Sustainable bonds as a sustainable financial instrument: thematic insights and future prospects

Purpose This study aims to explore the development and significance of sustainable finance instruments, mainly sustainable bonds. The purpose is to provide policymakers, regulators and researchers with insights into the current state of sustainable finance research and also provide future research directions. Design/methodology/approach This study used Scientific Procedures and Rationales for Systematic Literature Reviews as a review protocol and addressed four research questions concerning publication and citation trends, major themes and future research directions in sustainable bonds. Findings This study indicated growing attention in sustainable bond research, with increasing publication and citation trends. Along with identifying research themes, the findings include future direction on pricing and risk assessment, market dynamics and growth potential, policy and regulatory environments and global perspectives with local context. Research limitations/implications Although this study provides a robust analysis of the current literature, it relies on existing publications and may not capture the latest developments in sustainable bond research. However, policymakers can benefit from insights into the growth and dynamics of sustainable bonds, enabling them to implement effective policies and regulations. Investors and businesses can use this research to inform their environmental, social and governance investment strategies and decision-making processes. Originality/value This paper suggests a comprehensive overview of the state of research in sustainable bonds, highlighting the emerging trends and research priorities. It also underlines the significance of sustainable finance in achieving sustainability goals and provides a roadmap for future research.

Bibliometric analysis of microphthalmos and anophthalmos over 20 years: from 2004 to 2023

AIM: To conduct a bibliometric analysis of studies on microphthalmos and anophthalmos (M/A), explore research hotspots, and provide information on future research interests in this field to benefit clinicians and researchers. METHODS: Totally 751 publications related to M/A from the year 2004 to 2023 were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection database. These publications consist of both original and review articles, that are composed in English. The contributions of different countries, institutions, journals, and authors were analyzed, and network analysis was conducted by using Microsoft Excel 2021, VOSviewer, and R Studio to visualize research hotspots. RESULTS: Among all publications included, the highest number of publications came from USA (218, 29.03%). China followed with 99 publications (13.18%), and England with 86 publications (11.45%). The publications from the USA had the highest frequency of citations, with 16 699 citations, and the highest H-index of 49. The American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A (43, 5.73%) published the largest number of papers, and the University of London had the most publications (41, 5.46%). The genetic and molecular mechanisms of M/A were still unclear and the clinical intervention for M/A had gained a lot of attention as an emerging area of interest. CONCLUSION: Data have been gathered on the yearly count of published materials and citations, as well as the rise in publication trends, the efficiency of regions or countries, authors, journals, and organizations, along with the high-cited publications in M/A. The recent trend of research has shifted from genetic mechanisms to different clinical phenotypes and corresponding clinical interventions, which can give direction to future research.

Bibliometric Analysis of Herbal Treatments for Male Infertility: Trends, Efficacy, and Future Directions

Male infertility, which affects approximately 7% of men worldwide, contributes significantly to overall infertility rates. This condition stems from complex genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Conventional treatments, including pharmacological and surgical options, often have limited efficacy and can cause adverse side effects, prompting growing interest in alternative treatments, particularly herbal medicine. This bibliometric analysis investigates trends, efficacy, safety, and future directions in the use of herbal treatments for male infertility. Using Scopus data and Biblioshiny for network visualization, the analysis evaluates publication trends, geographical and institutional contributions, funding sources, and the primary themes addressed in the field up to 2024. Findings indicate increasing research interest, particularly in China, Iran, and India, where traditional medicine systems like Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda are culturally significant. Despite promising results, especially from herbs such as Withania somnifera and Tribulus terrestris, the field lacks standardized formulations and rigorous clinical trials that confirm these remedies’ efficacy and safety. This study highlights the need for standardized methodologies and expanded international collaborations to ensure the global applicability of findings. Further research is essential to integrate these herbal treatments effectively into mainstream medical practices, offering culturally sensitive and scientifically validated treatment options.

