A mixed methods study on continuity and care coordination based on the obstetric near miss approach.

The near-miss approach assumes that mothers facing life-threatening conditions such as severe pre-eclampsia and postpartum haemorrhage share common risk factors. Among these women, those who survive (near-miss cases) can offer insights into the determinants, providing valuable lessons for understanding underlying factors. To investigate elements of continuity and coordination leading to obstetric near misses. A major referral hospital and its referral pathway in Kenya. Explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. Near-miss survivors had lower continuity and coordination of care indices during antenatal visits (COCI = 0.80, p = 0.0026), (modified continuity of care index [MCCI] = 0.62, p = 0.034), and those with non-life-threatening morbidity in the first trimester were more likely to experience a near miss (aOR = 4.34, p = 0.001). Facilities in the western region had a higher burden of near misses compared to the Eastern region. Qualitatively, three deductive themes were identified: sequential coordination, parallel coordination and continuity, along with factors classified as access. In mixed integration, poor continuity indices were explained by quality of interpersonal relationships and woman centredness. Poor coordination was explained by inadequate teamwork between providers in referring and referral facilities and between primary health facilities and the community. Higher near-miss rates in the western region resulted from differences in human and physical resources. Promoting woman-centred care, teamwork, improving communication and introducing innovative coordination roles like case and care managers can enhance continuity and coordination of maternal healthcare. This study contributes to our understanding of the challenges of continuity and coordination in maternal healthcare in resource-poor settings by applying the WHO operationalisation of continuity and coordination using mixed methodology.

The goal in providing counseling services is to provide conditions which can help clients develop psychological strength to evaluate his behavior now, and can get that behavior now and can get behavior more effective. The process of learning to behave effectively is facilitated by creating warm counseling environment and application of various counseling procedures. To achieve this requires quality interpersonal relationships both between counselor and counselee. Counseling as a profession depicted by the counselor's appearance. A professional counselor is a figure who can present himself as a role model. Among competencies counselor, the most important thing is the personal quality of the counselor, because the counselor used as a person who must be able to display his true identity complete, precise and meaningful, and build good interpersonal relationships so that it becomes the driving force for the success of the service. Personal counselor is wrong one of them is an "instrument" that can determine positive results in counseling process, because the core of the therapeutic process in counseling is the relationship built between the counselor and the counselee. So personal qualities counselor is essential for counselors to achieve their goals optimal in the counseling process.

Assessing Temperament Risk Factors in Late Childhood and Early Adolescence: Development and Validation of the Integrative Late Childhood Temperament Inventory.

Childhood temperament has a well-documented influence on later life outcomes, notably behavior problems, quality of interpersonal relationships, and academic achievement. However, there is at present a lack of brief measures that assess temperament characteristics which are represented across models of temperament in the late childhood and early adolescence period. To redress this gap, the aim of the current study was to develop and validate a short questionnaire that extends an earlier integrative measure of temperament, the Integrative Child Temperament Inventory (ICTI) to the late childhood period. The new measure (named Integrative Late Childhood Temperament Inventory, ILCTI) includes all five components of the ICTI (frustration, behavioral inhibition, attention/persistence, activity level, sensory sensitivity), plus affiliation. German- or English-speaking parents rated a total of 525 children, aged 8 to 14years. Confirmatory factor analyses supported the predicted structure of the new measure. Examination of fit indices and psychometric analyses showed that 24 items are sufficient to capture all six dimensions reliably. Next to convergent validity with established measures of temperament and personality, we also present analyses of associations with measures of externalizing problems, internalizing problems, and school failure all of which support the instrument's clinical utility. Thus, despite its brevity, the ILCTI is a reliable and valid measure of late childhood temperament that can be helpful in assessing risk of developing behavior problems or school failure.

Positive effects of speech and language therapy group interventions in primary progressive aphasia: A systematic review.

