Manufacturing of PEEK orthodontic baseplate and 3D-printed alloy components from an intraoral scan.

This paper demonstrates a digital manufacturing technique of a removable orthodontic appliance from an intraoral scan. An intraoral scan was made for the maxillary and mandibular arches. 3Shape Orthodontics Appliance Designer produced the virtual Hawley retainer, consisting of alloy components (Adam Clasps and Fitted Labial bow) and a base plate. The base plate design was modified to adapt to inserting the alloy components, which were combined using cold-cured acrylic. The finished Hawley retainer was assessed intraorally. The described technique emphasizes the design specifications of digitally designed and manufactured removable orthodontic appliances. A combination of additive and subtractive techniques was successfully employed to manufacture the alloy components and base plate. This novel method provides an alternative approach to manufacturing removable appliances with computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) technologies. The described process offers a precursor to digital manufacturing of other developed designs of dental appliances.

Relapse Correction with Removable Orthodontic

Relapse is when the teeth return to the position before orthodontic treatment. The small gaps between teeth often occur due to relapse conditions. A removable appliance is an orthodontic appliance that the patient can remove and insert themselves. This aims to report a relapse case treated using removable orthodontics. The case, A 26-year-old female patient complained of upper front teeth being gapped and lower front teeth being crowded. Previous dental history showed that the teeth had been treated with a fixed orthodontic appliance one year ago with premolar extraction. The patient did not use a retainer. The removable orthodontic appliance used was an active plate that retracted the maxillary anterior teeth using a labial bow. Orthodontic relapse can occur due to incomplete remodelling. Retraction using a labial bow can close the anterior teeth palatally. Active plates can be used as an alternative treatment in mild cases of relapse after fixed orthodontic treatment

Artifacts Caused by Orthodontic Appliances on Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Awareness and Knowledge Level of Maxillofacial Radiologists and Orthodontists

Objective: Artifacts caused by orthodontic appliances on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can affect the image quality and make diagnosis difficult. The debate is ongoing on whether orthodontic appliances should be removed to eliminate these problems. This study aimed to evaluate the awareness and knowledge level of dentists working in maxillofacial radiology and orthodontics about this subject through a questionnaire.
 Methods: The questionnaire consisted of 20 items and four parts: A) Personal information, B) Awareness level about the artifacts and complications caused by orthodontic appliances on MRI, C) Knowledge level about the factors related to artifacts and complications caused by orthodontic appliances on MRI, and D) Preventive approaches. The questionnaire was prepared on Google Forms and sent to potential participants via e-mail. The Chi-square (χ2) test was used for the statistical analysis of the variables. 
 Results: Most participants were aware of the artifacts caused by orthodontic appliances on MRI (90.8%) (93.5% of maxillofacial radiologists and 88.5% of orthodontists) and thought that material type influenced the artifact formation (98.1%) (100% of maxillofacial radiologists and 96.3% of orthodontists). The percentage of participants with 1-5 years of experience who were aware of artifacts was less than those with more experience (p = .033). The percentage of orthodontists who referred patients for orthodontic appliance removal was higher than maxillofacial radiologists who requested the orthodontic appliance removal (93.5%>15%).
 Conclusion: Simultaneously increasing demands for both orthodontic treatment and MRI in the society cause concerns about the MRI image quality due to artifacts on images of the head and neck region. The main output of this study is that dentists working in orthodontics and maxillofacial radiology have a high awareness and knowledge about the artifacts and complications caused by orthodontic appliances on MRI.