Pollen dispersal distance of Brazilian native tree species: a systematic review

Knowledge of the pollen dispersal distance (PDD) is crucial for delimitating the collection radius of subpopulations in seed collection areas used as germplasm sources for genetic breeding, conservation, and restoration projects. Some studies have reported the PDD of trees, but these are scattered throughout the literature. Therefore, the objective of this study was to systematically review and report as many PDDs as possible found in the literature on native Brazilian tree species. In the present study, we identified the most and least studied species, temporal trends in publications, geographic distribution of studies, mating systems, and pollinator types for each species. A systematic review protocol was established, and the search criteria were improved, resulting in 543 articles. Forty-four articles contained information on native species, and 319 PDD from 41 tree species were extracted. The most investigated species for pollen dispersal were Cariniana estrellensis (Raddi) Kuntze (Jequitibá-branco) and Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze (Araucária). The PDD values ranged from 9 m to 5229 m, averaging 543.9273 m. The five species with the highest average PDDs were Centrolobium tomentosum Guill. ex Benth. (Araribá), Swietenia macrophylla King (Mogno-brasileiro), Hymenaea courbaril L. (Jatobá), Dipteryx alata Vogel (Baru) and Hymenaea stigonocarpa Mart. Ex-Hayne (Jatobá do Cerrado) at 3191 m, 1472 m, 1450 m, 1215.12 m, and 1086.81 m, respectively. Theobroma cacao L. and Ilex paraguariensis A.St.-Hil. had the shortest PDDs averages at 28 m and 15.9 m, respectively. This work provides a valuable PDD database that will expand the possibilities for new research and guide projects related to seed collection, forest restoration, germplasm conservation, and genetic breeding of native Brazilian trees.

Management information systems and organizational agility: a bibliometric analysis

Purpose This paper aims to complex relationship between management information systems (MIS) and organizational agility, identifying gaps and key themes to guide future research in this domain. Design/methodology/approach A systematic extraction of 578 relevant articles from the Scopus database was conducted to provide an in-depth bibliometric analysis of the evolving role of MIS in enhancing organizational agility. Data analysis and visualization were performed using R Studio and VOSviewer. Findings The analysis highlights significant publication trends and identifies leading countries, institutions and journals in MIS and organizational agility research. Collaborative efforts from nations such as the USA, China and the UK, were prominent, focusing on information technology alignment, strategic agility and big data analytics. This study delineates distinct research clusters and future research questions, offering a clear trajectory for ongoing exploration in the field. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is one of the first to provide a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the intersection between MIS and organizational agility. It offers valuable insights into research trends and future directions while emphasizing the need for MIS deployment, thereby contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the field.

Anatolia – unveiling its multidisciplinary landscape and future orientations

ABSTRACT Using methods such as Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and content analysis, this paper does a comprehensive analysis of Anatolia‘s contributions to tourism and hospitality research over the last 27 years, analyzing publishing trends, regional distribution, and topic evolution. The results show a significant increase in worldwide contributions, covering 92 nations, and an interdisciplinary strategy in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) 11. Important subject clusters are identified by the study, underscoring the journal’s growing influence and its part in determining the course of future research. Through the identification of emergent topics, the study highlights Anatolia‘s engagement in varied topics and offers a strategic framework for future research.

Sport spectator well-being: a scoping review

ABSTRACT A clear understanding of sport consumer well-being is central to enriching research on the interaction between sport organizations and consumers, and more tangibly, to advancing public policy. This research offers a scoping review of existing studies on the well-being of sport spectators, resulting in the formulation of a Sport Spectator Well-being Process Model designed to direct future research endeavors. The review includes 76 peer-reviewed articles comprising reviews, qualitative and quantitative studies. A dual approach of frequency and thematic analysis was utilized to synthesize the findings. The frequency analysis highlighted an increasing trend in relevant publications over time, and the thematic analysis informed the development of a conceptual model of the four key stages of the sport spectator well-being process. The review also identified three significant research gaps: (1) the narrow scope of research contexts, (2) a limited range of theoretical frameworks employed and (3) challenges in research methodology. The findings significantly contribute to the transformative sport service research by integrating positive psychology concepts into the discourse on sport spectator well-being. The conceptual model is vital for researchers exploring the intricate relationship between sport spectatorship and spectator well-being, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of this significant topic.

