Preface

Proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Ion Sources, Victoria, BC, Canada, 2023ICIS’23 was the 20th event in a biennial series of conferences that are dedicated to Ion Sources and their applications, and the first in-person conference of this series after the COVID 19 pandemic. The conference was hosted by TRIUMF (www.triumf.ca), Canada’s Particle Accelerator Centre in Victoria, BC, Canada, September 17 to September 22, 2023. The ICIS series covers the physics and technology of ion sources for scientific research and applications. With the conference being the main event within the ion sources community it offers a forum for exchanging of new ideas and establishing of collaborations.The conference was held at the Victoria Conference Centre in Victoria BC, Canada, with support from the adjacent Fairmont Empress hotel. The venue is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Lkwungen People, also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations communities.The biennial conference series covers the physics and technology of ion sources for scientific research and applications. New developments and advancements have been presented and discussed. As in previous conferences of this series, all aspects of ion sources have been covered in the categories:• Fundamental processes in ion sources and plasmas• Production of high intensity ion beams• Production of highly charged ion beams• Negative ion sources• Ion sources for fusion• Radioactive ion sources, charge breeders and polarized beams• Beam formation, extraction, transport, and diagnostics• Applications of ion sources• Key technologies for ion sourcesThe conference was organized in a hybrid mode and a zoom link was made available to participants, who could not attend in person. A total of 178 participants have registered for the conference, of whom 20 were students and 23 attended from remote. Fifty contributions have been presented in plenary sessions of which 20 were invited by the international advisory committee. The remaining 30 have been selected by the Scientific advisory committee. 123 contributions have been presented at 2 poster sessions. The high level and interesting contributions triggered lively discussions during all sessions. Thank you to all who contributed to this.Additional events included a tour of the TRIUMF Laboratory on September 17 just before the conference, and a reception on the same evening. In the afternoon of Wednesday, September 20 delegates were able to enjoy the beautiful surrounding Vancouver Island by either participating in a whale watching tour or a nature hike along the shoreline. In the evening of this day the conference banquet was held in the Fairmont Empress hotel.Fifteen students participated in the student poster competition. Members of both the international advisory committee and the scientific program committee acted as judges. Thank you to all the students who have contributed and the judges. New fractional classifications of papers based on two generations of references and on the ASJC scopus scheme

AbstractThis paper presents and evaluates a set of methods to classify individual Scopus publications using their references back to the second generation, where each publication can be assigned fractionally into up to five ASJC (All Science Journal Classifications) categories, excluding the Multidisciplinary area and the miscellaneous categories. Based on proposals by Glänzel et al. (Glänzel et al., Scientometrics 44:427–439, 1999a, Glänzel et al., Scientometrics 46:431–441, 1999b, Glänzel, W., Thijs, B., & Huang, Y. (2021). Improving the precision of subject assignment for disparity measurement in studies of interdisciplinary research. In: W. Glänzel, S. Heeffer, PS. Chi, R. Rousseau (eds), Proceedings of the 18th International Conference of the International Society of Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI 2021), Leuven University Press, pp. 453–464. https://kuleuven.limo.libis.be/discovery/fulldisplay?docid=lirias3394551&context=SearchWebhook&vid=32KUL_KUL:Lirias&search_scope=lirias_profile&tab=LIRIAS&adaptor=SearchWebhook&lang=en), some additional parameters are established that allow different results to be obtained depending on how category membership is weighted or how the acceptance thresholds for multiple assignments are established. Various classifications are obtained, and then compared with each other, with the original ASJC Scopus journal classification, and with the AAC (Author’s Assignation Collection) classification of a previous study (Álvarez-Llorente et al., Álvarez-Llorente et al., Profesional de la Información, 2023) in which the papers’ corresponding authors assign them the most appropriate categories. Classifications in which a high threshold is set for allowing assignments to multiple categories, combined with the use of first- and second-generation references and averaging over the number of references, provide the most promising results, improving over other reference-based reclassification proposals in terms of granularity, and over the Scopus classification itself in such aspects as the homogeneity of the publications assigned to a category. They also show greater coincidence with the AAC classification.