Primary progressive aphasia (PPA) is a neurodegenerative condition characterised by a prominent and progressive deterioration in language abilities, which significantly impacts quality of life and interpersonal relationships. Speech and language therapy plays a crucial role in offering interventions. Group intervention is one mode of delivery that could benefit communication functioning and overall wellbeing of people with PPA (pwPPA) and their care partners. Group interventions are also more efficient than one-to-one intervention and may facilitate peer support. The aim of this review was to systematically evaluate the current evidence for the effectiveness of speech and language therapy groups for pwPPA and their care partners. Specifically, this paper considered three questions: 1.What evidence-based speech and language therapy groups for pwPPA and their care partners have been reported to date? 2.Are group communication interventions effective in improving quality of life and communication function for pwPPA and their care partners? 3.Are group communication interventions that are designed for people with communication difficulties of other aetiologies (such as stroke) effective for pwPPA? In addition, this review aimed to describe the structure and content of groups, including aims, disciplines involved, size and frequency of group meetings, and outcome measures. MEDLINE, CINAHL and PsycINFO were used to retrieve articles of interest. A total of 10 studies published between 2009 and 2022 met the eligibility criteria and therefore were included in this study. Data were extracted from the articles regarding the structure and content of groups. Although evidence is currently limited, results suggest that speech and language therapy group intervention can improve specific linguistic processes, the use of communication strategies and psychosocial well-being. The importance of multidisciplinary input and care partners' involvement in groups was highlighted, along with the benefits of creative non-verbal activities as tools for self-expression. There is also initial evidence that telehealth group provision and one-off group sessions may be feasible and can benefit psychosocial well-being. Lastly, intentional recruitment and explicit education on different aphasia types are described as important when pwPPA participate in groups with mixed diagnoses. The literature on speech and language therapy group interventions for PPA shows promise of positive effects on communication function and psychosocial well-being of both pwPPA and their care partners. Speech and language therapists can consider these published interventions when designing and implementing similar groups, but more robust evidence is required to confirm the relative effectiveness of this approach. What is already known on this subject Speech pathology led group intervention shows some promise in benefitting communication functioning and overall well-being of pwPPA and their carers, but there has been no systematic evaluation of all the evidence regarding the efficacy of speech and language therapy led groups. Establishing feasibility, acceptability and efficacy of speech and language therapy group interventions for pwPPA and their carers may present a valuable addition for managing this progressive language disability. What this paper adds to existing knowledge Although evidence is currently limited, results from this systematic review suggest that speech and language therapy led group intervention can improve specific linguistic processes, the use of communication strategies and psychosocial well-being for pwPPA and their carers. The effect of school interpersonal relationship quality on adolescent depression: the role of perceived stress and OXTR gene

ABSTRACT Based on ecological systems theory and the genetic and environmental research paradigm, the current study explored the effect of school interpersonal relationship quality (peer and teacher-student) on adolescent depression and the role of perceived stress and the OXTR gene. Based on the statistical power of previous G*E interaction studies, A follow-up survey was conducted with 603 Chinese adolescents (average age = 14.76 ± 0.72 years at the time of the initial measurement; range: 13 to 15) using a questionnaire method (Short Form of the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale, The Chinese version of Perceived Stress Scale, short form of Friendship Quality Questionnaire and Teacher-student Relationship) and DNA typing technique. The study found that (1) school interpersonal relationship quality influenced adolescent depression; (2) perceived stress fully mediated the relationship between school interpersonal relationship quality and adolescent depression; (3) the OXTR gene rs2254298 and rs53576 polymorphisms moderated both the direct pathway and the second half of the indirect pathway. Specifically, individuals carrying the rs2254298 polymorphism A/G genotype and the rs53576 polymorphism A genotype exhibited a significantly enhanced effect of interpersonal relationship quality and perceived stress on adolescent depression, supporting the differential susceptibility model.

A reciprocal association between interpersonal relationship quality and student's positive affect: Athree-wave random intercept cross-lagged study in a Chinese primary mathematics learning context.

This study adopted a three-wave random intercept cross-lagged panel model to explore the longitudinal reciprocal relationships between (a) the teacher-student relationship (TSR) quality and (b) the parent-child relationship (PCR) quality and positive affect among Chinese primary school students. Two primary school student samples, including 3505 and 2505 students, were tracked with their perceived relationship quality with math teachers and parents and their positive affect levels in mathematics learning over three academic years. The results demonstrated that more closeness with parents could significantly predict students' subsequent higher level of positive affect in mathematics learning. However, more closeness with their math teachers did not show significant prediction. Meanwhile, more conflict with math teachers and parents could significantly predict their subsequent lower degree of perceived positive affect in mathematics learning. That is, a reciprocal association lines in the PCR quality and positive affect, whereas only a unidirectional association exists between the TSR and positive affect. The predictions of the experienced positive affect on their perceived interpersonal relationships with math teachers and parents were stronger than those in the reverse association. This study identifies that while the effects of closeness with math teachers and parents on positive affect in students' math learning differ, conflict with math teachers and parents indeed harms students' experienced positive affect in math learning. More attention should also be paid to fostering positive affect in math learning.