Challenges and Opportunities

In this article, the authors consider the future possibility of public administration in South Africa being transformed by artificial intelligence (AI). It discusses the difficulties and advantages of AI/ML in this set up. They can use artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the productivity of the public sector, quality in decision, and contribute to people's participation. The results show that AI can reduce paperwork, anticipate public health trends, make recommendations for people to get the best chance of recovery, and even optimise resource allocation – all with a view towards improving service delivery and governance. Problems with infrastructure, gaps in digital access, as well as scarcity of AI expertise within the public service work against any real integration of artificial intelligence. The study underscores the significance of strategic planning, large-scale infrastructural investments, and robust policy reforms in order to harness the full range of benefits from artificial intelligence (AI) with a fair share accruing to all.

Mindfulness at Work: A Bibliometric Analysis of Key Authors, Themes, and Trends

Background: Mindfulness in the workplace has gained significant attention for its potential to enhance well-being, reduce stress, and improve productivity. As interest in workplace mindfulness has grown, a need arises to systematically analyze the influential studies, key authors, themes, and trends shaping this field. Objectives: This study aims to map the intellectual landscape of "mindfulness at work" through a bibliometric analysis, identifying key contributions, collaboration networks, thematic clusters, and publication trends over time. Methods: Utilizing data from Lens.org, we conducted a bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer and WordSift tools to examine co-authorship, keyword co-occurrence, and citation networks, as well as keyword frequency and thematic trends. Findings: The analysis identifies central figures such as Jochen Reb and Christopher J. Lyddy and highlights prominent themes including well-being, stress management, and engagement, with a peak in publication interest around 2019. The study also reveals isolated research clusters, suggesting limited interdisciplinary integration within the field. Conclusion: While mindfulness research at work is growing, opportunities exist for deeper cross-disciplinary collaboration and broader integration of themes. Novelty: This study provides a comprehensive overview of the field’s development, offering insights into emerging trends, key influencers, and areas for future exploration, making it a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers interested in advancing workplace mindfulness.

Research trends and foci in chondrosarcoma: A bibliometric and network analysis.

Chondrosarcoma is 1 of the most common malignant bone tumors, with dedicated research being conducted by scientists worldwide. The purpose of this study was to guide researchers in identifying valuable scholars, institutions, and countries, provide recommendations for journal submissions, and explore research trends and hotspots in chondrosarcoma studies through literature analysis. Data for this study were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection website. The R package bibliometrix was utilized for citation metrics analysis, VOSviewer for network analysis, and CiteSpace for generating keywords citation burst maps. The analysis focused on publications from 2000 to 2023, identifying trends, authorship patterns, and collaboration networks. A total of 2085 articles were initially identified, but after excluding non-English articles and those outside the study's time range, 2022 articles were included. The field comprised 9954 author records, with an average of 6.37 coauthors per document and 13.9% international co-authorships. Publications in chondrosarcoma research have shown an average annual growth rate of 3.9%. The most influential author identified was Tang Chih-Hsin from China Medical University. Significant contributions came from China Medical University and Leiden University, with China showing a dramatic increase in publications while the United States maintained a leading position in the field. The study highlights an increasing trend in chondrosarcoma research publications and identifies key contributors and institutions. Cancer emerged as 1 of the most influential journals in the field. Future research is likely to focus on targeted therapy for refractory chondrosarcomas, indicating a potential new hotspot in the ongoing efforts to understand and treat this malignancy.

Mapping the Scientific Shreds on Barriers to SMEs’ Innovation

The present study aims to showcase the vital contributions to innovation barriers in the context of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for 1975–2022. With the help of VOSviewer, this bibliometric analysis employs a quantitative method based on documents retrieved from SCOPUS database to assess historical patterns, results and the key elements affecting open innovation in SMEs. The results show an upward trend of research publications in the totality of the 222 documents contributed by 160 authors from 59 countries. The majority of research was conducted in developed countries. Findings also reveal the most cited research articles, keyword analysis, country collaboration and the number of documents published yearly. Language bias may occur as this bibliometric study only included literature written in a single language. Consequently, studies released in other languages may go unnoticed. This study is helpful for policymakers to provide a conducive environment for innovation among SMEs to keep economic growth on priority. This study offers the first comprehensive assessment of innovation barriers in a holistic manner. With the help of bibliometric analysis, the study assesses the intellectual framework of open innovation in SMEs.

