Characterization of primary small intestinal lymphoma: a retrospective study based on double balloon endoscopy

BackgroundThe diagnosis of primary small intestinal lymphoma (PSIL) is difficult. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical, radiological and endoscopic characteristics of PSIL and provide clue for diagnosis.MethodsA total of 30 patients diagnosed with PSIL who underwent double balloon endoscopy (DBE) in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical, radiological and endoscopic data were collected. Univariate analysis was used to determine significant indicators for differentiating three main subtypes of PSIL. Cox regression analysis was performed to assess the risk factors for survival.ResultsIn this study, 10 patients were pathologically diagnosed as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), 11 were indolent B-cell lymphoma (BCL) and 9 were T-cell lymphoma (TCL). Compared with DLBCL patients, the body mass index (BMI) of TCL patients was significantly lower (p = 0.004). Meanwhile, compared with patients with DLBCL, the patients with indolent BCL had lower levels of C-reactive protein, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), fibrinogen and D-Dimer (p = 0.004, p = 0.004, p = 0.006, and p = 0.002, respectively), and lower proportion of thicker intestinal wall and aneurysmal dilation in CT scan (p = 0.003 and p = 0.020, respectively). In terms of ulcer morphology, patients with DLBCL had significantly higher proportion of deep ulcers than patients with indolent BCL (p = 0.020, respectively). Cox regression analysis showed that drink (p = 0.034), concomitant colonic ulcers (p = 0.034) and elevated LDH (p = 0.043) are risk factors for mortality in patients with PSIL.ConclusionsThis study provides clinical characteristics of patients with PSIL. Thicker intestinal wall and aneurismal dilation detected on CT scan and deeper ulcer on DBE examination helps to establish a diagnosis of DLBCL.

Automated classification of ulcerative lesions in small intestine using densenet with channel attention and residual dilated blocks

Objective. Ulceration of the small intestine, which has a high incidence, includes Crohn’s disease (CD), intestinal tuberculosis (ITB), primary small intestinal lymphoma (PSIL), cryptogenic multifocal ulcerous stenosing enteritis (CMUSE), and non-specific ulcer (NSU). However, the ulceration morphology can easily be misdiagnosed through enteroscopy. Approach. In this study, DRCA-DenseNet169, which is based on DenseNet169, with residual dilated blocks and a channel attention block, is proposed to identify CD, ITB, PSIL, CMUSE, and NSU intelligently. In addition, a novel loss function that incorporates dynamic weights is designed to enhance the precision of imbalanced datasets with limited samples. DRCA-Densenet169 was evaluated using 10883 enteroscopy images, including 5375 ulcer images and 5508 normal images, which were obtained from the Shanghai Changhai Hospital. Main results. DRCA-Densenet169 achieved an overall accuracy of 85.27% ± 0.32%, a weighted-precision of 83.99% ± 2.47%, a weighted-recall of 84.36% ± 0.88% and a weighted-F1-score of 84.07% ± 2.14%. Significance. The results demonstrate that DRCA-Densenet169 has high recognition accuracy and strong robustness in identifying different types of ulcers when obtaining immediate and preliminary diagnoses.

Clinical and endoscopic features of primary small bowel lymphoma: a single-center experience from mainland China.

The worldwide incidence of primary small intestinal lymphoma (PSIL) is increasing. However, little is known about the clinical and endoscopic characteristics of this disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and endoscopic data of patients with PSIL, with the goal of enhancing our understanding of the disease, improving diagnostic accuracy, and facilitating more accurate prognosis estimation. Ninety-four patients diagnosed with PSIL were retrospectively studied at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University between 2012 and 2021. The clinical data, enteroscopy findings, treatment modalities, and survival times were collected and analyzed. Ninety-four patients (52 males) with PSIL were included in this study. The median age of onset was 58.5 years (range: 19-80 years). Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (n=37) was the most common pathological type. Abdominal pain (n=59) was the most frequent clinical presentation. The ileocecal region (n=32) was the most commonly affected site, and 11.7% of patients had multiple lesions. At the time of diagnosis, the majority of patients (n=68) were in stages I-II. A new endoscopic classification of PSIL was developed, including hypertrophic type, exophytic type, follicular/polypoid type, ulcerative type, and diffusion type. Surgery did not show a significant increase in overall survival; chemotherapy was the most commonly administered treatment. T-cell lymphoma, stages III-IV, "B" symptoms, and ulcerative type were associated with poor prognosis. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the clinical and endoscopic features of PSIL in 94 patients. This highlights the importance of considering clinical and endoscopic characteristics for accurate diagnosis and prognosis estimation during small bowel enteroscopy. Early detection and treatment of PSIL is associated with a favorable prognosis. Our findings also suggest that certain risk factors, such as pathological type, "B" symptoms, and endoscopic type, may affect the survival of PSIL patients. These results underscore the need for careful consideration of these factors in the diagnosis and treatment of PSIL.