Treatment of Tooth Relapse Using Removable Orthodontics Appliances

At present, fixed orthodontic appliances treatment is extensively utilized with excellent outcome. Nevertheless, complications frequently arise following the conclusion of orthodontic treatment, predominanly relapse. Relapse refers to repositioning teeth to their pre-treatment state; its progression is stochastic, thereby rendering relapse possible for each individual. Patients who fail to wear retainers consistently will relapse of the affected teeth after orthodontic treatment. Therefore, this case report details the successful treatment of tooth relapse with a removable orthodontic appliance. A 22-year-old female patient complained of irregular alignment of her lower front teeth. The patient received two years of treatment with fixed orthodontics; however, she ceased using retainers regularly after treatment concluded. An objective examination indicated that the teeth in the upper jaw teeth remain in a well-aligned position; however, the lower jaw exhibited that tooth 32 was mesiolabiotorsiversion, tooth 33 was distolinguotorsiversion, tooth 41 was labioversion, tooth 42 was mesiolinguotorsiversion, with an overjet of 3 mm and an overbite of 2 mm. Afterward, the malposition of the lower jaw teeth was corrected with an expansion plate for a removable orthodontic appliance. Following 20 follow-up treatments over five months, the malposition of the lower jaw teeth has been corrected. As a result, it can be deduced that removable orthodontic appliances continue to be efficacious in rectifying mild malposition caused by dental relapse, thereby obviating patients' need to reapply costly fixed orthodontic appliances.

Correction of Maxillary Multiple Diastem and Mandibular Crowding with Removable Orthodontic

Crowding and diastema are common malocclusion conditions that occur due to a discrepancy between tooth size and jaw size. The treatment that can be done is based on the severity of the case. Mild cases of malposition can be treated with removable orthodontic appliances. This article aims to show the analysis how an active plate device with a simple spring was used to treat multiple maxillary diastemas and anterior crowding of the mandible. The patient complained that his upper front teeth gap and his lower teeth were crowded. It does not interfere with the appearance, but sometimes open food is tucked between the front teeth. The patient has never used an orthodontic appliance before. Molar relation: Malocclusion Angle class 1 type dental with mild individual tooth malposition. Twenty-two treatment visits were performed. Treatment was carried out using an active plate with a simple spring on teeth 13, interdental 31-41, and 43; retentive components using Adam Clamer on teeth 16, 26, 36, and 46; long labial arch with U loops on the right and left permanent 1st premolar teeth. In the 22nd control, the results showed that teeth 11, 21, and 43 malpositions were corrected, and the diastema was closed on tooth 14 against 13 and tooth 21 against 22. In addition, the width of the diastema on interdental 13-12, 12-11, and 22-23 was reduced to 0.05 mm. SPACE SEARCH FOR MINOR CROWDING CASES WITH EXPANSION PLATE IN PATIENTS WITH A HISTORY OF ANTIDEPRESSANT DRUG CONSUMPTION

Introduction: Gaining space in malocclusion cases using expansion plate removable orthodontic appliances. Depression is a mental health disorder that is treated with antidepressants. There is a correlation between a history of long-term antidepressant medication use and orthodontic treatment. Case: A 21-year-old female patient with a history of antidepressant medication complained of slightly advanced maxillary front teeth and crowded mandibular front teeth. Clinical examination revealed the first permanent molar relation Angle Class I modified Dewey type 2 malocclusion with malposition of individual teeth. Arch discrepancy analysis showed a space deficiency of 4 mm in the maxilla and 2.85 mm in the mandible. Case Management: The first stage used a removable orthodontic appliance for maxillary and mandibular expansion plates to obtain space deficiency. The expansion results showed that the maxillary dental arch was successfully expanded by 4.52 mm and the mandibular by 4 mm. Discussion: The slow-type expansion plate functions to expand the dental arch. Conclusion and Suggestion: Expansion plate removable orthodontic treatment effectively gains space in patients with a history of antidepressant drug use. Patients' cooperativeness in wearing the appliance influences the expansion plate removable orthodontic appliance treatment result.

 Background: Removable orthodontic appliance is one of the solutions of malocclusion problems in Indonesia. This appliance can treat mild to moderate dental malocclusion, such as Class I Angle, and can be removed by patients under the supervision of a dentist. Assessment of the success rate of removable orthodontic treatment can be performed using intermolar and inter dm2 distance measurements with anterior crowding correction. Objective: To determine orthodontic treatment success rate using removable appliance based on intermolar and inter dm2 distance measurement with anterior crowding correction in children aged 7-10 years at RSGM-P Trisakti University 2017-2019. Methods: The study was observational analytic to perform measurements of anterior crowding, intermolar, and inter dm2 distance on 26 pairs of the study model were selected using a random sampling method. Results: 19 patients have an increase in width at intermolar distance maxillary parameter and 22 patients at the mandibular (range 0.5 - 7 mm). 24 patients have an increase in width at inter dm2 distance maxillary parameter and 23 patients at mandibular (range 0.5 - 4 mm). All patients have an intermolar distance that exceeds the Pont prediction before orthodontic treatment. Conclusion: There were significant differences in maxillary and mandibular intermolar and inter dm2 distance parameters measurement of the study model before and after orthodontic treatment (p <0.05). There was no significant difference in anterior crowding parameter measurement of the study model before and after orthodontic treatment (p> 0.05).

