The Perception of User for Road Damage: A Case Majalengka-West Java

The development of road infrastructure in various countries is growing rapidly in line with the increasing need for more efficient transportation and better road access to various regions. Suppose in a country the road infrastructure is damaged. In that case, it will result in limited access to more efficient transportation, hinder the mobility of road and goods users, and potentially slow down economic growth. This study aims to determine the level of satisfaction of road users with the condition of the pavement on Jl. Pejuang-Sindangkasih, and determine the level of existing damage. This research is located on Jl. Pejuang-Sindangkasih, which is located in Majalengka District, Majalengka Regency, West Java. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire, which is intended to collect data on the level of damage felt, the impact of damage on comfort and safety, and road users' expectations for road repairs. Overall, this data provides a clear picture of the profile of road users on Jl. Pejuang-Sindangkasih and how they see the condition of the road. This information can be an important basis for road repair and maintenance to improve comfort and safety for all road users. Some respondents also emphasized the importance of immediate repairs to road damage to reduce the risk of accidents and vehicle damage. In addition, respondents from younger age groups tend to be more critical of road conditions and show a high awareness of the importance of good road infrastructure. Road damage is very dangerous for road users, especially for motorcycle users, and urgent repairs are needed. Overall, this information provides important information about the planning and implementation of road repairs, with a special emphasis on the most important elements to improve the safety and comfort of road users.

Effect of nano-Ti-Li-Al hydrotalcite-like on the hydration and hardening properties of sulfoaluminate cement-based materials

The use of sulfoaluminate cement-based materials (SCBMs) in grout reinforcement projects is common, and they also perform well in road repair and other facilities. To obtain high workability and permeability, a large water-to-cement ratio is generally used, which reduces the early mechanical properties of SCBMs. The early mechanical properties of cement-based materials can be improved by adding nanomaterials. The cement hydration product monosulfate (AFm) belongs to the hydrotalcite-like family, which is also called layered double hydroxide (LDHs). At present, there is no literature on the influence of nano-Ti-Li-Al layered double hydroxide materials (TiLiAl-LDHs) on SCBMs. In this study, two types of nano -TiLiAl-LDHs with different Ti/Li/Al molar ratios (Ti1Li3Al4-LDHs and Ti2Li3Al4-LDHs) were synthesized. Nano-Ti1Li3Al4-LDHs promoted the hydration of the slurry and improved the early mechanical properties of SCBMs to a greater extent than nano-Ti2Li3Al4-LDHs. However, the cause of this phenomenon remains unclear. Nano-TiLiAl-LDHs act as nucleation sites for ettringite (AFt) and AFm, both of which are cement hydration products. Among them, Ti1Li3Al4-LDHs preferentially provided nucleation sites for AFt, whereas Ti2Li3Al4-LDHs preferentially provided nucleation sites for AFm. Ti1Li3Al4-LDHs and Ti2Li3Al4-LDHs can release titanium, lithium, and carbonate ions in the SCBMs paste, and Ti1Li3Al4-LDHs release more lithium ions (up to 50 mg/L) while Ti2Li3Al4-LDHs release more titanium ions (up to 100 mg/L). Li+ can consume AlO2− and OH− in the slurry and form amorphous lithium aluminum compounds. Although Li+ inhibits the formation of AFt products, it promotes the hydration of anhydrous calcium sulfoaluminate (ye’elimite). Ti4+ reacts with OH− to form a complex that inhibits the formation of AFt, thus reducing the hydration of SCBMs. CO32− promotes the formation of calcium carbonate and indirectly promotes the dissolution of ye’elimite and gypsum. The nucleation effect and release of titanium, lithium, and carbonate ions acted synergistically to influence the hydration and hardening processes of SCBMs. Compared with Ti2Li3Al4-LDHs, Ti1Li3Al4-LDHs has a greater ability to enhance the hydration and mechanical properties of the slurry owing to its strong nucleation and release of higher concentrations of lithium ions and lower concentrations of titanium ions.

ENGINEERING-GEODESIC EQUIPMENT OF THE TERRITORY USED BY USING GEOINFORMATION SYSTEMS

The purpose of the scientific article is the implementation of an important part of the agricultural spatial data infrastructure, planning of the domestic economy using geographic information systems (GIS). Taking this direction into account, the work examines the following main elements of designing the domestic economy: location of settlements and economic centers; design of internal roads; placement of external engineering networks; use of types of land reclamation for agricultural purposes; allocation of land for the construction of roads of various categories of local importance; placement of agricultural machinery in land use; conduct a technical and economic analysis of the effective use of road junctions and reclamation works as an engineering structure, as well as systematize the engineering and geodetic process necessary to implement these studies based on GIS technologies. With the help of geographic information systems technologies, it will be necessary to determine the following directions of engineering and geodetic equipment of the territory: Information about road transport and roads, Roads in plan, longitudinal and horizontal profiles, Driving through bodies of water and bodies of water on the road, Road surfaces, Road surveys and design of agricultural roads, The basic principle of organizing the construction, maintenance and repair of agricultural roads.