Perface: Proceedings of the first International Conference on ‘Sustainable Experimentation and Modeling in Civil Engineering (SEMCE-2023)

The current volume comprised the proceedings of the first International Conference on ‘Sustainable Experimentation and Modeling in Civil Engineering (SEMCE-2023)’ which was organized by the School of Civil Engineering, Lovely Professional University, Punjab, India in association with Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar and Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS), Jalandhar Chapter in a hybrid mode during 10th-11th August 2023.Research articles were invited covering six themes Green and Sustainable Construction Materials, Innovation, Infrastructure and Management, Material Recycling and Reuse, Modelling, Simulation and Analysis, Energy and Climate and Water and Sanitation. The two-day event attracted 188 abstracts of research articles, out of which only 125 were selected for conference presentation after peer review. The event witnessed 145 participants including a few ‘attendees only’ also. The primary goal of SEMCE-2023 was to provide a common platform to bridge the gap between researchers, engineers, scientists and industry professionals to initiate an innovative dialogue on academic and technical exchange related to Civil Engineering. Deep-dive deliberations on diverse topics in physical inventions and engineering were also part of the agenda of SEMCE-2023.The success of SEMCE-2023 is attributed to all those who have contributed to the event. Evaluating Datalog Tools for Meta-reasoning over OWL 2 QL

Abstract Metamodeling is a general approach to expressing knowledge about classes and properties in an ontology. It is a desirable modeling feature in multiple applications that simplifies the extension and reuse of ontologies. Nevertheless, allowing metamodeling without restrictions is problematic for several reasons, mainly due to undecidability issues. Practical languages, therefore, forbid classes to occur as instances of other classes or treat such occurrences as semantically different objects. Specifically, meta-querying in SPARQL under the Direct Semantic Entailment Regime uses the latter approach, thereby effectively not supporting meta-queries. However, several extensions enabling different metamodeling features have been proposed over the last decade. This paper deals with the Metamodeling Semantics (MS) over OWL 2 QL and the Metamodeling Semantic Entailment Regime (MSER), as proposed in Lenzerini et al. (2015, Description Logics) and Lenzerini et al. (2020, Information Systems 88, 101294), Cima et al. (2017, Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Web Intelligence, Mining and Semantics, 1–6). A reduction from OWL 2 QL to Datalog for meta-querying was proposed in Cima et al. (2017, Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Web Intelligence, Mining and Semantics, 1–6). In this paper, we experiment with various logic programming tools that support Datalog querying to determine their suitability as back-ends to MSER query answering. These tools stem from different logic programming paradigms (Prolog, pure Datalog, Answer Set Programming, Hybrid Knowledge Bases). Our work shows that the Datalog approach to MSER querying is practical also for sizeable ontologies with limited resources (time and memory). This paper significantly extends Qureshi and Faber (2021, International Joint Conference on Rules and Reasoning, Springer, 218–233.) by a more detailed experimental analysis and more background.

The 4th International Conference on Tropical Silviculture (ICTS) 2023 Indonesia, in particular, grapples with the repercussions of deforestation, manifesting in elevated CO2 emissions, climate change, and the alarming loss of biodiversity. In this context, silvicultural science emerges as a pivotal player in steering forest management towards sustainability. Silvicultural science emerges a very vital role in sustainable forest management. Its vital role lies in preserving the functions of forest ecosystems—habitat, regulation, production, and information dissemination, increasing positive socio-economic impacts, including in terms of maintaining and increasing forest productivity and achieving sustainable development. Indonesian silviculturists are expected to demonstrate a high commitment to reducing national greenhouse gas emissions through applicable knowledge and practices. The study of forest ecosystems necessitates in-depth research, as well as the sharing and dissemination of results to various stakeholders.Recognizing the imperative of disseminating silvicultural studies, the International Conference on Tropical Silviculture (ICTS) stands as a crucial platform. Organized regularly by the Department of Silviculture, Faculty of Forestry and Environment, IPB University, the 4th ICTS embraced a hybrid format on 24 August 2023. With the theme “Bridging Silviculture Knowledge and Practices to Foster the Achievement of SDGs and FOLU NET SINK 2030,” this conference aims to facilitate the exchange of information, knowledge, and innovations. The conference addressed seven key topics, including biodiversity, forest fire and climate change, agroforestry and forest plantation, ecosystem services, non-timber forest products, silviculture approach, and forest degradation and rehabilitation.I extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Rector of IPB University, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, and the Head of the Silviculture Department for their unwavering support, which has been instrumental in ensuring the success of this conference. Formal Methods for Industrial Critical Systems

To stimulate the development and application of formal methods in industry, we need to promote research and development for the improvement of formal methods and tools for industrial applications, and we need to exchange experiences of the industrial usage of these methods and tools. This special issue of Software Tools for Technology Transfer presents various tools and experience reports that are targeting the use of formal methods in industry. The papers in this special issue are extended versions of selected conference papers from the proceedings of the 27th International Conference on Formal Methods for Industrial Critical Systems (FMICS 2022).

