The Application of RBF Neural Network Model Based on Deep Learning for Flower Pattern Design in Art Teaching.

The rapid growth of artificial intelligence technology has been deployed in art teaching and learning. Radial basis function (RBF) networks have a completely different design compared to most neural network architectures. Most neural networks consist of multiple layers that can introduce nonlinearity by repetitive application of nonlinear activation functions. In this research, people will study the application of the RBF neural network model based on deep learning in flower pattern design in art teaching. The image classification process is finding and labeling groups of pixels or vectors inside an image based on rules. Deep learning is a type of machine learning that uses artificial neural networks to replicate the structure and function of the human brain. The proposed model uses the RBF neural network-based deep learning model in flower pattern design in art teaching and provides efficient results.

High Gain Converter with Improved Radial Basis Function Network for Fuel Cell Integrated Electric Vehicles

In a recent trend, electric vehicles (EV) have been facing various power quality issues, so fuel cells (FC) are considered the best choice for integrating EV technology to enhance performance. A fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) is a type of EV that uses a fuel cell combined with a small battery or super-capacitor to power its on-board electric motor. However, the power obtained from the FC system is much less and is not enough to drive the EV. So, another energy source is required to deliver the demanded power, which should contain high voltage gain with high conversion efficiency. The traditional converter produces a high output voltage at a high duty cycle, which generates various problems, such as reverse recovery issues, voltage spikes, and less lifespan. High switching frequency and voltage gain are essential for the propulsion of FC-based EV. Therefore, this paper presents an improved radial basis function (RBF)-based high-gain converter (HGC) to enhance the voltage gain and conversion efficiency of the entire system. The RBF neural model was constructed using the fast recursive algorithm (FRA) strategy to prune redundant hidden-layer neurons. The improved RBF technique reduces the input current ripple and voltage stress on the power semiconductor devices to increase the conversion ratio of the HGC without changing the duty cycle value. In the end, the improved RBF with HGC achieved an efficiency of 98.272%, vehicle speed of 91 km/h, and total harmonic distortion (THD) of 3.12%, which was simulated using MATLAB, and its waveforms for steady-state operation were analyzed and compared with existing methods.

Multiple Laplacian Regularized RBF Neural Network for Assessing Dry Weight of Patients With End-Stage Renal Disease.

Dry weight (DW) is an important dialysis index for patients with end-stage renal disease. It can guide clinical hemodialysis. Brain natriuretic peptide, chest computed tomography image, ultrasound, and bioelectrical impedance analysis are key indicators (multisource information) for assessing DW. By these approaches, a trial-and-error method (traditional measurement method) is employed to assess DW. The assessment of clinician is time-consuming. In this study, we developed a method based on artificial intelligence technology to estimate patient DW. Based on the conventional radial basis function neural (RBFN) network, we propose a multiple Laplacian-regularized RBFN (MLapRBFN) model to predict DW of patient. Compared with other model and body composition monitor, our method achieves the lowest value (1.3226) of root mean square error. In Bland-Altman analysis of MLapRBFN, the number of out agreement interval is least (17 samples). MLapRBFN integrates multiple Laplace regularization terms, and employs an efficient iterative algorithm to solve the model. The ratio of out agreement interval is 3.57%, which is lower than 5%. Therefore, our method can be tentatively applied for clinical evaluation of DW in hemodialysis patients.

Energy optimization of internet of things in wireless sensor network models using type‐2 fuzzy neural systems

SummaryIn this paper, type‐2 fuzzy logic design is employed to find the weight values of the radial basis function (RBF) neural network model, and thereby, the trained RBF neural network (RBFNN) model is intended to perform network energy optimization of the cloud‐assisted internet of things in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). RBF neural model comes under the class of feed forward neural network architecture and is a network with better generalization capability. RBFNN employs Gaussian activation function to determine the output of the network and the special feature of this activation function is that it follows a normal probability density function; hence it is a continuous activation function and provides better solutions than the other discrete activation functions. Due to which, in this work RBFNN is employed to determine network energy and to increase the life time of the network by selecting best cluster heads and also the network route. In RBFNN modelling, basically, the weights are initialized in a random manner, and this random initialization of weights at time results in the occurrences of global and local minima. The weights are tuned for their optimal values using type‐2 fuzzy model due to their capability of handling uncertainties, and since this problem of identifying optimal weight values of RBF neural model possesses highest level of uncertainties, type‐2 fuzzy system is applied here. Simulation process is done, and the results prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach in comparison with that of the existing approaches from previous literatures for the energy optimization problem.

State-of-Charge Estimation of Lithium-Ion Battery Pack Based on Improved RBF Neural Networks

Lithium-ion batteries have been widely used as energy storage systems and in electric vehicles due to their desirable balance of both energy and power densities as well as continual falling price. Accurate estimation of the state-of-charge (SOC) of a battery pack is important in managing the health and safety of battery packs. This paper proposes a compact radial basis function (RBF) neural model to estimate the state-of-charge (SOC) of lithium battery packs. Firstly, a suitable input set strongly correlated with the package SOC is identified from directly measured voltage, current, and temperature signals by a fast recursive algorithm (FRA). Secondly, a RBF neural model for battery pack SOC estimation is constructed using the FRA strategy to prune redundant hidden layer neurons. Then, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to optimize the kernel parameters. Finally, a conventional RBF neural network model, an improved RBF neural model using the two stage method, and a least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) model are also used to estimate the battery SOC as a comparative study. Simulation results show that generalization error of SOC estimation using the novel RBF neural network model is less than half of that using other methods. Furthermore, the model training time is much less than the LSSVM method and the improved RBF neural model using the two-stage method.

A novel locally regularized automatic construction method for RBF neural models

This paper investigates automatic construction of radial basis function (RBF) neural models for nonlinear dynamic systems. The main objective is to automatically and effectively produce a parsimonious RBF neural model that generalizes well. This is achieved by proposing a locally regularized automatic construction (LRAC) method which combines a recently proposed fast recursive algorithm (FRA) with the leave-one-out (LOO) cross-validation criterion. The new method offers distinctive advantages over existing approaches. Firstly, it uses an error criterion where the original model parameters are regularized, in contrast to orthogonal least square (OLS) based approaches where transformed model parameters are regularized. This enables the determination of the significance of each original candidate center and produces a compact neural model. Further, it can automatically determine the network size by the iteratively minimizing a LOO mean-square-error (MSE) without the need to specify any additional termination criterion. Finally, by defining a proper regression context, the whole network construction process can be concisely formulated and easily implemented with significantly reduced computation. An analysis of computational complexity confirms the efficiency of the proposed method, and simulation results reveal its effectiveness in comparison with alternative approaches for producing sparse RBF neural models.

Efficient identification of RBF neural net models for nonlinear discrete-time multivariable dynamical systems

In this paper, we propose a recursive identification technique for nonlinear discrete-time multivariable dynamical systems. Extending an early result to multivariable systems [15], the technique approaches a nonlinear system identification problem in two stages: One is to build up recursively a RBF (Radial-Basis-Function) neural net model structure including the size of the neural net and the parameters in the RBF neurons; the other is to design a stable recursive weight updating algorithm to obtain the weights of the net in an efficient way. Heuristics are employed to analyze the effect of RBF net parameters to the error of identification, leading to a simple but effective means to establish these parameters. The weight updating algorithm is developed based on ideas in the theory of adaptive control. Key stability results are proved in the paper along with illustrative examples to show the effectiveness of applying such a technique and other practical considerations.