Removable Orthodontic Treatment for Managing Relapse Due to Eruption of Third Molars: A Case Report

Relapse is a return to the initial form of malocclusion after correction. Relapse occurred after the patient underwent a fixed orthodontic treatment, and it could be associated with the role of third molar eruption. The use of removable orthodontic appliances can maintain the retention period to prevent relapse. This report aims to report the use of removable orthodontic appliances in correcting a minor relapse case. A 23-year-old patient came to RSGM UMY complaining of misaligned upper and lower front teeth for several months after completing fixed orthodontic treatment. She felt her lower front teeth were crowded and moved more backward than the other teeth. The treatment used maxillary and mandibular expansion plates to gain space. The active plate on the maxilla was a medium labial arch and a simple spring on the mandible. A checkup of the patient was seen once a week which involved cleaning the oral cavity and the plate, measuring the space by the activated expansion screw, and checking for correction of individual teeth. The bilateral expansion plate can be used to correct mild anterior crowding due to relapse, followed by an active plate with a simple spring. The success of treatment was influenced by the patient’s cooperation and compliance with using removable orthodontic appliances.

In Vitro Comparative Evaluation of the Efficacy of Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy, Chlorhexidine, Sodium Fluoride, and Hydrogen Peroxide for Acrylic Resin Disinfection.

Introduction: Plaque accumulation on the surface of removable orthodontic appliances could lead to dental caries, periodontitis, and fungal infections. This study evaluated the effectiveness of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), chlorhexidine (CHX), sodium fluoride (NaF), and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for the disinfection of acrylic resin. Methods: In this in vitro experimental study, 100 acrylic resin specimens were randomly divided into five groups (n=20 each): Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus salivarius, Streptococcus sanguinis, and Lactobacillus acidophilus. Each group was immersed separately in 5 mL of microbial suspension. They were then incubated until biofilm formation on their surface. Of each microorganism, one biofilm sample in phosphate-buffered saline was considered as negative control, and other biofilm samples (n=80) were subjected to aPDT with curcumin, 0.12% CHX (positive control), 1% H2O2, and 0.2% NaF. Finally, the number of colonies was counted. Data were analyzed by the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests, two-way ANOVA, and Bonferroni adjustment at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The interaction effect of the treatment modality and type of microorganism was significant on the microbial count (effect size: 0.91, P<0.05). Maximum bacterial proliferation was noted in the following combinations: NaF/E. faecalis, H2O2/E. faecalis, and H2O2/S. salivarius. Microorganisms had no or insignificant growth and proliferation in the aPDT and CHX groups. Conclusion: The results supported the optimal antimicrobial efficacy of PDT which was comparable to that of CHX. aPDT showed superior antimicrobial efficacy to NaF and H2O2 for the disinfection of acrylic resin.