A Comprehensive Systematic Scoping Review of Self-Driving Vehicle Models

Self-driving vehicles (SDVs), also known as autonomous vehicles (AVs), are anticipated to revolutionize transportation by operating independently through the integration of machine learning algorithms, advanced processing units, and sensor networks. Numerous organizations globally are actively developing SDV models, prompting this paper’s objective to identify emerging trends and patterns in SDV development through a comprehensive systematic scoping review (SSR). This research involved selecting 85 relevant studies from an initial set of 551 records across multiple academic databases, utilizing well-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria along with snowballing techniques to ensure a thorough analysis. The findings emphasize critical technical specifications required for both full-scale and miniature SDV models, focusing on key software and hardware architectures, essential sensors, and primary suppliers. Additionally, the analysis explores publication trends, including publisher and venue distribution, authors’ affiliations, and the most active countries in SDV research. This work aims to guide researchers in designing their SDV models by identifying key challenges and exploring opportunities likely to shape future research and development in autonomous vehicle technology.

A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE ON DIGITAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Objective: This study aims to comprehensively review digital entrepreneurship (DE) research, identifying key themes, trends, and future research directions. Theoretical Framework: The review draws upon frameworks including entrepreneurial ecosystem theory, digital platform theory, and theories of entrepreneurial intention formation to understand DE dynamics. Method: A systematic and bibliometric analysis of 276 English-language articles published between 2000 and 2023 from the Scopus database was conducted. VOSviewer software analyzed publication trends, keywords, and citations. Results and Discussion: DE research has significantly grown, particularly in the last five years. Five thematic clusters emerged: DE ecosystems, cultivating digital entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship in the digital economy, exploring new frontiers, and sustainable, competitive digital enterprises. The study highlights influential works and emerging areas such as digital platforms, entrepreneurial intention, and DE education. The discussion contextualizes these findings within the theoretical frameworks and their implications. Research Implications: This research provides valuable insights for researchers, educators, and policymakers. It emphasizes the need for further research on the impact of digital technologies on entrepreneurial ecosystems, individual entrepreneurial intentions, and the role of education in fostering DE. Originality/Value: This study contributes by offering a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of DE research, identifying knowledge gaps, and proposing a future research agenda. The systematic approach utilizing bibliometric techniques provides a robust analysis of the DE literature, enhancing understanding of this evolving field.

Occupational Therapy Research Publications From 2001 to 2020 in PubMed: Trends and Comparative Analysis with Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.

A limited understanding of trends in occupational therapy (OT) research publications exists. This study aimed to evaluate trends in OT research publications, in PubMed (2001-2020), compared to physiotherapy and rehabilitation. A method of secondary analysis of publication trends in the PubMed database was used. Medical subject headings for OT, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation were combined with search filters (e.g., population age, study design, and OT practice area). Linear regressions were computed to analyze changes in yearly growth. OT research publications increased by 5.86 per year and comprised less than 2.5% of rehabilitation research publications yearly. Knowledge synthesis was the predominant OT study design (2.94% yearly increase; p < .001). Intellectual/cognitive conditions and emergent practice areas in OT research publications increased over time (both p = .007). OT research publications were relatively evenly distributed across population age. OT research publications are increasing over time but lag relative to physiotherapy and rehabilitation broadly. Our findings may inform future OT research priorities.

Exploring the Impact of Chitosan-Based Nanoparticles in Cancer Targeted Drug Delivery: A Bibliometric Review.

