The city of Pasuruan holds significant potential for religious tourism, making it a prime candidate for tourism development. Achieving sustainable tourism, which involves finding a harmonious equilibrium between three key aspects - the quality of tourism experiences, the excellence of tourism resources, and the well-being of the local community - is imperative for the region. To this end, well-devised strategies are essential to facilitate urban tourism growth within Pasuruan City. This research endeavors to shift the focus of religious tourism development towards a sustainable paradigm in Pasuruan. Employing qualitative research techniques, the study uses methods such as observation, interviews, literature review, and documentation for data collection. The findings of the research underscore Pasuruan City’s potential for fostering sustainable tourism through the establishment of religious tourism offerings. The establishment of sustainable tourism practices not only promises to bolster the local economy but also enrich the lives of the Pasuruan community, ultimately shaping the city’s identity. This research aspires to serve as a guiding tool for the local government of Pasuruan City, aiding them in implementing tourism development strategies to uplift the region’s economy. This study was conducted by KPM students of Universitas Islam Bunga Bangsa Cirebon as part of a community service program focused on the development of religious tourism in Kerandon Village, Talun District, Cirebon Regency. The program aimed to raise awareness and encourage community participation in promoting and preserving religious tourism in the area. Various activities were undertaken to publicize the religious sites, making them more well-known to a broader audience. Despite the limited time for program implementation, this challenge was addressed by creating successors who will continue the program in the future, ensuring its long-term impact on the local community. The findings show an increase in the number of visitors to the religious sites in Kerandon Village. Additionally, the program successfully heightened community awareness of the importance of cultural preservation and environmental protection around the sacred sites in the village. The active participation of the community in maintaining and promoting these sites indicates that the program has effectively achieved its goals. Through community empowerment, it is hoped that Kerandon Village will become a more attractive and well-preserved religious tourism destination, drawing visitors from both within and outside the region. Moreover, the increased awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage and the environment is expected to provide long-term positive effects on the development of religious tourism and the well-being of the Kerandon Village community.

Development of Inclusion Through Minority-Conscious Tourism in The Madura Religious Tourism Area

In carrying out sustainable development, paying attention to many aspects is necessary. This article explores the aspect of justice for the entire community, which is one of the characteristics of religious tourism branding, which can provide access to the entire community to feel comfortable and safe when traveling and create significant growth in the creative economy of the surrounding community. Madura is generally known as a religious area that emphasizes religious values. In religious values, God never differentiates between his people. The research used a qualitative approach with the interpretive method where informants experienced an in-depth interview. The research finding described that in its development, Madura religious tourism should pay attention not only to economic aspects but also to the involvement of social justice in providing opportunities for people with disabilities to access the religious facilities and religious tourism they have. Together with the tourism department, researchers are trying to provide suggestions and strategies for the sustainability of religious tourism development that prioritizes aspects of religious branding and justice for every congregation. With increasing attention to the rights of people with disabilities in religious tourism, the image and branding will increase to attract the wider community to increasingly visit tourism in Madura in general and religious tourism in Sumenep in particular. Development focusing more on the tourism sector and the creative economy should not marginalize people with disabilities as part of the development object. Therefore, inclusion-friendly tourism development needs to be an input for related agencies and local governments to uphold aspects of social justice among fellow humans.

Development of Mosque-Based Religious Tourism at Masjid Agung Central Java

Religious tourism destinations in the area of Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah are; al-husna tower, electric umbrella, giant Qur'an, giant drum, unique architecture, Islamic da'wah radio studio 107.9 FM, Central Java Islamic Development Museum, office hall (office space), viewing binoculars, convention hall, souvenir shop and food court, digital library, graha Agung (lodging), all of them are in good condition and worth visiting. The development of religious tourism at the Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah is carried out by increasing the development of tourism products and tourist attractions. Organizing a program of religious study activities at the Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah by inviting well-known religious figures. Optimizing the attractiveness conditions of religious tourism objects, maintaining and improving cleanliness and security conditions, as well as promotion via the internet and print media.

What Is the Most Influential Authenticity of Beliefs, Places, or Actions on the Pilgrimage Tourism Destination Attachment?

Religious tourism attracts many pilgrims and tourists to travel to a sacred space, and the issue of its authenticity has become increasingly important. Convenience sampling was used to conduct a survey at Dajia Jenn Lann Temple, Taichung City, Taiwan, and 487 valid questionnaires were obtained. The linear structural equation model constructs the analysis results as follows: (1) The “authenticity of place” and “action authenticity” have a positive relationship on the “place attachment” and act as a mediator variable for the effects of “authenticity of belief” on “authenticity of action”. (2) Tourists who have visited twice or more have a higher impact on “authenticity of belief” than those who have visited once. (3) Among the factors of the “authenticity of belief”, “concept of life” and “concept of God” are the most important; among the factors of the “authenticity of the place”, “spiritual sustenance” is the most important; and among the factors of “authenticity of action”, “experiential action” and “consequential actions” are the most important. The “place identity” is the essential aspect of the “place attachment” factor. This study developed a scale of the authenticity of belief, place, and action. Research results can provide a reference for religious tourism development.

