Bilingual Teaching Practice and Research on Principles of Automatic Control Course

With the accelerating process of economic globalization, China’s requirements for various types of talent are also increasing. There is a demand for engineering talents to have bilingual abilities. Implementing bilingual teaching for engineering students has become a major point of teaching reform in universities and a major measure to cultivate bilingual talents in engineering. This article will focus on the course Principles of Automatic Control, explain the significance of bilingual teaching, analyze the current difficulties faced by bilingual teaching in this course and propose corresponding countermeasures. The aim is to explore relevant teaching strategies, construct high-quality bilingual teaching classrooms for this course, cultivate high-quality bilingual scientific and technological talents for the country and promote rapid economic development in China.

Design and development of MEMS quartz gyroscope measurement and control circuit with automatic gain control principle

Angular velocity is a very important measurement parameter for autonomous driving and industrial applications. The design of MEMS quartz gyro measurement and control circuit has always been the key to restricting the measurement angular velocity performance of gyro system. This paper introduces the application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design and implementation of a MEMS quartz gyro measurement and control circuit for angular velocity measurement. The designed nonlinear multiplier can use a square wave to drive the gyro’s sensitive structure at the beginning of gyro start-up, thereby reducing the gyro power-up time. The drive circuit replaces the PLL with an automatic gain control unit composed of peak detection and proportional integration (PI) controller, which makes the MEMS gyro system have good robustness. First, SIMULINK is used to model and simulate the MEMS gyroscope system-level model, which illustrates the feasibility of the drive circuit design scheme. Then, the operating principle of the drive loop is analyzed, and the design of the key circuit modules of the measurement and control circuit is introduced. Finally, the performance of the gyroscope drive and detection circuit is experimentally tested, the amplitude and frequency uncertainty of the gyroscope drive circuit are evaluated, and the bias instability and nonlinearity of the gyroscope are tested, the experiment results show that the gyroscope has good performance.

Theoretical and Practical Investigation of Stability Performance for Power Regulation in Hydroelectric Power Plants

Hydroelectric power plants are the insurance of the interconnected system in order to provide fast energy to the system compared to other fossil fueled power plants. Hydroelectric power plants control the balance between the energy it supplies to the interconnected system and the pressurized water it uses with a system based on the fully automatic control principle. The quality of the energy supplied to the interconnected system depends entirely on this automatic control mechanism. In this study, mathematical models of the mechanisms that affect the automatic control system during the generation of energy in hydroelectric power plants are formed. Transfer functions of the obtained mathematical models are calculated by laplace transform. With the calculated transfer functions, the responses of the units of a hydroelectric power plant to the change of the amount of energy produced under different operating conditions are determined. The obtained data are compared with the actual conditions in a 1330 MW hydroelectric power plant with 8 Francis turbines. It is seen that the mathematical model and the turbine responses in real conditions are similar. In the calculations made at 115, 125, 135, 145 m. net head, the best stability conditions were obtained at 135 m. In addition, as a result of the calculations obtained under different operating conditions, ideal operating conditions are determined to minimize the fluctuations in energy production.

Teaching Reform and Practice of “<i>The Principle of Automatic Control</i>” as a First-Class Undergraduate Course

The Principle of Automatic Control course is the core course of the automation majors. In accordance with the key points of developing the first-class undergraduate course, the teaching team has carried out timely teaching reform to enhance the advanced, innovative and challenging features of the course. A teaching mode combining online and offline activities has been developed to reflect the “student-oriented and teacher-led” teaching philosophy. It adopts the teaching method of problem-based learning. Questions are used throughout the online and offline processes. Teachers should assign questions, and students should discuss the questions and learn cooperatively. In this way, it can help students to better understand the learning content, flexibly apply the knowledge they have learned, and enhance their ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. At the same time, teachers should grasp the main channel of classroom teaching, actively explore the ideological and political education of the course, and put equal emphasis on knowledge transfer and value leadership. In this way, teachers can work hard to foster professional and technical talents that meet the needs of society in the context of the new engineering discipline.

