THE RELATIONSHIP OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THERAPEUTIC COMMUNICATION WITH THE APPLICATION OF THERAPEUTIC COMMUNICATION IN NURSE PROFESSION STUDENTS STIKES MEDISTRA INDONESIA IN 2022

Therapeutic communication facilitates nursing actions by a nurse to patients and minimizes the occurrence of errors and misunderstandings in the process of nursing actions. Good knowledge of therapeutic communication will have a positive impact on nurse behavior. The application of therapeutic communication by nurses is one form of real performance from nurses to patients. This research uses descriptive quantitative method and cross sectional research design. The population in this study was the nursing profession students of the Class of 2017 totaling 89 students who were practicing. The research sample was taken using non-probability sampling purposive sampling type. Research shows that there is a relationship between knowledge of therapeutic communication and application of therapeutic communication to nursing profession students (P value = 0.000) which means there is a significant positive relationship between knowledge of therapeutic communication and application of therapeutic communication. The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge about Therapeutic Communication and the Application of Therapeutic Communication in Indonesian Medical Student Nurse Profession Stikes in 2022.

Relationship of Stressors on Academic Stress in Nursing Profession Students of dr. Soebandi University

Introduction: Nursing professional practice carried out by nursing professional students at dr. Soebandi University after completing the educational stage of the undergraduate nursing program. This professional practice must be completed to obtain competency as a professional nurse. Several stressor factors identified include supervisor, study load, study time and study assignments. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of stressors on academic stress in nursing profession students. Methods: The research design used was a non-experimental design with a descriptive type, where the approach was cross-sectional and carried out at dr. Soebandi University. The sample type in this research is Non-Probability Sample, with a Purposive Sampling method of 30 respondents. Data analysis used the Spearman Rank Correlation test. Results: The hypothesis testing show that study assignments influences the emergence of academic stress. Meanwhile, supervisory factors, study load and study time have no effect on academic stress. Conclusions: Several suggestions can be put forward: providing adequate training to students before carrying out professional practice. Lecturers and supervisors can be more flexible and professional in providing assignments and guidance to students in the nursing profession.

Prevalence of Unhealthy Lifestyles and Its Correlates Among College-Going Students in Rishikesh, India: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Introduction Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have a significant impact on health concerns. The transition from school to college coincides with various stressors,affecting student health. The objective was to assess the prevalence of unhealthy lifestyles among college-going students and examine the association of composite lifestyle scores with selected demographic variables. Methods All undergraduate colleges of Rishikesh were included in the study. Cluster sampling with a population proportionate to size was used to select the participants. A structured questionnaire was administered using Google Forms or pen and paper. Index values for each lifestyle activity were added together to get a lifestyle composite score. An unhealthy lifestyle was considered with a score below 40. Association with risk factors was analyzed using a chi-square test and logistic regression. Results Among 742 participants, 166 (22.4%)lived an unhealthy lifestyle with a lifestyle score of <40. The majority of participants were either underweight or above normal weight. An unhealthy lifestyle was prevalent among fourth-year professional students (7; 58.5%), medical (33; 32%), dental (27; 34.6%), hosteller (79; 36%), and BSc Nursing (21; 56.8%)students. BSc Nursing course (AOR: 11.09; 95% CI: 1.17-104.74) and favorable attitude (AOR: 0.74; 95 % CI: 0.59- 0.93) were significant correlates of unhealthy lifestyles. Conclusion The current study indicates that nearly one-fourth of college students have unhealthy lifestyles. Four factors, i.e., health science stream, advancing professional year, hosteller, and unfavorable attitude towardhealth, were significantly associated with unhealthy lifestyles after adjusting for covariates.

