The Development of English Public Speaking Teaching Material Based on Interpersonal Intelligence for Fifth Semester Students of English Education Department of Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah

This research aimed to describe the development, the validity, and the effectiveness of English public speaking based on interpersonal intelligence to overcome the difficulties. The method of this research was mixed qualitative and quantitative description research with test and questionnaire to collect the data. The object of this research was the 5A semester students at University of Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah. This research was carried out for 2 months. During this research the researcher found that public speaking material based on interpersonal intelligence can improve students’ public speaking ability in terms of self- confidence, mastering the topic, delivering the messages or ideas through verbal and non-verbal. The development material will make it easier for lecturer to teach public speaking and also be able to connect well between students and lecturer. Based on the research conducted, the result is the learning tools and the media developed are feasible to be used and applied in the learning process in the classroom with the final validation from material expert 87% and media expert 92,5%. Besides, the effectiveness of the learning method applied in this research shows the results of the calculation is 75% effective

The Influence of Learning Style and Public Speaking Ability on Students' Interest in Learning in Islamic Religious Education Subjects at SMP Negeri 12 Gorontalo

The learning style is a unique characteristic possessed by every individual, influencing how they absorb, organize, and process information. When students are able to learn in a manner that aligns with their individual learning preferences, it facilitates a greater comprehension of the subject matter and fosters a heightened enthusiasm for the learning process. The objective of this study is to examine the impact of different learning styles on students' level of interest in learning PAI subjects at SMP Negeri 12 Gorontalo. 2) Understanding the Impact of Public Speaking Skills on Students' Engagement in Learning PAI Subjects at SMP Negeri 12 Gorontalo. 3) Understanding the Impact of Learning Style and Public Speaking Ability on Students' Interest in Learning in PAI Subjects at SMP Negeri 12 Gorontalo. The research methodology employed is quantitative in nature, utilizing a survey-based approach and employing various data collection techniques such as questionnaires and observation documentation. According to the research findings, it has been observed that there is a correlation between one's learning style and their level of interest in the learning process. These findings are supported by the t test result of 0.000, indicating a significance level of less than 0.05. Additionally, the calculated t value of 5.556 exceeds the critical t value of 0.677 from the t table. Therefore, it can be inferred that H1 is accepted, indicating a correlation between learning style and interest in learning. 2) The ability to speak publicly has an impact on one's level of interest in learning. These findings are supported by the t-test result of 0.000, indicating a significance level of less than 0.05. Additionally, the calculated t-value of 7.525 exceeds the critical t-value of 0.677. Therefore, it can be inferred that H2 is accepted, indicating a correlation between public speaking ability and interest in learning. 3) The interest in learning of students can be influenced by their learning style and public speaking abilities. The evidence for this is supported by the f test results of 0.000, which is greater than the significance level of 0.05. Additionally, the calculated f value of 34.299 exceeds the critical f table value of 3.12. Therefore, it can be inferred that H3 is accepted, indicating a correlation between learning style and public speaking ability with interest in learning.

Strategies and Techniques for Building Confidence When Public Speaking for Beginners

In this era, public speaking ability is a skill that a person must have. This ability is needed in academics, business, and other worlds. Strategies for Anticipating Speech Production Errors in the Public Speaking Context: Psycholinguistic Analysis and Improving Public Speaking Ability

This research explores and analyzes various aspects related to public speaking and speech production errors in real life contexts. Through a literature review, this research explains the types of speech production errors, their causes, and strategies to anticipate these errors. This research also links speech production errors with public speaking, highlighting the importance of psycholinguistic understanding in this regard. The research results show that anticipating speech production errors is the key to improving public speaking skills. Anticipation strategies include preparing the topic well, maintaining composure, focusing, and using familiar vocabulary. Speech production errors can disrupt the flow of a presentation, so a deep understanding of these aspects is very important in public speaking.