We are delighted to present this collection of papers that were presented at the conference held on 29th to 31st August 2023, in Malang City, East Java, Indonesia. The conference aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, scholars, and policy makers from around the world to share their insights and innovations in Tropical Agroforestry.The papers in this volume cover a wide range of Agroforestry research and development topics, including negotiation support for landscape multifunctionality and water security, resilience to shocks of volcanic activity, climate change, covid-19, and changing market demand, food security and human health, and transforming landscapes from delivery of products to a service-based economy, adapting education processes. Each presentation, including the Q&A, was allotted 20 minutes, guaranteeing a lively and participatory atmosphere.Participants, both actual and virtual, contributed enthusiastically to the various sessions hosted on the Google Meet platform. The chairpersons’ and co-hosts’ joint efforts over nine various links facilitated smooth sessions and vibrant debates. A comparative study of game theory techniques for blind deconvolution

The aim of this study is to lay emphasis on the potential of the use of Game theory to deal with Blind image Deconvolution. We consider a static game of two players. Player one controls the image intensity while the player two controls the blur kernel. In this game each player aims at minimizing his own functional. The outcome of the game is a pair of strategies: a deblurred image and an estimation of the blur kernel, that minimizes two functionals. We determine the optimal image deblurring using two particular game theoretic approaches, recently introduced: the Nash method [Meskine D., Moussaid N., Berhich S. Blind image deblurring by game theory. We evaluate the performance of two techniques through numerical experiments and using some objective quality metrics.

비판적 HRD 연구 동향

In this study, we intend to capture diversified and pluralistic views on intellectual territory of CHRD. The central research questions is how CHRD research could be categorized through research papers in AHRD conference proceedings, which enables us to look at the meaning of CHRD on a discursive aspect. For this study, AHRD website (https://www.ahrd.org) was selected and a total of 232 papers included in the proceedings of AHRD international research conference in the Americas in 2009-2021 were collected. As a result, the ten topics are presented using LDA-based topic modeling and intertopic distance map makes five categories with the combination of individual topic as follows; (a) Topic 1 and 8 lie in the first quadrant. They represent understanding and meaning making in HRD with critical perspectives, (b) Topic 6 and 9 lie in the second quadrant. They advocate the nature of CHRD by challenging the status quo in HRD theory and practice. (c) Topic 4 and 7 lie in the third quadrant. They seem to be loosely tied development with organizing/managing in the textual surface, but we propose they show us variation in conceptualizing development in HRD. (d) Topic 2 and 5, Topic 3 and 10 lie in the fourth quadrant. The former covers identity issues, the latter social justice and recognition. In conclusion, CHRD researchers need to embrace multiple truths, politics, emancipation, iconoclasm, complexity as attributes of CHRD concept.

LEGAL PROTECTION OF RIGHTS HOLDERS OF REGISTERED MARKS FROM ISLAMIC LEGAL PERSPECTIVE

Trademarks are valuable assets for companies and individuals, therefore, legal protection of brand rights is very important. In the Trademark Law, it is stated that a brand is a sign that can be displayed graphically in the form of an image, logo, name, letter, word, number, color arrangement in 2 (two) dimensions, or 3 (three) dimensions, hologram sound. or a combination of 2 (two) or more to differentiate between goods and services trading activities. There are provisions that regulate the rights and obligations of registered trademark holders. Famous or unknown brands must be registered. Protection of this brand is not only regulated in positive law but also Islamic law. This research is empirical juridical research by conducting field research. Deep data collection methods.This research uses documentation, and the data obtained is then analyzed descriptively qualitatively through data reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions or verification.From the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that trademark rights for goods/services in Islam are seen as assets whose ownership rights must be protected from things that are detrimental to the brand owner. Brands that have been protected in Islam must also comply with the provisions of the Koran and Hadith as well as the ijtihad of ulama. The Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Modern Technologies in Agricultural Sciences (4th-ICMTAS) are encompassed within this Volume. The event was organized by the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Kufa in Iraq. From September 20th to September 21st, 2023, the city of Kufa in Najaf, Iraq.The primary objective of the Conference was to facilitate the sharing of expertise among prominent specialists in the domains of high-tech geochemical, geological, geophysical, and information technologies in various sectors such as agriculture, energy, oil and gas engineering, environmental management and engineering, mining, and soil processing technologies. Additionally, the conference aimed to explore contemporary areas of biodiversity research and conservation methods for sustainable development. It also sought to examine the environmental impact of food production and sustainable systems of food technologies. Other topics of interest included agroforestry, environmental safety, green technologies, and the management of natural resources.The Conference was structured according to the following guidelines:The academic disciplines encompassed in this list include ecology, plant protection, horticulture and forest ecology, agronomy and medicinal plants, food technology and sustainability of food security, sustainability of animal production techniques, sustainability of soil and water resources, agricultural mechanization techniques, and renewable energy resources, as well as techniques of agricultural economic and social sciences.The primary objectives of the conference were to offer lecturers and researchers from across Iraq a platform to disseminate their research on an international scale, engage in discussions pertaining to technological advancements and innovative engineering solutions in the fields of farming and irrigation, and contribute to the global academic community by providing open access information on the current state of agriculture in Iraq.A total of 722 submissions were submitted by scientists and practitioners from Iraq as well as international contributors.All of the papers underwent a rigorous process of peer assessment. Introduction to the Special Issue on Runtime Verification

