Research Training: Research Attitudes and Skills in Public Management Students from a Peruvian University

Research has consolidated itself as a key element in the advancement of science and academic development, while simultaneously emerging as a transcendental activity that enables, among other achievements, the attainment of professional degrees and titles. This study examines the relationship between research skills and attitude towards research. The design was non-experimental, applied to a probabilistic sample of 240 students. Two questionnaires were utilized to assess attitudes and research skills. A highly significant positive correlation was found through the statistical procedure Rho Spearman = 0.594 and p-value 0.001. These results corroborated previous studies that outline significantly associated factors, confirming that the importance of research skills is necessary and part of an appropriate attitude towards research that facilitates the development of skills applicable in academic, personal, and professional spheres. Research activity is essential for the growth of critical and highly capable individuals, capable of significantly enhancing their performance in various activities. Nurse Practitioners' Experiences of Transitioning to and Working in the Pioneering Nursing Role: An Interview Study.

Nurse practitioners (NPs) play a crucial role in healthcare by providing person-centred and high-quality care. Their contributions encompass enhanced accessibility to healthcare and reduced hospital admissions and cost-effectiveness. They usually hold a master's degree in nursing, incorporating expanded clinical skills to manage patients in different settings and address both nursing and medical needs. Despite the global development of the role, its implementation varies, presenting challenges related to role clarity, regulation and acceptance by other healthcare professionals. To explore how nurses who are or have been employed as NPs describe their experiences of transitioning to and working in the NP role in Sweden. A qualitative interview study. This study explores the experiences of 15 NPs in Sweden, using a snowball sampling strategy and semi-structured interviews. The data were collected through interviews in April and May 2022 and analysed with inductive content analysis. The present study explores the experiences of NPs as they transition from experienced nurses to NPs, emphasising motivations, educational challenges, acceptance and autonomy. Transitioning into the NP role initially brought isolation that evolved into acceptance. They recognised their strength in integrating medical and nursing competencies for holistic care. Leadership was pivotal, with managerial support crucial for the successful implementation of the role. Autonomy-related challenges, such as prescription rights and dependency on physicians, underscored the need for a protected professional title and national guidelines. This study enriches the evolution of the NP role in Sweden, offering vital insights into the ongoing national-level dialogues on NP role development in Sweden. The paper's relevance extends globally by providing valuable perspectives on NPs practicalities and fostering international understanding and advancement. Records Managers – Obligation to Pass the Professional Exam

Records managers at the creators of archives are defined by the archival legislation of the Republic of Srpska, The Law on Archives and the Regulations on record management for administrative bodies. Records managers are officials of different degrees and fields of education. Given that there are no high schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina that deal with the training of archival technicians, the education of officials is carried out through the preparation for passing professional exams in the Archives of the Republic of Srpska according to the planned program, and constant professional development through seminars/trainings provided for records managers. It is very important to employ an expert person, qualified to manage records and monitor information and technological development. Professional training and improvement are of the greatest importance for the protection of public records, especially at a time when it is necessary to follow technological and informational development. Since 2002, the Archives of the Republic of Srpska and the Association of Archivists of the Republic of Srpska have launched a program of taking professional exams for records managers. In the period from March 2002 to January 2024, a total of 300 candidates passed the professional exam for working on the protection of public records and archival materials. The plan and program of taking professional exams for records managers is regulated by the "Regulations on conditions, deadlines and methods of taking professional archival exams, recognition of professional archival titles and conditions for acquiring professional archival titles".

National Collegiate Athletic Association Athletic Trainers’, Head Coaches’, and Student-Athletes’ Perceptions of Professional Titles Used in Sport PsychologyA

The purpose of this convergent mixed-methods study was to explore National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I athletic trainer (AT), head coach, and student-athlete perceptions of three commonly used sport psychology professional titles in the United States: Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), mental conditioning coach, and sport psychologist. Participants included 73 ATs, 79 head coaches, and 76 student-athletes. Participants completed an online questionnaire that assessed their previous exposure to these professionals, the services they believed these professionals could provide, their confidence in sport psychology consultation from these professionals, and their stigma tolerance of these professionals. A series of Friedman tests found that ATs and student-athletes perceived significantly more confidence in the services of a sport psychologist compared to a CMPC and a mental conditioning coach. A series of Kruskal-Wallis tests revealed that student-athletes perceived significantly more stigma in using services from all three professionals than head coaches and ATs. Participants reported that sport psychologists could provide mental performance and mental health services, while CMPCs and mental conditioning coaches primarily provided mental performance services. However, short answer responses from many ATs and head coaches about CMPCs demonstrated some doubt and misunderstanding of this professional title.