The planning of the distribution of relief items and road network repair through multiple heterogeneous crews and prioritizing damaged roads under a flexible and uncertain environment

This study introduces an integrated and flexible program to coordinate two critical operations in the response phase of disaster management, namely the distribution of relief items and the repair of damaged roads under different types of road damage. In this regard, considerations such as the classification of critical areas according to the severity of the incident, location-allocation, scheduling, and routing of heterogeneous multiple crews, prioritization of road repair, sequence of operations, and the simultaneity of various activities are considered. Therefore, a new multi-period and multi-objective mathematical model is presented, where the first objective minimizes the total operation cost, the second objective minimizes the total operation time, and the third objective maximizes the prioritization of repairing damaged roads. Also, owing to the uncertain essence of a disaster, containing the types of demand and service time in each operation, a robust optimization approach is used to tackle this concern. The proposed model is ultimately checked for validation in a real case study. The acquired computational outcomes and presented managerial insights show the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed model.

Novel approach for forest road maintenance using smartphone sensor data and deep learning methods

ABSTRACT High costs primarily pose challenges to forest management in planning and executing the repair of forest roads. With budget limitations and inadequate oversight, it has become critically essential to monitor the state of these roads. Monitoring the condition of forest roads has become imperative, driven by budget constraints and a lack of effective supervision. While smartphones have proven effective in detecting road defects on public roads, their application on forest roads is hindered by the absence of suitable indices and software infrastructure. Addressing this gap, this research focuses on the development of the Forest Road Pavement Condition Index (FRPCI) to facilitate smartphone-based monitoring. We collected and compared data from 4 kilometers of forest roads, employing two traditional harvesting methods alongside smartphone sensor data. Utilizing deep learning methods, including Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM), and CNN-LSTM, we processed the collected data. Signal processing using GPS data, coupled with wavelet transformation, demonstrated promising results with an accuracy and recall exceeding 80%. The proposed system functions as a distributed information system, transitioning data from organizational mode to field mode. It measures damage, assesses forest road conditions, and leverages image processing and GPS technologies. This monitoring system technology offers capabilities for preparing, storing, updating, maintaining, and analyzing diverse information. Importantly, adopting this method can significantly reduce operating costs, making forest road monitoring for maintenance purposes more feasible.

Что удалось сделать в сельском Татарстане за десять лет реализации системы самообложения населения

The budget deficit in municipalities of the Republic of Tatarstan forces local authorities to search for additional sources of funding to solve the problems of rural settlements. One of the ways was the participation of rural municipalities in the development of a system of self-taxation for citizens. It has been implemented in Tatarstan since 2013. The article sets the task of assessing the effects of the self-taxation system in rural settlements of the republic, accumulated over 10 years of its operation. By analyzing the legislative framework of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, the author reveals the basic concepts and provisions used in the system of self-taxation of citizens. Using interviews he conducted in municipalities of the Republic of Tatarstan with heads, deputies, and activists of rural settlements, the experience of using and features of public participation in the self-taxation system over the past ten years was examined. It was revealed that the results of the implementation of the self-taxation system are expressed in an increased level of trust in it on the part of villagers, in almost one hundred percent collection of contributions, in the involvement of village residents in the formation of municipal budget plans, in increasing the civic responsibility of representatives of rural communities of Tatarstan. The “external” effect of the self-taxation system is expressed in the number of solved problems of local importance: repair and construction of rural roads, water supply, street lighting, improvement of cemeteries, monuments and obelisks, sites for garbage containers, sidewalks, embankments, springs, parks and public gardens. This list of work of conducted works, which is far from complete, using the villagers’ self-taxation system and through co-financing from the government bodies of Tatarstan, has significantly increased the level and quality of rural life in the republic.