Adult Burkitt's lymphoma presenting as ileocecal intussusception

Most lymphomas of gastrointestinal tract arise mainly in stomach but can affect small bowel. Burkitt’s lymphoma stands for 9% of the cases of primary small intestine lymphoma and clinical presentations may vary. Case report of a 58-years old man presenting an acute abdomen secondary to intestinal obstruction with tomography revealing an ileocecal mass suspicious for intussusception. Surgery was performed and an invaginating mass from ileum-to-cecum lead to a laparoscopic right colectomy. Histopathological analysis established the diagnosis of ileocecal Burkitt’s lymphoma. Post-operative period was uneventful and the patient was referred to oncohematology and started early chemotherapy. Clinical situations of intestinal intussusception or small-bowel masses presenting with obstruction should rise the suspicion for malignancy and the surgeon must be aware of this clinical entity to proceed with an oncologically safe surgery. Intestinal perforation may indicates surgery as it leads to peritoneal tumor spread and indicates a worse prognosis. Laparoscopic surgery approaches must be seriously considered in selected cases. In intestinal lymphoma, early refer to oncohematology for evaluation and treatment is essential and establishes a better prognosis.

Clinical Features Analysis and Survival Nomogram of Primary Small Intestinal Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

PurposeThis study aimed to analyze the clinical features and survival of primary small intestinal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (PsI-DLBCL), and establish and independently validate a prognostic nomogram for individual risk prediction.Patients and methodsData for 24 patients from the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University were used as an independent validation cohort, data for 1144 patients with PsI-DLBCL from the SEER database were randomly assigned to training (N=817) and internal validation (N=327) sets. The survival nomogram was constructed with the most significant factors associated with OS using Univariate and multivariate analyses on the training set. Decision curve analysis (DCA) was conducted. Internal validation was SEER validation set. Our cancer center cohort was used as an external validation set to further verify the survival nomogram.ResultsFive clinicopathological feature factors associated with OS of the training set yielded (age, marital status, Ann Arbor stage, surgery for primary site and chemotherapy), which were used to create a survival nomogram. Additionally, the calibration curves of the prognostic nomogram revealed good agreement between the predicted survival probabilities and the ground truth values. The stability of our survival nomogram was explained by internal and external validation data.ConclusionOur nomogram proposes the clinical and therapeutic factors affecting OS for patients with PsI-DLBCL. It shows that chemotherapy and surgery are beneficial to patients in the choice of treatment options. These results suggest that a survival nomogram may be better at predicting OS for PsI-DLBCL patients.

Primary Small Intestinal Lymphoma: A Rare Case Report of Large B Cell Lymphoma Presentation as Intestinal Obstruction

Primary Gastrointestinal Lymphoma (PGIL) is the commonest Extranodal Lymphoma (ENL), which accounts for 30%-40%. It is important to understand them and keep them in mind in differential diagnosis in daily clinical practice. Men are more frequently affected than are women. The clinical presentation of gastrointestinal lymphoma is frequently associated with pain, masses, perforations and obstructions. We are reporting the case of a young woman with intestinal obstruction diagnosed as Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL).