Local food is often fresher and has a higher nutritional content. Local foods have usually adapted to local soil and climate conditions, which makes them easier to grow and process by local people. Local food consumption is often in harmony with the culture and traditions of local communities, which usually have recipes and processing methods that support nutritional balance. The purpose of writing the article is to understand the growth and development of babies and toddlers to grow into healthy children by providing a balanced diet. Community service activities are carried out by professional nurse lecturers who teach community and family nursing courses. Community service together with professional nursing students who are practicing community and family nursing. The counseling and simulation will be held on Friday 12 June 2024 at 09.00 – 12.00 WIB in the Madrasah Marga Jaya room RT 02 RW 05 Kertamaya Village, Bogor City. Local plant ingredients are very useful for maintaining nutritional balance in babies and toddlers. Increasing public interest in using local food ingredients as a source of nutrition requires a multifaceted and integrated approach.

The effect of the roles of clinical educators on patient safety competencies in nursing profession students.

To assess the correlation between clinical educator roles and patient safety competence in nursing students. The cross-sectional study was conducted from December 21, 2021, to June 7, 2022, at the Sultan Agung Teaching Hospital, Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia, and comprised nursing students in the clinical stage of their training. Data was collected using an observation sheet, while the role of clinical educator was explored using a structured questionnaire. Data was analysed using SPSS 21. There were 232 nursing students. Of these, 203(87.5%) were females. The age range of the students included was between 21 and 25 years with an average of 23.14±0.543 years. All the students were hospital oriented and had received training on patient safety measures. Patient safety competencies were related to the roles of resource person (p<0.038), role model (p<0.004), evaluator (p<0.020), facilitator (p<0.006), manager (p<0.013) and supporter (p<0.007). The role of the manager had the most significant effect on patient safety competencies (p<0.001). Patient safety competencies were significantly related to the roles of resource person, role model, evaluator, facilitator, manager and supporter, but the role of the manager had the strongest correlation with patient safety competencies.

Kualitas Tidur dan Hipersomnia Pada Mahasiswa Profesi Ners di Masa Pandemi COVID-19

Background: Poor sleep conditions are common among nursing students, especially those in professional nursing program who have a long duration of clinical practice and direct contact with patients. Various factors have contributed to this condition and the possibility of more severe situation being experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Purpose: The study purpose was to identify factors related to sleep quality and hypersomnia among professional nursing students in time of COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational and cross-sectional design with consecutive sampling on 107 students. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) were the questionnaires in this study. Results: Most of respondents experienced poor sleep quality (78,5%) and high normal hypersomnia (36,4%). There were a significant differences of sleep quality based on ethnicity (H(2) = 11,00; p &lt; 0,01). There were a significant differences of hypersomnia based on ethnicity (F = 5,32; p &lt; 0,01) and knowledge of COVID-19 (F = -2,39; p = 0,02). A significant correlation were found between age with sleep duration (r = -0,19; p = 0,04), daytime dysfunction (r = -0,24; p = 0,01), sleep quality (r = -0,23, p = 0,02), and hypersomnia (r = -0,28; p &lt; 0,01). Conclusion: Poor sleep quality and hypersomnia had high prevalences among professional nursing students. Daytime dysfunction was the worst dimension of sleep quality in this study. Students who were younger, Minahasan, and had more knowledge about COVID-19 also had a poorer sleep status.

The Six Right Principles of Drug Administration to Patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Hospitals: A Case Study

Background: About one-third of adverse events are drug-related medication administration errors (MAE). One method to improve drug administration safety is the application of the six rights of drug administration which include right patient, right drug, correct dose, right time, right route, and proper documentation. Nurses must apply it generously and nursing professional students must be able to use it well too. Purpose: The purpose of this case study is to compare the application of the six right medicine principles between nursing and nursing professional students to Mrs. E with Diabetes Mellitus in Hospital. Methods: This case study uses a quantitative study approach with a comparative descriptive design. Data were obtained through observation for seven days with an observation measuring instrument for applying the six correct drug administration are consist of 33 statements. Respondents were obtained from purposive sampling consisting of 7 Nursing Profession students at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Jember, and seven nurses at the Hospital. Results: The difference in applying the six right principles of drug administration to Mrs. E for seven days (14 shifts) by 11 students and nurses (4.8%). Conclusion: An indicator that still really needs to be improved by students and nurses is the true indicator of patients who are still below 50%. Meanwhile, the other indicators have achieved a total implementation of &gt;70%.

