Entrepreneurship Development in Islamic Boarding School Through Tabulampot Cultivation

Indonesia is still trying to reduce poverty. One alternative to reducing poverty is through entrepreneurship. Therefore, entrepreneurial education is considered necessary to be introduced early. Tabulampot (Tanaman Buah Dalam Pot) is a technique for cultivating plants in containers, which can be in the form of pots or barrels, it can be an alternative for farming on limited land. This is considered to be an entrepreneurial potential that can encourage the economy of village communities. Entrepreneurship development is carried out at the Al-Munawar Islamic Boarding School, Garut, West Java by involving the pesantren administrators, students, and the community around the Islamic boarding school. The method used in entrepreneurship development is direct assistance by tabulampot practitioners and the provision of entrepreneurship. Based on the geographical characteristics of Islamic boarding schools, the plants that will be cultivated are mango, orange, and guava plants. Tabulampot cultivation has two main results, first the tabulampot harvest, which can be consumed by students and residents around the Islamic boarding school. The main reson is that the results of tabulampot cultivation can be reproduced and traded, which can then be sold and generate profits to advance the Islamic boarding school’s economy. Peran Pondok Pesantren dalam Pengembangan Jiwa Islamic Enterpreneurship

This thesis is intended to find out how the role of Islamic boarding schools in the development of entrepreneurship in students. As the goal is how it will affect if iwa enterpreneusrhip is applied to students. In this study, a qualitative approach method is used with a data collection method by conducting, observing, interviewing, and drawing conclusions. The results of drawing conclusions are as follows: (1) Al Inayah Islamic boarding school provides several business unit facilities as a practice for student development, although not all business units can be managed directly by students, but the entrepreneurial development carried out by the pesantren is quite ideal. Because pesantren has provided learning methods and the basics of entrepreneurship to students. (2) Students begin to be able to manage and capitalize on their own businesses, through the provision of entrepreneurship and vocational practices as a support for the Islamic spirit of entrepreneurship of students and of course under the supervision and direction of the management and the board of teachers of Islamic boarding schools. But not all pesantren business units can be used efficiently, because there are indeed several business units that specifically help students only if needed. (3) In its role, pesantren has provided balanced entrepreneurship provisions to students with pesantren backgrounds, of course, in providing knowledge about entrepreneurship, pesantren equipping religious knowledge as a guideline for Muslim entrepreneurs. In the form of pesantren training, it also holds seminars by bringing in experts or resource persons in entrepreneurship and the provision of BLK (Job Training Center) that can be participated by students.

PEMBERDAYAAN KEWIRAUSAHAAN SANTRI PADA PESANTREN YANBU'UL QUR'AN KUDUS

<p>Entrepreneurship empowerment in pesantren is expected to have a positive impact, especially for santri or student. Empowerment is meaningful as an effort made by the Yanbu'ul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School Arwaniyah Foundation in introducing, fostering and developing the values of santri entrepreneurship and increasing students' interest in entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship activities conducted are expected to foster the entrepreneurial character possessed by students. Entrepreneurial character is manifested in independence and leadership. With independence and leadership, students are expected to become role models for the surrounding community. Exemplary not only because they are graduates of Islamic boarding schools that are synonymous with da'wah activities, but also exemplary in economic activities by pocketing the entrepreneurial provision they have. Another goal with the provision of entrepreneurship is to improve the life skills of students. With the life skills that are owned, santri are felt ready when they enter the workforce later. Students are expected not only to depend on certain institutions to get jobs, but also can open their own jobs. By opening their own jobs, it will certainly open employment opportunities. This certainly can absorb unemployment in the community.</p>

Community Empowerment Efforts through Cupping Training Towards Healthy and Smart Bekasi [Upaya Pemberdayaan Masyarat melalui Pelatihan Bekam Menuju Bekasi Sehat dan Cerdas

This Community Service activity refers to the Bekasi city Government program, namely Towards Smart and Healthy Bekasi with An Ihsan Nuance. Efforts made by the Bekasi City Government include improving the health and welfare of the community, through various training in various fields. The Bekasi Government and the Al Fatih Ibaadurrohman Foundation as elements of society and academics from Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya University formed a collaboration by holding an entrepreneurship training so that the results are maximum and useful for residents of Bekasi City. The objectives of the activity are: 1) As counseling of public health education and training, 2) As counseling of improving the quality of the spirit of community entrepreneurship. The location of activity is in the East Bekasi District. The trainees are amounting to 118 people. Training methods include the theory and practice of Cupping and provision of entrepreneurship. Cupping is a practical, inexpensive, safe and easy method to learn by the community. This method is useful for maintaining health and treating diseases. The final result of this activity is the achievement of an optimal degree f health, improvement of skills and community empowerment in the economic field.