Contested role boundaries and professional title: Implications of the independent review of podiatric surgery in Australia.

In October 2023, the Podiatry Board of Australia commissioned an independent review of the regulation of podiatric surgery in Australia, with a remit to re-evaluate the regulatory framework, identify any risks to patient safety and recommend improvements to public protection. It reported in March 2024 and set out 14 key recommendations. The review was prompted by a number of complaints about podiatric surgeons but also reflected calls for reform by the medical profession and several critical media reports. This paper sets out to examine the review report, alongside the concerns of the medical profession and the media articles expressed within it, through the lens of an established sociological framework focused on interprofessional conflict and the contested use of professional titles. As a review rather than the research paper, the Independent Review of Podiatric Surgery (the 'Paterson Report') served as data for the sociological analysis, adopting a Neo-Weberian and Bordieuan framework to examine the strategies adopted by the medical profession and media reports cited in the report, consistent with the exercise of professional power. The sociological analysis provides insights into the ways in which professions seek to maintain symbolic, social, cultural and economic privileges and rewards through the exclusion of competitors, using strategies such as social closure, symbolic violence, symbolic devaluation, gatekeeper roles, and jurisdictional disputes. The review report acknowledges the influence of the medical profession and its opposition to the practice of podiatric surgery and use of the title 'podiatric surgeon'. The arguments made and strategies deployed are consistent with those found in the wider literature. In light of these findings, the implications for the future of podiatric surgery are considered in terms of professional practice, use of professional title, and access to public funding.

Transformational Leadership and Non-Teaching Staffs’ Job Satisfaction in Selected Private Higher Educational Institutions

To better enhance the competitiveness of private colleges and universities, especially in the case of fewer and fewer students, the soft power of human resources is particularly important. Thus, research on private colleges and universities is of great significance to promoting the development of higher education in Sichuan and even the entire western region. The research found that the job satisfaction of employees was closely positively correlated with the four aspects of transformational leadership (idealized influence, inspiration motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration), and the needs for transformational leadership were different for different educational levels, age groups, and professional titles. The study showed that the higher the educational level and professional title, the stronger their demand for transformational leadership, and vice versa; in terms of age and years of work, the older and longer the staff had, the lower their demand for transformational leadership and the lower their scores. They had a fixed mindset and were more inclined to a stable leadership style. On the other hand, the study found that the job satisfaction of administrative staff was significantly affected by leadership style, that is, they had a significant correlation, among which relationship satisfaction had the highest correlation, followed by satisfaction with the environment and welfare, and then the satisfaction with personal growth and progress. The lowest correlation was the satisfaction with the work itself. This is mainly because transformational leaders have a sense of responsibility, motivate and inspire employees, guide employees, and pay attention to the balance between work and life, which evaluates various standards relatively high. The research results are helpful to promote the improvement of transformational leadership in private universities, and then improve employee satisfaction.

Exploring beliefs among Chinese preschool teachers and their associations with perceived practices and process quality

ABSTRACT This study delves into Chinese preschool teachers’ beliefs within a developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) framework, advocating for a more detailed understanding beyond traditional dichotomies. Using a person-centred approach, we analysed data from 202 preschool teachers in China to identify profiles of teachers’ beliefs, predictors of profile membership, and impacts on educational outcomes. Findings revealed three latent profiles: higher-level, moderate-level, and lower-level beliefs. Professional titles and years of experience were significantly associated with profile membership. Teachers with higher-level beliefs demonstrated superior perceived practices and process quality. They also reported higher scores for both DAP and developmentally inappropriate practice (DIP). This paradoxical finding suggests that certain practices traditionally viewed as developmentally inappropriate within Western educational contexts may be adapted or hold particular relevance in Chinese educational settings.