5 Finger Hypnotic Intervention Can Reduce The Stress Of NursesProfessional Students That Will Take The Exam

The average Indonesian Nurse Competency Examination (UKNI) graduation at one of the private universities in Pekanbaru City is still around 80-95%, while UKNI graduation is a graduation requirement for professional student education. Students expressed anxiety in facing UKNI coupled with the experience of many seniors who participated in UKNI more than 2 times (re-takers). The purpose of this community service activity was to overcome the anxiety of professional nurse students in preparation for facing UKNI. This community service activity uses a consultation and counseling approach to the Nurse’s students, totaling 32 people. The intervention carried out was 5-finger hypnosis and psychological consultation with UKNI for 5 working days. Anxiety score assessment using the DASS instrument. The results of this activity obtained a decrease in the anxiety level of nursing profession students by 13.06. This shows that the 5-finger relaxation intervention can be used as an alternative to overcome the anxiety of nursing profession students facing UKNI. It is hoped that nursing education institutions will be able to make a 5-finger hypnosis intervention as a form of consultation to overcome the anxiety of nursing professional students facing UKNI.

Gaps in sexual health content of healthcare professional curriculum: a systematic review of educational interventions

BackgroundSexual health care, including assessment and patient teaching, is part of comprehensive patient care. Health professional (medical and nursing) students’ education in sexual health lacks uniformity in content and assessment skills.ObjectivesThe current systematic review aimed to assess sexual health educational curriculum for health professional students regarding the educational content, duration, and evaluation of these educational interventions.MethodsThis systematic review followed the preferred reporting guidelines for systematic reviews. A comprehensive search was conducted between May–August, 2023 across four databases (PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, EMBASE), outlining 614 sources. Following the screening process, 36 educational intervention studies were deemed eligible for inclusion. The quality assessment of these studies was conducted using The Effective Public Health Project tool, which was found appropriate for evaluating this type of research.ResultsThe studies had a global representation, with most studies conducted in the US. Limited nursing educational interventions were found. Three main categories emerged from the analysis of the educational interventions: one-time interventions, workshops, and semester courses. These categories differed in terms of their duration. Upon evaluating the educational intervention programs, it was found that the majority relied on participant self-reporting, while only a few included objective evaluations.ConclusionsThis review revealed inconsistencies in educational content for healthcare professional students and may impact their clinical skills, particularly in sexual health. The variation in content, duration, and evaluation methods created challenges in assessing the interventions. The lack of standardized sexual health education highlighted a significant gap, raising concerns about students’ ultimate proficiency in this area. Bridging this divide is essential by integrating comprehensive sexual health content and assessment skills into the health professional curriculum.

Caring Improvement with An Analysis of The Causes of Emotional Exhaustion in Professional Students

The demand for quality services to patients and families continues to increase, especially for nursing services, so it requires nurses who have good caring. Students of the nursing profession who are future nurse candidates, cannot be separated from these demands. These demands can have the potential to bring emotional exhaustion to students. Emotional exhaustion can be caused by social support, workload, and self-efficacy. The purpose of this study was to analyze the increase in caring based on the analysis of the causes of emotional fatigue in nursing profession students. The research design in this study is a quantitative method with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study is professional students in two institutions in Jember. The number of samples in this study was 150 respondents, with accidental sampling techniques. Data taken from this study are caring behavior, self-efficacy, support, workload, and emotional exhaustion. In general, the results of this study were found that there was a relationship between social support and emotional fatigue (p-value = &lt;0.0000, B: -0.986), there was a relationship between workload and emotional fatigue (p-value = &lt;0.0000, B: 0.372), there was no relationship between self-efficacy and emotional fatigue (p-value = 0.356, B: -0.84) and there was a relationship between emotional fatigue and caring behavior (p-value = 0.002, correlation coefficient: 0.112). Caring can be improved by means of support from students' families, educational institutions and places of practice and calculating the workload experienced by students when carrying out practice.