MEANING OF PLACE ON ENHANCING RELIGIOUS TOURISM IN THE MASJID RAYA BAITURRAHMAN BANDA ACEH

Tourism has an important meaning for a region because of the unique qualities and characteristics of that region. When tourism becomes one of the supports for economic success, people ask whether tourism in the area is worthy of being a tourist spot? one of which is religious tourism, which is a type of tourism that has a close interest in the religious side and places of worship. Religious tourism has its characteristics, both from the environment of the tourist area, the physical buildings, and the local culture of the local community. Banda Aceh is the capital of Aceh Province which has the nickname Veranda of Mecca, this city has a religious tourism area which is the research area, namely the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, which is now a religious tourist attraction that is the pride of the local community. The meaning of a place is very important in developing tourism, the presence of distinctive characteristics is the attraction of the place, and it has a lot of knowledge and experience for tourists. The meaning of a place for local tourists and foreign tourists will be different, due to the desire to visit and the experience of being there. Therefore, with research to find out the meaning of tourist attractions for visitors and religious tourism destinations, there will be a comparison of the level of visits by local and foreign tourists, so that the meaning of the place can be seen from the visiting experience, building characteristics for visitors and social interactions. This issue is a complex matter to discuss. As for what will be researched in this place, attachment research is the meaning of place. This research aims to determine the meaning of place attachment to the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh on the development of religious tourism. The type of research applied in this research is a mixed method of qualitative and quantitative nature obtained from literature studies, distributing questionnaires, field observations, and interviews; distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents, namely tourists and local communities; carrying out field observations at the research location; and conducted in-depth interviews with eight main informants, namely local community leaders, tourism practitioners, government officials, and academics. This will be analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods to produce comparative findings through the data obtained. This literature review can be applied by stakeholders as an evaluation tool in developing tourism, especially religious tourism in an area.

Ethno-cultural life of Old Believers of East Kazakhstan in the XVIII th- XXI st centuries

This article examines a unique phenomenon of Orthodox religious culture that has become widespread in the territory of the Russian Empire - the Old Believers. It is expected that the study of this cultural layer will contribute to the development of cultural and educational tourism. The author has identified the reasons for the appearance of Old Believers in Altai and eastern Kazakhstan in the 18th century. The Old Believers are distinguished by their conservatism in the religious aspect, however, representatives of this movement were successfully able to preserve their unique culture, relying on deep historical memory. The Old Believers are divided into various “accords” and “tales”, but in general they are united by some common religious postulates. The question of preserving the traditions and morals of the Old Believers without forcing young people to this religious faith seems relevant. To solve this problem it is necessary to involve specialists in religious studies and theology, museum workers who will contribute to the development of religious tourism in the region in order to preserve both the material and spiritual culture of the Old Believers in the region.

Synergy practice of religious tourism development in bangkalan regency in the era of digitalization

This study aims to look at the potential of religious tourism in Bangkalan Regency, known for its high level of religiosity which is relevant to the majority of Indonesian Muslims. This research is very interesting to be studied, explored, developed and integrated through religious tourism package programs to preserve and also contribute to increasing Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in Bangkalan Regency. In this paper, the problem lies in the synergy carried out by the social structure in the effort to develop religious tourism in the digital era which is still lacking due to the lack of expertise in the insight of tourism management even though it is an opportunity in the development of religious tourism. The method in this study uses qualitative research with an interpretive approach that describes the tourism potential and the extent of synergy built by the social structure by looking at the functions of the existing social structure. The results of this study state that (1) The practice of social structure in the development of religious tourism is less synergized, there is a need for intensive guidance, especially in resource management (2) The importance of implementing social systems, cultural systems and personality systems in efforts to develop religious tourism in Bangkalan Regency. Therefore, the importance of tourism development, especially religious tourism with the pentahelix model, so that the potential in Bangkalan Regency can develop optimally.