Comparison and analysis of ophthalmic resources and service ability in Shanxi Province in 2014 and 2021

Objective: To compare and analyze the ophthalmic resources and service ability in Shanxi Province in 2014 and 2021, and to provide reference for the development planning of ophthalmology and eye care. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a questionnaire survey was conducted among all ophthalmic institutions registered in the health administrative department in 11 cities of Shanxi Province by the end of 2014 and 2021 by using the National Ophthalmology Competency Resource Questionnaire (compiled by the Medical Administration and Hospital Authority of the National Health and Wellness Commission). The basic situations of ophthalmic institutions in 2014 and 2021, as well as the human resources, ophthalmic equipment configuration, technology and medical service capabilities, were recorded and compared. The chi-square test was used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 270 questionnaires for 2014 were collected from 270 ophthalmic institutions, and 292 questionnaires for 2021 from 292 ophthalmic institutions. The institution categories in 2014 (197 general hospitals, 31 eye hospitals and 42 others) were statistically different from those in 2021 (182 general hospitals, 45 eye hospitals and 65 others) (P<0.05). The proportion of doctors with senior titles in ophthalmic institutions increased from 25.5% (346/1 358) in 2014 to 41.7% (580/1 391) in 2021, the proportion of senior technicians increased from 9.4% (14/148) to 25.3% (110/435), the proportion of doctors with junior titles decreased from 42.1% (572/1 358) to 26.5% (369/1 391), and the proportion of junior technicians decreased from 45.3% (67/148) to 39.1% (170/435). There was a significant difference in the distribution of professional titles between doctors and technicians in ophthalmic institutions (P<0.05). The number of doctors (130 to 28), nurses (152 to 50), technicians (33 to 11) and full-time optometrists (44 to 12) in the first-class ophthalmic institutions decreased, the increase of equipment with the ophthalmic A-ultrasound scan system, fundus camera and coherent optical tomography system (35.1%, 28.9% and 25.4%; P<0.05) ranked the top three, and the increase of performing the phacoemulsification procedure, intraocular lens implantation, intravitreal injection and iris surgery (30.2%, 24.7% and 20.7%; P<0.05) ranked the top three in 2021 as compared to 2014. Conclusions: The resources and service ability of ophthalmology in Shanxi Province developed in 2021 in comparison with 2014. However, there were some problems, such as changes in the type and structure of eye institutions, unreasonable proportions of professional titles, insufficient human resources in primary ophthalmic institutions, and slow improvement in the allocation of ophthalmology equipment and technical capabilities.

The effect of work-family conflict on employee well-being among physicians: the mediating role of job satisfaction and work engagement

BackgroundWork-family conflict among physicians has many adverse consequences, like reduced work engagement and impaired well-being. However, relatively little research has been conducted on the impact of work-family conflict on specific pathways of physician well-being. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between work-family conflict and employee well-being among physicians and to explore the mediating role of job satisfaction and work engagement in this relationship.MethodsUsing data from a cross-sectional survey of 2,480 physicians in Jilin Province, China, partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was applied in this study to examine the direct and indirect effects of work-family conflict on employee well-being and to assess the mediating roles of job satisfaction and work engagement therein.ResultsThe employee well-being score of physicians in Jilin Province was 5.16 ± 1.20. The univariate analysis results indicated significant disparities in employee well-being scores across different age groups, marital statuses, and professional titles. Work-family conflict was significantly negatively associated with employee well-being, while job satisfaction and work engagement were significantly positively associated with employee well-being. In addition, job satisfaction and work engagement were found to mediate the association between work-family conflict and employee well-being, and work engagement was considered to mediate the association between job satisfaction and employee well-being.ConclusionsOur study confirms that work-family conflict negatively affects physicians’ employee well-being. Moreover, our investigation revealed that the association between work-family conflict and employee well-being is influenced by both job satisfaction and work engagement and that work engagement plays a mediating role in the link between job satisfaction and employee well-being. Therefore, we propose that hospital administrators should rationally allocate organizational resources and develop manageable schedules to enhance physicians’ employee well-being.

Current sedation practices for non-invasive procedures in tertiary maternity and children's hospitals in China: a 5-year update.