The Influence of Emotional Intelligence and Effective Communication on Interpersonal Relationship Quality and Life Satisfaction in Indonesia

This study examines the complex relationships between interpersonal relationship quality (IRQ) and life satisfaction (LS) among people in Indonesia, with a focus on the roles played by emotional intelligence (EI) and effective communication (EC). Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was used as a quantitative method to examine the associations between the variables in a sample of 210 people. The findings show strong and favorable correlations: EC and EI have a positive impact on LS and IRQ. A number of fit indices indicate the structural model's satisfactory fit, and the blindfolding test confirms the model's predictive ability. The results indicate that, in the Indonesian setting, developing emotional intelligence and effective communication skills may lead to improved interpersonal connections and a higher quality of life.

The Influence Of Big Five Personality On Customer Satisfaction With Interpersonal Relationship Quality As A Mediating Variable Among Cooperative Facilitators In The West Kalimantan Province

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of Big Five Personality traits on customer satisfaction, with the quality of interpersonal relationships serving as a mediating variable among cooperative facilitators in West Kalimantan Province. This quantitative study utilized questionnaires for data collection and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Smart PLS software for data analysis. It involved 41 cooperative assistants and 41 targeted cooperatives in West Kalimantan. Employing total sampling, the study aimed to analyze the impact of the Big Five Personality traits on customer satisfaction, with interpersonal relationship quality as a mediating variable among cooperative assistants in West Kalimantan.
  
 This study discovered that the quality of interpersonal relationships has a significant positive correlation with customer satisfaction, with personality dimensions such as Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness contributing positively. Although Openness to Experiences and Neuroticism did not demonstrate statistically significant relationships, this research underscores the importance of understanding the role of interpersonal relationship quality in the context of personality traits to enhance customer satisfaction. This study has significant limitations, including a sample size confined to cooperative assistants in West Kalimantan, reliance on quantitative methods with questionnaires, and the use of Smart PLS statistical software in SEM analysis. Other limitations encompass the potential influence of external factors not captured in the study and constraints in generalizing the results to other contexts. The research outcomes have tangible implications for business. Decision-makers can utilize these insights to enhance strategies and training initiatives, ultimately fostering positive customer experiences. This study examines the Big Five Personality traits. Consumer satisfaction is determined by the extent to which the benefits of a product or service align with consumer expectations. Interpersonal relationship quality mediates the relationship between Big Five Personality traits and consumer satisfaction.

Utilization of the Intimacy and Sexuality Expression Preference tool in long-term care: a case study

IntroductionSexual wellness plays a crucial role in an individual's quality of life, interpersonal relationships, and self-concept, particularly among older adults residing in residential aged care facilities, including those with dementia. However, there is currently a limited person-centered approach to understanding the unique preferences of each older person regarding their intimate and sexual behaviors. To address this gap, the Intimacy and Sexuality Expression Preference (ISEP) tool was developed to facilitate meaningful discussions between healthcare professionals or workers and older individuals about their intimacy and sexuality needs and preferences. This paper explores the use of the ISEP tool with residents in long-term aged care, including those with dementia via a user-centric case study.MethodsISEP tool interviews were conducted with 14 residents in a single residential aged care facility in Queensland, Australia.ResultsThe study presented valuable insights and contextual information from using the ISEP tool, including an example of a resident's response, which provided recommendations for better supporting the resident. This involves engaging in supportive conversations to facilitate the exploration, implementation, and assessment of practical and actionable strategies to meet intimacy and sexuality needs and preferences.DiscussionThe ISEP tool shows promise in improving care practices and addressing the intimacy and sexuality needs of older individuals in aged care facilities. However, it is important to acknowledge that the study was conducted in a single aged care facility with a small group of residents, potentially limiting the generalisability of the findings. Further large-scale studies are necessary to establish the tool's broader applicability across different care settings.

The use of social reality construction theory as an addition to social exchange theory is a significant step towards understanding more deeply the impact of social media on interpersonal communication. Social reality construction theory offers a powerful perspective on how social media can shape individuals' perceptions of the reality around them. In this research, the literature method is used with a focus on reviewing and analyzing literature related to the impact of social media on interpersonal communication. The research aims to conduct a critical review of interpersonal communication theory and analyze how this theory has implications for social relationships in the digital era. This research shows that overall, changes in patterns of social relations that arise as a result of social media can be understood through the lens of social exchange theory. Social media provides a platform for information exchange, support, and social interaction, however, the impact is the emergence of dynamics that can sometimes sacrifice the depth and quality of traditional interpersonal relationships.

