Newly graduated Australian psychologists’ interest and confidence in psychological approaches for psychosis: what role can psychology training providers play in increasing access to psychological interventions for psychosis?

ABSTRACT Objective Despite recommendations in international guidelines, implementation of psychological therapy for psychosis is limited. Clinician level factors (i.e. attitudes, confidence, and training) are significant barriers to implementation, but have not been investigated within the context of Australian professional psychology graduates. The current study aimed to examine predictors of interest and confidence in working therapeutically with people with psychosis in recent graduates of Australian psychology postgraduate training courses. Method An online survey was completed by 108 recent graduates from Australian postgraduate psychology courses. Participants provided data on hours of training, practicum experience, stigma, therapeutic optimism and levels of interest and confidence in working therapeutically with people with psychosis. Results Participants reported low levels of training and practical experience in psychological therapy for psychosis. Participants with higher training hours and who had delivered an intervention to someone with psychosis during training reported significantly more confidence in their ability to work with people experiencing psychosis. However, stigma was the only significant predictor of interest; psychologists with higher stigmatised attitudes were less interested in working with psychosis. Conclusions Increased opportunities for practicum experience with people with psychosis and interventions that address stigma in professional psychology training may support increased interest and confidence in providing psychological interventions for psychosis.

Comprehensive investigation of platelet function in patients with cirrhosis

Cirrhosis presents with thrombocytopenia and possibly thrombocytopathy. Previous studies exploring platelet function gave conflicting results and most controversies are explained by the variety of methods employed for investigation. We sought to assess in-vitro the overall platelet function in cirrhosis.We investigated 34 patients by using the following tests. (i)Aggregometry. (ii)Measurement of the content of platelet granules. (iii)Cytometric platelet activation. (iv)Plasmatic markers of in-vivo platelet activation. (v)Platelet procoagulant activity by thrombin generation (TG) in platelet-rich plasma (PRP).TG measured in PRP for patients and controls was similar. Platelets from patients with cirrhosis showed reduction of aggregation and secretion of ATP. Similar results were observed for platelet activation parameters such as P-selectin expression and PAC-1 platelet binding. Plasma levels of βeta-thromboglobulin and soluble P-selectin, were increased in patients-vs-controls. In contrast, there were no patients-vs-controls differences for plasmatic platelet-factor-4. Results are consistent with a state of in-vivo platelet activation and decreased in-vitro aggregation. Since bleeding events following invasive procedures are uncommon in cirrhosis, we speculate that in-vitro aggregometry testing does not reflect the situation occurring in-vivo. Results of the study and pathophysiological considerations support the conclusion that platelet function in cirrhosis as determined by aggregometry, although somewhat impaired, may support the overall hemostatic potential, which is needed for most invasive interventions. These conclusions are in line with the recommendations of international guidelines, warning against indiscriminate use of prophylactic preprocedural administration of platelets before invasive procedures. Decision on platelet support should not be made based on in-vitro laboratory testing for platelet function.

Treatment of Mycoplasma genitalium infection in pregnancy: Asystematic review of international guidelines.

Mycoplasma genitalium is an emerging pathogen, which has been linked to cervicitis, urethritis and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). With the advent of multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) panels for sexually transmitted infections, it is increasingly being identified in pregnant women. The aim was to review international guidelines, which had explicit recommendations for treatment of M. genitalium infection in pregnancy and breastfeeding. PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane databases were reviewed with no age, species, language or date restrictions. Studies were included if they had an explicit recommendation for treatment of M. genitalium in pregnancy. Studies were excluded if there was no recommendation in pregnancy, if they referred to other international guideline recommendations or were historical versions of guidelines. References were manually reviewed and 50 papers were selected for review. Only four guidelines were included in the final analysis and they were from Europe, UK, Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. All studies recommended azithromycin as first-line treatment, and advised against moxifloxacin use. The dosing schedule of azithromycin, varied between guidelines, as did the utility/safety of pristinamycin for macrolide resistant infections. Safety data was generally reassuring for azithromycin but inconsistent for pristinamycin. Azithromycin is the first-line treatment for macrolide susceptible or unknown resistance infections, but there is a lack of consistency regarding dosing of azithromycin or the utility/safety of pristinamycin for macrolide resistant infections in pregnancy/lactation.