Features of the structure and properties of stone mastic asphalt

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate the features and properties of stone mastic asphalt in the context of its potential for practical application in road repair works, aiming to create a high‐quality road surface and replace outdated structural materials with newer alternatives. The leading approach combines a systematic analysis of the issues submitted for consideration and an experimental study of the properties of stone mastic asphalt, which are important in the context of the practical use of this building material to ensure high quality parameters of the roadway and the timeliness of its repair, if necessary. Within the framework of this study, results were obtained that indicate a significant variety of approaches to determining the characteristics and properties of the material under consideration, clearly demonstrating current solutions to the problem of improving the performance of stone mastic asphalt by introducing special admixtures into its composition. The findings and conclusions of this research are valuable for road service employees and developers of modern construction materials, aiding in high‐quality road surface repair and creating durable asphalt for safe road use in the future.

Development of an Information System for Wood Harvesting Planning

The article presents the results of developing a software system for production planning in the field of wood harvesting. The objects of research are the planning of harvesting operations, forest transport, construction, repair and maintenance of forest roads, as well as solving various related problems. The purpose of the work is to develop a native specialized software system for production planning in the field of wood harvesting, which is integrated with existing accounting and monitoring systems and is based on solving complex optimization problems of large dimensions using original specially developed methods and algorithms that take into account all the features of wood harvesting production in the Russian Federation. As a result of this work, an approach to creating such а system was developed, which includes a set of requirements for the software product, as well as formulations of the main tasks to be solved, listing the necessary initial data and information obtained as an output. The proposed approach was implemented by Russian IT-company Opti-Soft in the form of software product Opti-Wood — a multipurpose Decision Support System (DSS) designed for the use at forestry enterprises as a tool for optimizing production planning, management and control. The Opti-Wood system was developed in close contact with a large wood harvesting enterprise in the Republic of Karelia. The system is based on original algorithms for solving several optimization problems of increased complexity. Using the system allows one to increase the efficiency of logging processes by reducing costs in supply chains, the volume of warehouse stocks, the number of required vehicles; by mutual agreement of plans for harvesting operations, forest transport, road construction, etc., as well as by significantly reducing the time for taking management decisions. Increased profitability occurs due to the identification of additional options for the sale of products.

Preparation and properties of hexafluorosilicic acid series accelerators

Shotcrete technology has been widely used in tunnel engineering, road repair, underground engineering, and other scenarios due to its advantages of simple construction and fast progress. Liquid alkali-free accelerator is a necessary additive used in sprayed concrete, which can quickly set the concrete in a short period of time. Therefore, the development of alkali-free liquid accelerator is of great significance. The purpose of this research is to obtain low-cost and high-performance accelerator products and explore the influence of aluminum sulfate, hexafluorosilicic acid, and other raw materials on performance and stability. The main research results are as follows: (1) The accelerator product with low cost and high performance has been prepared. Its aluminum sulfate content is about 43%, hexafluorosilicic acid content is about 17%, sodium aluminate content is about 21%, the initial setting time is 1′ 15″, the final setting time is 2′ 05″, and the 1-day compressive strength is 9.5 MPa. (2) F ion plays a solubilizing role in the solution, and the appropriate ratio of aluminum sulfate and fluorine ion can greatly enhance the stability of accelerator solution. (3) Under the same cost condition, the influence of aluminum sulfate on the condensation performance is far greater than that of hexafluorosilicic acid and sodium metaaluminate. Subsequent research and development should focus on how to effectively increase the solubility of aluminum sulfate.

This study aims to find out how the village head is accountable for road construction in Taja Mulya Village, Betung District, Banyuasin Regency. In this study, researchers used qualitative methods because the data generated in this study were in the form of written and spoken words so that they were able to describe the situation in Taja Mulya Village. The qualitative method approach used by researchers in this study is a case study, data collection techniques consist of three methods, namely observation, interviews, documentation. And data analysis techniques by processing, reading all the data, starting coding all the data, applying the coding process, then showing how the descriptions and themes are expressed in the form of narrative and data analysis. This study uses the theory of accountability from Syahrudin Rasul, there are 5 (five) indicators, namely 1. Honesty and Law 2. Managerial 3. Program 4. Policy 5. Finance. the results of the research it was found that the accountability of the village head in road construction in Taja Mulya Village was not effective enough because there were still many damaged roads and also many roads that had not been cast or were still in dirt. The problems in the road construction process are constrained funds for the construction and repair of village roads so that road construction carried out in villages uses more funds from third parties such as the aspirations of the DPRD. The suggestion in this research is that the village government is more concerned with and pays more attention to the condition of village road construction and prioritizes the construction of damaged roads in order to facilitate access to schools and to the gardens where the community works. Introduction. The conditions of economic development and social changes in Ukraine require accelerated development of road transport infrastructure, which includes the road industry, motor roads and facilities located on them. During the construction, operation and repair of motor roads, operating vehicles emit pollutants from fuel combustion products into the air, and generate noise and vibration. Pollution of soils, groundwater, and then water bodies can occur due to the deposition of pollutants and dust emitted from running car engines on the road surface, as well as dust from worn tires, road markings, car parts, the road surface itself, used industrial oil, oil leaks, and de-icing materials (in winter). Problem statement. Today, the country is faced with the task of actively working to modernize, expand and improve the entire road network. However, economic development and the scale of natural resource use should not be a hazard to ecological balance. Objective. Taking into account environmental aspects in the design and operation of the motor road and transport infrastructure facilities intended for its maintenance can lead to an increase in the service life of these structures, a decrease in energy and material consumption for their restoration. Materials and methods. The life cycle assessment method allows for a comprehensive approach that recognizes strategies to reduce environmental impacts throughout all stages of transport infrastructure facilities life cycle, from design to end of life (if there is no possibility of their further restoration).