Review Of Entrepreneurial Literacy For Optimizing MSME Business Strategy In The Religious Tourism Area Of Sunan Ampel Tomb Surabaya

In this era of globalization, business challenges are increasingly complex along with technological developments and global market access. Entrepreneurial literacy is the main key in dealing with this dynamic, where a good understanding of business strategy is essential for business continuity. Religious tourism areas such as the Tomb of Sunan Ampel Surabaya have great potential as tourist destinations and centers of community economic activity. However, MSMEs in the region are faced with various challenges, such as intense competition, lack of entrepreneurial literacy, and lack of effective business strategy implementation. Ideally, MSMEs in the region should have a high level of entrepreneurial literacy and be able to optimize their business strategies to increase competitiveness and local economic contribution. This study aims to investigate business strategies that can be applied by MSMEs in the religious tourism area of Makam Sunan Ampel Surabaya, by considering entrepreneurial literacy as the main foundation. This research makes a new contribution by examining the relationship between entrepreneurial literacy and MSME business strategies in religious tourism areas, adding insight into the specific context of Sunan Ampel Tomb Surabaya. This research has high urgency because it provides a foundation for the development of MSMEs in the region, increasing their competitiveness, and at the same time supporting the development of religious tourism in Surabaya.This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The research subjects involved MSMEs. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis involves data reduction, display, and inference, with triangulation used to ensure validity.The results of research, observations, and interviews show that the research emphasizes the need to improve MSME entrepreneurial literacy in the Religious Tourism Area of Sunan Ampel's Tomb. Effective training and mentorship, with more than 70% of MSMEs involved, encourages business adaptation to uncertainty. Collaboration with entrepreneurship experts and the business community plays an important role. The integration of technology and business networks supports sustainable business growth and supports local tourism. This study summarizes effective strategies to increase entrepreneurial literacy, strengthen the contribution of MSMEs, and safeguard cultural heritage.

THE DYNAMICS OF THE STATUS OF BOROBUDUR TEMPLE AND THE POTENTIAL FOR DEVELOPING COMMUNITY-BASED RELIGIOUS TOURISM

This study investigates the complex interplay of factors influencing the status of the Borobudur Temple, a significant cultural heritage site in Indonesia. It examines its potential for fostering community-based religious tourism. Through an interdisciplinary lens, the study explores the historical, socio-cultural, and religious dimensions shaping the temple's significance and its evolving status within the contemporary context. It analyses the intricate relationship between the preservation of the temple's religious and historical value and the development of sustainable community-based tourism initiatives. Through literature reviews, this paper highlights the challenges and opportunities associated with balancing preservation efforts and promoting tourism activities that benefit local communities. Additionally, it underscores the importance of engaging various stakeholders, including local communities, religious authorities, government agencies, and tourism organizations, in fostering a collaborative approach to sustainable tourism development. Within the socio-religious approach, the framework emphasizes the need for a comprehensive strategy that respects the religious sanctity of the site, promotes cultural heritage preservation, and ensures the equitable distribution of economic benefits to the surrounding communities. The findings aim to contribute to formulating effective policies and strategies that promote the sustainable development of community-based religious tourism while safeguarding the cultural and religious significance of the Borobudur Temple.

IMPLEMENTASI COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM PADA WISATA RELIGI DI TULUNGAGUNG

This research aims to explore the management of religious tourism based on Community Based Tourism (CBT) in creating a deep spiritual experience using a neuroscience approach for pilgrims in Tulungagung Regency. The research method used is a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, involving direct observation, in-depth interviews with stakeholders, and analysis of related documents.Tulungagung Regency has great potential in religious tourism with various sites that are pilgrimage destinations, such as the Tomb of Sheikh Basyarudin and Sunan Kuning which is currently being researched by the author. The CBT concept is usually often applied in conventional tourism management which prioritizes material profits and the welfare of the surrounding community. In this case, researchers try to study the implementation of CBT in the religious tourism sector where the aspect of material gain is not the main goal. Through the CBT approach, this research found that the active participation of local communities in the management and development of religious tourism not only improves the local economy but is also able to improve the neuroscience spiritual experience of pilgrims.The research results show that the integration of CBT-based management with a neuroscience approach can create a deeper and more measurable spiritual experience. Pilgrims who carry out the Wirit Ritual, Meditation, Collective Prayer and Healing Ritual produce the Pilgrim's spiritual experience. With unique site management, driving figures, involvement of the wider community as the main tourism actors; Facilitating aid funds for existing embryonic activities, links to relevant stakeholders are some of the strategies identified as keys to the success of managing CBT-based religious tourism in Tulungagung Regency.This research concludes that the CBT-based religious tourism management model is effective in creating a deep spiritual experience for pilgrims while providing a positive impact on the social and economic desires of local communities. Recommendations are given to local governments and other stakeholders in adopting this approach for the development of religious tourism destinations in other regions

Linking emotional solidarity with residents' support for religious tourism development: an empirical research from a cultural heritage context

PurposeThe aim of this research study is to examine the role of emotional solidarity on religious tourism support. Data for the present research work were attained from various groups of residents in Amasya province/Türkiye.Design/methodology/approachThe Google form-based questionnaires were self-managed by the participants. In the context of the survey, 306 complete questionnaires were gathered. For the data analysis, partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique was used via SmartPLS 4.0 software in conjunction with SPSS version 23.FindingsThe analysis results show that the emotional solidarity dimensions such as welcoming nature and sympathetic understanding were found to be positively related with religious tourism support at different coefficient levels; however, emotional closeness was not statistically related.Originality/valueThis study adds fresh insights into the field of tourist literature and has beneficial ramifications for business development in the area of religious tourism.

