Meningkatkan Sikap Kritis Siswa dengan Metode PBL Berbantuan Video Pembelajaran pada Fase E Kelas X di SMK Negeri 1N Hiliserangkai

This study aims to improve the critical attitude of students in class X Phase E at SMK Negeri 1 Hiliserangkai, Nias, by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method assisted by learning videos. The PBL method, which places students at the center of learning by exposing them to real problems, is expected to overcome students' passivity and improve critical thinking skills, especially in responding to information from mass media. This study used a Classroom Action Research (PTK) design in two cycles, involving 15 Catholic students. Data were collected through tests, observations, and interviews. The results showed that the application of PBL was effective in improving students' critical attitude towards mass media. This study recommends the application of the PBL method in other schools and the need for teacher training to support effective implementation.

Upaya Meningkatkatan Hasil Belajar Peserta Didik Kelas II SDN 2 Batu Buil dalam Pembelajaran Pak Melalui Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL)

This research aims to improve learning outcomes for Catholic Religious Education and Character through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in class 2 of SDN 2 BatuBuil in the 2024/2025 academic year. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The material discussed is "God Gave Me a Family" with a focus on activities and positive attitudes towards family. The research subjects were 8 grade 2 students. Data was collected through observation and tests. The results show an increase in learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II, with significant changes in the affective aspect. In cycle I, only 2 students were proficient, while in cycle II this increased to 4 students. The post-test results also showed improvement: in cycle I, 3 students were in the undeveloped category, while in cycle II there were no students in that category, with 5 students reaching the advanced category. The application of PBL has proven to be effective in increasing students' understanding and skills in applying the values ​​taught.

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education learning through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model in class IV of SD Negeri 01 Saibi Samukop. The problem raised is the low understanding of students on the Ten Commandments material, which results in unsatisfactory learning outcomes. The research method used is classroom action research with two cycles, which include planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes, with the average final test score increasing from 65 to 85 after the application of PBL. The conclusion of this study is that PBL is effective in improving students' understanding of teaching materials. The recommendation given is for teachers to apply PBL consistently and conduct training to improve teaching skills in the context of problem-based learning.

Peningkatan Keaktifan Siswa Melalui Penerapan Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada Materi "Aku Memiliki Kemampuan" di SMP Negeri 7 Sintang

Student engagement in learning plays a crucial role in enhancing material comprehension and learning motivation. Active students are more likely to engage in critical thinking, participate in discussions, and solve problems presented to them. However, in many schools, student engagement remains low due to passive teaching methods, such as lectures. To address this issue, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method is implemented. PBL encourages students to actively solve real-world problems relevant to their lives, thereby increasing their involvement and participation in the learning process. This research aims to improve the engagement of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 7 Sintang on the Aku Memiliki Kemampuan topic through the application of PBL. The results indicate that PBL successfully enhanced student engagement, with student participation increasing from 30% in the initial condition to 85% after two learning cycles. Additionally, the students' average scores significantly improved. Thus, PBL is proven effective in enhancing both student engagement and learning outcomes.

This study aims to improve the learning of Catholic Religious Education in class X Tari at SMK Negeri 1 Kasihan, which was initially dominated by the less interactive lecture method, affecting the motivation and learning outcomes of students. To overcome this, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method assisted by video media is applied, which involves active students in solving problems relevant to everyday life. The research was conducted in two cycles, with PBL steps such as problem orientation, individual and group investigation, and presentation and evaluation of results. The results showed significant improvements in the cognitive, skill and affective aspects of learners. The cognitive average score of the group task increased by 11.2%, from 79.7 in cycle I to 90.8 in cycle II, while the individual task increased by 12%, from 76.8 to 89. In terms of skills, the average score increased by 13%, from 76 to 88. The affective aspect also experienced a significant increase of 23.2%, from 63.4 to 88. The application of PBL assisted by video media proved effective in improving students' learning outcomes, both in terms of critical thinking, responsibility, and understanding and application of Catholic teachings. This study recommends the use of PBL method and video media as an effective learning strategy to improve the quality of learning Catholic Religious Education and Cultivation.