Analysis of Zilvia Iskandar's Public Speaking Skills in The 2024 Vice Presidential Debate

This study was titled to find out the public speaking ability of Moderator Zilvia Iskandar at the 2024 vice presidential candidate debate forum. The object of this study is the moderator's public speaking ability in the debate forum Candidate for vice presiddn 2024, the research method used is a qualitative method using a case study approach. The data collection techniques used by the authors in this study are interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The theory used in this study by Charles Henry is a speech technique, because basically a moderator also uses the speech techniques of Charles Henry's theory from modern rhetoric, using modern rhetoric aimed at developing effective communication skills. In a variety of situations, including public speech, debate, persuasive writing and interpersonal communication using force can be a follow-up study. The result of this study is the ability of public speaking to an influential moderator to conduct events, and can influence the audience to follow the moderator's directions, so that messages delivered by a moderator can be received by the listener. And from the research that's been done that public speaking as a whole is very good, everyone has characteristics in its speech delivery.

STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI DALAM MENINGKATKAN PUBLIC SPEAKING PADA KARYAWAN ALFADH PARFUM

This research investigates effective communication strategies in improving the public speaking skills of Alfadh Parfum employees. In the competitive business world, public speaking ability is a very important skill for companies like Alfadh Parfum. This study uses a qualitative and quantitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews and structured surveys from employees who took part in the company's public speaking training program. The research results show that an integrated approach involving intensive training, simulation practice sessions, and direct feedback from trainers and colleagues is very effective in improving public speaking skills. Additionally, the implementation of communications technology such as video conferencing platforms enables remote training, allowing employees to participate without geographic restrictions. This approach not only helps overcome public speaking anxiety but also strengthens self-confidence and the ability to convey messages clearly. This research underlines the importance of targeted and integrated communication strategies in improving public speaking, producing Alfadh Parfum employees who are more confident, effective and charming in communicating with various parties, which ultimately improves the company's reputation.

Correlation Between English Learning Motivation And Public Speaking Ability

This study is intended to determine the extent of correlation between English learning motivation and public speaking ability. The design used is Correlation analysis by using Simple Linear Regression. The participants of the study were 30 students of English Education Study program of IAIN Palangka Raya who joined Speaking class and who used the questionnaire. The data were collected from 4 April to 8 May September 2023. The result of the study shows that the data above is stated to be correlated. Variable X to Variable Y has a correlation. With the degree of relationship, namely 0.70 and the form of the relationship is positive.

The Relationship between Self-Confidence and Public Speaking Ability of Students of the Faculty of Education Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta

This research was conducted at the Faculty of Psychology, Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between self-confidence and the ability to speak in public (Public Speaking). The population in this study were students with characteristics including students of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta, Class of 2002, 2003, 2004 (Semester III, V, VII), and Male and Female Students. The sampling technique used was Cluster randon sampling, namely students of the Faculty of Education semester V and semester VII of Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta while the remaining one semester, namely third semester students were sampled during the trial. The data analysis technique used in this study is Pearson's Product moment correlation. The results showed that there is a very significant positive relationship between self-confidence and public speaking ability, meaning that the higher the self-confidence, the higher the ability to speak in public while the lower the self-confidence, the lower the ability to speak in public.

Student’s Public Speaking Ability Through Presentation Task

This study attempts to describe the ability of speaking skill as oral communication in public by giving the task of individual presentation performance. This study addresses to the result of speaking course as a part of Intermediate English subject. It was conducted to Renewable Energy Engineering students in the academic year of 2022-2023 as well as their main objective of English Study. The researcher is interested to have the data of public speaking achievement because the importance of public speaking skill regarding inability of students to speak in public or perform oral presentation. When all oral presentations are marked as evidence that students' speaking abilities could meet the needs of the industry, this has become more difficult. Unfortunately, graduates nowadays do not possess the degree of oral presenting abilities that are fulfil the demand of stake holder. In this research, the research study is designed as descriptive quantitative research to have the data of students public speaking ability and describe their performance. The researcher used random sampling and Task based Test instrument to have the data of student public speaking ability and also observation to have the data of student public speaking performance. The research finding would be included of the student performance and the task result by speaking rubric which is included the speaking skill components. The results of research showed that by giving presentation task, it has good level for students’ public speaking ability and the result of presentation task builds the Renewable Energy Engineering student’s confidence to perform public speaking.