Agile Governance Through Public Private Partnership: The Sunan Gunung Jati Tomb as a Religious Tourism Hub

This study delves into the public-private partnership between the Cirebon Regency Government and Kanoman Palace, aimed at developing the Sunan Gunung Jati tomb into a religious tourism hotspot. The Sunan Gunung Jati tomb complex has become the most visited site by tourists in Cirebon Regency. The tomb complex of Sunan Gunung Jati, located in Astana Village, Gunung Jati District, has emerged as a popular tourist destination in Cirebon Regency. Despite being a public good, the tomb is under the management and ownership of the private sector entity Kanoman Palace. In order to facilitate the development of this public good within the private sector, the Cirebon Regency Government implemented a public–private partnership approach. This study adopted a qualitative research method with informants selected through purposive sampling. Data validation was performed using triangulation. The findings reveal that a public-private partnership can be an effective instrument for achieving agile governance. It also underscores the pivotal role of the local government as a facilitator in the development of religious tourism. Furthermore, it identifies the primary actors involved in the development of religious tourism at the Sunan Gunung Jati tomb as the Kanoman Palace and the local community.

Inovasi Ekonomi Kreatif Dalam Pengembangan Wisata Religi Berbasis Pesantren

Creative economic innovations are developing in two villages in Ciamis Regency, namely Ciomas Village, Panjalu District and Jelat Village, Baregbeg District, where there are Islamic boarding schools and religious tourism activities. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. Data analysis techniques namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that it is true that there are creative economic innovations that are useful in the development of religious tourism in the two villages. In overcoming the perceived obstacles, the Village Government and Islamic Boarding School have made various efforts to overcome them at this time. As for those that have not been implemented, they are still due to deficiencies in one way or another in their implementation. There are two differences between the two villages that can be seen after conducting research, namely for Ciomas Village, the Village Government has not yet had a creative economy initiative that supports religious tourism but is willing to work together to help and succeed in innovation programs with residents and Islamic boarding schools. As for Jelat Village, the village government also has a program for the development of religious tourism in the area, but the enthusiastic residents are passive.

Religious Tourism and Sustainable Development of the Economy in the Context of Globalization in the Northeast Area of Romania

The present study aims to demonstrate the significance of religious tourism and its impact on both the economy and socio-culture. Religious tourism provides a sacred and spiritual environment that has the potential to shape the motivational state of individuals searching for cultural and religious landmarks and destinations to support their spiritual well-being. Hence, it is imperative to maintain close relationships between religion, culture, and tourism as they play a crucial role in promoting spirituality and human development, particularly in the context of globalization and sustainable economic development. In the latter part of the paper, research was conducted to formulate strategies aimed at the development of religious tourism in the northeast region of Romania, which is an economically underprivileged area with significant untapped tourist potential. The findings suggest that via improvements in infrastructure, the creation of a favorable business environment, enhanced promotion, development of accommodation facilities, and improvement in services, the area can achieve a higher quality of life and sustainable development.

Tourist Intention to Visit Al-Jabbar Mosque using Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB)

The tourism sector is one of the potential sectors to be developed in Indonesia. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) predicts the number of tourists will reach 1.8 billion by 2030. West Java has great potential for the development of religious tourism in Indonesia. During the 2022 year-end holidays, 1.18 million tourists came to Bandung. To develop this potential, the local government inaugurated the Al Jabbar Mosque, Gedebage, Bandung City, West Java to become a new religious tourism destination in the West Java region as a center for Islamic education, religious tourism and a representative public interaction space for West Java and even ASEAN citizens. This study aims to validate tourists' observations of religious tourism in the city of Bandung, especially the Al Jabbar Mosque. The aspects to be studied include attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control, religiosity and knowledge of tourists in influencing the intention to visit and recommend religious tourism of the Al Jabbar Mosque. In realizing the objectives of this study, a quantitative research method is carried out, in the form of a survey, 15 question items will be made containing the theory of planned behavior. Questionnaire data will be processed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) data analysis.

Strategy for Implementing 3A in the Development of Religious Tourism at the Kapal Bosok Mosque (Study: Community of Darangong Village, Curugmanis Village, Serang-Banten)

This study aims to find out in depth the application of the 3A strategy (Attractions, Activities and Accessibility) in the Religious Tourism of the Kapal Bosok Mosque.