It is hoped that the repair of the damaged road at Lemi Mas Harbor, West Lombok, Gili Mas will be able to facilitate the transportation of goods and services at Gili Mas Harbor, West Lombok. This road repair work is expected to be completed according to the implementation time stated in the contract. The research location is West Lombok Regency. In this research, a survey was conducted using a questionnaire on the workforce on the project. The delay factors considered in data collection were obtained based on literature studies. Factor analysis and ranking are carried out to see the factors that have the most significant value. The results of the analysis show that the 3 factors with the highest ratings causing delays in the repair project for the damaged Lembar-Pelabuhan Gili Mas Road, West Lombok, are unfinished contract changes (Addendums); poor implementation schedule; and slow design review drawings. Co-optimize recovery modeling for transportation and power network with multi-type mobile resources dispatching

The dispatching of repair resources and mobile energy storage systems (MESSs) is essential for rapid recovery of distribution systems (DS) after extreme events. However, while causing high losses to power system, extreme events also significantly affect normal operation of transportation network (TN). Therefore, the coordinate recovery model of transportation and power network (TPN) is introduced. The dispatching model of road repair crews (RRCs) and shortest road update model will involve plenty of variables, which are extremely time-consuming. To address this issue, firstly the coupling nexus between TPN and multi-type mobile resources (MMRs) is analyzed. Then, the concept of road island and radial constraints of road repair are introduced to simplify the update of transportation topology and shortest path searching. Finally, we propose a coordinate recovery model of TPN considering the dispatching of MMRs. The case analysis demonstrates that comprehensive recovery strategy of TPN are generated to improve power recovery, especially by power transfer of MESSs, topologized by the behavior of RRCs for TN, and topologized by the behavior of line repair crews (LRCs) for DS. The simplification method reduces model scale and computational complexity, significantly improves the solution efficiency.

Analysis of the State of Highways of Regional Importance in the Russian Federation

The purpose of the article is to analyze the regional road network of the Russian Federation, to identify the main factors affecting its condition depending on the federal district. Recently, investments have improved the situation in the field of repair and construction of regional roads, but the condition of regional roads remains unsatisfactory — about half of all regional roads do not meet regulatory requirements. Based on the analysis of the regional road network, it is necessary to make a decision on the investment of a particular road facility. The article examines the relationship between factors such as the percentage of regional highways that do not meet regulatory requirements and the individual rating of the standard of living. The question is also raised about identifying the most problematic places in the regional road network based on mathematical statistics methods, building dependencies of the share of bad regional roads on the length of federal roads, on the road climate zone, on the gross regional product per capita, on population, on the density of the road network and other factors. The main research methods are correlation and regression analysis. As a result of the study, a statistical analysis of the quality of the highway network of regional significance in the federal districts of the Russian Federation for 2007–2022 was carried out, the main patterns and dependencies of the percentage of roads that do not meet regulatory requirements on the density of the road network, gross regional product, and road climate zone were revealed. Conclusions are obtained that at the moment the state of regional highways and the gross regional product are poorly correlated values. On the contrary, the condition of regional roads strongly correlates with the index of quality of life in the region and the length of federal roads. In the first case, there is a strong positive correlation, in the second — a strong negative one.