A94Starting from scratch, creating a sustainable multi-professional student simulation programme

Simulation Based Education (SBE) is well established across healthcare disciplines. However, the benefits can only be obtained in their entirety if simulation is embedded routinely in the healthcare system [1]. Aim: To create and embed SBE sessions targeted at Nursing and Allied Health Profession students within their placement learning. We collaborated with clinicians to create training sessions covering clinical and transferable skills alongside scenarios that are not covered in university teaching. Attendance of the sessions was voluntary, allocating places on a first come, first served basis. The session format consisted of an initial teaching presentation followed by a simulated scenario, debrief, topic specific activities and a final group discussion. We collated data from students immediately after the session via anonymous, online feedback forms. We have since sent follow up questionnaires to all students we had contact details for who attended a session in 2022. We created and delivered 18 simulation training sessions covering 13 topics, totalling 70 hours of training delivery. A total of 103 students from 6 professional groups participated. The students were in varying stages of their education, belonging to 8 HEIs. We received 74 responses out of the 103 students. Our results showed 99% of students felt the training session met their learning needs and 62.7% found the simulation and debrief the most beneficial part. Additionally, 87.5% found it beneficial working alongside other students and 81.3% reported the session allowed them to gain better understanding of differing professional roles. Students’ confidence levels relating to their ability to manage the clinical scenario significantly increased post simulation with 64.7% rating ‘Somewhat Confident’ and 27.5% rating ‘Extremely Confident’. We received 26 responses to the follow up questionnaire. In total 94% reported they have since applied the skills they learnt in practice. Furthermore, 42.9% stated their experience in our sessions had been influential in considering applying for posts in Trust. Simulation allows NHS students to learn essential clinical skills and collaborative working [2]. Our data proves our sessions are successful in increasing confidence scores, insight into other roles and provided invaluable networking time and peer support. We have created a catalogue of simulations that are sustainable and can be utilized in future student placements. We can also conclude we are not only developing our student NHS population but directly influencing our future workforce in Somerset. Background: Smartphone users are currently growing rapidly. The majority of them are student. Lockdown may trigger the increase of smartphone addiction during pandemic. &#x0D; Objective: The study aim was to determine factors related to smarthphone addiction among professional nursing students in time of COVID-19 pandemic.&#x0D; Method: A descriptive correlational design with cross-sectional approach was applied with 106 students selected using consecutive sampling technique. The study questionnaire was Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version (SAS-SV). Statistical tests used were independent t-test, one-way Anova, and Pearson correlation.&#x0D; Results: There were significant differences of smartphone addiction score based on reason to study nursing (t=-2,95; p&lt;0,01) and purpose to use smartphone (F=2,79; p=0,03). Smartphone addiction was correlated significantly with age (r=-0,31; p&lt;0,01) and duration of smartphone use (r=0,29; p&lt;0,01).&#x0D; Conclusion: Most of the participants were addicted to smartphone. Younger students, choosing nursing education from external direction, using longer duration of smartphone, tended to overuse this device.

Tingkat Pengetahuan Mahasiswa Profesi Ners Angkatan 25 Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta tentang Penyakit HIV/AIDS

This study aims to describe the level of knowledge of class 25 nursing professional students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta regarding HIV/AIDS. The method used is descriptive research with a survey research design. The research results showed that of the 95 respondents, 65 people had a good level of knowledge (68.4%), 27 people had a sufficient level of expertise (28.4%), and three people had a poor level of understanding (3.2%). In conclusion, most students of the 25th batch of nursing profession students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta regarding HIV/AIDS have good knowledge.&#x0D; &#x0D; Keywords: HIV/AIDS, Students, Knowledge

UNDERSTANDING OF RESEARCH METHODS BASED ON EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE IN NURSING FOR NURSING STUDENTS