Features of bismuth telluride based ternary alloys for thermoelectric applications

The presented article provides a comparative analysis of the methods of manufacturing technology for semiconductor branches of p- and n-type conductivity. For comparative analysis, a method is considered for obtaining ternary alloys based on the Bi2Te3 base material by pressing and zone melting. The sequence of the manufacturing process, the principles of operation and design of devices used to obtain alloyed substances, as well as methods for studying and measuring the electrophysical parameters of the thermoelement legs included in the assembled thermopile are described. The principles of automatic temperature control of an electric furnace by a two-position method are indicated. The advantages of the zone melting method are determined and the best values of the figure of merit of a thermoelectric material are shown. It is proved that the original values of the parameters of the branches are preserved after they are assembled into a battery.

Dynamic iterative method for sequential module steady-state modeling and its application to the fluid catalytic cracking unit

BackgroundProcess modeling of chemical systems has important directive significance to the analysis and optimization of actual production processes and the improvement of economic efficiency. However, existing iterative methods struggle with initial value selection and lack of generality when applied in modeling with the sequential module method, making it challenging to solve both unconstrained and constrained iterative problems in the modeling. Therefore, it is necessary to design a new iterative method. MethodsA dynamic iterative method for sequential module steady-state modeling is proposed. The sequential module method is used to establish a steady-state sequential model of a chemical system, and a dynamic feedback link is added outside the model. This feedback link can make its iterative output converge to the next step system output by learning the deviation between two or more steps in the iterative process, thus ensuring the convergence of the process modeling and improving the iteration speed of the modeling. In order to improve the generality of the dynamic iterative method and reduce the difficulty of selecting the initial value of iteration, both proportional and integral actions are added to this method according to the principle of automatic control. Significant FindingsThe modeling results show that adding dynamic feedback links outside the model effectively resolved the algebraic loop problem and improved the speed of system convergence. The inclusion of both proportional and integral actions in the dynamic iterative method effectively reduced the sensitivity to initial value and improved the generality of the method. This method is applied to the fluid catalytic cracking unit reaction-regeneration system and its effectiveness is demonstrated by solving both unconstrained and constrained iterative problems.

CONTROLLING OF THE SOLVENT RECYCLING OPERATION IN THE WASHOUT OF PHOTOPOLYMER PRINTING FORMS

Printing production, like many other industries, is a source of waste that requires attention in terms of environmental impact. First of all, this applies to liquid waste as a result of the process of manufacturing flexographic photopolymer forms, because such solutions are mixtures of organic solvents that are hazardous toxic substances. Accordingly, developments in the direction of recycling such solutions will minimize their harmful effects on the environment and increase the technology’s energy efficiency through their reuse. Based on previous developments of a heterophase emulsion solvent and a washing device with the function of separation into fractions of a solution saturated with photopolymer by a ventilated separator, the principle of automatic control of the recycling operation using fuzzy logic is proposed. For such factors of the studied process in the form of linguistic variables as "Temperature of the leaching solution" and "Viscosity of the leaching solution" universal sets, corresponding terms are established and a fuzzy knowledge base is formed using the condition "If–Then". The output result is the linguistic variable "Quality of the leaching process". Using the Fuzzy Logic Toolbox system of the MATLAB technological calculation environment, membership functions were built, a knowledge base was formed, the diffusion operation was carried out using the "centre of gravity" method and a model of the influence of temperature and viscosity of the washing solution on the process of washout photopolymer printing plates was obtained. The model indicates the adequacy of the given knowledge base, which characterizes the process of leaching photopolymer forms. The numerical values obtained for processing by the fuzzy controller will determine the control action for the separator's automatic separation of the spent leachate.