Effect of Different Cleaning Regimes on Biofilm Formation of Acrylic-Based Removable Orthodontic Appliance: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different cleaning regimes of acrylic-based removable orthodontic appliances on bacterial biofilm formation and whether the surface modification, i.e., polished acrylic fitting surface, reduces biofilm formation. This double-blind, parallel, randomized clinical trial involved thirty-nine orthodontic patients indicated for removable orthodontic appliances. The patients were allocated into three groups according to the cleaning method: brushing with a denture brush and chlorhexidine (CHX) toothpaste, Lacalut cleaning tablet, and a combination of both cleaning methods. Each patient wore an upper removable appliance containing eight wells fitted with eight detachable acrylic tiles (four polished and four unpolished) for seven days. Five types of oral microbiota were evaluated using selective growth media and biochemical tests. The biofilm cleaning efficacy was assessed using the colony-forming unit (CFU) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Statistical Analysis. Data from the CFU using different cleansing regimes were compared, following log transformation, using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The polished and unpolished tiles were compared for biofilm formation on each cleansing method using an independent t-test. There was no significant difference among the three cleaning methods on the polished or unpolished tiles. However, in polished tiles, streptococci were significantly reduced in all cleaning methods, whereas staphylococci and Staphylococcus aureus were markedly decreased in brushing and combination cleaning methods. However, the total number of anaerobic bacteria was significantly reduced in polished tiles using the combination method only. Polishing the fitting surface of an acrylic-based orthodontic appliance reduced the tested bacterial biofilm formation and may enhance cleaning efficiency. Brushing and combination methods showed superior cleaning effects compared to cleaning tablets. This trial is registered with NCT05707221.

Correction of Central Diastema and Individual Dental Malposition with Removable Orthodontic Appliance

Background: Central diastema refers to an anterior spacing between maxillary central incisors and malposition of the individual teeth refers to the teeth being crowded in the upper and lower jaws. There are many causative factors that contribute to the occurrence of these two cases, such as heredity, frenulum deformity, gender, and bad habit. Removable orthodontic appliances are devices that can be used in cases of mild malocclusion. Objective: The purpose of writing this case report is to show that removable orthodontic appliances are the first choice for dentists. Case: A 23-year-old male patient came to UMY Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM UMY) complaining that his front teeth had spacing and some irregularly arranged teeth. The patient felt uncomfortable with the condition of the teeth. Patient complaints are felt as early as 3 years ago. One year ago, had already used a removable orthodontic appliance and after the treatment is finished then used a retainer but only for 1 month because the retainer is missing. The case of this patient is class I Angle with central diastema and malposition of individual teeth. Case Management: Treatment is carried out using removable orthodontic appliances. The appliances component uses a simple spring on tooth 31 and 41, retentive component uses Adam’s clasp on teeth 16, 26, 36 and 46. Labial arch with a U loop in between canine and first premolar. Conclusion: The removable orthodontic appliance should be used to correct cases of mild malocclusion such as a central diastema with mild malposition of the individual teeth.

Effect of nanoparticle addition on antimicrobial properties for acrylic removable orthodontic appliance

Removable orthodontic appliances have acrylic resin-based plate components that often result in plaque retention and bacterial build-up, leading to dental and periodontal problems. Several studies have tried adding nanoparticles to acrylic resins to over-come these problems. This review discusses the effect of nanoparticle addition on the antimicrobial properties of orthodontic removable acrylic resin. A literature review was conducted on 10 articles obtained from PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar by determining inclusion, exclusion and keyword criteria. Literature search using boolean search based on inclusion criteria obtained data that the addition of various nanoparticle materials such as zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, magnesium oxide produces good antimicrobial properties, especially in the process of inhibiting microbial adhesion. It is concluded that the addi-tion of nanoparticles to acrylic resin orthodontic appliances provides effective antimicrobial properties so that it can be applied clinically to prevent diseases in the oral cavity such as gingivitis and dental caries.

One phase prosthetic and orthodontic treatment in children: Case study

Background: Dental trauma in children is reported about 25–33%. Besides dental trauma, children are also at high risk for malocclusion. The prevalence of malocclusion in children was reported as 39% in children and 93% in adolescents. If the patient has malocclusion and a history of tooth loss due to trauma at the same time, there is often a dilemma as to which treatment should be prioritized. This case report will combine the Prosthetic phase and the orthodontic phase at the same time. Case reports regarding denture-modified removable orthodontic appliances in children have so far not been found. Case Report: An 11-year-old boy came with his mother to pediatric dentistry department at Universitas Airlangga with the chief complaint of missing teeth due to extraction at the dentist two years ago due to trauma. On intraoral clinical examination, it was found missing 11, crossbite 21 with 31 and 32. Case Management: Patients were planned treatment of malocclusion with removable orthodontic appliances added with riding pontic 11. Discussion: Tooth loss in children will affect speech, eating, and self-confidence. Several authors have reported appliance modifications and reported satisfactory results. During malocclusion treatment, dentures may not provide optimal aesthetic results. However, the advantages provided by the presence of dentures during the treatment of malocclusion are considered to be greater. Conclusion: Modification of removable orthodontic appliances combined with dentures can be a solution to both prosthodontic treatment needs and malocclusion.