Self-processing characteristics from first-person and third-person perspectives in individuals with social anxiety disorder: insights into negative bias.

As one of the most common psychological problems, social anxiety disorder (SAD) has lots of negative effects on the physical and mental development of individuals, such as decreasing the quality of interpersonal relationships, and even causing depression, suicidal ideation, etc., as well as leads individuals to generate mental illness stigma. The mental illness stigma that individuals perceive affects not only how they perceive themselves (first-person perspective) but also how they perceive others' appraisals of them (third-person perspective), which further exacerbates their anxiety symptoms. The study aims to explore the self-processing characteristics of individuals with social anxiety disorder from the first-person perspective and the third-person perspective. This study adopted the self-referential paradigm to conduct the recognition memory test on individuals with social anxiety disorder (30 participants in experiment 1) and individuals without social anxiety disorder (31 participants in experiment 2) in the two experiments. In experiment 1, the recognition rate of individuals with social anxiety disorder under the self-appraisals condition was significantly higher than that under the condition of appraisals on mothers; in the three conditions of self-appraisals, appraisals on mothers and mothers' reflected appraisals, the recognition rate of negative trait adjectives was significantly higher than that of positive trait adjectives. In experiment 2, there was no significant difference in recognition rate of individuals without social anxiety disorder under the three conditions, and the recognition rate of positive trait adjectives was significantly higher than that of negative trait adjectives under the three conditions. Individuals with social anxiety disorder have a negative bias in self-processing and are more likely to focus on self-information, which is different from the self-positive bias of individuals without social anxiety disorder. This study can be beneficial to know the self-cognitive characteristics of individuals with social anxiety disorder, help them get rid of negative cognitive patterns, and remove the mental illness stigma.

Multidimensional social connectedness of sexual and gender minority midlife and older adults: Findings from the National Health, Aging, and Sexuality/Gender Study (NHAS).

This article introduces the multidimensional properties of social connectedness among sexual and gender minority (SGM) midlife and older adults and examines the relationship between these properties and general health. Data were analyzed from Aging With Pride: National, Aging, and Sexuality/Gender Study, including 2,450 SGM adults aged 50 and older in the United States. The structure, function, and quality of interpersonal relations as well as community-level activities and engagement were measured through a self-administered survey and an in-person interview. Findings indicated that SGM midlife and older adults, on average, had a large social network with high bridging potential and low density, consisting of more nonrelative family members than immediate family members. They also showed frequent availability of social support, moderate or higher satisfaction with interpersonal relations, and moderate SGM community engagement. Properties of social connectedness differed by gender, sexual identity, and gender identity, with SGM men, sexually diverse women, and transgender people showing distinct challenges in interpersonal relations. All aspects of social connectedness were positively associated with good general health, particularly network diversity, outdoor leisure activity engagement, and access to health-related decision support, controlling for age and chronic conditions. Care receiving and loneliness were negatively associated with good general health. Intervention development can target these factors to promote social and community connectivity and reduce the negative health effects of persistent social stressors. This study underscores the necessity of addressing all facets (i.e., structure, function, and quality) of interpersonal relations encompassing both immediate and chosen family as well as community-level social connectedness. Decent Work and Burnout: A Profile Study With Academic Personnel.

This research explores the relationship between Decent Work (DW) and Burnout in Portuguese and Brazilian academic personnel. We focus on identifying profiles resulting from the relationship between these variables. Seven hundred twenty-seven participants composed the sample (Portuguese = 334; Brazilian = 393), and data were collected online using the Decent Work Questionnaire (DWQ) and the Personal Burnout subscale from the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI). Results of multiple linear regressions showed that two DW dimensions were significant and negatively related to Burnout: Fundamental Principles and Values at Work and Adequate Working Time and Workload. We found four profiles by performing a cluster analysis: Low Decent Work; High Decent Work; and two other profiles with DW deficit in at least one DW dimension: Low Fundamental Principles and Values at Work and Low Adequate working time and workload. Moreover, 71% of the total sample showed some decent work deficit. Differences between Burnout and the DW dimensions were analyzed through a MANOVA. In our sample, considering the broad dimensions of DW, Burnout seems to be mainly dependent on the deficit of aspects related to the quality of treatment and interpersonal relationships at work (e.g., perceptions of fairness, participation, non-discrimination) as well as the balance of the workload and the adequacy of the working hours. Interventions aiming at improvements must focus on those two dimensions.