Sedation techniques can ease anxiety during medical procedures for children. Our previous report on Chinese sedation practices for non-invasive procedures in 2018 is outdated due to the rapid development of sedation services. This study provides an updated report on sedation practices for non-invasive procedures in China. This is a cross-sectional study. Questionnaires were sent to tertiary maternity and children's hospitals nationwide through the WeChat Mini Program. The survey questioned the location and caseloads of hospitals providing sedation services, support facilities, contraindications, fasting practices, sedation regimens, monitoring practices, staff structure, certification requirements for sedation providers and quality control data. Procedural sedation for non-invasive procedures were provided in 88 of 114 hospitals. These hospitals are located across the country except Heilongjiang province and the Tibet Autonomous Region. Compared with previous reports, significant increases were found in the number of hospitals providing sedation services, dedicated sedation rooms and recovery rooms and full-time sedation providers. Most hospitals advocated the 2-4-6 rule for pre-sedation fasting. Dexmedetomidine was the most used first-choice sedative. Anaesthesiologists remain the primary sedation providers, but nurses are also important. The most mentioned qualification requirements for sedation providers were a professional title of attending doctor, ≥5 years of working experience in paediatric anaesthesia and paediatric advanced life support certification. Sedation service records were used in 83 hospitals, but only 42 and 39 recorded success rates and adverse events, respectively. Sedation services for non-invasive procedures are available in most areas of China. More hospitals now provide sedation services and full-time sedation providers. Supporting facilities and sedation regimens have improved. Non-anaesthesiologist sedation providers are important at current stage, developing training programmes for them may be necessary. Attention should be focused on quality control and improvement of sedation services.

Foot in both camps: How do activities on third-party online healthcare platforms affect doctors' demand on official online healthcare platforms?

Using empirical data from a third-party platform and a comprehensive public hospital (equipped with an official online healthcare platform) in China, this study employs a two-stage Heckman selection model and find that third-party online healthcare platforms (OHPs) should not be considered an obstacle to promoting official OHPs. Instead, doctors' activities on third-party OHPs increase the demand for doctors on official OHPs. Moreover, this study explores the heterogeneity in the effects of the doctor groups. For example, the impact of specific efforts is stronger for doctors with higher professional titles but weaker for doctors with higher online ratings. This study provides valuable insights for policymakers and hospital administrators to promote and coordinate online services across multiple platforms.

Multivariate Analysis and Prediction Model Construction for Dermatoscope Use by Chinese Dermatologists via an Online Survey.

The use of dermatoscopes is constantly increasing globally, but to date, there are no studies on the use of dermatoscopes by Chinese dermatologists. To determine factors influencing the use of dermatoscopes in China. A web-based questionnaire was designed by the Department of Dermatology at Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University and was published online via the Shanghai Wheat Color Intelligent Technology Company, China. In 2019 and 2022, 1581 and 1507 dermatologists, respectively, were recruited and completed the questionnaire online. In China, the application rate of dermatoscopy is higher in eastern provinces than in western and remote areas. The proportion of doctors from public tertiary hospitals is the highest, with females being the majority. The age range of 30-40 years has the highest proportion, the proportion of doctors with professional titles of attending physician or above is the highest, and the proportion of doctors with a bachelor's degree or above is the highest. By improving the education and professional standards of doctors, providing more training opportunities, simplifying access, and promoting dermatoscopy in grassroots hospitals, we can increase the confidence of dermatologists in the use of dermatoscopy.

The status quo and correlational analysis of nursing practices, burnout, and social support among nurses from private hospitals in Dazhou, a less developed area of China

ObjectiveTo investigate the status quo of nursing practices, job burnout and social support among private hospitals in Dazhou, Sichuan Province, and perform correlational analysis.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted. A total of 244 nurses were surveyed via convenience sampling from 7 private hospitals, which were randomly selected from Dazhou city. A self-designed demographic sociology questionnaire was applied, and the Chinese versions of the Maslach Burnout Scale and the Social Support scale administered from September to November 2022.ResultsThe investigated nurses were relatively young (26.84 ± 4.90 years), had a short duration of service, a low academic background, a low professional title and a low income; however, they were highly satisfied with their working environment and had a low level of burnout, and their level of personal achievement was low. Overtime work, education level and number of children had significant impacts on the level of nurse burnout. The level of social support was high, and various dimensions were negatively correlated with the emotional exhaustion and depersonalization dimensions of burnout (r=-0.438, P < 0.01; r=-0.372, P < 0.01) and positively correlated with personal achievement (r = 0.291, P < 0.01). However, the level of social support was not significantly associated with burnout (r=-0.060, p = 0.354).ConclusionsNursing managers in private hospitals should consider ways of improving nurses’ education, professional titles, working environment and increasing nurses’ income to stabilize the nursing team. Efforts should be made to relieve the nurses’ pressure, and notice the overtime work and professional development of nurses to enhance the personal sense of achievement. More measures should be taken to improve the level of social support, thereby promoting the continuous improvement of nursing quality. Due to the uneven level of social and economic development in different parts of China, the extensibility of the research needs to be confirmed by more studies, but it still has important reference significance for Northeast Sichuan, which represents areas with similar social and economic levels.

