Influencing Features and Factors of Reference Management Software among University Research Scholars in Tamil Nadu, India

This study examined the awareness and influencing features and factors of reference management software in university research scholars in Tamil Nadu, in India Descriptive survey method was adopted for the study. The Web-based questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. The total population of the study is 200 people. Among total responses, 177 was returned, which represents the response rate for the study is 88.50%. The findings of the study revealed that Mendeley is the most used reference management software by the research scholars. It was recommended that research scholars should be trained on how to make use of the most used reference management software.

Use of Reference Management Software among Science Research Scholars in University of Kerala

The purpose of this study is to make a comprehensive study of the use of Reference Management Software among the science research scholars of University of Kerala. Main objective of the study was to identify the use of different types of Reference Management Software used by research scholars. Study also aims to find out the features preferred by science researchers from different Reference Management Software. Proportionate stratified sample of 166 (63%) out of 266 full time Science research scholars of University of Kerala was selected and questionnaires were distributed among them .Study is conducted through structured questionnaire.

Use of Library Resources and Services by Karnatak University Research Scholars: A case Study

Major aim of any university library is to support teaching, learning and research activities of its parent institutions, university library must therefore make sure that their resources are fine use of by its users. The study has been conducted to know the available information sources in the Karnataka university library and its usage pattern among the research scholars in different faculties in several Departments of the University. A study on the personal information management practices among the Research Scholars of University of Kerala

This paper aims to understand how the research scholars of faculty of applied sciences in the University of Kerala manage personal information through internet services. Personal Information Management(PIM) refers to a set of activities a person perform in order to acquire or create, store, organize, maintain, retrieve, use and distribute personal information for different purposes. Questionnaire method was employed for data collection and out of the 59 respondents, 69.6% females and 30.4% male scholars are using their lap tops for managing personal information. Majority of the respondents prefer e-mail as the most used internet service for personal information management with a mean value 2.41. Majority of the respondents agree that they know more about managing their personal information and apply it on research work. The study also revealed that major difficulties faced by research scholars are inadequate awareness of managing information via Internet. Most of the time research scholars store only that personal information that they want to share with others. Majority always afraid of putting their sensitive personal information at internet services because of privacy concern.

A Study on Use of Electronic Resources by the Research Scholars of North Eastern Hill University

Electronic Information Resources (e-resources) plays an important role in teaching and learning process at university level and provide superior assistance to its users. The main objective of this study was to identify the impact of usage of e-resources on academic performance of the university research scholars. The study was limited to Life Sciences and Physical Science School of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). The study has employed Chi-square and correlation test to find the association between the two schools, between the departments and between the genders. The study has found that majority of the scholars is aware of e-resources and they use the resources to the maximum for research and assignment purpose. This study would absolutely benefit the research scholars through exploring impact of usage of e-resources on academic performance.

Use of social networking sites by research scholars of the University of Delhi: A study

The main purpose of the paper is to explore how research scholars of University of Delhi integrated Social Networking Sites (SNSs) into their daily communication for research work. A structured questionnaire was designed and personally distributed 160 respondents. Most used SNSs for “lurking” while few used such sites for promoting one’s research. Additionally, most respondents preferred the SNS Facebook and ResearchGate for academic purposes. Collaborative and peer-to-peer learning were common benefits from SNSs while some expressed concern regarding cyber-bullying and privacy. Finally, a majority of respondents said using SNSs may be a waste of time.

Assessment of user adequacy and services of library collections among research scholars of university of Mysore

Present study reports empirical findings on the user adequacy and services of library collections among research scholars of university of Mysore. A total of 68 research scholars pursuing their Ph.D degree in various social and biological sciences were randomly selected of which 57 were male research scholars and 11 were female research scholars. A pre determined structured questionnaire on user adequacy and services of library collection was administered to the selected respondents. The data analysis was done using chi-square. Results revealed that in the case of library collections majority opined that only news papers and magazines are adequate. Reference books, text books, journals, thesis and dissertations were found to be moderately adequate as perceived by research scholars. Maps, atlases and charts, and electronic resources were found to be inadequate by the research scholars. In the case of library services, reference services, referral services, newspaper clippings, reprographic services and internet services were found to be good. Selective dissemination of information, current awareness service, indexing and abstracting services were found to be poor.