Are international guideline recommendations for the management of placenta accreta spectrum applicable in low- and middle-income countries?

The aim of this study was to explore how obstetricians-gynecologists in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) can apply current international clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for the management of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) in limited resource settings. This was an observational, survey-based study. Clinicians with expertise in managing patients with PAS in LMICs were contacted for their evaluation of the recommendations included in four PAS clinical practice guidelines. Out of the 158 clinicians contacted, we obtained responses from 65 (41.1%), representing 27 middle income countries (MICs). The results of this survey suggest that the care of PAS patients in middle income countries is very different from what is recommended by international CPGs. Participants in the survey identified that their practice was limited by insufficient availability of hospital infrastructure, low resources of local health systems and lack of trained multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) and this did not enable them to follow CPG recommendations. Two-thirds of the participants surveyed describe the absence of centers of excellence in their country. In over half of the referral hospitals with expertise in managing PAS, there are no MDTs. One-third of patients with intraoperative findings of PAS are managed by the team initially performing the surgery (without additional assistance). The care of patients with PAS in middle income countries frequently deviates from established CPG recommendations largely due to limitations in local resources and infrastructure. New practical guidelines and training programs designed for low resource settings are needed.

The Rate of Insulin use and Suboptimal Glycemic Control among Egyptian Patients with T2DM: Cohort Analysis of Eighth Wave of the International Diabetes Management Practices Study (IDMPS).

The International Diabetes Management Practices Study (IDMPS) is an international annual survey aiming to study and characterize the current standards of care for managing DM in developing countries. In Egypt, DM represents a substantial burden on the healthcare system, with an estimated 10.9 million patients, ranking it 10th amongst countries with the highest prevalence of DM. Previous studies showed that to maintain safety and achieve treatment goals among diabetic patients, optimal insulin therapy should be selected individually based on the patient's needs. We reported the proportion of Egyptian T2DM patients on insulin therapy who participated in the eighth wave of the IDMPS. The 2018 IDMPS wave consisted of cross-sectional and longitudinal phases and aimed to evaluate the proportion of T2DM who were on insulin therapy in 13 countries from four regions. In Egypt, 17 physicians agreed to participate in the present study and were required to include at least one patient. A total of 180 T2DM patients were included in the cross-section phase. At the end of the ninth month of follow-up, data from 170 T2DM patients were available. A total of 39 T2DM patients (21.7%) were on insulin therapy, with a mean duration of 32.4 ± 36.6 months. More than half of the patients (n = 22; 56.4%) were on basal insulin, mainly long-acting (n = 20; 90.9%). The mean basal insulin daily dose was 0.3 ± 0.1 IU/Kg. Notably, 28.2% of the patients received insulin via vials, and 46.2% stated that they were adjusting the insulin dose by themselves. On the other hand, 60.2% of the study population was on oral antidiabetic drugs at the cross-sectional phase. Nearly 17.4% and 27% of the patients in the cross-sectional phase achieved the glycemic target per recommendations of international guidelines and the treating physicians, respectively. At the end of the longitudinal phase, the percentage of T2DM patients who achieved glycemic targets increased to 38.4% and 77.4% as per recommendations of international guidelines and the treating physicians, respectively. Overall, 38.3% of T2DM patients received diabetes education, and 28.9% were involved in an educational program provided by the physician or their clinical staff. Besides, 85.5% of T2DM patients followed their diabetes medication dosage and frequency strictly as prescribed. The proportion of insulin use in patients with T2DM aligned with the previous studies from different countries; however, it is still inadequate to achieve the targeted glycemic control. Nearly one-third of Egyptian patients received diabetes education, highlighting the need for adopting a national educational program. Nonetheless, the level of adherence among T2DM from Egypt appears to be high.