Anti-multispecies microbial biofilms and anti-inflammatory effects of antimicrobial photo-sonodynamic therapy based on acrylic resin containing nano-resveratrol

BackgroundPolymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)-based removable orthodontic appliances are susceptible to microbial colonization due to the surface porosity, and accumulating the biofilms causes denture stomatitis. the present study evaluated the anti-biofilm and antiinflammatory effects of antimicrobial photo-sonodynamic therapy (aPSDT) against multispecies microbial biofilms (Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus sobrinus, and Actinomyces naeslundii) formed on acrylic resin modified with nanoresveratrol (NR). Materials and methodsFollowing the determination of the minimum biofilm inhibitory concentration (MBIC) of NR, in vitro anti-biofilm activity of NR was evaluated. The antibiofilm efficacy against multispecies microbial biofilm including C. albicans, S. aureus, S. sobrinus, and A. naeslundii, were assessed by biofilm inhibition test and the results were measured. To reveal the anti-inflammatory effects of aPSDT on human gingival fibroblast (HGF) cells, the gene expression levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were evaluated via quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). ResultsAccording to the results, the MBIC dose of NR against multispecies microbial biofilm was considered 512 µg/mL. The highest biofilm reduction activity was observed in MBIC treated with aPSDT and 2 × MBIC exposed to light emitting diode (LED) and ultrasound waves (UW). The expression level of TNF-α and IL-6 genes were significantly increased when HGF cells were exposed to multispecies microbial biofilms (P<0.05), while after treatment with aPSDT, the expression levels of genes were significantly downregulated in all groups (P<0.05). ConclusionOverall, NR-mediated aPSDT reduced the growth of the multispecies microbial biofilm and downregulated the expression of TNF-α and IL-6 genes. Therefore, modified PMMA with NR can be serving as a promising new orthodontic acrylic resin against multispecies microbial biofilms and the effect of this new material is amplified when exposed to LED and UW.

Assessment of microbial contamination in removable orthodontic appliances with and without the use of antimicrobial agents by checkerboard DNA-DNA hybridization analysis

This clinical, crossover, double-blind trial evaluated the microbial contamination of removable orthodontic appliances used by children and the efficacy of 0.12% chlorhexidine gluconate spray use for disinfection. Twenty children aged 7-11 years were instructed to wear removable orthodontic appliances for 1 week. They were instructed to use a placebo solution (control) or 0.12% chlorhexidine gluconate (experimental) to clean the appliances on days 4 and 7 after installation. After this period, the microbial contamination on the surfaces of the appliance was analyzed using checkerboard DNA-DNA hybridization for 40 bacterial species. Data were analyzed by Fisher exact, t, and Wilcoxon tests (α= 0.05). Removable orthodontic appliances were heavily contaminated by the target microorganisms. Streptococcus sanguinis, Streptococcus oralis, Streptococcus gordonii, and Eikenella corrodens were found in 100% of the appliances. Among cariogenic microorganisms, Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus were more abundant than Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus casei. Red complex pathogens were more abundant than orange complex species. Purple complex bacteria were the most prevalent among bacterial complexes not associated with specific pathologies, detected in 34% of the samples. After the use of chlorhexidine, the number of cariogenic microorganisms (S. mutans, S. sobrinus, and L. casei) decreased significantly (P<0.05), and the numbers of periodontal pathogenic species from the orange and red complex also decreased significantly (P<0.05). There was no reduction for Treponema socranskii. Removable orthodontic appliances were densely contaminated by several bacterial species. Twice-a-week application of chlorhexidine spray effectively reduced cariogenic and orange and red complex periodontal pathogens.