Evidence-based practice in nursing is a method used to combine research results with clinical experience and values believed by patients and their families in nursing actions that aim to improve the results of nursing care for patients. Students should also be able to apply and have good knowledge of the concept of Evidence-based Practice in nursing in providing comprehensive nursing care, in order to accelerate the patient's healing process. The aim is to determine the understanding of research methods based on evidence-based practice in nursing in nursing students. This research is a descriptive survey research. The research was conducted in May 2023 and the sample in the study was nursing profession students in one of the health education in Palembang city, with a total sample of 41 active students who served in the hospital. the results showed that students' understanding of Evidence-based Practice In nursing with a good categorical as many as 2 people (5%), enough 17 people (42%) and less 22 people (51%). Conclusion, the results indicate the need for assistance to students so that students understand about Evidence-based Practice In nursing. Suggestions for health education institutions provide intensive assistance to students who are committed to applying Evidence-based Practice in nursing.

Background: Heavy burden were experienced by professional nursing students such as academic, financial, and psychological problems. Adequate social support is needed, especially during clinical practice in time of the COVID-19 pandemic.&#x0D; Objective: The study aimed to examine the relationship between sociodemographic factors and social support of professional nursing students during the pandemic.&#x0D; Method: The study design was a descriptive correlational and cross-sectional with 102 samples, recruited using purposive sampling technique from a nursing campus in North Sulawesi. The questionnaire used was the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Independent T-Test, One-Way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation were performed to test the relationship between variables.&#x0D; Results: Social support had significant differences with gender, place of residence, relationship status, religion, and knowledge of COVID-19 (p&lt;0.05).&#x0D; Conclusion: Respondents who received higher social support were female students, living outside their own boarding house or home, having spouse, and having good knowledge of COVID-19.

Case-based learning interventions for undergraduate nursing students in a theoretical course: A review of design, implementation, and outcomes.

Case-based learning (CBL) is a contextualized learning and teaching method that can facilitate active and reflective learning to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. However, nursing educators have some difficulty in creating a CBL environment that matches the diverse professional nursing curriculum and students' needs, including developing relevant cases and appropriate CBL implementation processes. To summarize the case design, implementation process, and their relationship with CBL effectiveness. Electronic databases of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CINAHL, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Wanfang Data (a Chinese database) were searched from inception until January 2022. Study quality was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. A qualitative synthesis was then conducted to summarize the study findings. The systematic mixed studies review included twenty-one quantitative studies, five qualitative studies and two mixed methods studies. The case design and implementation process were indispensable parts of each study, but the application process of CBL in each study was slightly different, basically including case design, preparation, small-group interaction and exploration, collaborative efforts, teacher summary, assignment and teacher feedback. There were three themes in this review that indicate the effect of CBL on students, namely, knowledge, competence and attitude. The present review analyzes the available literature and suggests that there is no common format for the case design and CBL implementation process, but demonstrates that they are an indispensable part of each study. This review provides conceptual procedures for nurse educators to design and implement CBL in nursing theoretical courses to improve the effectiveness of CBL.

Interprofessional primary palliative care: Do the AACN Essentials prepare nurses for collaborative practice?

Palliative care specialists alone cannot meet the rising needs for palliative care. Primary palliative care, delivered interprofessionally by generalist health professionals, is essential to ensure equitable access. Educational competencies and clinical practice guidelines prepare these clinicians to integrate palliative care principles into practice. The purpose of this project was to evaluate how the AACN Essentials prepares entry-level professional nursing students to function as members of the interdisciplinary primary palliative care team, as described in the National Consensus Project (NCP) for Quality Palliative Care Clinical Practice Guidelines. A team of nurse educators utilized a crosswalk mapping process with the Essentials domains, the Competencies and Recommendations for Educating Undergraduate Nursing Students (CARES) statements, and the NCP Guidelines. All eight of the NCP domains align with the Essentials. There were clear areas of overlap between the documents and unique areas of emphasis. This project identifies how educational competencies and clinical guidelines can guide competent palliative care practice. It also describes how nurses are prepared to collaborate in the delivery of palliative care.