Clinical diagnosis and treatment of primary small intestinal lymphoma

Objective: To report experiences in the diagnosis and treatment of primary lymphoma of the small intestine (PSIL). Method: The clinical data of 15 patients with PSIL treated from January 2015 to July 2019 at Guangzhou First People’s Hospital were investigated retrospectively. Among the 15 patients, 9 were male, and 6 were female, with ages ranging from 18 to 73 years, with a median age of 51.6 years. Data relating to gender, age, clinical manifestation, laboratory examination, imaging, diagnosis, and treatment of the patients were reviewed. Results: The most common clinical manifestations were abdominal pain, abdominal lump, bowel obstruction, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and athrepsy. Serum tumor markers were checked and found to be normal. In all 15 cases, tumors were found by spiral computed tomography (CT), and 12 cases were diagnosed as PSIL. Eleven cases were given barium meal examinations, and positive results were found in 4 cases, with only 1 case considered to be PSIL. All 15 patients underwent surgery. All patients were diagnosed as having nonHodgkin lymphoma by postoperative pathology (8 patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, 5 with mucosa associated lymphoid tissue type B-cell lymphoma and 2 with enteropathy-type intestinal T-cell lymphoma). There were no cases of perioperative deaths. Ten patients received adjuvant chemotherapy with the CHOP (cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, vincristine, and prednisone) regimen after the operation. Fourteen cases were followed up for a mean duration of 30 months (range of 6-52 months). The 1- and 3-year survival rates were 85.7% and 57.1%, respectively. Conclusions: PSIL has no specific clinical manifestations. The diagnostic rate with barium study is low, whereas spiral CT is a promising diagnostic method for PSIL. Surgery combined with chemotherapy is important for the treatment of PSIL

Potential MR Enterography Features to Differentiate Primary Small Intestinal Lymphoma From Crohn Disease.

OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to assess the MR enterographic features of primary small intestinal lymphoma (PSIL) and compare them with active Crohn disease (CD) presenting with severe (≥ 10 mm) mural thickening of the small bowel. MATERIALS AND METHODS. This retrospective study included 15 patients with pathologically proven PSIL and 15 patients with active inflammatory CD with severe mural thickening. Various morphologic, enhancement, and diffusion parameters were compared between the two groups at MR enterography. The ratios of the upstream to involved luminal diameter and mural thickness to luminal diameter in the involved segment were calculated. An attempt was made to define a predictive model (morphologic score) for discriminating PSIL from CD with severe mural thickening. RESULTS. Patients with PSIL were more likely than those with CD to have unifocal disease (66.7% vs 20.0%, p = 0.025), circumferential involvement (86.7% vs 26.7%, p < 0.001), luminal dilatation (60.0% vs 7.0%, p = 0.005), and an attenuated fold pattern (53.3% vs none, p < 0.001). They were less likely to have serosal surface involvement (40.0% vs 100%, p = 0.001) and mesenteric fat infiltration (33.3% vs 100%, p < 0.001). Median upstream to involved luminal diameter ratio (1.5 vs 9.6, p < 0.001) and mural thickness to involved luminal diameter ratio (1.1 vs 4.3, p = 0.044) were significantly lower in patients with PSIL than in those with CD with severe mural thickening. No significant difference was observed in enhancement and diffusion measures. Morphologic score was based on the presence of luminal dilatation, unifocal involvement, mesenteric fat infiltration, and luminal stricture, yielding accuracy of 98% for differentiation between PSIL and CD with severe mural thickening. CONCLUSION. Morphologic features seen at MR enterography rather than enhancement or diffusion parameters may be valuable for differentiation of PSIL from active CD with severe mural thickening with significantly lower ratios of upstream to involved luminal diameter and mural thickness to involved luminal diameter in PSIL.

Clinicopathological Features, Treatment Strategy, and Prognosis of Primary Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma of the Duodenum: A SEER Database Analysis.

