First report of Pseudocercospora cladosporioides, the causal agent of Cercospora leaf spot of olive trees, in Tunisia

Summary. Olive trees (Olea europaea) cv. Meski having leaves with yellow spots on the upper surface and grey blotches on the lower surface were found in three orchards located in the regions of Takelsa, Testour and Enfi dha, central and northern Tunisia. The shoots of the olive trees had also become defoliated indicating a severe attack of a pathogen. Pseudocercospora cladosporioides was isolated from symptomatic leaves and Koch’s postulates were fulfi lled. This is the fi rst Tunisian report of P. cladosporioides causing Cercospora leaf spot of olive trees.

Natural enemies of Japanese honeysuckle <i>Lonicera japonica</i> in New Zealand

Japanese honeysuckle is rapidly increasing as a weed throughout most of the North Island and northern South Island of New Zealand A classical biological control programme was initiated in 20042005 with a survey of the natural invertebrate fauna and pathogens associated with the weed in New Zealand The honeysuckle was being attacked by a diverse range of native and introduced invertebrates But overall the damage was minimal and none of the herbivore niches on the weed were well utilised implying that exotic agents may have a chance of inflicting additional damage that might be sufficient to control the species Most damage was caused by foliage feeders such as lepidopterous larvae and thrips but this affected less than 5 of total plant biomass Primary and secondary foliar pathogens such as Pseudocercospora lonicerae Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Insolibasidium deformans and Phoma spp were frequently recorded Potential use of these natural enemies for weed biocontrol is discussed

Additions to Pseudocercospora from India

Three new species of Pseudocercospora are described, illustrated and compared with allied taxa. These are P. casearigena on Casearia elliptica, P. ficicola on Ficus glomerata and P. gorakhpurensis on Ficus benghalensis .

Pseudocercospora elaeocarpi sp. nov. is described and illustrate from dead leaves ofElaeocarpus sp. collected in India.

Pseudocercospora rhynchosiae-suaveolentis sp. nov. from India

Pseudocercospora rhynchosiae-suaveolentis sp. nov. is described and illustrated from leaves of Rhynchosia sauveolens.

Some new species and a new combination in Pseudocercospora from India

Three new species of Pseudocercospora are described, illustrated and compared with allied taxa. They are P. bastiana on Oxystelma esculenta (Asclepiadaceae). P. madhuliensis on Cynoctonum mitreola (Loganiaceae), and P. trichoxanthidicola on Trichoxanthis anguina (Cucurbitaceae). Cercospora oxystelmatis is transferred as P. oxystelmatis (Khan & Kamal) comb. nov. on Oxystelma esculenta (Asclepiadaceae).

New species and combinations in Pseudocercospora from India

Pseudocercospora manilkarae sp. nov. on Manilkara hexandra isdescribed, illustrated and compared with allied species. Illustrations and redescriptions are given for Pseudocercospora olacicola (Muthappa) comb. nov. on Olax weightiana and Olax zeylanica, P. osbeckiae (Kapoor, Lai & Munjal) comb. nov. on Osbeckia stellata and P. stephaniae (Singh) comb. nov. on Stephania japonica and S. discolor.

New species and combinations in Pseudocercospora

Two new species are described and illustrated: Pseudocercospora samuhabeeja on Careya arborea and Pseudocercospora superficialis on Careya herbacea. Redescriptions and figures of Pseudocercospora careyae (T. S. & K. Ramakr.) comb. nov. on Careya arborea and P. thespesiae (Singh) comb. nov. on Thespesia lampus are provided.

Pseudocercospora carpentariae sp. nov. is described on the palm Carpentaria in Australia.

Pseudocercospora correae. Sp. nov, a Leaf Pathogen of Correa Species From Australia

Pseudocercospora correae sp. nov. is introduced for a sporodochial hyphomycete causing characteristic lesions on leaves of some Correa species. It is described and illustrated and the criteria distinguishing Cercoseptoria from Pseudocercospora are discussed.