Single-Input Single-Output System with Multiple Time Delay PID Control Methods for UAV Cluster Multiagent Systems

Multiagent has become a multidomain intersecting hot issue as artificial intelligence technology has advanced in the industrial sector. Multiagent system creation control has lately undergone a lot of academic research, and it has got applications in a wide range of fields, including drag reduction, monitoring, telecommunications relay, and searching. A matrix theory using algebraic graph theory for automatic control principle learning is proposed based on multiagent system collaborative control strategy method to study the application of PID control method in human-machine cluster multi-intelligence system. The method first presents the determination of the stability set of the low-order controller parameters for the multidelay single-input single-output system with complex coefficients; through matrix theory, the multi-intelligence system is decomposed into multiple subsystems and the problem is transformed into subsystem stability analysis problem; thus, the complexity of the system is reduced. It has been proved that the power system device adopted by the UAV hardware platform can make the UAV flight time up to 24.7 min and additional load up to 1.5 kg. Based on the simulation analysis of PID control algorithm, the PID parameters of UAV are adjusted, which improves the parameter tuning efficiency and enhances the response speed of UAV to error and the stability of motion. The experimental findings suggest that the UAV hardware platform in the UAV control system has high dynamic performance. Good PID settings allow the UAV to respond to control orders quickly and correctly; also, the data received by the sensor decrease the complexity of operating several UAVs at the same time and minimize the operators’ burden.

Automatic Control System of Bitumen and Aggregate Distribution with Synchronous Component Distribution

High-quality surface treatment of highways requires state-of-the-art technology ensuring the rational technological process. It is the first time that a Bitumen and Aggregate Spreader (BAS) is considered in this article as a set of inter-related controlled systems serving one final purpose – building rough and protective wearing layers on road surfaces. Such approach allowed considering bitumen and aggregate spreader and its peculiar input and outputting characteristics as one unit that can be managed according to the principles of automatic control, which permits extending its functional capabilities. One of the main BAS assemblies with synchronous component spread is presented herewith, i.e. aggregate preparation and spread unit. This paper discloses the main stages of BAS parameter calculation, as well as the discovered and experimentally confirmed correlation ratios for further calculations of its main parameters serving as the input data for BAS automatic control system functioning algorithm are found and experimentally confirmed.

Automatic Control System of Asphalt Concrete Milling Process Based on Road Milling Machines

Mechanical impact on the upper layers of the road surface with the removal of damaged sections of asphalt concrete surfaces is carried out by specialized Road-Building Machines (RBM) - (cold planer). The capabilities (technical resources) of such RBM have not been fully used. Under these circumstances, a promising area of scientific research is the development and implementation of automatic cold milling process control systems with further improvement of their main functional units and mechanisms. In the article, for the first time, Road Milling Machines (RMM) are represented by a set of interconnected controlled systems, united by the ultimate goal - the removal of asphalt concrete pavement layers corresponding to the thickness of the damaged areas with the further formation of a new pavement, which made it possible to apply the principles of automatic control to the process of milling asphalt concrete pavement by road milling machines.

Research on Ideological and Political Education Based on the Course of Mechanical Control Theory

Expanding the plate mill product range implies the improvement of control algorithms for the mechatronics control system drives of the reversing stands. The most important objectives include increasing the accuracy of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, as well as improving the profile and surface flatness of rolled pro­ducts. The structure explaining the automatic ROLL-GAP CONTROL concept is provided, which allows controlling the thickness and gap between SMS-Demag AG rolls. This concept is implemented in the '5000' mill stand of Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works. The structural diagram of the automatic gauge control system (AGS) is presented. The functional diagram of the hydraulic gap control (HGC) system is presented, which includes a fast proportional control channel and a relatively slow integral position control channel. The principle of automatic thickness control is discussed, implemented in the automatic gauge control (AGC) system of the mill stand TCS controller. The diagram and dependences are prepared for the calculation of the nonlinear thickness controller parameters. The functions of the RAC regulator are described, intended for compensation of the tensile difference (gap spacing) at the mill stand sides. The dynamic impact compensation system functions are considered. The removal of the roll bending and deformation control signals is substantiated. The disadvantages of AGC are noted for sheets with a thickness below 10 mm. The most dangerous case is the tearing of metal fragments from the rear sheet side caused by the incorrect operation of the gauge control system. A method for hydraulic gap control is proposed based on the fast increase of the roll gap in the rear part of the rolled sheet during the last passage when rolling thin sheets. The results of experimental studies made on the '5000' mill are presented. The efficiency of the proposed control method has been confirmed. The oscillograms of signals are presented characterizing thickness variations. HGC and AGC systems with the proposed adjustments are proven to provide high-accuracy hydraulic position control and thickness control along the sheet length and width.