Public Administration Study Program Needs for Public Speaking Ability in English to Improve Graduate Quality

This study aims to find the needs of the Public Administration Study Program related to Public Speaking to prepare graduates who are competent in speaking in public using English as a provision to face the global era. There is a desire and hope that graduates of the Public Administration Study Program have global competitiveness in addition to science related to administration. To maximize the potential of the next candidate for Public Administration graduates, a material design is needed to improve Public Speaking skills by first analyzing the Public Speaking skill needs that are most needed by the study program. This study analyzes the needs of expected materials from a semi-structured interview with the Head of the Public Administration Study Program. The results of the research show that the Public Administration study program wants to focus on learning objectives on improving communication skills based on the future job needs of graduates seen through tracer studies.

Peran Kegiatan OSIS Dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Public Speaking Siswa MAN 1 MUBA

This study discusses "The Role of OSIS Activities in Improving Public Speaking Ability of MAN 1 Muba Students". The background of this research is due to the decrease in public speaking ability experienced by students of MAN 1 Muba which hinders students from presenting themselves in the school environment and outside of school. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of OSIS activities in improving the public speaking skills of MAN 1 MUBA students. The theory used in this research is Aristotle's Retrometric Theory and Da'wah Communication Accommodation Theory. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used in this study were documentation, interviews and observation techniques. Sources of research data were obtained through primary data obtained through observations and interviews conducted at MAN 1 MUBA, and secondary data obtained through websites, books, journals and other references related to the object of research, then analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques. The results of this study stated that the MAN 1 MUBA Student Council as a whole could carry out its role well through Public Speaking activities which had honed students' communication skills.

A Narrative Inquiry of Student’s Public Speaking Ability by Bilingual (English & Arabic) at Boarding School of the Al-Mashduqiyah Kraksaan

A narrative inquiry of students' public speaking, ability using bilingual, English, and Arabic. This research aims to explore the story of the experience of public speaking, students during students studying at Al-Mashduqiyah. More specifically, the study aimed to understand the difficulties and coping strategies that students face when speaking in public using a foreign language. The method used by the qualitative approach is narrative inquiry. A Junior High student participated in the study. To collect data valid information researcher use questionnaires, interviews, dairy, and documentation obtained from participants and a teacher. As a result, this narrative investigation shows the problems of public speaking in two languages, individual factors, and implementing them into public speaking. To overcome difficulties in public speaking, participants apply strategies with repetition and habituation. This study shows that the mastery of language, accent, and manner of delivery is important because it affects the audience's understanding of the communication.

Role of Influencer Academy's Content Creator Class in Improving High School Students' Public Speaking Ability

This research is entitled Analysis of Public Speaking Training for Teenagers – Case Study of Content Creator Influencer Academy Class Participants. The problems in this study are (1) What is the motivation of participants to take the Content Creator Influencer Academy Class? (2) How is the students' understanding of public speaking? (3) What are the factors that influence Content Creator class participants in doing public speaking? The purposes of this study are (1) to determine the motivation of participants to take part in the Content Creator Influencer Academy class, (2) to determine the understanding of the content creator class participants in public speaking, and (3) to determine the factors that influence the content creator class participants in doing public speaking. This research uses qualitative research methods using a case study approach. The results of this study indicate that participants have various motivations to take Content Creator classes ranging from awareness of responsibility for the information conveyed, wanting to hone skills to be part of the television world to wanting to explore the opportunities promised by social media. Participants already have a basic understanding of public speaking skills since school, but their understanding is increasing when they take this Content Creator – Influencer Academy class. Some factors influence participants when doing public speaking. These factors are divided into 2, namely internal and external factors.

