Infertility is a disease of the male or female reproductive system defined by the failure to achieve a pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Infertility has numerous reasons, including genetic and hormonal variables, as well as definable factors. The Present study focuses on the gene expression of Mucin-4 and the relation with the hormonal state of Iraqi infertile females, and some demographic factors such as age, body mass index, family history of infertility. Present study included 72 female divided into: forty infertile women and thirty two fertile women. This study tested hormones: T3, T4 ,TSH, FSH, LH, Prolactin Testosterone, Estradiol. Fertile female revealed a significant increase in T4, FSH while both hormones revealed a significant increase in infertile females. Testosterone revealed a highly significant compared to the study group, studied gene expression by PCR. Gene expression for Mucin4 showed that there were no significant differences between infertile and fertile (p≥0.05), Therefore there is a negative association between mucin4 and infertility.