Over the last two decades, there has been a considerable increase in the usage of chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs) for drug delivery applications in cancer treatment. However, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of this emerging field is lacking. The current analysis pre-sents a detailed bibliometric assessment of the research evolution and trends in CSNPs for can-cer targeted-drug delivery from 2000 to 2022. A total of 626 publications from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database were evaluated using VOSviewer, Bibliometrix, and MS Excel. An in-depth exploration was carried out to find publication trends, the most productive authors, affiliations, countries, and journals as well as the highly cited publications within this particular research domain. Ick Chan Kwon was the most prominent author who made significant contributions to this field. China was the leading country in terms of research on CSNPs for cancer-targeted drug delivery, followed by India and Iran. Concerning the total number of publications, The International Journal of Biological Macromolecules excelled as the leading journal in this research area. Furthermore, the research trends and hotspots were also identified through the analysis of the most commonly used keywords by the authors. Our analysis highlights the growing research interest in CSNPs for cancer drug delivery, emphasiz-ing the need for further exploration to unlock their full potential.

Electroencephalography-Based Brain-Computer Interfaces in Rehabilitation: A Bibliometric Analysis (2013–2023)

EEG-based Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) have gained significant attention in rehabilitation due to their non-invasive, accessible ability to capture brain activity and restore neurological functions in patients with conditions such as stroke and spinal cord injuries. This study offers a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of global EEG-based BCI research in rehabilitation from 2013 to 2023. It focuses on primary research and review articles addressing technological innovations, effectiveness, and system advancements in clinical rehabilitation. Data were sourced from databases like Web of Science, and bibliometric tools (bibliometrix R) were used to analyze publication trends, geographic distribution, keyword co-occurrences, and collaboration networks. The results reveal a rapid increase in EEG-BCI research, peaking in 2022, with a primary focus on motor and sensory rehabilitation. EEG remains the most commonly used method, with significant contributions from Asia, Europe, and North America. Additionally, there is growing interest in applying BCIs to mental health, as well as integrating artificial intelligence (AI), particularly machine learning, to enhance system accuracy and adaptability. However, challenges remain, such as system inefficiencies and slow learning curves. These could be addressed by incorporating multi-modal approaches and advanced neuroimaging technologies. Further research is needed to validate the applicability of EEG-BCI advancements in both cognitive and motor rehabilitation, especially considering the high global prevalence of cerebrovascular diseases. To advance the field, expanding global participation, particularly in underrepresented regions like Latin America, is essential. Improving system efficiency through multi-modal approaches and AI integration is also critical. Ethical considerations, including data privacy, transparency, and equitable access to BCI technologies, must be prioritized to ensure the inclusive development and use of these technologies across diverse socioeconomic groups.

Managerial Challenges in Implementing European Rail Traffic Management System, Remote Train Control, and Automatic Train Operation: A Literature Review

This paper explores the management of digitalization projects within the railway industry. It aims to increase and understand the opportunities presented by digitalization and automation in rail operations. Employing a scoping review methodology, this research investigates the execution of European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), remote train control (RTC), and automatic train operation (ATO) projects spanning from 2005 to 2023, with a particular emphasis on metro automation, the remote control of freight and passenger trains, fully automated trains, and highly assisted driving. The refined selection process yielded 30 papers. The analysis of the retrieved papers identified managerial issues, with stakeholder management, change management, and organizational management emerging as recurring themes. Despite the increasing trend in publications, the limited representation managerial issues in ERTMS, RTC, and ATO projects in scientific research persists, with implications for the industry’s advancement. This research sheds light on the critical intersection of change management and digitalization within the railway industry by showing the impact of ERTMS, RTC, and ATO on organizational and scope dynamics. The need for human-centered systems is highlighted, showing the necessity of involving every echelon of the organization in the change management process. These findings provide insights for practitioners, researchers, and policymakers, emphasizing the need for understanding and addressing managerial aspects for successful and sustainable digitalization implementations.

