Utilization of RFID Technology in the Employee Mobility System of the Inspectorate Office of Merauke Regency

The Inspectorate of Merauke Regency has a role as an internal supervisory agency for the implementation of government in Merauke Regency. Mobility in the office has not been supported by an entry and exit permit book for employees during working hours. The impact is a lack of employee attendance information. In addition, the process of calculating the percentage of active working time also experiences problems because it is done conventionally. To solve this problem, an employee mobility system was designed in the office by utilizing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. The system was built using the prototyping method. The design of mobility devices using a limited microcontroller in the form of a prototype. Presentation of data and information from the prototype recording is displayed on a website. The website is built using PHP and javascript programming languages. The results of the study led to a new innovation in monitoring the attendance of employees at the office during working hours by the Receptionist Department. The results of this study are also able to present the calculation of earning an allowance called Tunjangan Khusus Pengawasan Daerah (TKPD) for employees in the form of a percentage of mobility activity during active working hours.

Library System Using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Telegram Bot API


 Libraries as a service provider to the user that needs fast, easy, and efficient services. Optimization of the services performed by the application of information technology such as utilizing barcode technology for the library system. Along with the development, there were some shortcomings in the use of barcode technology. Barcode technology can be replaced by RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) in order to further improve the operational and library services. RFID has some advantages over the barcode system is the possibility of data can be read automatically without regard to alignment readings, past the non conductor materials like cardboard paper with access speeds of several hundred tags per second at a distance of several meters. The advantages and capabilities of RFID can be applied in a library system in the inventory, self-service, and security so as to generate optimal library services more than manual systems or even a barcode system. Utilization of RFID technology in the library and then combined with technology Telegram Bot API as a medium to facilitate user access such as notification, accessing history, and others.

Impact of Radio Frequency Identification Technology on Environmental Sustainability

ABSTRACTThis study is the first empirical investigation of the impact of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology utilization on a manufacturing organization’s ability to implement environmental sustainability practices and the organization’s level of environmental performance. The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationships among RFID technology utilization, environmental sustainability practices, and environmental performance. A structural model depicting the impact (direct and indirect through green supply chain management practices) on environmental performance is theorized. The efficacy of the model is assessed using a Partial-Least-Squares structural equation modeling methodology based on data from a sample of manufacturing managers. The results suggest that RFID technology utilization is positively associated with green supply chain management practices and environmental performance. This study contributes to the understanding of the impact of a specific technology, RFID, on environmental sustainability. RFID technology utilization is established as a viable component of a manufacturing organization’s environmental sustainability strategy.

Impact of RFID and information sharing on JIT, TQM and operational performance

Purpose– This aim of this paper, from a systems perspective, is to focus on the effects of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology adoption and information sharing within a manufacturing facility on the just-in-time (JIT) and total quality management (TQM) practices and the subsequent impact on operational performance of manufacturing firms.Design/methodology/approach– Data were collected from 104 manufacturing managers, supervisors and quality professionals and analyzed using a path analysis methodology.Findings– RFID technology utilization and supply chain information sharing combine to enhance a manufacturing organization’s JIT and TQM capabilities which lead to improve operational performance.Research limitations/implications– Although the sample size is large enough to support path analysis, it is not of sufficient size to support structural equation modeling. This limitation precludes assessing the model as a whole. Direct and indirect effects are assessed, however.Practical implications– Manufacturing managers are provided with a framework for assessing the synergistic impact of combining RFID technology and information sharing on the JIT and TQM capabilities and the subsequent impact on the operational performance of the firm.Originality/value– A systems approach to assessing the impact of a combination of RFID technology and information sharing on operations programs is developed and tested. The results verify the importance of implementing RFID technology within an information sharing environment and support the proposition that RFID technology enhances both JIT and TQM capabilities.

Impact of RFID on manufacturing effectiveness and efficiency

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology utilization in manufacturing firms on manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness.Design/methodology/approachUsing systems theory as a basis, a RFID utilization and outcome(s) performance model was developed from the literature. Data from a sample of 155 manufacturers were collected and the model was assessed using a structural equation methodology.FindingsFindings indicate that utilization of RFID technology leads to improved manufacturing efficiency and manufacturing effectiveness. Improvements in efficiency lead directly to improved organizational performance, and improvements in effectiveness lead directly to improved supply chain performance.Research limitations/implicationsData were collected during the growth stage of RFID technology adoption and were only collected from firms in the manufacturing sector. Results should be interpreted with these limitations in mind.Practical implicationsThe implementation of RFID technology can result in improved manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness. Practitioners considering adoption of the technology should fully account for these potential efficiency and effectiveness related benefits when determining the justification for adoption of this technology.Originality/valueThe paper describes one of the first empirically‐based studies investigating the impact of RFID technology implementation on supply chain and organizational performance in manufacturing organizations.

Radio Frequency Identification Technology Utilization and Organizational Agility

This study examines the impact of RFID technology utilization on organizational agility in manufacturing firms. Data from a sample of 328 manufacturers were collected and the model was assessed following a structural equation methodology. Findings indicate that adoption of RFID technology utilization directly and positively impacts organizational agility which in turn directly and positively impacts both operational and logistics performance. Additionally, operational performance directly and positively impacts logistics performance. Data were collected during the growth stage of RFID technology adoption and were only collected from firms in the manufacturing sector. Respondents held operations-level positions in manufacturing organizations. Results should be interpreted with these limitations in mind. The implementation of RFID technology can result in improved organizational agility resulting in improved performance. Practitioners considering adoption of RFID technology should weigh potential benefits from increased agility and performance against the costs of technology adoption.

Impact of RFID technology utilization on operational performance

PurposeThe purpose of this research is to focus on the most basic of relationships – the impact of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology utilization on operational performance. An RFID‐performance model is theorized and tested with data collected from a sample of manufacturing organizations using a structural equation methodology. The structural model incorporating RFID technology utilization as antecedent to operational performance is assessed.Design/methodology/approachSurvey data from a sample of 122 manufacturing sector organizations were collected and the model was assessed following a structural equation methodology.FindingsThe measurement scales assess as unidimensional, reliable, and valid. The theorized structural model fits the data relatively well. RFID technology utilization directly and positively impacts operational performance.Research limitations/implicationsInterpretation of the results should be tempered in light of this early stage of adoption of RFID technology in the manufacturing sector. Also, this study is limited only to the operational level benefits of RFID technology utilization. It does not assess the impact of the technology on business and supply chain level performance.Practical implicationsManufacturing managers can expect improved operational performance to result from the implementation of RFID technology. RFID utilization should not be seen by the practitioner simply as a cost of doing business but rather as a way to improve efficiency and effectiveness which ultimately will lead to increased profits.Originality/valueThe study offers empirical support for the adoption of RFID technology for the purpose of improving operational performance within the manufacturing sector.
