Olaparib maintenance therapy for platinum-sensitive relapsed ovarian cancer at a single institution: A retrospective study.

In this study, we aimed to investigate patient characteristics, efficacy, prognostic factors, and safety of olaparib maintenance therapy for platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer at our institution. Patients responding to platinum-based therapy and starting olaparib maintenance therapy for recurrent epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer at Kurume University Hospital between January 2018 and November 2021 were enrolled in the study. Their data were extracted retrospectively from medical records. In all, 50 patients were included. The median (range) age of the patients, follow-up time, and duration of olaparib maintenance therapy were 62 (39-87) years, 21.6 (2.2-45.9) months, and 7.2 (2-45.9) months, respectively. Among the 29 patients tested for homologous recombination (HR) status, 22 (75.9%) were positive for HR deficiency (HRD), 12 (54.5%) of whom had BRCA-positive tumors. The median progression-free survival was 8.9 months (95% confidence interval: 6.2-12.6), and the median overall survival was 27.1 months (95% confidence interval: 22.5-40.3). Multivariate analysis of prognostic factors revealed that HRD was an independent prognostic factor for both progression-free survival and overall survival. The most common adverse event was nausea (any grade, n = 30, 60%), resulting in drug interruption (n = 23, 46%), dose reduction (n = 17, 34%), and discontinuation of treatment (n = 1, 2%). Olaparib maintenance therapy for recurrent platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer at our institution was effective, with acceptable adverse events. HRD was the most significant prognostic factor for patients with recurrent platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer.

Laparoscopic Treatment of Bulky Nodes in Primary and Recurrent Ovarian Cancer: Surgical Technique and Outcomes from Two Specialized Italian Centers.

(1) Background: Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) represents a feasible approach in early-stage ovarian cancer, while this question is still unsolved for advanced and recurrent disease. (2) Methods: In this retrospective, multicenter study, we present a series of 21 patients who underwent MIS for primitive or recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) with bulky nodal metastasis and discuss surgical technique and outcomes in relation to the current literature. (3) Results: Complete cytoreduction at primary debulking surgery was obtained in 86% of cases. No complication occurred in our patients intraoperatively and only 11.1% of our patients experienced grade 2 and 3 postoperative complications. Notably, all the patients with isolated lymph nodal recurrence (ILNR) were successfully treated with a minimally invasive approach with no intra- or postoperative complications. (4) Conclusions: The results of our study are consistent with those reported in the literature, demonstrating that MIS may represent a safe approach in advanced and recurrent EOC with nodal metastasis if performed on selected patients by expert surgeons with an adequate setting and appropriate technique.

Biomarker-driven targeted therapy in patients with recurrent platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian cancer (BRIGHT): protocol for an open-label, multicenter, umbrella study.