AbstractRuntime verification (RV) refers to methods for formal reasoning about all aspects of the dynamic execution of systems, including hardware, software, and cyber-physical systems. RV includes techniques to assess and enforce correctness of a system against systemic bugs or extrinsic uncertainties. These methods are typically considered lightweight as they may not involve exhaustive verification or proofs, but they provide a higher level of rigor and versatility compared to conventional testing methods. This article introduces the extended versions of selected papers from the peer-reviewed proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Runtime Verification (RV 2020). RV 2020 was supposed to be held in Los Angeles, California, USA in July 2020, but was instead held virtually due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The 2nd International Conference in Environmental Design, Urbanism, and Architecture in Asia (Eduarchsia) 2022 has been hosted by the Department of Architecture at Islamic University of Indonesia. We honourably welcome our keynote and invited speakers Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Numan from Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University Istanbul, Turkey, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Altrock from the University of Kassel, Germany, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marcus Hackel from Wismar University, Germany, Prof. Matteo Motti, Ph.D. from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, Prof. Tetsu Kubota from Hiroshima University, Japan, Assist. Prof. Dr. Revianto Budi Santosa from Islamic University of Indonesia, and Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, Ph.D. from the University of Indonesia.Global challenges faced by humanity such as climatic change and more recently the pandemic situation has twofold impacts. On one hand, there is an increasing awareness that we share the earth as our common home, in which we all play the custodian roles, but also compete with one another for exploitation. On the other hand, we are facing an unprecedented degree of uncertainty which makes it difficult to establish a common platform of global knowledge and patterns of collaborations.This conference addresses the above situations by challenging the current knowledge and practices in architecture as a broad field of understanding and creating places for humans to thrive. A new way of understanding the earth as our common ground while maintaining the local existence is necessary in order to deal with the variety and uncertainty of the situations. Each locality or other forms of small groups should be able to respond to this with agility and to be ready to engage in larger collaborative efforts. Humanities should deal with these multiple uncertainties in a number of ways, remapping the knowledge, technology, practice and education. Re-defining the new concept of sustainability is essential to provide a more agile and flexible concept to deal with uncertainties, as well as a more comprehensive notion to include spiritual and cultural well-being of the people. The disparity of access of resources and knowledge are also discussed as overcoming these ever-widening gaps is necessary to achieve the goals, being supported among others by advanced and appropriate technologies.Environmental Health is being a serious issue to discuss as it directly faces the challenge of pandemic situation requiring a thorough re-consideration of architecture in many respects. This topic may encompasses the discussion on advanced-technology, the strategies devised in design and new way in understanding space and its associated functions to achieve such new standard of quality.Among the fundamental resources that should be fairly shared and wisely managed on the earth is energy which include the way we improve the consumption and production of energy. Some exemplary cases of local strategies in dealing with energy can be promoted as global lessons. Wisely designed and managed, we may reverse the roles of building and built-environment from energy consumption to energy provision, which might be enhanced by applying passive strategy.It is our hope that the 2nd Eduarchsia would be able to achieve its objective in providing an effective forum for academician, researchers, and practitioners to advance in knowledge, research, and technology for humanity. With humanity, we change to the better environment and a better life. Last but not least, my deepest gratitude goes to the Advisory Board, Organizing Committee, International Scientific Committee, institutions, companies, and volunteer who have directly and indirectly supported the success of this seminar. The committee has organized a vibrant scientific program and is working hard to present highly respected and internationally notorious speakers to lead it. The papers in this issue comprise the proceedings of the 2nd Biennial International Conference for the Craft Sciences, held 20–22 September 2023 in Mariestad at the Craft Laboratory, affiliated with the Department of Conservation, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Craft is an integral aspect of daily life and work, activated in all the knowledgeable processes of making and transforming ideas into artefacts and services. Craft is commonly anticipated as a form of production, but it may also be practiced as a social and political activity and as a way of knowing and being in the world. Craft is omnipresent and multi-folded. Consequently, craft research is diverse, conducted across and within different disciplines and academic contexts, and operates with distinct perspectives and approaches.
