A New Tree Quantum Key Agreement Protocol for Secure Multiparty Communication

The Tree Multiparty Quantum Key Agreement Protocol (TMQKAP) is introduced as a novel solution for secure quantum key agreement among multiple participants, specifically tailored for tree topologies. Based on the BB84 protocol, TMQKAP employs hierarchical tree structures and XOR operations to facilitate efficient and secure key generation. Key elements are exchanged among participants in an equitable manner, ensuring that each participant contributes equally to the generation of the shared key. The protocol demonstrates robust security, effectively defending against both external and internal attacks, and achieves a quantum efficiency of 1/2 (N −1), where N is the number of participants. Thorough security analysis and simulations show TMQKAP’s robustness against various attacks while maintaining high efficiency. Additionally, the protocol is readily implementable with current quantum technologies, utilizing single-photon transmission to facilitate secure key distribution.

Authenticated multi-party quantum key agreement protocol based on cluster states

Quantum key agreement (QKA) is an important cryptographic primitive that plays a pivotal role in private communications. Authenticated QKA plays an important role in QKA. In this paper, we propose an authenticated multiparty QKA scheme based on 4-qubit cluster states entanglement swapping. The scheme is divided into two parts, the first part is the quantum identity authentication stage, and the second part is the QKA stage. In the quantum identity authentication stage, the participants determine that the participant communicating with them is the claimed person through mutual authentication, which can avoid the impersonation attack of the eavesdropper Eve. In the QKA phase, the participants adopt a bidirectional transmission structure with the participation of a semi-trusted third party, and based on the entanglement swapping property of the 4-qubit cluster state, the QKA is finally realized. Detailed security analysis shows that the protocol can resist a variety of internal and external attacks, such as participants attack, entangle-measure attack, and so on.

Multiparty Quantum Key Agreement Based on d$d$‐dimensional Bell States

AbstractIn this paper, on the design process of a multiparty quantum key agreement protocol within a ‐dimensional Hilbert space is elaborated upon. A circular‐type multiparty quantum key agreement protocol based on the generalized Bell state is introduced. To enhance security against external attacks, decoy states into the transmission process is incorporated. Transmission sequences of the generalized Bell state and decoy states are passed between participants. The participants then encode their secret information into the corresponding particles. Ultimately, all participants are able to derive the same key. In addition, a combination of ‐dimensional Pauli operators is utilized, making the proposed protocol feasible with current technology. Analysis and protection against intercept‐resend attack, entangle‐measure attack and dishonest participants attacks, demonstrating the feasibility of the protocol in a ‐dimensional Hilbert space. The protocol has certain advantages over other protocols in terms of a comprehensive consideration of security and efficiency.

Authenticated quantum key agreement based on cluster states against collective noise

Quantum key agreement (QKA) is an important branch of quantum cryptography. Particles are easily affected by noise in quantum channel transmission, which provides a cover for eavesdropper Eve to attack maliciously and eventually leads to the protocol failure. In this paper, based on the properties of four-particle cluster states and their entanglement swapping, two authenticated two-party QKA protocols that can resist collective noise (collective-dephasing noise and collective-rotation noise) by using CZ, CNOT, and Pauli operations are designed, respectively. Besides, both parties can authenticate each other’s identities, which makes our protocol more secure. In addition, security analysis shows that these two protocols can resist various attacks from inside and outside, such as participant attacks and entangle-measure attacks.

QAKA: A novel quantum authentication and key agreement (QAKA) protocol using quantum entanglement for secure communication among IoT devices

AbstractThe constant evolution of the Internet of Things (IoT) concept involves the idea that all elements in the global network communication are reachable without the need for human intervention. In this context, the paramount concern is security, aiming to safeguard IoT communication against unauthorized access. According to the analysis, the security of the IoT communication framework relies on traditional cryptographic schemes like the RSA algorithm. Nevertheless, the latest developments in quantum computing and information processing pose a significant threat to these established schemes. Motivated by this fact, in this article, we proposed a novel quantum authentication and key agreement (QAKA) protocol that provides unconditional security against any classical and futuristic quantum threats. Our protocol ensures secure key agreement and mutual authentication based on quantum hashing with quantum passwords and quantum key distribution. The proposed scheme utilizes quantum teleportation and Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states for secure data transfer among entities. Our work is simulated using the Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications tool to prove our protocol's formal correctness and security. The Burrows, Abadi, and Needham logic is applied to prove the goal of our protocol. Random oracle model for formal security analysis is presented in our work. Our protocol is also informally analyzed, considering the characteristics such as correctness, security against repudiation and the impossibility of cloning. The proposed protocol is compared with the related protocols in terms of various security features such as replay attacks, man‐in‐middle attacks and futuristic quantum attacks. Finally, the performance of the proposed protocol is presented, revealing superior efficacy when compared with classical authentication schemes and quantum protocols.