Evolving Computer Science Education Research in Teaching and Learning: A Bibliometric Analysis

This study performed a bibliometric analysis of computer science education (CSE) publications in teaching and learning. The research trend in computer science education was analysed using publications from the Scopus-indexed database between 1970 and 2021. This study aims to summarize this information to assist three groups of stakeholders: educators, researchers and policymakers. Our review goal to document and analyse the trends in CSE research publications for teaching and learning. A total of 800 publications were derived for further assessment based on computer science education in the article title with multiple tools. We used, Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer and Harzing’s Publish or Perish were utilized for frequency analysis data visualization and citation metrics and assessment. The study outcomes were documented with standard bibliometric indicators: publication growth, authorship trends, collaboration, prolific authors, national contribution, most active establishments, top-cited articles, preferred journals, intellectual structure and topical trends. Resultantly, CSE research publications have perpetually grown for the past 51 years since 1970 with the United States highlighting the largest study contributor, followed by Germany and the United Kingdom. The ACM SIGCSE Bulletin published the highest number of CSE research publications. The analysis of the cluster on topical trends indicates that curriculum design and implementation (e.g., assessment, broadening participation), elements of teaching and learning (e.g., constructivism, e-learning, game-based learning) and other areas of interest comprise pedagogical approach (e.g., computational thinking, k-12 education, motivation). Based on the research results, we expand on the findings and propose how authors might enhance the CSE function in curriculum design, implementation and shifts could eventually substitute past study clusters.

Trends and inequalities in the use of deworming medication during pregnancy in Sierra Leone, 2008–2019

BackgroundIntestinal worm infections are a significant public health concern for pregnant women in low- and middle-income countries. These infections can lead to anaemia, malnutrition, and adverse pregnancy outcomes, including premature birth and low birth weight. Deworming medication during pregnancy is a safe and effective strategy to prevent these complications and improve maternal and child health. This study aims to investigate the trends and inequalities in the use of deworming medication during pregnancy among women in Sierra Leone between 2008 and 2019.MethodsThe study utilised data from the Sierra Leone Demographic Health Surveys conducted in 2008, 2013, and 2019. We used the Health Equity Assessment Toolkit developed by the World Health Organisation to calculate various measures of inequality, including difference, ratio, population attributable risk, and population attributable fraction. An inequality assessment was conducted for five stratifiers: age, economic status, level of education, place of residence, and sub-national province.ResultsThe prevalence of deworming medication during pregnancy was 43.8% in 2008, 72.4% in 2013, and 83.5% in 2019 in Sierra Leone. There was a decrease in age-related inequality from a difference of 3.7% in 2008 to −0.8% in 2019. Economic-related inequality increased from a difference of −8.5% in 2008 to −8.2% in 2019. Both population attributable fraction and population attributable risk were zero in all survey years for economic status, indicating no improvement in the setting average without economic-related inequality. Inequality in education increased from a difference of -8.9% in 2008 to −8.4% in 2019 and decreased from a difference of −2.6% in 2008 to –5.5% in 2019 for place of residence. Provincial inequality decreased from a difference of 29.5% in 2008 to 11.8% in 2019. The population attributable risk for province reveals that the setting average could have been 10.5 percentage points lower in 2008, 8.2 percentage points lower in 2013, and 5.9 percentage points lower in 2019 without provincial inequality.ConclusionThe prevalence of deworming medication use during pregnancy substantially increased from 2008 to 2019 (43.8% to 83.5%) in Sierra Leone. This suggests a positive public health trend in maternal healthcare access and education. Inequalities related to economic status and education increased slightly while age-related, place of residence and provincial inequalities decreased. This indicates an inequitable distribution of this essential healthcare intervention across these stratifiers. The government and policymakers should continue efforts to raise awareness and promote the use of deworming medication during pregnancy.

Energy Storage in Carbon Fiber-Based Batteries: Trends and Future Perspectives

Carbon fiber-based batteries, integrating energy storage with structural functionality, are emerging as a key innovation in the transition toward energy sustainability. Offering significant potential for lighter and more efficient designs, these advanced battery systems are increasingly gaining ground. Through a bibliometric analysis of scientific literature, the study identifies three primary research areas: (i) the development of anodes for lithium-ion batteries, tackling challenges such as dendrite formation and performance degradation; (ii) the creation of new carbon fiber-based cathodes with coatings of LiFePO4, LiCoO2, or other nanoparticles, alongside efforts to develop cobalt-free alternatives; and (iii) the advancement of solid electrolytes that achieve a balance between ionic conductivity and mechanical strength. These advancements position carbon fiber-based batteries as promising solutions for seamless integration into various structural applications.