Meningkatan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Kelas X Melalui Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning di SMK Pertukangan Santo Yusup

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the critical thinking skills of Grade X students at SMK Pertukangan Santo Yusup by applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The background for this research is the previously low critical thinking skills of students, who tended to be passive and less actively involved in the learning process. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) divided into two cycles, Cycle I and Cycle II, covering the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, observation results showed that most students were still in the low category of critical thinking skills, with only a few reaching the "Proficient" category. After improvements in the second cycle, there was a significant increase. The number of students able to think critically in the "Proficient" category rose to 47%, and many students began to analyze, evaluate, and argue more effectively. The study also proved that the application of PBL increased students' active involvement in learning. They became more engaged in group discussions, problem-solving, and independent problem analysis. The classroom atmosphere also became more dynamic, with more positive interactions between students and between students and teachers. In conclusion, the PBL model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. The recommendations are to strengthen the implementation of PBL, develop relevant learning materials, provide sufficient time for learning, and conduct regular evaluations to ensure continuous improvement. With proper implementation, PBL can be further developed to help students hone their critical thinking skills.

The results of the study show a significant improvement in students' critical thinking abilities, particularly in identifying problems, formulating relevant solutions, and evaluating information logically. of Catholic Religious Education and Ethics aims to shape students into individuals who have faith, piety, and noble character. This research focuses on increasing the spiritual potential of students through the introduction and cultivation of religious values. However, the lecture method that has been used has resulted in low motivation and student learning outcomes. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Parapat with the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model to improve student independence and learning outcomes. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles. The results of the pre-test showed that only 2 out of 6 students were complete. In the first cycle, there was an increase in the average score to 76.7 with classical completeness of 70%. In the second cycle, the average grade increases to 100%, with 100% of students achieving completion. This study concludes that the PBL method is effective in improving student learning outcomes, independence, and creativity. The advice for teachers is to apply the PBL method consistently, for students to actively seek learning resources, and for schools to recommend PBL methods in each subject. This research emphasizes the importance of further development in the application of PBL for religious education.

Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar PAKAT Melalui Model Problem Base Learning Fase D Kelas VII SMP Negeri 23 Kota Surakarta

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving learning outcomes for Catholic Religious Education (PAK) among seventh-grade students in Phase D at SMP Negeri 23 Surakarta. The Classroom Action Research (CAR) method was used with two cycles to evaluate the effectiveness of PBL in enhancing student learning outcomes. The research shows an improvement in learning outcomes, covering cognitive, psychomotor, and critical reasoning affective aspects. In Cycle I, only 25% of students were categorized as proficient in the cognitive aspect, but this increased to 63% in Cycle II. Psychomotor aspects, such as journal writing and prayer formulation, also showed significant progress. In terms of affective skills, students capable of critical reasoning increased from 25% in Cycle I to 75% in Cycle II. The application of PBL also encouraged the development of soft skills like leadership, teamwork, and self-confidence. In conclusion, the PBL model enhances students' critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity while strengthening their understanding of PAK material.

This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of 3rd grade elementary school students in Catholic Religious Education subjects, especially the material "I am a Unique Personality", through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) was carried out in two cycles with 5 students as research subjects. The research results showed an increase in the percentage of learning completion from 40% in the pre-cycle to 80% in the second cycle, as well as an increase in student learning activities from 60% to 100%. The application of PBL has proven to be effective in improving students' conceptual understanding, critical thinking abilities and problem solving skills in a small class context.

Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar PAK Melalui Model PBL pada Fase B Kelas IV SDN 13 Terepong

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of Catholic Religious Education of fourth grade students of SDN 13 Terepong through the application of problem-based learning (PBL) model. Based on initial data, only 30% of students met the criteria for achieving learning objectives, while the remaining 70% were still below the threshold. The learning model that has been used is teacher-centered, less varied, and the limited facilities and skills of teachers in using technology contribute to low student involvement in learning. PBL was chosen as a solution because it involves students actively in solving problems, improving critical thinking skills, collaboration, and connecting subject matter with everyday life. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles. In the first cycle, only 30% of students reached the category of “Proficient, 50% proficient, 20% decent and 0% just developing. “Through more intensive guidance, in the second cycle, there was an increase where 50% of students reached the category of “Proficient and Proficient”. The results of this study indicate that the application of PBL can improve student learning outcomes in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Students are more actively involved in the learning process, showing improvement in concept understanding, critical thinking skills, and collaboration. Therefore, PBL proved to be an effective method to improve the quality of PAK learning at SDN 13 Terepong, especially on the material “I am a Unique Person.”

