PUBLIC EVENTS AS A MEAN OF DESTINATION PROMOTION

Tourism is often considered as a strategic economic development priority not only in areas with high numbers of domestic and international visitors but also in more remote and rural areas. Their ability to attract visitors is often limited by the number and the range of available infrastructure and other tangible and intangible resources. Even defined as development priority, tourism promotion is often underfinanced due to municipality budget priorities and often short-term focus whereas tourism promotion requires long term approaches. Less developed areas are also lacking overall understanding of various tourism impact forms and public officers face challenges communicating tourism marketing spendings to the public. These trends fit under the category of public events as a means of tourism promotion. Two cities qualifying as regional tourism destinations have prioritised public events as tourism promotion priorities. The aim of the research is to explore perception of public events as tourism destination promotion tools in regional tourism destinations. Research is a case study of public events as a means of tourism destination promotion in Bauska and Talsi city. Primary data has been obtained via semi-structured interviews with involved stakeholders representing public and private sector to develop practically applicable recommendations to other tourism destinations.

Film-Induced Tourism as a Key Factor for Promoting Tourism Destination Image: The James Bond Saga Case

This research extensively discusses the connection between destination image and films influencing tourism. Despite the worldwide fame of the James Bond saga and extensive publications on the subject, research into the role of tourism promotion in the image of destinations is still scarce, and there is no specific focus on analysing promotional aspects in relation to film-induced tourism. This study focuses on the influence of cinematographic images on the destination image perception and promotion, specifically exploring the case of the James Bond saga as a practical case. With 25 films released since 1962, the James Bond saga provides a basis for evaluating cinematic presence in tourism promotion strategies. This research proposes the content analysis of the official tourist websites of 23 destinations where the James Bond saga was shot, which offer some tourist products linked to the saga. The key findings provide valuable insights into the promotion of James Bond saga tourism destinations, the role of films in promoting destinations, and the tourism products developed from the saga films. The results provide visual outputs about the target image of the film shooting locations, and the text analysis provides keywords linked to the theme. The study’s methodology contributes to the discourse on film tourism and destination image topics and brings practical and theoretical contributions to both academia and destination managers.

Development of Creative Economy Based on Local Wisdom in the Era of Digital Transformation Through Inclusive Education and Village Community Empowerment in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta

This research aims to examine how inclusive education, community empowerment, and digital transformation contribute to the development of a creative economy based on local wisdom in Indonesia, with a focus on Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. Inclusive education, which is a primary concern in addressing social inclusion challenges, still shows low participation rates in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the presence of local communities in Indonesia, if supported by local governments and digital transformation, has the potential to open new opportunities in developing the creative economy with the utilization of digital technology to enhance reach and competitiveness. The research methodology employs a case study approach with qualitative methods, allowing for an in-depth understanding of the phenomena under investigation. Data were collected through library research and participant observations and then analyzed thematically. The research findings indicate that collaborative initiatives of local governments with stakeholders to develop locally-based tourism villages and the implementation of inclusive education in schools around these tourism villages have improved social inclusion and empowered the local economy. Active participation from various parties, such as local governments, communities, and social organizations, in managing and promoting tourism destinations has successfully increased collective income and community welfare. Through the adoption of digital technologies such as social media, online marketing, tour guide applications, and data management, tourism villages in Bantul can reach broader markets and enhance their competitiveness. As a result, not only is there an increase in economic welfare for local communities, but also an appreciation for local wisdom and traditional culture.

