The effect of a low-temperature uniaxial deformation (85 K, along the 〈110〉 or 〈100〉 directions) on the radiative decay of electronic excitations has been studied in pure KBr single crystals doped with sodium ions. As the deformation increases (up to approximately ε≈1.0 %), the X-ray luminescence bands of both, self-trapped excitons (the σ and π emission bands peaked at 4.4 and 2.3 eV, respectively) and exciton-like formations associated with sodium impurity ions increase linearly. In KBr:Na, the recombination formation of bound excitons near single Na+ and pair Na+-Na+ impurity centers leads to luminescence bands at 2.85 and 3.1 eV, respectively.