Comparison of standard mismatch repair deficiency and microsatellite instability tests in a large cancer series

BackgroundThe tumor-agnostic indication of immune checkpoint inhibitors to treat cancers with mismatch repair deficiency (dMMR)/microsatellite instability (MSI) increased the demand for such tests beyond Lynch syndrome. International guideline recommendations accept immunohistochemistry (IHC) for dMMR or molecular techniques (PCR or NGS) for MSI status determinations considering the two tests are equal, although there are scattered reports contradicting to this presumption.Materials and methodsHere we have directly compared four protein MMR immunohistochemistry (IHC) to MSI Pentaplex PCR test in a large cancer patient cohort (n = 1306) of our diagnostic center where the two tests have been run parallel in 703 cases.ResultsIn this study we have found a high discrepancy rate (19.3%) of the two tests which was independent of the tumor types. The MSI PCR sensitivity for MMR IHC status was found to be very low resulting in a relatively low positive and negative predicting values. As a consequence, the correlation of the two tests was low (kappa < 0.7). During analysis of the possible contributing factors of this poor performance, we have excluded low tumor percentage of the samples, but identified dMMR phenotypes (classic versus non-classic or unusual) as possible contributors.ConclusionAlthough our cohort did not include samples with identified technical errors, our data strongly support previous reports that unidentified preanalytical factors might have the major influence on the poor performance of the MSI PCR and MMR IHC. Furthermore, the case is open whether the two test types are equally powerful predictive markers of immunotherapies.

Helicobacter pylori infection diagnosis and management: current practices of Greek gastroenterologists.

The diagnosis and management of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection vary significantly, depending on country, area, and specialty. The aim of this study was to record the current practices of Greek gastroenterologists in the screening and treatment of H. pylori infection. An anonymous questionnaire consisting of 19 questions about the management of H. pylori infection was sent with the aid of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology to all members of the Society. The questionnaire was completed by 180 gastroenterologists, with a response rate of 31.4%. Diagnostic tests to confirm H. pylori infection are ordered by >90% of the gastroenterologists for patients with current peptic ulcer disease, gastric lymphoma, family history of gastric cancer, and an endoscopic appearance suggestive of gastritis. Most gastroenterologists (55.8%) also tested for H. pylori in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Histopathology was the most preferred (60.6%) method when testing was decided during endoscopy, while urea breath test was the most preferred method (67.8%) regardless of endoscopy. Most gastroenterologists use quadruple eradication regimens supported by international guidelines (90%), while 65.6% of the physicians answered that they systematically recommend the addition of probiotics to standard therapy. Most physicians (82.8%) answered that they always confirm the eradication of the pathogen. The majority of Greek gastroenterologists conform to the recommendations of international guidelines regarding the diagnosis and management of H. pylori infection, except for the screening of patients with GERD. A considerable number of doctors use probiotics in addition to standard therapy.

Blood Product Transfusions for Children in the Perioperative Period and for Critically Ill Children.

Approximately 1% to 2% of all hospitalized children receive a transfusion of blood products, in Germany as in other countries. High-quality scientific evidence on transfusions in children is scarce. The available evidence is discussed in this review. This review is based on publications on blood product transfusions in children that were retrieved by a literature search, including clinical studies, international guideline recommendations, the recommendations of the German cross-sectional guideline, and results of other recent, relevant publications. A restrictive transfusion strategy is recommended for all children, including those who are critically ill. Randomized controlled trials have shown that a restrictive strategy for erythrocyte concentrate transfusion in the intensive care unit is safe for children, including neonates. No robust data are available to enable the definition of a suitable threshold for the intraoperative administration of red blood cell concentrates in children undergoing extracardiac surgery. On the basis of studies from pediatric intensive care units, transfusions for hemodynamically stable children with a hemoglobin concentration of more than 7 g/dL are recommended only in exceptional cases. Therapeutic plasma is not recommended as volume replacement, except in massive transfusion. Platelet concentrate transfusions are indicated in case of active hemorrhage, and only rarely for prophylaxis. There is a broad lack of evidence from randomized controlled trials concerning the indications for transfusions in children. A restrictive transfusion strategy, which has been found safe in the intensive-care setting, is favored by the guidelines in the perioperative setting as well. Further studies are needed to evaluate transfusion triggers and indications for all types of blood products, especially therapeutic plasma. Until more evidence is available, physicians should be aware of what the current evidence supports, and blood products should be given restrictively, and not prophylactically.