Implementation of Blue Economy Policy in Tourism Sector in Aceh Province

Blue economy is a concept about economic activities in or through sea and fresh water. This includes all forms of marine tourism, coastal tourism and freshwater tourism activities, which significantly contribute to sustainable economic practices in the region. The qualitative method has a case study approach with Aceh Province as the research location. The research results show that the blue economy concept is one of the government's solutions to economic and environmental problems. In the process of implementing tourism policies that have a blue economy feel, the Aceh Provincial Government has great authority, which is contained in the Aceh Government's nine authorities, namely establishing a development master plan, coordinating tourism implementation, carrying out registration, recording and data collection on business registration, determining tourism destinations, facilitating promotion of tourism destinations and tourism products, maintaining assets, allocating budgets, forming unique teams to assist agencies. This study concludes that the tourism sector has made a significant contribution to the development of the blue economy concept, so the tourism sector must ensure that tourism-related activities are included in the planning and development of blue economy policies in the tourism sector in Aceh Province, such as minimizing waste, multiplier effect, social inclusion, and innovation and adaptive. This study suggests that the blue economy should be utilized as a conceptual resource so that academics and industry can better connect with the results of neighbouring blue sectors, understand and respond to transformations in blue spaces, and advocate for sustainable tourism in the aquatic world.

The Role of Influencer Marketing for Tourism Destinations in Improving Brand Awareness through Instagram

This abstract delves into a comprehensive examination of the impact of Influencer Marketing on elevating brand awareness for tourism destinations, specifically leveraging Instagram as a pivotal social media platform. Situated in Nglanggeran Tourism Village, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, the study investigates the symbiotic relationship between influencer collaboration and the promotion of tourism destinations, with a focal point on measuring brand awareness as a primary outcome. Employing a quantitative methodology that integrates content analysis, surveys, Focus Group Discussion, and In-depth interviews; the study aims to assess the efficacy of Influencer Marketing campaigns. It further aims to identify the key factors of influencing brand awareness and delve into the perceptions and experiences of the influencers. The research question is how does influencer marketing on Instagram contribute to enhancing brand awareness for tourism destinations and what factors influence the effectiveness of such campaigns in the context of evolving consumer behaviour and preference. The findings reveal a positive correlation between influencer marketing and brand awareness, underscoring Instagram's potential as a potent tool for destination promotion. This study offers valuable insights for tourism marketers and destination management organizations seeking to strategically utilize influencer collaborations to enhance brand visibility and attract a greater influx of tourists.

This community service provides training homestay development strategies as a means of promotion in the context of increasing tourism in the Sawarna Tourism Town, Banten. Focusing on a participatory approach, the research details strategic steps to establish homestays that not only utilize the potential of local resources, but also integrate Sitamanbumi and Batour applications as modern promotional tools. Involving training for homestay managers and utilization of digital technology, the research aims to create an authentic tourist experience while supporting local economic growth. By exploring the potential of tourism and community empowerment, this research contributes to a practical understanding of how homestays can be an important pillar in the promotion of tourist destinations and build positive impact within local communities.

Implementasi Sistem Informasi Wisata Berbasis Media Sosial untuk Meningkatkan Promosi Destinasi Pariwisata di Muara Enim

This research discusses the implementation of a social media-based tourism information system to improve the promotion of tourism destinations in Muara Enim, South Sumatra. With a focus on TikTok and Instagram, this research addresses the lack of understanding of Muara Enim's tourism potential among people outside the region through qualitative methods and data analysis. The results show that the utilization of social media, such as TikTok and Instagram, effectively increases the visibility of Muara Enim's tourism destinations, attracts tourists, and expands people's understanding of the tourism potential in the area. In the context of contribution, this research highlights the role of social media as an effective tool for local tourism development. As a suggestion for future research, further studies regarding the interaction and direct response of tourists to social media content, as well as evaluating the economic impact of increased tourism in Muara Enim. This can help a deeper understanding of the potential and challenges in developing the tourism sector through social media in Muara Enim.

PEMANFAATAN DAN PENDAMPINGAN PEMBUATAN QR CODE DAN FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE SEBAGAI MEDIA PROMOSI WISATA DI DESA APUAN SUSUT BANGLI

The purpose of this service activity is to develop the potential of tourist destinations in Apuan village by utilising information technology-based local wisdom, which empowers the potential of the community in increasing family income through increasing creative economic businesses supporting tourist destinations. While the specific target of this service activity, namely in the development of tourism destination promotion. This activity was carried out for 1 (one) month, with several stages of activities in the implementation of this Community Service (PKM), including: (1) initial evaluation; (2) group formation; (3) QR-Code making training; (4) Facebook Marketplace making training; (5) business management assistance; (6) final evaluation, and (7) special monitoring for sustainability. The activities have been implemented, and the village community has begun to utilise Facebook Marketplace as a medium for digital-based tourism promotion.