Platinum-resistant, recurrent ovarian cancer has an abysmal prognosis with limited treatment options. Poly-(ADP-ribose)-polymerase (PARP), angiogenesis, and immune checkpoint inhibitors might improve the outcomes of platinum-resistant, recurrent ovarian cancer, but accurate patient selections for those therapies remain a significant clinical challenge. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of biomarker-driven combinatorial therapies of pamiparib, tislelizumab, bevacizumab, and nab-paclitaxel in platinum-resistant, recurrent ovarian cancer. A precision medicine combination of PARP inhibitors, anti-angiogenic therapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy will improve disease outcomes of platinum-resistant, recurrent ovarian cancer by accounting for genomic and immunologic features. The BRIGHT Trial is a prospective, open-label, multicenter, phase II, umbrella study planning to enroll 160 patients with serous, endometrioid, or clear cell platinum-resistant, recurrent ovarian cancer from 11 clinical centers in China. Patients are assigned to one of three experimental arms based on biomarkers. Patients with BRCA1/2 mutations will receive pamiparib plus bevacizumab (arm 1, n=40) regardless of CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes count. Patients with wild-type BRCA1/2 (BRCAwt) and ≥3 CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes count will receive the combination of tislelizumab, bevacizumab, and nab-paclitaxel (arm 2, n=50), while BRCAwt patients with <3 CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes count will receive bevacizumab plus dose-dense nab-paclitaxel (arm 3, n=50). After completing patient enrollment in arm 2, another 20 BRCAwt patients with ≥3 CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes count will be included as an arm 2 expansion. Treatment will continue until disease progression or intolerable toxicity, and all adverse events will be recorded. Eligible patients include those aged ≥18 with serous, endometrioid, or clear cell ovarian cancer, platinum-resistant recurrence, and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status of 0 or 1. Objective response rate (ORR) assessed by the investigators by the RECIST 1.1 criteria. 160 patients. Recruitment is estimated to be completed by 2024 and results may be published by 2027. BBT-877, a Novel Autotaxin Inhibitor, Abrogates Drug Resistance in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer Stem Cells.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) contribute significantly to the poor prognosis of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) due to their roles in drug resistance and tumor metastasis. Autotaxin (ATX) plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of the CSC-like properties of EOC tumors. BBT-877 is a novel ATX inhibitor used in clinical treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. However, the effects of BBT-877 on drug resistance and metastasis in ovarian CSCs remain unknown. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of BBT-877 on drug resistance and intraperitoneal metastasis of EOC. Spheroid-forming CSCs, which were isolated from two EOC cell lines, A2780 and SKOV3, were investigated by cell viability, western blot, PCR, Spheroid-forming assay, and in vivo experiments. Spheroid-forming CSCs exhibited increased CSC-like properties and paclitaxel (PTX) resistance. BBT-877 treatment inhibited the viability of spheroid-forming CSCs more potently than that of adherent ovarian cancer cell lines. Combinatorial treatment with BBT-877 and PTX significantly attenuated the viability of spheroid-forming CSCs. In a SKOV3 cells-derived intraperitoneal metastasis model, BBT-877 treatment reduced the number of metastatic tumor nodes, while combinatorial treatment with BBT-877 and PTX more potently attenuated the formation of metastatic nodes and accumulation of ascitic fluid. These results suggest that BBT-877 can be combined with conventional anticancer drugs for the treatment of patients with recurrent or drug-resistant EOC.

Maintenance Chemotherapy in Patients with Platinum-Sensitive Relapsed Epithelial Ovarian Cancer after Second-Line Chemotherapy.

(1) Background: Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy and adverse effects of maintenance chemotherapy in platinum-sensitive recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer after second-line chemotherapy. (2) Methods: A total of 72 patients from a single institute who had been diagnosed with platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer and had experienced either complete or partial response after six cycles of second-line chemotherapy were divided into a standard group (n = 31) with six cycles or a maintenance group (n = 41) with more than six cycles. We then compared patient characteristics and survival outcomes between these two groups. (3) Results: In all patients, after primary management for the first recurrence, the maintenance group showed worse survival outcomes. Patients who had not undergone either surgery or radiotherapy were divided into complete response and partial response groups after six cycles of chemotherapy. In patients with partial response, maintenance chemotherapy led to a significant improvement in PFS (median, 3.6 vs. 6.7 months, p = 0.007), but no significant change in in OS. The median cycle number of maintenance chemotherapy was four. (4) Conclusions: Maintenance chemotherapy may still play an important role in patients with platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer, particularly in selected patient groups.

HE4 and CA-125 kinetics to predict outcome in patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian carcinoma: the META4 clinical trial.