Diabetes knowledge, attitudes and practices among Chinese primary care physicians: a cross-sectional study

BackgroundType 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a public health crisis that requires adequate knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) by health care providers to prevent or delay the progression of the disease. This study aimed to assess the KAP regarding T2DM among primary care providers (PCPs) in Central China.MethodsThis multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted among 971 PCPs using self-employed KAP questionnaires. Questionnaires were designed to evaluate KAP regarding T2DM among PCPs, and was measured with SPSS software. Descriptive statistics, the Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression models used to analyze the data.70%, 80% and 70% of total values were considered as the cut-off point for defining good knowledge, positive attitude and correct practice.ResultsA total of 971 PCPs with a mean age of 44.0 ± 10.2 years were evaluated. 620 (63.9%) PCPs worked at village clinic and 605 (62.3%) PCPs have been working more than 20 years. Only 26.3% of the respondents participated in Continued Medical Education (CME) programs regarding diabetes in the past year due to Covid-19 pandemic. Overall, despite positive attitudes toward diabetes, there were substantial gaps in knowledge and practices. The PCPs scored 7.25 out of 14 points on the knowledge subscales, 7.13 out of 8 on the attitude subscales, and 4.85 out of 11 on the practice subscales. Gender, age, practice setting, professional titles, duration of practice and CME attendance were significant predictors of knowledge; Age, practice setting and duration of practice were significant predictors of attitudes; and family history of diabetes affected PCP practices.ConclusionsDespite positive attitudes toward diabetes, there were substantial gaps in knowledge and practices. These findings call for action from relevant health authorities and policy makers to improve PCPs’ KAP regarding diabetes in Central China.

The relationship between psychological capital and humanistic caring ability among mental health nurses in Saudi Arabia

BackgroundThe ability to provide humanistic care has a significant impact on the therapeutic relationships in psychiatric services, which in turn influences patients’ outcomes.AimTo examine the relationship between psychological capital and humanistic care ability among mental health nurses in Saudi Arabia.MethodsA descriptive correlational research design was implemented in this study. A convenience sampling method was used to collect information from 500 mental health nurses from a governmental mental health facility. The data were collected using the psychological capital questionnaire and the caring ability inventory.ResultsThe results revealed high levels of psychological capital and humanistic care ability among mental health nurses. Psychological capital significantly predicted humanistic care ability (\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$\\:{R}^{2}=$$\\end{document} 0.630, F(1,498) = 851.16, p< 0.001). Also, there were significant relationships between sociodemographic variables and psychological capital (age, educational level, and professional title) and humanistic care ability (age and years of experience).ConclusionPsychological capital was found to be be positively associated with the humanistic care ability of mental health nurses. The findings of this study suggest that nursing managers should explore strategies from the viewpoint of positive psychology to enhance the psychological capacity of mental health nurses to provide humanistic care abilities, which can effectively improve nurses-patients’ relationships and outcomes in clinical practice.

Knowledge, attitude and practice toward to artificial intelligent patient-controlled analgesia among anesthesiologists: a cross-sectional study in east China’s Jiangsu Province