Bibliometrics of Destination Marketing Research: Cocitation and bibliographic coupling analyses

Destination marketing is a vital domain of tourism management and research, as it involves the promotion of tourism destinations to potential visitors and the enhancement of their competitiveness and attractiveness. The aim of this study is to present a bibliometric analysis of destination marketing publications, using descriptive statistics, co-citation analysis, and bibliographic couplings. The study utilizes the Dimensions database to collect 1622 articles published in tourism and hospitality journals from 2014 to 2023. The results reveal the main trends, themes, and authors in destination marketing research, as well as the intellectual structure and development of the field. The study also identifies the research gaps and future directions for destination marketing research.

Content Advertising Assistance through Instagram Ads in the Kampung Wisata Tridi

This study aimed to enhance content advertising for Kampung Wisata Tridi through Instagram Ads. It involved a two-phase approach: a needs assessment and an intervention. The assessment uncovered a limited understanding of Instagram Ads among Kampung Wisata Tridi members. The intervention comprised a training session attended by 10 representatives. Results indicated improved comprehension of Instagram Ads basics and effective usage. Post-training, participants successfully created and managed their Instagram Ads. Conclusively, the study highlighted Instagram Ads as a valuable tool for promoting tourism destinations. The training session equipped Kampung Wisata Tridi with essential knowledge and skills, enabling them to leverage Instagram Ads for reaching a broader audience in their content advertising efforts.

The Role of Digital Marketing in Enhancing the Attractiveness of Tourism Destinations on New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve is considered a global celebration and a significant attraction for tourists. In the continually evolving digital era, digital marketing has become a crucial instrument in promoting tourism destinations. The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of digital marketing in increasing the allure of tourism destinations on New Year's Eve. The study employed a comprehensive literature review utilizing qualitative analysis to gain a thorough understanding of the topic spanning from 2002 to 2023. The findings indicate that, in enhancing the appeal of tourism destinations on New Year's Eve, the role of digital marketing is paramount. Through creativity in content, leveraging VR and AR technologies, and facilitating online booking convenience, tourism destinations can capture the attention of tourists and ensure an unforgettable New Year's experience. Collaboration with digital influencers also proves to be an effective strategy in generating positive online buzz.

Penggunaan Media Sosial Tiktok Sebagai Referensi Wisata: Studi Kasus Pada Karyawan Indomaret di Jakarta

In the current era, social media through various information content shared plays an important role in many ways. Including the promotion and marketing of tourism destinations. Tiktok is one of the platforms that helps in disseminating a lot of information, from entertainment, shopping, to tourism. The purpose of this study is to determine the benefits of using Tiktok as a platform to find tourist references by Private Employees in Jakarta. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study research type. The data collection techniques used were interview and observation techniques. Interviews were conducted with 4 informants who in this case worked as private employees at one of the minimarkets in Jakarta. The observations made were on the tourist searching activities carried out by the 4 informants above. The results of the research conducted show that content diversity and individual preferences play an important role in the selection of media platforms used to find travel references and other activities. TikTok is one of the media that is useful and can be used as a source of reference and information in the decision to travel by Private Employees in Jakarta. Apart from relying on TikTok media, some Private Employees in Jakarta also rely on other media such as YouTube. Based on this research, it can also be seen that the use of several social media, including platforms such as TikTok, has significantly supported the growth of tourist attractions in Indonesia.