HE4 and CA-125 are used for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) screening, diagnosis, and follow-up. Our objective was to study HE4 and CA-125 kinetics in patients treated for recurrent EOC. Serum samples were prospectively collected before the first chemotherapy cycle and every 3 months until disease progression. Data from 89/101 patients could be analyzed. At baseline, the median CA-125 and HE4 concentrations were 210 IU/L (7-10,310) and 184 pM (31-4,836). Among the 12 patients (13%) with normal CA-125 (<35 IU/L) concentration, eight had HE4 concentration ≥75 pM, and among the 16 patients with normal HE4 concentration (18%), 12 had increased CA-125 concentration. The median nadir concentrations were 31 IU/L (3-8,744) for CA-125 and 75 pM (20-4,836) for HE4. The median times to nadir were 14 (0-130) weeks for CA-125 and 12 (0-52) weeks for HE4. In multivariate analysis, CA-125 and HE4 nadir concentrations (<35 IU/L, HR 0.35, 95% CI: 0.17-0.72 and<75 pM, HR 0.40, 95% CI: 0.20-0.79) and time to CA-125 and HE4 nadir (>14 weeks, HR 0.37, 95% CI: 0.20-0.70 and >12 weeks, HR 0.43, 95% CI: 0.23-0.83) were prognostic factors of progression-free survival. More investigations on HE4 kinetics could help to better monitor patients with CA-125 concentration within normal values.

Secondary cytoreductive surgery followed by olaparib tablets as maintenance therapy in patients with BRCA mutated recurrent ovarian cancer: A multi-center retrospective study

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of secondary cytoreductive surgery (SeCRS) followed by platinum-based chemotherapy (PBC) and olaparib tablets as maintenance therapy in patients with BRCA mutated recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer. MethodsThis was a retrospective study of a prospective database. We collected information on 623 patients diagnosed with BRCA mutated recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer, all of whom underwent SeCRS followed by PBC in combination with or without olaparib. Overall survival and progression-free survival were measured to evaluate treatment effectiveness. ResultsOf the 623 patients recruited, 240 underwent SeCRS plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy followed by PBC and olaparib maintenance therapy (Group A), 248 underwent SeCRS followed by PBC and olaparib maintenance therapy (Group B), and 135 underwent SeCRS followed by PBC only upon recurrence (Group C). The median progression-free survival for Group A was significantly longer than that for Group B (32.5 vs. 24.2 months, P<0.001), and Group B was significantly longer than Group C (24.2 vs. 15.1 months, P<0.001). The median overall survival for Groups A was significantly longer than that for Group B (71.4 vs. 63.5 months, P<0.001), and Group B was significantly longer than Group C (63.5 vs. 47.5 months, P<0.001). ConclusionsThis study suggested that SeCRS followed by PBC and olaparib maintenance therapy resulted in longer overall survival and progression-free survival than SeCRS followed by PBC only in patients with BRCA mutated recurrent ovarian cancer, especially in patients treated with SeCRS plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.

Collaborative expertise of gynecological and surgical oncologists in managing advanced epithelial ovarian cancer

BackgroundMost patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) present with significant peritoneal spread. We assessed collaborative efforts of surgical and gynecological oncologists with expertise in cytoreductive surgery (CRS) in the management of advanced EOC. MethodsUsing a prospective single-center database (2014–2022), we described the operative and oncologic outcomes of stage IIIC-IVA primary and recurrent EOC perioperatively managed jointly by gynecological and surgical oncologists both specializing in CRS and presented components of this collaboration. ResultsOf 199 identified patients, 132 (66 %) had primary and 53 (27 %) had recurrent EOC. Due to inoperable disease, 14 (7 %) cases were aborted and excluded from analysis. Median peritoneal cancer index (PCI) in primary and recurrent patients was 21 (IQR: 11–28) and 21 (IQR: 6–31). Upper abdominal surgery was required in 95 % (n = 125) of primary and 89 % (n = 47) of recurrent patients. Bowel resections were performed in 83 % (n = 110) and 72 % (n = 38), respectively. Complete cytoreduction (CC-0/1) with no disease or residual lesions <2.5 mm was achieved in 95 % (n = 125) of primary and 91 % (n = 48) of recurrent patients. Ninety-day Clavien-Dindo grade III-IV morbidity was 12 % (n = 16) and 21 % (n = 11), respectively. Median follow-up was 44 (95%CI: 33–55) months. Median overall survival in primary and recurrent EOC was 68 (95%CI: 45–91) and 50 (95%CI: 16–84) months. Median progression-free survival was 26 (95%CI: 22–30) and 14 (95%CI: 7–21) months, respectively. ConclusionsPerioperative collaboration between surgical and gynecological oncologists specializing in CRS allows safe performance of complete cytoreduction in the majority of patients with primary and recurrent EOC, despite high tumor burden.