Optimization of Alkali Activator on the Strength Properties of Fly Ash Based Geopolymer Repair Materials

Flexible and rigid road pavement deteriorates over time and needs high-performance patching repair materials. Cold mix asphalt patching is an easy and inexpensive repair material to repair potholes and other damaged roads. However, the repaired road pavement fails because it doesn’t have adequate compressive and bonding strength to the substrate. Thus, this research uses high-performance geopolymer repair materials to patch against road pavement potholes substrate. Geopolymer repair materials could improve the bonding strength, making them suitable for road repair purposes. For making geopolymer repair materials, the main materials used were high calcium aluminosilicate source materials such as fly ash, sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate, and water. This study tested the compressive and bonding strength of geopolymer repair materials after 1, 7, 14, and 28 days. This study found that the compressive strength of 90 g of alkali activator was the highest, at 37.0 MPa. The bonding strength improved gradually from day 1 to day 14, and then considerably on day 28. The compressive strength and bonding strength both increase in direct proportion to the amount of alkali activator present. Alkali activator is optimal at 90 grams for compressive strength and bonding strength of geopolymer repair materials.

Efektivitas Pengelolaan Dana Desa dalam Meningkatkan Kesejahteraan Masyarakat Desa Margamukti Pengalengan Menurut Persepektif Islam

Margamukti Village is one of the villages in Pangalengan District, Bandung Regency. Each village is ensured to get a grant from the Government called Dana Desa. The development of Margamukti village funds has been specific such as road repair, posyandu construction and community empowerment.The purpose of this study is to find out how the picture of the effectiveness of village fund management to improve community welfare in addition, this study also aims to see how the effectiveness of village fund management in improving community welfare in Islamic perspective. The approach in this study is qualitative with descriptive analysis methods using data collection techniques through documentation, observation and interviews.The results showed that the effectiveness of village fund management in improving the welfare of the people of Margamukti Village, Pangalengan District, Bandung Regency was generally quite effective, with a budget of Rp. 574,644,260. Preciceptively Islamically, Margamukti Village has implemented several processes in managing its village funds, by applying the five principles of maqasaid sharia.

A preliminary study on preparation and properties of magnesia based clinker with zeolite and magnesite

Dead burnt magnesia is the main raw material of magnesium phosphate cement, which is widely used in road repair works. However, due to the high energy consumption and high cost in the production and preparation process of dead burnt magnesia, its application is limited to a certain extent. In this work, a magnesia based clinker containing a considerable number of magnesium oxide and magnesium silicates phase was prepared by co-firing of zeolite powder and magnesite at low temperature (1200–1300 ℃). The results show that high temperature than 1200℃ results in less free MgO. Intermediate phases 2CaO·MgO·2SiO2 formed in clinker at 1250℃ and 1300℃. The workability of the pastes made from calcined cement clinker was proved to be better than that of traditional magnesium potassium phosphate cement (MKPC). The compressive strength can reach 30 MPa after curing for 7 days. Compared with the traditional MKPC, the hydration heat of the new magnesia based cement is greatly reduced. Lower calcination temperature on the cement clinker resulted in fewer cracks and pores on the surface of magnesia based cement and denser structure of the hydration products.

Integration of a CNN-based model and ensemble learning for detecting post-earthquake road cracks with deep features

A safe and healthy infrastructure is essential for humanity. Maintenance and repair of roads, which are of great importance, especially in transportation, is essential. Roads can sometimes be damaged due to natural disasters or human factors. In this study, roads damaged as a result of the natural disaster and the 6 February 2023 Gaziantep-Kahramanmaras earthquakes, which had devastating/fatal consequences, were studied. In recent years, the use of machine learning methods in the automatic detection process of road cracks has become widespread. Here, deep learning architectures generally based on multilayer convolutional neural networks have become a popular solution, mainly thanks to their high discrimination power in visual data. In this study, it was aimed to automatically detect cracks on the roads in Gaziantep (Nurdagi) and Adiyaman provinces after the earthquake. The data set used in the experimental process consists of two categories: uncracked and cracked, and was collected by the researchers. ResNet152 deep learning architecture, traditional machine learning algorithms, and an ensemble learning (EL) model were used to classify cracks. Among the machine learning algorithms used in the experiments are support vector machine (SVM), K-nearest neighbors, Adaptive Boosting, and Naive Bayes. In the experimental process, ResNet152 architecture was used for feature extraction, and classification was carried out with machine learning algorithms. In addition, the EL method has been used to improve the success of machine learning algorithms. According to experimental results, the SVM algorithm and EL method gave the most successful results with 98.68% accuracy values. The proposed method can benefit experts in the automatic classification of road cracks. The study can contribute to activating rapid coordination and transportation networks in natural disasters that cause fatal and destructive causes, such as earthquakes.