An Analysis of English for Tourism, Digital Literacy, and Business Success to A Tourist Destination Promotion

The research aims to explore an analysis of English for tourism, digital literacy, business success to promote tourism destinations. The study employed aquantitave research method using cross-sectional. The sample in this study was carried out by non-probability sampling, the accidental sampling technique. Data is collected byusing interviews and observations to collect data from 30 respondents comprising of local tourism stakeholders, including tourism business owners, village officials, and community members in Silalahi 1 village, Dairi regency. The findings indicate thatthe results of the F test show that the value of Fcount is 82.009, so that Fcount> Ftable (82.009> 2.99) and the sig. 0.000 < 0.05. So it can be concluded that english for tourism (X1), digital literacy (X2), and business success (X3) simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on thetourist destinationpromotion (Y). This research contributes to the tourism industry by highlighting the importance of English for tourism, digitalliteracy, and business success as essential tools for promoting tourism destinations in remote areas. It is recommended that tourism stakeholders in the village should invest in digital literacy training, the use of English for tourism literacy, and business success to enhance tourism promotion efforts. The Influence of Short Videos on Youth Travel Intention in Self-Media Context ——Based on SOR Theory Perspective

The rise of short videos and the development of self-media in recent years have complemented each other. Through the recording and sharing of self-media creators, colorful short videos have provided new opportunities for promoting tourism destinations. However, the current academic research on tourism destinations from the perspective of short video communication is relatively fragmented, and the impact of short videos as a communication medium on the main body of tourism consumption remains unclear. Therefore, this paper focuses on young people, who are the primary audience of short videos, and investigates the influence of short videos on their travel intentions within the context of self-media, employing the "S-O-R" theory. The research methodology involves conducting a questionnaire survey, and the collected data is analyzed and processed using multivariate statistical methods such as SPSS and AMOS. The findings reveal that traveler perception serves as a mediating factor between self-media short videos and travel intentions. Moreover, the openness, interactivity, and vividness of self-media short videos not only enhance youth travel intentions but also have a positive impact on traveler perception. In light of these results, tourism destinations should capitalize on current trends, leverage short videos as a powerful promotional tool, innovate promotional methods, explore tourism resources in depth, showcase the unique features of tourist destinations, expand their influence, and maximize the promotion of travel intentions among tourists.

Strategi Pemanfaatan Media Sosial dan Influencer oleh Dinas Pariwisata Provinsi Sumatera Barat dalam Mempromosikan Pariwisata di Sumatera Barat

This research was conducted with the aim of evaluating the use of social media and the role of influencers by the Tourism Office of West Sumatra Province in an effort to increase tourism promotion in West Sumatra. The research method applied is a case study approach in the context of qualitative research. To identify weaknesses and opportunities in the tourism promotion strategy implemented by the West Sumatra Tourism Office, as well as to evaluate potential deficiencies and threats that may arise in the future, SWOT analysis is used as a research tool. The research data was obtained through in-depth interviews with the staff of the Tourism Office as well as a number of tourism influencers involved in promoting tourism destinations in West Sumatra. The results of the study show that the Tourism Office of West Sumatra Province has implemented a strategy that focuses on utilizing social media and collaboration with influencers in an effort to promote tourism. In its implementation, the Tourism Office uses a collaborative approach with tourism influencers, where they involve them in content development, visits to tourist destinations, and promotional events. Apart from that, they also pay attention to performance measurement through data analysis from social media platforms and feedback from tourists. However, the implementation of tourism promotion faces several challenges such as intense competition in tourist destinations, lack of supervision of influencer content and travel media accounts and changes in social media algorithms.

The Effect of Antep Baklava Registered with Geographical Indication on Tourism Destination Promotion

Türkiye'de coğrafi işaretli ürün sayısı her geçen gün artmaktadır. Avrupa Birliği nezdinde ülkemizin coğrafi işaret tescili alan ilk ürünü Antep baklavasıdır. Yapılan bu araştırmanın temel amacını Antep baklavasının destinasyon tanıtımı üzerindeki etkisinin ortaya konulması oluşturmaktadır. Gerçekleştirilen bu araştırma nitel desende tasarlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda öncelikle verilerin toplanması amacı ile literatür araştırması yapılmış, bu doğrultuda yarı yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formu hazırlanmıştır. Araştırma verilerine ise söz konusu yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığı ile Gaziantep’te yaşayan sekiz katılımcı üzerinden ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler MAXQDA 2022 programında analiz edilerek çözümlenmiştir. Ulaşılan sonuçlara göre Antep baklavası turizm faaliyetlerine çeşitlilik katması ve yerel ürünlerin turizme kazandırılması bakımından bölgenin tanıtımına büyük oranda katkı sağlamaktadır.