Real-world Study on the Effect of PARPi as Maintenance Therapy on Platinum Sensitivity after First- and Second-line Chemotherapy in Patients with Recurrent High-grade Serous Epithelial Ovarian Cancer.

This study investigated the effect of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) as maintenance therapy after first- and second-line chemotherapy on platinum sensitivity in patients with recurrent high-grade serous epithelial ovarian cancer (rHGSOC). This study retrospectively analyzed 172 patients with rHGSOC treated at Zhejiang Cancer Hospital and Jiaxing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital between January 2017 and December 2021. The 1st-PARPi group comprised patients who received a PARPi as maintenance therapy after first-line chemotherapy (n=23), and the 1st-control group comprised those who did not (n = 105). Similarly, the 2nd-PARPi group comprised patients not given a PARPi in their first-line treatment (n = 30), and the 2nd-control group comprised those who were given a PARPi (n = 89). Among the 23 patients in the 1st-PARPi group and the 105 patients in the 1st-control group, nine and 99 were platinum-sensitive, and 14 and six were platinum-resistant, respectively (hazard ratio [HR]: 14.46, P < 0.0001). Among the 30 patients in the 2nd-PARPi group and 89 patients in the 2nd-control group, 10 and 71 were platinum-sensitive, and 20 and 18 were platinumresistant, respectively (HR: 4.37, P < 0.0001). Age, stage, residual tumor, the courses of platinumbased chemotherapy, and breast cancer susceptibility gene mutations were not associated with platinum sensitivity when using a PARPi as maintenance therapy after first- and second-line chemotherapy. Patients with rHGSOC using a PARPi were more likely to be platinum-sensitive and develop platinum resistance independent of PARPi duration. Care should be taken when using a PARPi as maintenance therapy after first- and second-line chemotherapy.

Effect of cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy on epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancer: An institutional review of outcomes and its clinical implications

BACKGROUND: Ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancer patients with advanced-stage diagnosis or recurrences spread to the peritoneal surface of the abdomen. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) can penetrate and eradicate tumors that are microscopic up to those with a diameter of 2.5 cm from the peritoneal surface following cytoreductive surgery (CRS). OBJECTIVES: The study aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of CRS with HIPEC versus CRS alone for patients with epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective cohort study included 50 patients (20 patients underwent CRS + HIPEC, while 30 patients underwent CRS alone). Records of these patients from January 2014 to June 2020 were reviewed, tabulated, and analyzed. RESULTS: The difference in recurrence rate between CRS with HIPEC and CRS alone was not statistically significant (50% vs. 43%, P = 0.774). The median time to recurrence was 10 and 9 months, respectively (P = 0.636). Five percent in the HIPEC group succumbed to the disease, while 13% died in the CRS alone group (P = 0.636). More post-operative complications were noted in the HIPEC group (45% vs. 10%, P = 0.007), but among these, only 2 cases had grade 3 to 4 complications (10%). The addition of HIPEC in the management of these patients resulted in a longer operative time (360 vs. 240 min, P &lt; 0.001) and postoperative hospital stay (8 vs. 6 days, P = 0.026). There were no intra- or peri-operative mortalities in both groups. CONCLUSION: CRS with HIPEC and CRS alone showed similar time to recurrence and recurrence rate. CRS with HIPEC had low risk of grade 3-4 complications and may still be considered as a treatment option for advanced, progressive, and recurrent epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancer.

Clinical guidelines for ovarian cancer: the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology guidelines.

