Comparison of different maturity period to increasing yield and quality of soyabean

Crop physiology is one of the important subjects to understand biological processes and functions. Through the science of crop physiology, it is possible to understand crop growth and development, components of plant yield, and their interactions.The Yukihomare is early flowering variety and takes about 35 days , Tachinagaha variety is medium flowering and takes 40 days, and Fukuyutaka variety is late flowering and takes 56 days from sowing respectively. Yukihomare variety is highest by 100 seed weight for soybean and its weight was measured as 34.2g. Tachinagaha variety is highest by total yield and harvested 1.62 t/ha. Evaluation of Soya Bean Quality for Tofu Processing by near Infrared Spectroscopy

Soya bean, as the raw material for tofu processing, is required to be of high quality. The variety characteristics, storage conditions and harvesting seasons of soya bean are the major contributors to soya bean quality. This study attempted to use near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to evaluate the processing quality of soya bean. Evaluation models using NIR spectroscopy were developed for the analyses of tannin content, degrees of lipid oxidation, detection of harvest seasons and measurement of water absorption rate. Simulation experiments demonstrated that these models were not only able to analyse major compositions of soya bean, but also to sort out soya bean samples and their suitability for tofu making regardless of various defects, such as high tannin content, low water absorption rate, prolonged storage and unfavourable harvest seasons. Statistic analysis suggested that these models could be used as mass-screening techniques for breeding programmes and quality control measures in tofu-processing factories.

Seed quality of soya bean based on mineral composition of seeds of 45 varieties grown in a Brazilian Savanna acid soil

The Brazilian Savannas (Cerrados), a vast area covering one fourth of the country's territory, has acidic soils that are devoid of nutrients and must be amended before cultivation. Mineral disorder on the soya bean crop has been frequent, mainly due to unbalanced liming and fertilization. There is no information on varietal differences and the impact of these practices on the seed quality. Chemical analyses were performed to assess the levels of elements in seed samples of 45 soya bean varieties from an experiment in a partly- and fully-limed acid soil. The levels of phosphorus, potassium, iron, aluminium, manganese, zinc and copper were inversely proportional to the level of liming. Calcium, magnesium, sodium, molybdenum and titanium did not show statistical differences for seed accumulation in the liming levels. There was a high frequency of varieties derived from Al-intolerant parents to increased levels of P, K, Ca and Mg, contrasting with respective lower levels in the leaves. The varietal differences suggest further investigation on the genetics of mineral element accumulation in the soya bean seeds. Aluminium levels varied between 8.7 to 5.5 mg/kg, respectively, for the partly- and the fully-limed soil, indicating that cultivation of soya beans in these acid soils produced little effect on the quality of seeds.

The effect of atmospheric humidity on the yield and quality of soya bean

Soya bean plants (cv. Lee) were grown at high and low atmospheric humiditiees in controlled environments. A constant level watering system ensured an adequate supply of water at all times. Bean yields decreased at the low humidity as a result of a reduction m pod number and thus bean number, which was only partly compensated by a small increase In bean weight The reduction In pod number was related to floret abortion rather than pod abortion, and was possibly a consequence of reduced photosynthate supply. The level of humidity did not affect the protein or oil content of the seed. The lower humidity also reduced the dry weights of stems and total tops and the number of nodes per plant. The humidity level before or after flowering alone did not affect bean yield, but the humidity from the start of flowering onwards did affect the number of beans per plant. The possible significance of the results for soya bean production In the Australian environment is considered.

Effect of inoculation and nitrogen fertilization on nodulation, seed yield and quality of soya beans

SUMMARYSoya beans grown on land planted the previous year with inoculated soya beans produced more nodules, lodging, seed yield, 1000 seed weight, and protein content and less seed oil concentration as compared to those grown on land that was planted with non-inoculated soya beans. Nitrogen fertilization (120kg N/ha) reduced the total number of nodules per plant. Increasing inoculation rates of the seed increased the dry weight of nodules per plant. Location, nitrogen fertilization, and inoculation increased or decreased the levels of certain amino acids but had no significant effect on the sulphur amino acids, cystine and methionine.