This study aims to explore and analyze the application of problem-based learning (PBL) models in improving the creativity of grade 3 students at SDN 101857 Gunung Rintih. In the current educational context, it is important for students to not only receive information, but also develop critical thinking skills and creativity that can help them face challenges in the real world. The PBL model is designed to invite students to be actively involved in the learning process by identifying real problems that are relevant to life. Through a series of structured activities, students are encouraged to work in groups, discuss ideas, and find solutions together. This approach not only strengthens students' analytical abilities but also builds social and collaborative skills that are important for their development. In this study, data collection methods will involve observation, interviews, and questionnaires to assess the increase in students' creativity and problem-solving skills. It is hoped that the results of this study will show that the application of PBL can significantly improve students' creativity and facilitate their growth in academic and social aspects. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective curriculum and learning practices at the elementary education level.

This research aims to improve student learning outcomes through the application of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Catholic Religious Education, especially in the material "The Church as a Sign and Means of Salvation". Using a classroom action research approach, this study was conducted in two cycles with 18 grade VIII students at SMP NEGERI 1 PABULUAN during the 2024/2025 school year. Data is collected through observation, tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of PBL increased student engagement, with 70% of students actively participating in discussions and 65% showing improved critical thinking skills. The average test score increased from 65 in the initial condition to 72.5 in the first cycle, with 65% of students achieving the minimum completeness criteria. Character development in terms of Caring, Confident, and Professional (P3) also shows a positive trend. Although not all success indicators were achieved in the first cycle, significant improvements were observed in several aspects. The study concluded that PBL has the potential to improve student engagement and critical thinking skills in Catholic Religious Education, with recommendations for further optimization in the second cycle.

Evaluating the Quality of Research on Problem-based Learning in Korean English Classrooms

Alongside the increasing concern of the Korean state in preparing for the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) era, Korean national (English language) curricula are being reconstructed to educate students about criticality, creativity, communication, and collaboration. Problem-based learning (PBL) is one of the effective pedagogical approaches to facilitate these competencies alongside different disciplines including English language competency. Thus, teachers and teacher educators in Korean English language teaching (ELT) need quality-assured research cases that address PBL-based ELT programmes in the Korean context for their references. In this study, the qualities of research on PBL-based ELT programmes in Korea are systematically reviewed, focusing on aspects of the statement of research purposes, conceptual frameworks of PBL, procedures of PBL application, evaluation of the PBL effects, and revealed limitations, and implications for improvement. Based on the findings, implications for improving research on PBL in Korean ELT are discussed.

Efforts to Increase Students' Problem-Solving Abilities Through the Application of PBL Assisted by Virtual Laboratory on the Hydrostatic Pressure Concept

This research aims to enhance the problem-solving abilities of class XI students at MAS Wahdah Islamiyah Tilongkabila using a problem-based learning (PBL) model through the Classroom Action Research method. The collected data includes students' problem-solving abilities, student activities, and teacher activities. The instruments used were observation sheets for teacher and student activities, final tests (post-tests) on students' problem-solving abilities, and interviews. The average percentage of teacher activity observations increased from 65.6% in cycle I to 93.7% in cycle II, marking a 28.1% improvement. Student activity rose from an average of 56.75% in cycle I to 89% in cycle II, reflecting a 32.2% increase. Additionally, students' problem-solving abilities improved from an average of 58.6% in cycle I to 84.3% in cycle II, a 25.7% increase. The application of PBL, assisted by a virtual laboratory on the concept of hydrostatic pressure, significantly enhances students' problem-solving skills.

Medical education challenges in Mainland China: An analysis of the application of problem-based learning

Background The medical education system in mainland China faces numerous challenges and the lack of learner-centered approaches may contribute to passive learning and reduced student engagement. While problem-based learning (PBL) is common in Western medical schools, its feasibility in China is questioned due to cultural differences. This systematic review aims to summarize the application of PBL in medical education in mainland China based on existing literature, as well as to identify the challenges and opportunities encountered in its implementation. Methods A systematic literature review was conducted using electronic databases, including MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Web of Science, Wan fang and CNKI databases. Grey literature sources were explored using Google Scholar. The search was limited to articles that include at least one English abstract up to May 1st, 2023. The inclusion criteria were studies that reported the use of PBL in medical education in mainland China. Results A total of 21 articles were included in the final analysis. The findings indicate that PBL is a well-adopted and effective learning method in most medical education, especially for developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. However, the application of PBL in mainland China is limited due to various challenges, including faculty resistance, inadequate resources and cultural barriers. To effectively address these challenges, it is essential to provide faculty training, develop appropriate assessment methods to evaluate student progress within the PBL framework and create conducive spaces and resources that support collaborative learning and critical thinking. Conclusion The utilization of PBL in mainland China holds potential for enhancing medical education. However, its successful implementation requires significant efforts to address the identified challenges. It is crucial to engage stakeholders in a collaborative effort to promote the application of PBL and ultimately improve the quality of medical education in mainland China.