Translation and cross-cultural adaptation into Portuguese-Brazil of NuHISS, Enlight, and uMARS

BackgroundEasy access to the Internet enables the creation of many online applications. In this sense, questionnaires were developed to evaluate the usability of health area online applications: the National Usability-Focused Health Information System Scale (NuHISS), the Enlight, and the User Version of the Mobile Application Rating Scale (uMARS). Those scales do not have a Portuguese (Brazil) version which is adequate to Brazil's culture. As a consequence, they can not be properly used in Brazil. ObjectiveTo translate and cross-cultural adapt the NuHISS, Enlight, and uMARS to Portuguese (Brazil). MethodsA methodological study involving the translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the questionnaires NuHISS, Enlight, and uMARS was conducted following international guidelines recommendations. The questionnaires pass trough an initial translation, translation synthesis, back translation, expert committee, and a pre-final version test. ResultsThirdy-two health professionals analyzed NuHiss, Enlight, and uMARS translated and cross-cultural adapted Portuguese (Brazil) version. There was conceptual equivalence between the translated and original versions, and no significant adaptations were needed during the translation process. 93.8% of professionals assume that the language is cohesive and 96.9% of them consider that the content is cohesive. ConclusionThe NuHISS, Enlight, and uMARS were successfully translated and cross-culturally adapted to Portuguese (Brazil) and can be properly applied in Brazil. Brazilian health professionals should use the questionnaires NuHISS, Enlight, and uMARS to evaluate health area applications usability.

Detection of chronic bronchoobstructive diseases in the Republic of Moldova according the prism of the recommendations of international guidelines

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is an important public health problem. According to literature data, chronic lung diseases are underdiagnosed and there are many medical, psychological, social and economic barriers. In order to highlight the barriers and facilitating factors for the detection of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the level of primary care, a mixed qualitative-quantitative study was carried out, with a survey of 1190 participants and focus groups with doctors. Every fourth patient with respiratory symptoms does not report them to the family doctor and every second symptomatic patient does not perform a spirometry test. The most important barriers are low addressability after medical assistance, underestimation of respiratory symptoms, lack of doctors, professional overload and low access to spirometry at the primary care level.

Is There a Role for Dark Field Microscopy in the Diagnosis of Lyme Disease?A Narrative Review.

The diagnosis of Lyme disease is becoming more common in Turkey. Nonetheless, some physicians are not aware of the diagnostic principles that should be followed when faced with a suspected patient and could use tests that are not recommended, such as darkfield microscopy. Dark field microscopy is a diagnostic technique to visualize the spirochetes that cause Lyme disease; however, it is not recommended for the diagnosis of Lyme disease. One of the main limitations of dark field microscopy is its low sensitivity. Another limitation is its high false-positivity rate, as other microorganisms and cellular debris can be mistaken for spirochetes, leading to a misdiagnosis thatmay result in unnecessary treatment. Therefore, this study aimed to review the literature on the role of dark field microscopy as a diagnostic method for Lyme disease and inform physicians about recommended approaches in line with the recommendations of national or international guidelines. An electronic search of Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science was performed using the following medical subject headings (MeSH) search terms: Lyme borreliosis, Lyme disease, Borrelia burgdorferi, diagnosis, and microscopy. With this narrative review, we aimed to inform physicians better and improve patient care for patients with suspected Lyme disease.

Use of angioembolization, treatment modalities and mortality in association with blunt liver trauma in Germany — a data analysis of the TraumaRegister DGU®