Objective Primary duodenum lymphoma (PDL) is extremely rare with limited data available in the literature. In this study, we sought to describe clinical features and identify factors affecting survival in patients with PDL using a large population cohort. Methods The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was queried from 1998 to 2015. Results A total of 1060 cases of PDLs were identified. Clinicopathological features as well as survival data of PDLs were analyzed and compared with 10573 primary gastric lymphomas (PGLs) and 3239 primary small intestinal lymphomas (PSILs) from the SEER database. PDL patients were younger in age (60.96 ± 15.205), and the proportion of stage I (53.21%) was higher in Ann Arbor staging. The proportion of PDLs treated by surgery (8.68%) is the lowest among PDLs, PGLs, and PSILs. The DSS of PDLs were significantly better than those of PGLs and PSILs, respectively (10-year survival rate: 21.24% vs. 20.40%, P=0.027; 10-year survival rate: 21.24% vs. 16.79%, P=0.001). Age, gender, Ann Arbor staging, and histological type were regarded as independent prognostic factor for the DSS by multivariate analysis (all P < 0.05). Patients with <65 years, female, stage I, and FL were found to be significantly associated with good DSS. The treatment modality (surgery vs. conservative treatment) was not statistically related to DSS. The proportion of PDL patients who received surgical treatment gradually decreased from 15.60% in period 2 to 5.26% in period 4. Conclusions The clinicopathologic features of duodenal lymphoma were significantly different from those of gastric lymphoma and small intestinal lymphoma. The prognosis of PDLs was significantly better than those of the other two groups, and there was no statistical survival benefit from surgery in PDLs.

Spectral CT Imaging in the Differential Diagnosis of Small Bowel Adenocarcinoma From Primary Small Intestinal Lymphoma

To investigate the value of dual-energy spectral computed tomography (CT) imaging in the differential diagnosis of small bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA) from primary small intestinal lymphoma (PSIL). We retrospectively analyzed the images of 27 SBA cases and 15 PSIL cases. These patients underwent spectral CT imaging in the arterial phase (AP) and venous phase (VP). CT attenuation values of tumors at different energy levels were measured to generate spectral attenuation curve and to calculate curve slope (λHU). Iodine concentration (IC) in tumors at AP and VP were measured and normalized to that of aorta as normalized iodine concentration (NIC). Independent samples t test was used to analyze the spectral CT parameters; Receiver operating characteristic curves were generated to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of each parameter. There were significant differences between SBA and PSIL in IC (2.09 ± 0.71 vs 1.33 ± 0.15 mg/ml), NIC (0.20 ± 0.06 vs 0.13 ± 0.02) and slope (λHU) (2.78 ± 1.06 vs 1.86 ± 0.30) in AP and (1.86 ± 0.68 vs 1.37 ± 0.18 mg/ml for IC; 0.47 ± 0.13 vs 0.33 ± 0.02 for NIC and 2.00 ± 0.56 vs 1.50 ± 0.26 for λHU) in VP (all p < 0.05). For the CT value measurement, there were significant differences between SBA and PSIL in the 40-60keV energy range (p < 0.05), but not in the 70-140keV range (p > 0.05). Using 1.38 mg/ml as a threshold value for iodine concentration at AP, one could obtain the area-under-curve of 0.93 for receiver operating characteristic study and sensitivity of 94% and specificity of 85% for differentiating SBA from PSIL. The sensitivity and specificity values were significantly higher than the respective values of 62% and 60% with the conventional CT numbers at 70keV. Quantitative parameters obtained in spectral CT, especially iodine concentration in AP, provide high accuracy for differentiating SBA from PSIL.

Free perforation of primary small bowel lymphoma in a patient with celiac sprue and dermatitis herpetiformis

Small bowel lymphomas are rare and constitute approximately 1% of the malignant gastrointestinal tumors. However, the risk of malignant disease in adult celiac disease is about 8-10%, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma is the most common. In the literature, cases with celiac disease and small bowel lymphoma have been reported, but the emphasis on emergency surgery is extremely rare. We herein present a case of primary small intestinal lymphoma diagnosed after surgery in a 55-year-old male patient who presented to our emergency department with findings of gastrointestinal perforation and had a history of celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis. The purpose of this report is to review this situation briefly and discuss it in the light of literature.

Primary small bowel lymphoma presenting as invagination.

One of the causes of invagination in adults is primary small bowel lymphoma. Primary small bowel lymphomas are rare, present themselves with complications due to diagnostic difficulties, and are diagnosed only after surgical intervention. In case of invagination, one of the complications of these tumors, namely primary small bowel lymphoma, should also be considered as a cause in the diagnosis. In this paper, the diagnosis and therapy of a rare case of primary polypoid-type small intestinal lymphoma demonstrating findings of obstruction due to invagination have been presented and discussed in the light of the literature.