To Stay or to Leave: The Role of School, Family, and Prosocial Goals in Migration Intentions of Russian High School Students

Background. Migration intentions are extremely common among modern youth practically all around the globe. They do not always result in actual migration, but they should definitely be considered as an important indicator for the society, since the potential loss of the most valuable human resources entails long-term consequences for the development of a country or region. This study aims to examine the system of psychological factors that determine the desire of young people to stay in their region. It also addresses the previously discovered paradoxical association between migration intentions and subjective well-being. Objective. To analyze the psychological determinants of the intention not to leave the home region, and its association with relationship satisfaction, personal goals, subjective well-being, and academic achievement of high school students. Design. The cross-sectional study design was used. A questionnaire-based survey was conducted among Russian high school students from urban and rural schools (N = 5,635). Results. The study found that the most important psychological predictors of the intention to stay, to study, and work in their home city/region are community contribution goals and psychological factors that characterize the immediate social environment, which include satisfaction with school and teachers, and family support. Controlling for these variables, migration intentions do not correlate with subjective well-being. Conclusion. These findings suggest that considering the quality of interpersonal relationships allows deepening the understanding of migration intentions sources of high school students. The study also contributes to understanding the complex relationship among migration intentions, subjective well-being, and academic achievement.

BIMBINGAN KONSELING INDIVIDUAL UNTUK MEMBANGUN KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL POSITIF MELALUI TIM PSIKOLOG UNIVERSITAS AHMAD DAHLAN YOGYAKARTA

Abstract
 Interpersonal communication can be called interpersonal communication. Interpersonal effectiveness is determined by how the message is conveyed. Positive attitude refers to at least two aspects of interpersonal communication. First, interpersonal communication is fostered if people have a positive attitude towards themselves. Second, positive feelings for the communication situation are essential for effective interaction. Communication quality is establishing and maintaining good interpersonal relationships through communication. Communication is effective when the sender receives and understands the message as intended, followed up with voluntary action by the recipient. It can improve the quality of interpersonal relationships, and there are no obstacles to it. This service is carried out to help several UAD's fair participants (counselees) get an overview of how the communication process effectively achieves its goals. This activity is carried out through individual counseling guidance methods with a team of psychologists at Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta, with an evaluation of filling out a checklist sheet after counseling.

USING INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND SOCIAL NETWORK TO UNDERSTAND ELDER MISTREATMENT RECURRENCE

Abstract The incidence of elder mistreatment are often recurrent rather than one-time. The recurrence of mistreatment contributes to severe physical and psychological problems for victims and negative social consequences. Poor interpersonal relationships and social isolation are the main factors of mistreatment occurrence in the literature. However, very few studies have considered how the quality of interpersonal relationships and the level of social networks affect the likelihood of mistreatment recurrence. We used the National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project waves 1 (2005–06) and 3 (2015–16) data for longitudinal analyses (N=1,592). The quality of interpersonal relationships (i.e., supportive relationship, strained relationship) and the level of social networks (i.e., social engagement, social isolation, and feeling safe in society) were conceptualized using factor analysis to estimate factor scores. Logistic regression models were built to predict the risk of recurrent mistreatment using interpersonal relationship quality and the level of the social networks. Controlling for demographic variables, victims in wave 1 with support from interpersonal relationships are more likely to experience reoccurring mistreatment (p< 0.05, OR=1.58). Model interaction effects indicated that older adults with strained interpersonal relationships and low social engagement are most at risk of experiencing mistreatment recurrence. The surprising finding that supportive interpersonal relationships are positively associated with mistreatment recurrence might indicate that those who support older adults are potential perpetrators. Identifying potential perpetrators and assessing the quality of interpersonal relationships and social networks are essential to preventing mistreatment recurrence.

Virtual connections: a multidisciplinary study on behavior in social networks

This article investigates the impact of social networks on various aspects of contemporary society through a multidisciplinary approach. A theoretical review with a mixed approach was used which, after an evaluation of relevance, led to the identification of 21 articles that make up the research. Exploring the relationship between patterns of social network use and their effect on mental health, it is found that active interaction promotes psychological well-being, while passive consumption is linked to negative feelings such as loneliness and envy. In addition, we examine how these platforms influence identity formation and public opinion, highlighting their role in creating "echo chambers" that can intensify social polarization. It is also noted that while social networks enhance global connectivity, they can compromise the quality of interpersonal relationships. Nevertheless, they facilitate the formation of communities of support and solidarity, particularly in groups with common interests, contributing to community cohesion. This study underlines the duality of social networks as spaces of opportunity and challenge, highlighting the need for a conscious use to foster individual well-being and social cohesion.