PurposeAngioembolization (ANGIO) is highly valued in national and international guideline recommendations as a treatment adjunct with blunt liver trauma (BLT). The literature on BLT shows that treatment, regardless of the severity of liver injury, can be accomplished with a high success rate using nonoperative management (NOM). An indication for surgical therapy (SURG) is only seen in hemodynamically instable patients. For Germany, it is unclear how frequently NOM ±\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$\\pm$$\\end{document} ANGIO is actually used, and what mortality is associated with BLT.MethodsA retrospective systematic data analysis of patients with BLT from the TraumaRegister DGU® was performed. All patients with liver injury AIS ≥ 2 between 2015 and 2020 were included. The focus was to evaluate the use ANGIO as well as treatment selection (NOM vs. SURG) and mortality in relation to liver injury severity. Furthermore, independent risk factors influencing mortality were identified, using multivariate logistic regression.ResultsA total of 2353 patients with BLT were included in the analysis. ANGIO was used in 18 cases (0.8%). NOM was performed in 70.9% of all cases, but mainly in less severe liver trauma (AIS ≤ 2, abbreviated injury scale). Liver injuries AIS ≥ 3 were predominantly treated surgically (64.6%). Overall mortality associated with BLT was 16%. Severity of liver injury ≥ AIS 3, age > 60 years, hemodynamic instability (INSTBL), and mass transfusion (≥ 10 packed red blood cells/pRBC) were identified as independent risk factors contributing to mortality in BLT.ConclusionANGIO is rarely used in BLT, contrary to national and international guideline recommendations. In Germany, liver injuries AIS ≥ 3 are still predominantly treated surgically. BLT is associated with considerable mortality, depending on the presence of specific contributing risk factors.

Cardiac telerehabilitation: current status and future perspectives.

Multidisciplinary cardiac rehabilitation (CR) improves the prognosis and quality of life of patients with cardiovascular disease and has therefore received strong recommendations in international guidelines for the treatment of patients with chronic coronary syndromes and chronic heart failure. Aiming to both resolve several barriers that impede participation in CR and to improve the effectiveness of CR, cardiac telerehabilitation (CTR) has emerged as acost-effective alternative to traditional, centre-based CR. Although the body of evidence for the feasibility and effectiveness of CTR is large and still growing, real-life implementations are scarce, which may be due to insufficient knowledge about CTR interventions and due to the challenges its implementation comes with. Up to now, mainly exercise-related core components of CR and e‑coaching have been investigated in the setting of CTR. Translation of research findings to clinical practice may be hampered by methodological limitations present in most CTR studies, being selection bias of participants, lack of long-term follow-up, heterogeneity of studied interventions and the lack of robust outcome measures. Besides conducting highly needed implementation studies for CTR interventions, their implementation could be facilitated by the development of guideline-based, multidisciplinary and personalised CTR programmes and widespread reimbursement for CTR.

De Novo Donor-Specific Antibodies after Heart Transplantation: A Comprehensive Guide for Clinicians

Antibodies directed against donor-specific human leukocyte antigens (HLAs) can be detected de novo after heart transplantation and play a key role in long-term survival. De novo donor-specific antibodies (dnDSAs) have been associated with cardiac allograft vasculopathy, antibody-mediated rejection, and mortality. Advances in detection methods and international guideline recommendations have encouraged the adoption of screening protocols among heart transplant units. However, there is still a lack of consensus about the correct course of action after dnDSA detection. Treatment is usually started when antibody-mediated rejection is present; however, some dnDSAs appear years before graft failure is detected, and at this point, damage may be irreversible. In particular, class II, anti-HLA-DQ, complement binding, and persistent dnDSAs have been associated with worse outcomes. Growing evidence points towards a more aggressive management of dnDSA. For that purpose, better diagnostic tools are needed in order to identify subclinical graft injury. Cardiac magnetic resonance, strain techniques, or coronary physiology parameters could provide valuable information to identify patients at risk. Treatment of dnDSA usually involves plasmapheresis, intravenous immunoglobulin, immunoadsorption, and ritxumab, but the benefit of these therapies is still controversial. Future efforts should focus on establishing effective treatment protocols in order to improve long-term survival of heart transplant recipients.