EFFECT OF ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT OF GENERALIZED PERIODONTITIS ON ORAL HYGIENIC STATUS

Orthodontic treatment of patients with generalised periodontitis can have a negative impact on the periodontium. Removable orthodontic appliances have a lesser impact on the periodontium. Considering such details of orthodontic treatment for patients with generalized periodontitis, it is critical to start orthodontic treatment as early as possible, when significant manifestations of traumatic occlusion and pronounced displacements of teeth have not developed yet.&#x0D; The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of early orthodontic treatment using removable orthodontic appliances in patients with generalized periodontitis and its effect on the hygienic status of the periodontium. The study involved 40 adolescents (18-35 years) with generalized periodontitis who had displaced upper front teeth. Removable orthodontic appliances and individual retainers were used for orthodontic correction, and the patients underwent a comprehensive examination of the periodontium to assess their hygienic indices during the course of treatment.&#x0D; The assessment of the periodontal tissues shows that almost all patients had an inflammatory process in their periodontal tissues. Previously, the patients had undergone Phase 1 integrated treatment for generalized periodontitis. One month after the beginning of the orthodontic correction, there was certain deterioration in the periodontal condition. However, following the completion of orthodontic treatment, the hygienic condition of the periodontium improved.&#x0D; The study concluded that the combination of periodontal disease and tooth displacement requires comprehensive treatment using orthodontic methods. While the use of orthodontic treatment led to some deterioration in the periodontal condition, appropriate correction of drug treatment and rational oral hygiene practices can compensate for this.

3D printed removable functional appliances for early orthodontic treatment – Possibilities and limitations

The early treatment of certain malocclusions, such as class II division 1, is recommended to decrease the likelihood of upper incisor trauma. However, the lack of skilled technicians and economic constraints prevent the availability of well-known removable functional appliances. The orthodontic profession is undergoing changes, and automation may offer a solution to these challenges. This article discusses the potential for automating the production of two commonly used removable orthodontic appliances. While CAD-CAM systems have streamlined dental manufacturing, 3D printing is a popular option for certain manufacturing processes. However, the adoption of 3D printing for orthodontic devices faces hurdles, such as redesigning devices for this new manufacturing process, material considerations, and necessary certifications. To showcase the potential design and manufacturing process of 3D printed devices that fall under the category of appliances similar in type and style to FR II and Sander II, the article centers on these two widely recognized appliances. As it is currently not possible to replicate all analog features in 3D, it may be appropriate to use a more general name for the FR II and Sander II appliances. In summary, the article examines the potential and limitations of automation in orthodontic appliance manufacturing.

A brief history of the development and use of vulcanised rubber in dentistry

Until the late nineteenth century, denture baseplates and removable orthodontic appliances were usually made of gold. Though now largely forgotten, the discovery of vulcanised rubber was instrumental in making these forms of dental treatment widely available to the general public. While Charles Goodyear is recognised for his role in the development of vulcanite in America, that of Thomas Hancock in the UK is less well-known.

Effect of cleaning solutions on surface roughness and flexural strength of removable orthodontic appliances

Purpose: Compare the roughness of self-curing acrylic resin and the flexural strength of nickel-chrome (Ni-Cr) wires of orthodontic appliances submitted to different cleaning processes. Materials and methods: Samples were made with NiCr orthodontic wires bent into a “T” loop and embedded in self-curing acrylic resin and submitted to four different cleaning procedures (n = 21): Group 1 – immersion for 15 minutes in deionized water and active oxygen-based tablet; Group 2 - immersion for 15 minutes in chlorhexidine 0.12%; Group 3 – spray with chlorhexidine 0.12% solution; and Group 4 – immersion in deionized water (control) por 15 minutes twice a day. Flexural strength of the orthodontic wire and roughness of the acrylic resin surface were determined at baseline as well as 90 and 120 days using an optical microscope. Normality of the data was determined using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests were used for comparisons of surface roughness. ANOVA followed by Duncan’s post hoc test was used for the comparison of flexural strength (α = 0.05). Results: No significant difference in surface roughness was found, except in Group 4, in which the last reading (2.25 ± 0.89) was significantly higher than the baseline reading (1.15 ± 0.27) (p = 0.013). Significant reductions in the flexural strength of the wires occurred in all groups (p = 0.002). Conclusions: Immersion in the cleaning solutions did not alter the surface roughness of the acrylic resin but promoted a reduction in the flexural strength of the wires.