Strategi Peningkatan Pendanaan Mandiri Panti Asuhan Melalui Pelatihan Sablon

The purpose of this community service activity is to overcome the problem related to the operational funding needs of an orphanage by creating a small creative industry through the making of screen printing graphic art. The problem arises because the funding source of an orphanage is highly dependent on various sources of social grants that are not fixed so that it is prone to face financial difficulties if the budget expenditure is greater than the source of incoming funds. The solution to solve this problem is to increase economic independence by empowering the youth of the orphanage through the provision of screen printing skills manually. Methods in the implementation of this activity include; pre-implementation phase, implementation phase, and post-implementation phase. Through training and assistance in making screen printing is expected to create economic independence for the orphanage, increase the creativity and can be provision of entrepreneurship for the youth of the orphanage.

Country-level entrepreneurship: Crowding out the population’s need for autonomy

Purpose and problem: Governments through their policy support of new and growing enterprises continue to emphasise economic incentives as if most members of the population prioritise material gain. This article argues that high levels of government policy support for new and growing enterprises crowd out the population’s need for autonomy when potential entrepreneurs perceive government to be controlling.Methodology: The researchers constructed a country-level panel data set based on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, World Bank Group Entrepreneurship Survey, the World Economic Forum competitiveness reports and the International Monetary Fund data base for 44 countries over the period 2000 to 2007. Since we relied on eight years of secondary data, we applied panel analysis to the regressions. We used multiple regression to model the moderating effects of government policy support on the autonomy-entrepreneurship relationship.Findings: The findings show that government policy support tends to buffer the effect of autonomy on entrepreneurship, lending support to the article’s argument.Implications: This research has tested one of the most important anomalies in economics on entrepreneurship data: that ‘crowding out’ might reverse the most fundamental economic law, namely that raising economic incentives increases the supply of entrepreneurship.

Integrating “education for entrepreneurship” in multiple faculties in “half‐the‐time” to enhance graduate entrepreneurship

PurposeThis paper seeks to highlight the role of entrepreneurship education in encouraging the growth of graduate entrepreneurship in the UK to help overcome the over‐supply of university graduates in a very difficult employment market. This paper aims to discuss the design principle for entrepreneurship education that facilitates graduate entrepreneurship, and the design methodology that allows multi‐faculty collaboration in the provision of entrepreneurship programmes.Design/methodology/approachThis paper begins with the conceptualisation of design principles and frameworks based on current concepts found in the literature, followed by practitioner‐based reflection to shed insights into the process of developing entrepreneurship education in higher education institutions (HEIs).FindingsThe authors have developed the “30/70 methodology” to guide the future design of entrepreneurship education, and the “80/20 methodology” to support cross‐faculty entrepreneurship programmes to serve non‐business students. Factors that impede or support academic entrepreneurship and effective integration of entrepreneurship programmes in HEIs are discussed.Originality/valueThis paper shares the authors' experiences, and their unique design principles and methodology to support the development of education for entrepreneurship.

Role of Cooperatives in Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) Development in Nigeria: Challenges and the Way Forward

The paper examined the contributions of cooperatives to small and medium scale enterprises (SME) development, identified the challenges and to suggested ways of strengthening this role. The paper argued that SMEs are the key to Nigeria‟s prosperity, but that past efforts by the government to promote SMEs has not yielded the desired objectives. Cooperative societies from their antecedents have not only contributed to the development of small scale business but are in themselves small scale businesses. Cooperatives have always promoted small business development through entrepreneurial development, funding, provision of entrepreneurship, promotion of establishment of small scale industries, promotion of small holder agriculture, etc. But in spite of these efforts, cooperative sector is still faced with several challenges, including lack of adequate funds, illiteracy among its members, lack of training /educational opportunities which make it difficult for cooperatives to contribute maximally in business promotion activities, etc. The paper is of the opinion that more could be achieved if efforts are intensified to address these challenges. Reform of the cooperative policy framework, including legal and regulatory procedures is desirable. Other areas needing attention are capacity building to address the problems associated with management and leadership skills in the societies and the need to strengthen the cooperative governance system. Public Venture Capital, Occupational Choice, and Entrepreneurship

Abstract New businesses face constraints in the form of limited access to capital and managerial expertise. Many governments have developed public venture capital programs for the purpose of easing these constraints and assisting young firms in generating growth in output and employment. The paper develops a model that incorporates occupational choice and informational asymmetries with regard to the ability of entrepreneurs and supply of effort, and determines the optimal supply of entrepreneurship, financial assistance, and managerial advice provided by a public venture capital program.