BackgroundInadequate postoperative analgesia greatly affects the recovery of patients, can poses a substantial health and economic burden. Patient-controlled analgesia is the most commonly used method for postoperative pain relief. However, the situation of inadequate analgesia still exists. Artificial intelligent Patient-controlled analgesia (Ai-PCA) system can make it easier for medical staff to understand the pain level of patients in order to deal with it in time. So far, several studies have investigated anesthesiologists’ knowledge and management of Ai-PCA.ObjectiveThis study aimed to assess the degree of anesthesiologists’ knowledge, attitude and their practice (KAP) towards Ai-PCA in east China’s Jiangsu Province.MethodsThis cross-sectional study was conducted among 396 anesthesiologists working in tertiary hospitals. The data were collected using a pretested, structured and self-administered KAP questionnaire. The data were analyzed using Independent t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson’s correlation and multiple linear regression tests.ResultsFive hundred twelve questionnaires were collected, 396 anesthesiologists (190 Male, and 206 Female) were included in our study for statistical analysis. The score of knowledge, attitude, practice was 5.49 ((SD = 1.65; range:0–8), 37.45 (SD = 4.46; range:9–45), and 26.41 (SD = 9.61; range:9–45), respectively. Among the participants, 309 (78%) and 264 (66.7%) had good knowledge and positive attitudes toward Ai-PCA, respectively. However, only 81 (20.5%) of the participants exhibited good practice regarding Ai-PCA. Participation in Ai-PCA training showed a significant correlation with knowledge, attitude and practice scores. Besides, age, years of experience and professional titles of anesthesiologists were correlated with knowledge scores. The title of the anesthesiologist was associated with attitude scores. And the marital status of anesthesiologists was correlated with practice scores.ConclusionOur findings revealed the score of practice regarding Ai-PCA are very poor among anesthesiologists in east China’s Jiangsu Province. The utilization of Ai-PCA was found to be impacted by whether the individual had received training. This calls for a comprehensive approach should be conducted for raising the level of knowledge, attitude, and practice of anesthesiologist on using Ai-PCA and more Ai-PCA training to be included in the daily learning.Trial registrationChinese Clinical Trial Registry (www.chictr.org.cn; 27/10/2023; ChiCTR2300077070).

A study of attention allocation mode in clinical decision-making in nurses with different professional titles: an eye tracking experiment

Abstract Background: Attention is an important cognitive process. Cognitive and thinking processes can be explored by examining how attention is allocated and the characteristics of visual behavior. Clinical decision-making skills are the focus of nurses’ knowledge and competency development, and the application of attention allocation modalities and visual behavioral traits in the study of clinical decision-making is lacking. Objective: The aim of this experiment was to investigate the way in which attention is allocated in the clinical decision-making process of nurses of different professional rank and titles and associated factors. Methods: Seventy-six subjects from emergency departments of three hospitals in Beijing were recruited in this experiment using the convenience sampling method, including 28 junior nurses, 24 senior nurses, and 24 supervisor nurses. Subjects were required to complete clinical decisions tasks, and datas on subjects’ visual behavior were recorded and analyzed using a Tobii Pro eye-tracker during the decision-making process. Results: Nurses with high professional titles had a higher correct response rate in the nursing diagnosis and ranking of nursing diagnoses part (P&lt;0.05), and it was found that nurses with high professional titles would pay attention to pathophysiological mechanisms of illness earlier when making decisions (F=3.808, P=0.024).The heat maps showed differences in the attention allocation modes of nurses with different titles during the decision-making process. Conclusions: Lower-titled nurses focused more on the symptoms and signs section when making clinical decisions and paid less attention to the auxiliary examination results section, demonstrating a poorer level of active attention. Nurses with higher titles were relatively more comprehensive in their distribution of attention to patient disease information when making decisions and paid attention to the information in the patient’s auxiliary examination section earlier.

Analysis of influencing factors of risk perception among emergency nurses in China: An observational study.

To understand the current saturation of emergency nurses' risk perception and its influencing factors, and to explore the correlation between emergency nurses' risk perception and nurse's safety behavior. This study is a cross-sectional study. From January 2024 to February 2024 using the questionnaire star online survey method. The convenience sampling method was used to survey nurses in the emergency departments of 5 hospitals in China. Male and female emergency nurses (n = 189) from China were included in the final sample. Nursing risk perception questionnaire and nurses safety behavior scale were used for evaluation. The collected data were comprehensively analyzed using various statistical methods, including descriptive analysis, 2 independent samples t-test mean comparison, 1-way analysis of variance for differences, multiple linear regression analysis to identify influencing factors, and Pearson correlation analyze correlations. All analyses were performed using SPSS version 26.0, and P < .05 was considered statistically significant (2-sided). The emergency nurses score was (87.08 ± 20.18) on the risk perception scale, scoring rate 62.2%. The results of multiple regression showed that age, marital status, education level, professional title, monthly income level, and safety behaviors were the main factors influencing the risk perception of emergency nurses (P < .05). The results of correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between the dimensions of nurses' risk perception and safety behaviors (R = 0.636, P < .01). Age, marriage, education level, years of work experience, professional title, duties. engagement type, monthly income level, participation in teaching work, safety training, and no adverse events were the influencing factors of risk perception. The research results emphasize that risk perception of emergency nurses has a positive prediction effect on safe behavior. It is suggested that nursing managers should optimize nursing workflow and human resource allocation, strategically add occupational risk training to vocational training, and strengthen nurses' safety behaviors.

Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of healthcare professionals toward rehabilitation of peripheral nerve injury

Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) occurs due to damage of peripheral nerves, with healthcare professionals playing significant roles in PNI rehabilitation. This study aimed to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) towards PNI rehabilitation among healthcare professionals. This cross-sectional study was conducted on June 2023 in China and healthcare professionals were enrolled. A total of 611 valid questionnaires were collected, with 62.52% female respondents. Mean scores for KAP were 14.26 ± 2.044 (possible range: 0–19), 29.77 ± 3.622 (possible range: 7–35), and 41.55 ± 9.523 (possible range: 11–55), respectively. Multivariate logistic regression revealed positive associations of professional titles (OR = 1.743, 95% CI: 1.083–2.804), occupation (OR = 1.833, 95% CI: 1.151–2.919), and involvement in treatment or care of PNI patients (OR = 1.462, 95% CI: 1.024–2.088) with knowledge. Knowledge (OR = 1.155, 95% CI: 1.042–1.280), gender (OR = 2.140, 95% CI: 1.255–3.646), education (OR = 2.258, 95% CI: 1.131–4.507), and involvement in treatment or care of PNI patients (OR = 2.463, 95% CI: 1.460–4.155) were positively associated with attitude. Attitude (OR = 1.214, 95% CI: 1.148–1.283), bachelor's degree education (OR = 0.548, 95% CI: 0.326–0.919), master's degree or higher (OR = 0.545, 95% CI: 0.308–0.964), having rehabilitation training for PNI (OR = 2.485, 95% CI: 1.633–3.781), and involvement in treatment or care of PNI patients (OR = 2.093, 95% CI: 1.395–3.138) were independently associated with practice. Healthcare professionals exhibited moderate knowledge, positive attitudes, and moderate practices towards the PNI rehabilitation. Those involved in the treatment or care of PNI have significantly higher KAP. Targeted interventions were needed to enhance understanding and promote proactive engagement in clinical practice.

Factors Influencing the Willingness of Clinical Nurses to Participate in Narrative Nursing: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Narrative nursing (NN) is a crucial component of modern medical humanistic care. It involves utilising storytelling as a means to guide nurses in devising future interventions for patients, and help patients in reconstructing positive psychological defences. The willingness of clinical nurses to engage in narrative nursing holds significant implications for both effective communication and the overall quality of care. However, there is limited knowledge regarding clinical nurses' willingness to engage in narrative nursing. This study aims to investigate the participation willingness of Chinese nurses, identify its predictors and explore its corresponding reasons. A cross-sectional study. Clinical nurses were enrolled in Hunan province, Central South, China, and a convenience sampling strategy was used. A structured questionnaire was distributed to clinical nurses by an online survey platform. Information on sociodemographic characteristics, willingness and possible influencing factors (experience, ability, perceptions on narrative nursing) was collected. Binary logistic regression was conducted to identify the predictors of willingness to participate in narrative nursing. A total of 2310 nurses were recruited, of which 2092 nurses completed the questionnaire (response rate: 90.6%). One thousand seven hundred and thirty-four nurses (82.9%) were willing to participate in NN, and 358 (17.1%) were not. Binary logistic regression analysis identified nine predictors of participants' willingness to participate, including working departments, professional title, working position, experience of received mobilisation and training of NN, understanding of related knowledge, NCS level, affirmation of NN and positive attitude towards clinical application (all p values < 0.05). These indicators explained 17.1% of the variances in the dependent variable (p < 0.001). A high proportion of nurses in Hunan province were willing to practice in clinic using NN. Willingness to participate may be increased by a focus on nurses with low professional titles, no administrative position and working in specialised departments, such as emergency departments, infectious departments, critical care units and operating theatres. The study identified a high proportion of nurses in Hunan Province who were willing to use NN. However, the figure was slightly lower than expected. Influencing factors were analysed to give insights for managers to develop more effective NN outreach programs. No patient or public contribution.