Since the latest practice guidelines for ovarian cancer were developed by the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology (KSGO) in 2021, many studies have examined the efficacy and safety of various treatments for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Therefore, the need to develop recommendations for EOC treatments has been raised. This study searched the literature using 4 key items and the Population, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome: the efficacy and safety of poly-ADP ribose polymerase inhibitors in newly diagnosed advanced EOC; the efficacy and safety of intraperitoneal plus intravenous chemotherapy in optimally debulked advanced EOC; the efficacy and safety of secondary cytoreductive surgery in platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer; and the efficacy and safety of the addition of bevacizumab to platinum-based chemotherapy in first platinum-sensitive recurrent EOC patients who received prior bevacizumab. The evidence for these recommendations, according to each key question, was evaluated using a systematic review and meta-analysis. The committee of ovarian cancer of the KSGO developed updated guidelines for treatments of EOC.

A review and metanalysis of metronomic oral single-agent cyclophosphamide for treating advanced ovarian carcinoma in the era of precision medicine.

Oral metronomic cyclophosphamide has been used as a single agent or in combination with other drugs for several solid tumors with interesting results in disease palliation and mild to moderate toxicity, notably in patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) progressing after systemic chemotherapy. In this paper, we report a review and a metanalysis of heterogeneous data published up to date. The literature search was restricted to single-agent MOC. The analysis was conducted through March 2023 by consulting PubMed, Embase, Google Scholar, and The Cochrane Library databases. Research string and Medical Subject Headings included "ovarian tumor," "ovarian carcinoma," or "ovarian cancer," "fallopian tube cancer," "primary peritoneal cancer," "oral chemotherapy," and "metronomic cyclophosphamide." All articles were assessed for quality by at least two investigators independently, and a < 18 patients sample size cutoff was chosen as a lower limit with a Cohen's kappa statistical coefficient for accuracy and reliability. Metanalysis of selected papers was carried out according to a fixed model. The percentage of agreement between investigators on literature study selection was very high, reaching 96.9% with a Cohen's k of 0.929. MOC pooled objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate for recurrent or platinum-refractory ovarian cancer were 18.8% (range 4-44%) and 36.2% (range 16-58.8%), respectively. The mean progressive-free survival and overall survival were 3.16 months (range 1.9 to 5.0 months) and 8.7 months (range 8 to 13 months), respectively. The fixed model metanalysis of selected studies showed a 16% median ORR (12-20% CI, p < 0.001). Single-agent oral cyclophosphamide in EOC holds promise as a treatment option, even in the era of precision medicine. Genetic factors, such as DNA repair gene polymorphisms, may influence treatment response. Combining cyclophosphamide with biological agents such as PARP inhibitors or immunotherapy agents is an area of active investigation.

Prognostic Value of The Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio, Platelet-to-Lymphocyte Ratio, and Platelet Count for Platinum-Sensitive Recurrent Epithelial Ovarian Cancer.

To study the prognostic value of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and platelet count in patients with platinum-sensitive recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer (PS-ROC). This was a retrospective study on a database of platinum-sensitive recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer patients who received treatment at HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Medical Center (MSMC) between January 2010 and December 2020. The patients' demographic data, surgical factors, pathological factors, laboratory findings, and response to treatment were reviewed from the patients' medical records. Survival analysis was conducted using the Kaplan-Meier survival estimate and Cox regression model. In total, 56 patients were recruited in this study. The median overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were 33 (95%CI 23-43) and 11 (95%CI 8-16) months, respectively. Survival analysis showed a high PLR was associated with decreased OS compared with low value but no significant difference in PFS. High NLR was associated with poor OS and PFS. There was no association between the platelet count and survival outcome (OS and PFS). In the multivariable Cox regression analysis, the NLR, PLR, and platelet count were not significant prognostic factors for survival outcome. However, low hemoglobin and a decreased disease-free interval were significantly associated with poor PFS. A white blood cell count (WBC) ≥ 8,000 cells/mm3 was a poor prognostic factor for overall survival (Adjusted HR 7.64; 95%CI: 2.21-26.42; p-value = 0.001). The NLR, PLR, and platelet count were not associated with both the OS or PFS in patients with PS-ROC. However, the WBC level is an easy, readily available, and economical way to predict survival outcomes in PS-ROC patients and may help physicians to tailor therapeutic interventions in the future.