The Implementation of Analytic Learning Through Mobile Assisted-Learning Design Toward Academic Performance of Nursing Profession Students

Analytical learning is a series of learning activities that combine practice and research results as a learning design to obtain data that is analyzed and used by educators and students, leading to online learning systems. The use of technology and the internet as a means of learning produces blended course designs, such as mobile learning designs. This research was aim to study the mobile-assisted design inquiry model with an analytic learning approach to students’ academic performance. This research was a correlational study with a cohort prospective design. 236 students met the inclusion criteria selected by purposive sampling. The instrument uses a comprehensive questionnaire in the Computerized Based Test. Data analysis used Fisher’s exact test for analyzing the correlation among the variables and an independent t-test for the result of two types of learning methods. There was a significant difference between online and offline student groups in the competency test tryout scores and a significant relationship between the analytic learning approach and student academic performance with p-value of 0.000 (online students) and 0.007 (offline students). The mobile-assisted design inquiry model learning method with an analytic learning approach through self-reported and observational approaches is effective in the academic performance of professional students.

A Study to assess the perspective of E-learning among nursing students in selected nursing college Thrissur

Introduction: E- learning is used to provide instructional program to students who are separated by distance and from the instructor or teachers. E-learning is a relatively new phenomenon to the nursing profession scenario, currently both the educators and students are under pressure with the idea of its implementation and adaptation respectively due to covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Objective; To assess the perspective of e-learning among nursing students. Methodology; Descriptive study with stratified quota sampling was used to collect data from 225 nursing students. A modified four point Likert Scale was prepared in google form to assess the Perspective of E-learning among nursing students and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Results: Result showed that 127(56.4%) of the students were in the age group of 20 to 22 years, 125(55.6%) nursing students belongs to BSc Nursing, and majority of students 137(60.9%) were the resident of urban area. Most of them 201(89.3%) were using mobile for E - learning and majority of samples 191(84.9%) had no previous experience on E-learning, most of them 156(69.3%) had previous knowledge on computer and 145 (64.4%) were interested in E-earning. majority of the samples 130(57.8%) had medium level of pespectiveness in the quality of information provided through E-learning, most of the samples 194(72%) had medium pespectiveness on perception, 176(78.2%) had perceived the E-learning as beneficial in the provided aspects, majority 154(68.4%) nursing students felt challenges in E-learning perspective and overall 181(80.4%) had medium level of perspective towards E-[earning. It is also found that the sociodemographic variable of previous knowledge on computer technology and interest towards E-learning had significant association with nursing students perspective of E-learning at p value 0.000(p&lt; 0.05). Conclusion: Hence the situation of COVID 19 pandemic or any such like situations online education can be conducted but for a better experience of learning among professional nursing students a blended approach of face to face and online teaching strategies can be used.

Persepsi mahasiswa terhadap praktik profesi ners pada masa pandemi covid-19

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education sector has changed the learning process, which was originally mostly done conventionally, into online learning. Likewise at the stage of nursing professional education. The learning structure of the nursing profession study program is based on clinical practice. However, this cannot be fulfilled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to determine students' perceptions on the nursing professional practice  in Stikes Surya Global Yogyakarta during the covid-19 pandemic. This type of research was qualitative study. Participants were selected by purposive sampling with the inclusion criteria of nursing professional education study program students exposed to offline and online learning, registered in the second semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. Data were collected by means of in-depth interviews. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis. The results showed that students' perceptions were divided into two categories, namely inhibitors and supporters. The inhibiting sub-categories consist of the ineffectiveness of the online learning process, costs, and internet networks. Supporting sub categories consist of studying UKNI questions and updating technology developments. Offline learning was categorized into two, namely inhibiting and supporting. The inhibiting sub-category consists of a lack of facilities and more expenses from students. The supporting sub-categories consist of readiness for field practice, the use of complete PPE, and permission from parents. The conclusion of this study was that the perception of nursing profession students was a description of clinical practice in the online and offline learning process during the covid-19 pandemic.  Keywords: Nursing profession student, covid-19 pandemic, perception
