Radicke et al. reports on the solubility of cellulose - a chiral polymer - in six different ionic liquids (IL) at roomtemperature. The ILs are basesd on imidazoliumand 1,2,3- triazolium cations, respectively, and lactates as chiral or racemic anions. Employing molecular dynamics simulations, a semi-quantitative prediction of the cellulose solubility in ILs with anions of different chirality is obtained based on the hydrogen bond formation.