Multipartite quantum key agreement against d-dimensional collective-dephasing noise

In this paper, we introduce a novel model for collective-dephasing noise in [Formula: see text]-dimensional space. After that, we construct a multi-particle entangled state to resist the given collective-dephasing noise. Based on the measurement laws of multi-particle entangled state under two different bases, we propose a multipartite quantum key agreement protocol. In this protocol, multiple participants would obtain [Formula: see text]-dimensional secret key even if the quantum channel is influenced by collective-dephasing noise. The security analysis indicates that this protocol can resist both dishonest participant attack and the outsider attacks which include intercept-resend attack and entangle-measure attack. By comparing with the existing QKA protocols, it is clear that our protocol has greater universality from the perspective of dimensionality and number of participants.

Quantum key agreement (QKA) is an important quantum cryptography primitive. In a QKA protocol, two or more untrusted parties can agree on an identical key in such a way that they equally influence the key and no subset can decide it alone. However, in practical QKA, the imperfections of the participant’s detectors can be exploited to compromise the security and fairness of QKA. To remove all the detector-side-channel loopholes, a measurement-device-independent multi-party QKA protocol is proposed. The protocol exploits the post-selected GHZ states to generate a secure agreement key between legitimate participants, while ensuring the fairness of key agreement. Our protocol provides a new clue for the design of practical QKA protocols.

Improved quantum key agreement protocol with authentication

In order to make the quantum key agreement process immune to participant attacks, it is necessary to introduce the authentication in the communication process. A quantum key agreement protocol with identity authentication that exploits the measurement correlation of six-particle entangled states is proposed. In contrast to some recently proposed quantum key agreement protocols with authentication, this protocol requires neither a semi-trusted third party nor additional private keys in the authentication process. The entire process of authentication and key agreement can be achieved using only n six-particle entangled states, which saves communication costs and reduces the complexity of the authentication process. Finally, security analysis shows that this scheme is resistant to some important attacks.

Loss-tolerant quantum multi-party key agreement without quantum storage.

Quantum key distribution (QKD) and quantum key agreement (QKA) are two main branches of key establishment in quantum cryptography. However, the research of QKA falls far behind that of QKD, especially in practicability. The main reason is that QKA needs to resist not only the outside eavesdropping but also the participant cheating. Resisting dishonest participant is more difficult than resisting outside eavesdropping, especially when the apparatuses are imperfect. Actually, existing QKA protocols cannot tolerate the channel loss and have to rely on stable quantum storage. To solve this problem, we give a new quantum multi-party key agreement protocol based on the error-correcting code. Our protocol is loss tolerant, and the participants can measure the received qubits immediately in one of two conjugate bases, without storage, so our protocol can eliminate the requirement of quantum storage. Besides, our protocol is more fair because it can partially discriminate dishonest participants' cheating from outside eavesdropping (previously, these two attacks are generally checked simultaneously via decoy states but cannot be discriminated), as a result, dishonest participants generally will not cheat at the cost of losing good reputation.

Long distance measurement-device-independent three-party quantum key agreement

Key agreement is a basic cryptographic primitive, which plays an important role in private communications. In this work, we propose a measurement-device-independent three-party quantum key agreement protocol and then analyze its security, which shows that it can guarantee both the security and fairness for key agreement. Furthermore, this protocol is based on Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states while only Bell state measurements and single-particle state measurements are required, and therefore it is experimentally feasible with current technology. More importantly, this protocol can double the space distance between participants for quantum transmission by placing untrusted relays in the middle compared with conventional protocols.