Pengaruh Self Efficacy Terhadap Kemampuan Public Speaking Mahasiswa

Public Speaking ability is an ability that everyone must have, especially for a student. Public Speaking Ability is the ability of an individual to speak well and confidently to others. This study aims to determine: (1) does Self Efficacy have an influence on public speaking ability in 2021 Communication Science students of Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta, (2), How does Self Efficacy influence the public speaking ability of 2021 Communication Science students of Communication Science Faculty of UMBY. This study uses a quantitative method with the research subject, namely students of Communication Science, Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta class of 2021. Quantitative research method, which looks for the relationship between the two variables. The research data were obtained from the results of distributing questionnaires to 110 communication science students. The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS software. The results showed thatn 33.8% of Public Speaking variables can be explained and influenced by independent variables X1, X2, X3, and X4, while the remaining 66.2% are influenced by other variables that have not been studied.

The Effect of Expressive Writing Therapy to Improve Students' Public Speaking Ability in Front of the Class

This research was conducted to assist students in improving their public speaking skills with group guidance services using expressive writing therapy techniques. This study uses a quantitative experimental method. The total population is 275 students with population characteristics aged 15-17 at SMAN 1 Baros. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and got 10 students who had a low level of public speaking ability which were then given treatment. The analysis technique used in testing the hypothesis is the Wilcoxon signed ranks test. The results of the study were seen from the implementation of the pre-test and post-test, there was a significant increase from the average value of 66.2 to 104.2. Analysis of the Wilcoxon signed ranks test on the hypothesis decision making process, the value of 0.005 is lower than 0.05, so it can be concluded that the hypothesis is declared accepted. Thus statistically it can be concluded that group counseling with expressive writing therapy techniques can influence students' public speaking skills.

THE RESEARCH OF FACTORS AFFECTING PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS OF HIGH-QUALITY ENGLISH STUDIED STUDENT AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY, VIETNAM

The purpose of the study is to find out the factors affecting the public speaking skills of 45th cohort students majoring in high-quality English and make recommendations to improve and enhance the public speaking ability of EFL students from High-quality English Studies Program. The study participants included 86 high-quality English language third-year students. We used questionnaires to collect data and used SPSS statistical software to analyze data by descriptive statistical method. Research results show that students' ability to speak in public is affected by their lack of confidence in speaking. At the same time, the factors of the study program and the school environment also affect the students' public speaking skills. Social Intelligence and General Self-Efficacy as Predictors of Public Speaking Skills among University Students

This study aimed to explore social intelligence and general self-efficacy as predictors of public speaking skills among university students. The study sample consisted of 403 participants (216 male and 187 female) randomly selected from Isra University and the University of Jordan. The results showed a higher influence of self-efficacy on students' public speaking skills than social intelligence. General self-efficacy and social intelligence showed a moderately significant association. Additionally, the findings revealed a positive but weak connection between general self-efficacy and public speaking skills. Also, the Pearson test detected a weak positive link between social intelligence and public speaking ability. Social intelligence and general self-efficacy were considered positive indicators of their public speaking skills. Finally, a statistically significant gender difference was detected among the participants' public speaking proficiency, though it was in favor of the male participants.

Why executive board membership in academic clubs helps students get interviews

PurposeThe paper aims to improve students' job placements, higher education institutions invest considerable resources and their students spend considerable time in academic clubs. Yet, quantitative findings on the effect of students' academic club involvement on job placements are mixed. This paper aims to help resolve ambiguity regarding the effect of academic clubs on job placements.Design/methodology/approachThe authors conducted two studies. The first developed an inductive theoretical model by interviewing recruiters and managers and extending status characteristics theory. The second study is an experiment that tested the first study's inductive model and increased the model's generalizability.FindingsThe results of both studies show that executive board membership, but not general membership, increases perceptions of applicants' emotional control and public speaking ability, and thereby increases applicants' chances of getting an interview.Practical implicationsAdministrators should consider shifting resources away from academic clubs that only benefit a few students and toward programs that help more students develop transferable skills. Students should prioritize joining clubs in which students think students can become executive board members. Academic clubs should require general members to have responsibilities that help members develop transferable skills. Industry may need to make more competitive offers to hire executive board members.Originality/valueThe two studies contribute to research on academic clubs by suggesting that the results of previous academic club membership studies are mixed, because only executive board members are more likely to get interviews. The results also highlight the importance of applying status characteristics theory to future academic club research.