The feasibility of level Ib-sparing intensity-modulated radiation therapy in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma and high-risk factors classified based on the International Guideline

Background and PurposeTo examine the feasibility of level Ib-sparing intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) who had high-risk factors classified based on the International Guideline (IG). Materials and MethodsWe evaluated 961 non-metastatic NPC cases based on IG recommendations for prophylactic Ib irradiation. Four high-risk factors were used to categorise patients into three cohorts: A, B, and C. Propensity score matching was used to balance baseline characteristics in Cohort C, resulting in a matched Cohort C. Recurrence rates at level Ib and regional relapse-free survival (RRFS) rates were evaluated. ResultsAmong patients with negative Ib lymph nodes (LNs), 18, 54, 420, and 444 exhibited involvement of structures that drain to level Ib as the first echelon (FES), involvement of the submandibular gland (SMG), level II LNs with radiologic extranodal extension (rENE), and level II nodes with a maximal axial diameter (MAD) ≥ 2 cm, respectively. The recurrence rate was highest in Cohort A (11.1 %). Cohort B had no level Ib recurrence. In matched Cohort C, recurrence rates were low in both groups (Ib-sparing group: 0.6 % vs. Ib-covering group: 0.6 %, P > 0.999). No significant differences were observed in 5-year RRFS rates between the two groups in cohort A (p = 0.208), cohort B (p = 0.905), and matched cohort C (p = 0.423). ConclusionsLevel Ib-sparing IMRT could be performed safely for NPC patients with level II LNs who had rENE and/or MAD ≥ 2 cm. Further research should determine the necessity of level Ib prophylactic irradiation for patients with FES or SMG involvement.

Association of Real-Time Feedback and Cardiopulmonary-Resuscitation Quality Delivered by Ambulance Personnel for Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest.

Background High-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is associated with improved survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and includes chest compression depth, chest compression rate, and chest compression fraction within international guideline recommendations. Previous studies have demonstrated divergent results of real-time feedback on CPR performance and patient outcomes. This study investigated the association between emergency medical service CPR quality and real-time CPR feedback for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Methods and Results This study collected out-of-hospital cardiac arrest data within the Capital Region of Denmark and compared CPR quality delivered by ambulance personnel. Data were collected in 2 consecutive phases from October 2018 to February 2020. Median chest compression depth was 6.0 cm (no feedback) and 5.9 cm (real-time feedback) (P=0.852). Corresponding proportion of guideline-compliant chest compressions for depth was 16.6% and 28.7%, respectively (P<0.001). Median chest compression rate per minute was 111 and 109 (P<0.001), respectively. Corresponding guideline adherence proportion for compression rate was 65.4% compared with 80.4% (P<0.001), respectively. Chest compression fraction was 78.9% compared with 81.9% (P<0.001), respectively. The combination of guideline-compliant chest compression depth and chest compression rate simultaneously was 8.5% (no feedback) versus 18.8% (feedback) (P<0.001). Improvements were not significant for return of spontaneous circulation (odds ratio [OR], 1.08 [95% CI, 0.84-1.39]), sustained return of spontaneous circulation (OR, 1.00 [95% CI, 0.77-1.31]), or survival to hospital discharge (OR, 0.91 [95% CI, 0.64-1.30]). Conclusions Real-time feedback was associated with improved guideline compliance for chest compression depth, rate, and fraction but not return of spontaneous circulation, sustained return of spontaneous circulation, or survival to hospital discharge. Unique Properties of Yeast Probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745: A Narrative Review.

Probiotics, both bacterial and yeast, have long been associated with a beneficial health history and human well-being. Among yeasts, Saccharomyces is a genus that is efficacious in rendering better human health, with Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii) CNCM I-745 being classified as a probiotic agent. The present review highlights the unique properties of S. boulardii and its rolein the prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) and pediatric acute gastroenteritis (PAGE) in comparison to bacterial probiotics. Its unique properties,such as viability over a wide pH range, inability to acquire antibiotic resistance genes, and property to achieve a steady state rapidly, have given S. boulardii an edge over bacterial probiotics. In AAD patients, prophylactic use of S. boulardii has shown a significantly lower risk of AAD (in comparison to controls) and restored the diversity of gut microbiota. Among Indian children with PAGE, S. boulardii CNCM I-745 was found superior to Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and four strains of Bacillus clausii in shortening the duration of diarrhea and reducing the length of hospital stay. S. boulardii CNCM I-745 being considered a safe probiotic for use in children and adults also finds recommendations in several international guidelines for the management of acute diarrhea. The current review discusses evidence for the proven efficacy and safety of S. boulardii CNCM I-745 as a probiotic for preventing gastrointestinal disorders.
