In Snodgrass (2012) the author proposed a method to unleash energy for education reform at the local level via a four-point framework designed to capture the elusive nature of subjectivity: 21st Century Learning Skills, self-esteem/self-concept/self-efficacy, expressed creativity and developmentally informed talent diversity. In the present paper, the author explores Della Salla and Anderson’s (2012) concept of design patterns as a method to close the adaptation loop and drive educational science. A design pattern that utilizes iPod/iPad “apptivities” is formulated within the proposed four-point framework. This design pattern is then applied to counseling and guidance standards and social work services in schools. In the context of providing adequate adherence to national standards, examples of this design pattern are provided as a strategy to assist educators and administrators achieve the mission of producing students who are self-reliant, capable, prepared, motivated and inspired to lifelong learning.