The role of surgical management in primary small bowel lymphoma: A single-center experience

IntroductionInformation on primary small intestinal lymphoma is more limited than for gastric lymphoma because most of the previous studies did not focus on the former. Few prognostic indicators in primary intestinal lymphoma have been reliably established because of limited patient numbers and variations in criteria for patient selection. In this study, we retrospectively reviewed the clinical and pathological characteristics of small intestinal lymphoma cases from our hospital, to determine prognostic factors and to clarify the effect of surgical resection on prognosis. MethodsEighty-two patients were enrolled in this retrospective study between January 1997 and December 2012. Patients were divided into two groups based on whether or not they underwent surgical management. Gross resection was defined as complete removal of the primary lesion(s), as confirmed by the naked eye. Combined therapy refers to concurrent surgery and chemotherapy. The clinicopathological characteristics and long-term outcomes of patients were analyzed and compared between the two groups. ResultsMost of the patients had abdominal pain (75.6%), and some had loss of body weight (29.3%) and bowel perforation (22.0%). Sixty-two patients (75.6%) underwent surgical management. Patients in the surgery group presented with fewer B symptoms (fever, night sweats, and weight loss; P = 0.035) but more bulky disease (P = 0.009). The ileocecal region was the most common site of solitary involvement (34.1%). The most common reason for surgery was for tumor-related complications (61.3%). Seven patients (11.3%) developed major complications of surgery, but these were not related to the indication, timing, or type of surgery. Only major surgical complications were statistically significant in relation to early mortality (P = 0.004). The estimated 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) was 35.1% and 5-year overall survival (OS) was 43.2%. Univariate analysis revealed that patients in the surgery group had improved 5-year PFS (P = 0.028). T-cell lymphoma, involvement of multiple gastrointestinal regions and extranodal involvement, higher scores for International Prognostic Index (IPI), more advanced Ann Arbor stage, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels above 215 U/L, and management without combined therapy were prognostic for shorter PFS and OS in univariate analyses. Individuals who received R0 resection or gross resection had improved 5-year PFS and OS. Cox regression analysis demonstrated that primary T-cell lymphoma was an independent negative prognostic factor for both OS and PFS. ConclusionCombined therapy is an independent prognostic factor for long-term survival in small intestinal lymphoma. Gross resection is recommended in patients with small intestinal lymphoma and leads to improved PFS without significantly increasing the risk of complications. Emergency surgery does not lead to poor prognosis. However, caution is warranted in the management of all patients, because of the high risk of post-operative complications and potential for early mortality.

Primary small intestinal non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosed after emergency surgery.

The aim of this study was to investigate clinical manifestation, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of patients with primary gastrointestinal non-Hodgkin lymphoma (PGI NHL), whose initial presentation was bowel obstruction or perforation. Data of patients who underwent surgical intervention due to radiological evidence of perforation or intestinal obstruction and were subsequently diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma at Baskent University hospitals between January 2007 and November 2014 were examined retrospectively. Medical records, clinical history, symptoms, pathological reports, and treatment modalities were analyzed. Study population comprised 17 patients (8 male, 9 female) with PGI NHL and mean age of 52±20.2 years. Symptoms reported by the patients were abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and loss of appetite. All 17 patients underwent surgical treatment; 12 also received postoperative chemotherapy. Most common pathological subtype was diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (70.5%). Mean follow-up time was 26 months (range: 1-69 months) and 5-year survival rate was 64.3%. Initial presentation of PGI NHL may be obstruction with or without perforation; clinicians and surgeons should keep this in mind while assessing patient with bowel obstruction, and particularly patient in fifth decade of life.