The role of inflammatory factors and T‐cell subsets in the diagnosis of recurrence in epithelial ovarian cancer patients and the effect of olaparin treatment on them

AbstractBackgroundThe aim of the study is to investigate the role of serum inflammatory factors and T‐cell subsets in the diagnosis of recurrence in epithelial ovarian cancer patients and the effect of olaparib on inflammatory factor and T‐lymphocyte subsets in patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer.MethodsIn this study, 100 patients diagnosed as recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer in our hospital and 100 patients without recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer in the same period were selected. According to the treatment plan, the recurrent patients were divided into conventional therapy group (Paclitaxel and Carboplatin) and combined therapy group (Paclitaxel, Carboplatin, and olaparib). The levels of serum inflammatory factors were evaluated by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay. The peripheral blood T‐lymphocyte subsets in each group were detected by flow cytometry.ResultsCompared with nonrecurrent patients, recurrent patients have higher serum interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) and tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α) levels (p &lt; .05), and lower interferon‐γ (IFN‐γ) level and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio. After adjusting for confounding factors, the results showed that the serum IL‐6, IFN‐γ, and TNF‐α levels were influencing factors of recurrence in epithelial ovarian cancer patients. The area under the receiver operating curve and the sensitivity of serum TNF‐α in predicting ovarian cancer recurrence were higher than those of IL‐6 and IFN‐γ. After secondary chemotherapy and/or olaparib maintenance treatment, the IL‐6 (p &lt; .001) and TNF‐α (p &lt; .001) levels in combined therapy group were lower than those in the conventional therapy, whereas the IFN‐γ level (p &lt; .001), the CD4+ T‐cell proportion (p = .0069) and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio (p = .0201) were higher than those in the conventional therapy.ConclusionThe serum IL‐6, TNF‐α, and IFN‐γ levels were closely related to the recurrence of ovarian cancer. Impact of Sodium Thiosulfate on Prevention of Nephrotoxicities in HIPEC: An Ancillary Evaluation of Cisplatin-Induced Toxicities in Ovarian Cancer

PurposeHyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with cisplatin confers a survival benefit in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) but is associated with renal toxicity. Sodium thiosulfate (ST) is used for nephroprotection for HIPEC with cisplatin, but standard HIPEC practices vary.MethodsA prospective, nonrandomized, clinical trial evaluated safety outcomes of HIPEC with cisplatin 75 mg/m2 during cytoreductive surgery (CRS) in patients with EOC (n = 34) and endometrial cancer (n = 6). Twenty-one patients received no ST (nST), and 19 received ST. Adverse events (AEs) were reported according to CTCAE v.5.0. Serum creatinine (Cr) was collected preoperatively and postoperatively (Days 5–8). Progression-free survival (PFS) was followed. Normal peritoneum was biopsied before and after HIPEC for whole transcriptomic sequencing to identify RNAseq signatures correlating with AEs.ResultsForty patients had HIPEC at the time of interval or secondary CRS. Renal toxicities in the nST group were 33% any grade AE and 9% grade 3 AEs. The ST group demonstrated no renal AEs. Median postoperative Cr in the nST group was 1.1 mg/dL and 0.5 mg/dL in the ST group (p = 0.0001). Median change in Cr from preoperative to postoperative levels were + 53% (nST) compared with − 9.6% (ST) (p = 0.003). PFS did not differ between the ST and nST groups in primary or recurrent EOC patients. Renal AEs were associated with downregulation of metabolic pathways and upregulation of immune pathways.ConclusionsST significantly reduces acute renal toxicity associated with HIPEC with cisplatin in ovarian cancer patients. As nephrotoxicity is high in HIPEC with cisplatin, nephroprotective agents should be considered.