Enhancing Students’ Geometry Learning Outcomes and Critical Thinking Skills through the Implementation of Problem Based Learning Model

To enhance students' critical thinking abilities, it is essential to adopt an interactive learning model where students actively participate, and the instructor acts as a facilitator. This can be achieved through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in the teaching and learning process. This study aimed to evaluate the improvement of learning outcomes and critical thinking skills through the application of the PBL model among students. Conducted as classroom action research, it involved 40 students from Yogyakarta State University. The research comprised two cycles, each consisting of two sessions. Instruments used included observation sheets for learning implementation, critical thinking assessment sheets, and tests. Data analysis was performed quantitatively using descriptive analysis methods. The findings revealed that (1) the learning process was effectively implemented, with observation data from both cycles rated as good, with a mode of 4 (good); (2) students' learning outcomes improved, with the average post-test scores increasing from 70.85 in Cycle 1 to 80.63 in Cycle 2; (3) students' critical thinking skills also enhanced, with the average score rising from 68.54 in Cycle 1 to 82.08 in Cycle 2. The conclusion of this study is that implementing PBL in the learning process can significantly enhance both critical thinking and learning outcomes. The research implies that teachers' professional competence can be developed through the application of PBL. It is recommended that teachers integrate the PBL model into their teaching practices to foster students' higher-order thinking skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, and scientific reasoning abilities.

The effectiveness of problem-based learning and case-based learning teaching methods in clinical practical teaching in TACE treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma in China: a bayesian network meta-analysis

PurposeTo investigate the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) and case-based learning (CBL) teaching methods in clinical practical teaching in transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) treatment in China.Materials and methodsA comprehensive search of PubMed, the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database, the Weipu database and the Wanfang database up to June 2023 was performed to collect studies that evaluate the effectiveness of problem-based learning and case-based learning teaching methods in clinical practical teaching in TACE treatment in China. Statistical analysis was performed by R software (4.2.1) calling JAGS software (4.3.1) in a Bayesian framework using the Markov chain-Monte Carlo method for direct and indirect comparisons. The R packages “gemtc”, “rjags”, “openxlsx”, and “ggplot2” were used for statistical analysis and data output.ResultsFinally, 7 studies (five RCTs and two observational studies) were included in the meta-analysis. The combination of PBL and CBL showed more effectiveness in clinical thinking capacity, clinical practice capacity, knowledge understanding degree, literature reading ability, method satisfaction degree, learning efficiency, learning interest, practical skills examination scores and theoretical knowledge examination scores.ConclusionsNetwork meta-analysis revealed that the application of PBL combined with the CBL teaching mode in the teaching of liver cancer intervention therapy significantly improves the teaching effect and significantly improves the theoretical and surgical operations, meeting the requirements of clinical education.

Application of problem-based learning in marketing studies combined with silver-haired business opportunities

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is an approach that focuses on practical problem-solving and places the student at the center of the learning process. Students work collaboratively in groups to apply theoretical concepts and solve problems. The instructional process consists of two main phases, with each class session divided into two units: teacher-led instruction and group discussions. During the teacher-led instruction unit, the teacher provides explanations of relevant marketing theories. In the group discussion unit, students engage in discussions related to the presented topics. To facilitate these discussions and familiarize students with the PBL teaching model, JAMBOARD and GOOGLE SITE software are utilized as tools during the first phase. In the second phase, the curriculum incorporates the topic of "silver-haired business opportunities" allowing students to gain an understanding of the needs of the old adults and develop marketing strategies specifically targeting this demographic. The effectiveness of PBL in enhancing students' focus, autonomy, learning value, and importance is demonstrated through the application of the Learning Motivation Scale and Learning Attitude Scale. Qualitative research highlights several advantages of PBL in marketing education, including its connection to real markets, promotion of cooperation, fostering of innovation and critical thinking, facilitation of autonomous and interdisciplinary learning, and enhancement of problem-solving abilities. Additionally, a fuzzy Delphi analysis indicates that students highly value effective teaching in the PBL experience.