Primary small intestinal lymphoma: a clinical analysis of 68 cases

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics,treatment,prognostic factors of primary small intestinal lymphoma (PSIL).Methods The clinical data of 68 patients with PSIL who were admitted to the Cancer Hospital of Tianjin Medical University from November 1999 to July 2009 were retrospectively analyzed.The diagnostic workup before operation included abdominal ultrasound,computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen,small intestinal barium radiography,endoscopy examination and laboratory examination.The patients with local PSIL underwent radical surgery,patients who were not eligible for radical surgery received palliative treatment,and then accurate staging was done according to Ann-Arbor system for gastrointestinal lymphoma,and chemotherapy was applied according to the condition of patients.The patients were followed up by letters,telephone and outpatient care till July 2012.Factors might have influence on the prognosis were analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank test.COX regression model were used for univariate and multivariate analysis,respectively.Results The major symptoms of PSIL included abdominal pain (69.1％,47/68) and weight loss (29.4％,20/68).All of the 68 patients underwent small intestinal barium radiography and endoscopy examination,and 15 and 11 cases were definitely diagnosed as with PSIL.Abdominal mass were detected by abdominal ultrasound in 38 of 45 cases.Positive results were found in 30 cases by CT and 5 cases by positron emission tomography (PET)-CT.PSIL mainly involved ileum (73.5％,50/68),13 PSILs were located at the jejunum and 5 at the duodenum.Of all the 68 patients,64 were with B-cell subtype PSIL and 4 were with T-cell subtype PSIL.Most tumors belonged to stages Ⅰ and Ⅱ (66.2％,45/68).All of the 68 patients were treated with surgical procedure,including 51 patients received radical resection and 17 patients had palliative resection.After operation,4-8 cycles of chemotherapy were applied in 57 patients.Seven patients received COP regimen,50 received CHOP regimen (10 patients with positive expression of CD20 received R-CHOP regimen simutaneously),the remaining 11 patients did not receive chemotherapy.Sixty-four patients were followed up,and the follow-up rate was 94.1％ (64/68).The median follow-up time was 40 months (range,3-132 months).The median survival time was 40.5 months.The 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates were 78.1％,62.2％ and 59.7％,respectively.The prognosis of patients with B-cell subtype PSIL,in stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ and received operation + chemotherapy was superior to those who were with T-cell subtype PSIL,in stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ and received operation (x2=22.459,45.535,15.782,P ＜ 0.05).The results of univariate analysis showed that level of LDH,pathological subtype,clinical stage,presence of systemic symptom,treatment modality,radical surgery and lymphatic metastasis were risk factors for prognosis (x2=7.245,22.459,45.535,5.796,15.782,45.926,9.214,P ＜ 0.05).The results of multivariate analysis revealed B cell phenotype,stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ and surgery + chemotherapy were independent prognostic factors for survival (RR =7.133,5.304,0.256,95％ CI:1.634-31.130,1.498-18.781,0.095-0.691,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The major symptoms of PISL include abdominal pain and weight loss.Definite diagnosis of PSIL depends on endoscopy and imaging examination.PSIL mainly involves ileum.Surgery based treatment is the preferred option,and the combined treatment of rituximab with chemotherapy may improve the survival.B-cell phenotype,early clinical stage (Ⅰ-Ⅱ) and surgical resection plus chemotherapy are independent prognostic factors for better survival. Laparoscopic resection of synchronous gastric cancer and primary small intestinal lymphoma: A case report

Synchronous gastric cancer and primary small intestinal lymphoma are extremely rare. A 49-year-old woman was referred to our hospital with a history of upper abdominal pain for two weeks and was diagnosed with synchronous cancer. During hospitalization, the patient underwent laparoscopic distal gastrectomy + resection of bilateral ovaries + partial resection of both small intestine and descending colon. Pathological examination revealed a synchronous cancer consisting of early gastric cancer with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma located in mucosa, with lymph node metastasis (3+/29) (T1N1M0, stage IB); and diffuse large B cell lymphoma of small intestine involving descending colon and bilateral ovaries, with lymph node metastasis (2+/5) (Ann Arbor IIE). The patient recovered well, without any obvious complications and was discharged on post-operative day 7. The patient received six cycles of chemotherapy after operation. She has been doing well with no evidence of recurrence for 13 mo.

A Case of Ileal Mucosa-associated Lymphoid Tissue Lymphoma Accompanied by Luminal Stricture and Arterial Spurting

Primary small intestinal lymphoma is relatively uncommon. Small bowel tumors are difficult to diagnose, because they are usually asymptomatic in the initial phase, and they are not easily detected by traditional methods of investigating the small intestine. This case shows a successfully detected and treated gastrointestinal bleeding from rare ileal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma, using double balloon endoscopy.