Tourism is an important sector in the economic development of a region. In the digital era like now, social media has become an effective tool for promoting tourism destinations. Instagram, as one of the most popular social media platforms, has great potential to become an effective tourism information medium. This research aims to explain the tourism communication strategy used by the Instagram account @PariwisataNgawi in promoting Ngawi Regency as a tourism destination. This research uses qualitative methods to identify the type of content posted, hashtag use, interaction with users, and posting frequency. In addition, this research concludes that Instagram @PariwisataNgawi has succeeded in implementing an effective tourism communication strategy in promoting Ngawi Regency as a tourism destination. By making good use of social media, Ngawi Regency can continue to increase its tourism appeal and attract more tourists to visit this area. It is hoped that this research can provide valuable insight for local governments and related parties in developing their tourism communication strategies through social media.

Sports Brands and Tourism: Unexpected Perspectives of Mutual Development

Objective: This paper takes the World Cup in Qatar as a case study to study how sports brands and sports tourism development are mutually beneficial, focusing on the development of sports tourism, the marketing strategy of sports brands, and the mutual influence and complementary relationship between the two. Investigate the development of the global sports tourism market in recent years, analyze the characteristics of sports tourism products and services, and discuss the attractiveness and value-added effects of sports events as tourism destinations. Methods: This study uesd the event analysis method for research. Choose the Qatar World Cup as the research object, regard it as an important sports tourism event and sports brand marketing event. Citations from related articles provided the basis for this study. This approach can provide insight into the performance and impact of the combination of sports tourism and sports branding at the World Cup in Qatar, making a meaningful contribution to the research field. Results: The research results showed that there are some problems in sports tourism at present, but the future development potential is huge, especially after the epidemic is over. Sports tourism will usher in rapid development. The combination of tourism and sports can not only enhance the popularity of tourist destinations but also bring huge economic benefits. To sum up, the conclusion of this paper is that the combination of sports brands and tourism has broad market prospects. Conclusion: The combination of sports tourism and sports brands played an important role in the World Cup in Qatar and had a profound impact on the promotion of sports tourism destinations and the dissemination of sports brands. Through the research, the following conclusions can be drawn sports tourism is an important platform for sports brand promotion, and the global communication of sports brands has helped sports tourism to enhance its popularity. However, in the combination of sports tourism and sports brands, Qatar also faces some challenges, such as seasonal factors and cultural differences, which require the entire sports tourism industry to continuously explore solutions.

The impact of virtual reality and biological sex on the promotion of tourist destinations: effects on destination image, place attachment, and behavioural intention

研究目的本文旨在探讨不同虚拟现实（VR）设备在旅游推广中对目的地形象、地方依恋和行为意图的影响, 并增加对此方面的认识。研究方法本文对不同可视化技术（视频、沉浸式VR和多感官沉浸式VR）在旅游目的地推广中的影响进行了比较研究。研究的依赖变量包括目的地形象、地方依恋和行为意图。研究发现研究结果表明, VR内容对这些变量有影响。多感官沉浸式VR是目的地推广的首选内容类型。研究还证明, 女性参与者在每个变量上的评分高于男性参与者。男性在视频设备上对目的地形象和地方依恋评分较高。无论是在男性还是女性中, 视频在行为意图方面的得分都高于沉浸式VR。实践价值我们得出结论, 人们更偏好多感官设备, 这表明将视听和感官元素纳入虚拟现实体验可以显著提高吸引和吸引潜在游客的效果。研究创新本文对不同虚拟现实因素对旅游推广的影响, 包括多感官VR组成部分, 做出了有益的贡献。
