.3% vs 87.9%, P < 0.05). Infants with bronchiolitis are mainly male and tend to have a good prognosis. However, the unneeded use of antibiotics may prolong the length of hospital stay significantly, which imposes the burden both on the patients and hospital system.

Purine degradation pathway metabolites at birth and the risk of lower respiratory tract infections in infancy.

Lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) are the leading cause of infant morbidity and mortality worldwide, and altered metabolite production is recognised as a critical factor in LRTI pathogenesis. This study aimed to identify prenatal metabolic changes associated with LRTI risk in infancy, using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry unbiased metabolomics analysis on cord blood from 810 full-term newborns. We identified 22 compounds linked to LRTIs in infancy, enriched for purine degradation pathway (PDP) metabolites. High cord blood PDP metabolites, including xanthine, hypoxanthine, xanthosine and inosine, were linked to reduced LRTI risk during infancy. Notably, a low xanthine to uric acid ratio at birth predicted a four-fold increased LRTI risk. This study is the first to reveal that high cord blood PDP metabolites identify newborns at lower LRTI risk, stratifying disease risk at birth. Moreover, our results prompt further study on PDP enzymes as pharmacological targets to decrease LRTI morbidity and mortality for at-risk newborns.

Nirsevimab Immunization to Prevent Respiratory Syncytial Virus–Associated Lower Respiratory Tract Infections in Infants and Children up to 24 Months of Age

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infects nearly all infants in their first year of life and is the leading cause of hospitalization for infants younger than 1 year of age in the United States. Historically, the only option for RSV prevention was palivizumab. However, not all infants are eligible for palivizumab, it requires multiple doses per RSV season, and it is costly. In July 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved nirsevimab for the prevention of RSV-associated lower respiratory tract infections for all infants. Nirsevimab inhibits RSV from fusing to cellular membranes and thereby neutralizes the virus in the body. Nirsevimab is expected to significantly reduce the health and economic burdens of RSV. This article provides an overview of nirsevimab, potential adverse effects, and implications for nursing practice.

Vaccination for Respiratory Syncytial Virus: A Narrative Review and Primer for Clinicians.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) poses a significant burden on public health, causing lower respiratory tract infections in infants, young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals. Recent development and licensure of effective RSV vaccines provide a promising approach to lessening the associated morbidity and mortality of severe infections. This narrative review aims to empower clinicians with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions regarding RSV vaccination, focusing on the prevention and control of RSV infections, especially among vulnerable populations. The paper explores the available RSV vaccines and existing evidence regarding their efficacy and safety in diverse populations. Synthesizing this information for clinicians can help the latter understand the benefits and considerations associated with RSV vaccination, contributing to improved patient care and public health outcomes.
