The adaptation process of patients with venous ulcers to treatment with hydrogel: a case study - Preview Note

This is a research project of the Professional Masters Program Nursing Care of the Universidade Federal Fluminense. Whose goals are to identify situations in which patients with venous ulcers have problems adjusting to his new condition and adherence to treatment with the hydrogel, conducting a survey of nursing diagnoses and provide nursing interventions performed before the event of adaptation. Qualitative and descriptive nature of this case study. Using as theoretical framework the theory of adaptation of Callista Roy. The research scenario in the sector will be outpatient Wound Repair. At the University Hospital - RJ. The subjects are 15 patients with venous ulcers using the product - hydrogel in tissue lesions. Data will be collected through a semi-structured questionnaire and analyzed starting from themes based on the theoretical model chosen. Results will be published and disseminated in scientific events.

Applied nursing assistance methodology in the promotion of cardiovascular health of elderly - preview note

Fieldwork with qualitative approach, which uses the group of convergence as a strategy for its development. Objectives: to identify the cardiovascular risk factors of an elderly clientele assisted at the ambulatory of Gerontogeriatry of a School Hospital of the town of Rio de Janeiro; to discuss with the elderly clientele, practices of self care applied in the prevention of complications arising from the most prevalent cardiovascular diseases in the studied environment; to elaborate subsidies for the construction of a model of nursing care that would foment self care in the promotion of cardiovascular health of the above mentioned patients. This research was conducted at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University Hospital São Francisco de Assis. The subjects will be the elderly patients assisted in the ambulatory of that hospital, who will agree to participate in the discussion group. In that study, the collection and data analysis should take place simultaneously, using processes of information gathering, synthesis, theorization and re-contextualization, for information analysis.

Knowledge, attitude and practice of women prisoners on male and female condoms- Preview note

Evaluative nature of this research aims to evaluate the knowledge, attitude and practice of women prisoners on male and female condoms. The interest in developing this research was due to greater prevalence of STI/HIV among people in jail, especially for women prisoners. The study will be developed in a female penitentiary institution of the State of Ceara with a sample of 155 women. Data collection will happen in the period from March to May 2010 and will instrument the investigation Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) on the male and female condom use. For analyses will be used the program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 17.0.

Cost-effectiveness analysis of hydrogel for treatment of wounds - Preview note

The objective of this study is to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of hydrogel for the treatment of chronic wounds. The care for patients with wound is dynamic and must accompany the technical-scientific evolution. Currently the issue of healing of chronic wounds is a daily problem for health workers and the economy of public health. Since the high number of patients with chronic wounds contributes to strain the public spending and also alters the quality of life due to long periods of hospitalization. Although the nursing deal directly with the prevention and treatment of wounds there is still few studies on cost management with the use of technology assessment methodologies. This type of study enables nurses to reflect their importance in decision making at the macro and micro health system.

The working process in health: the case of family Health Strategy of Barra Mansa-RJ, Brazil - preview note

Case study, exploratory and descriptive with qualitative approach in order to characterize the working process in health of Family Health Strategy in Barra Mansa-RJ, Brazil, to reflect about the strategies used for the teams, in their work routine, for approach of the guiding principles of Family Health Strategy and to discuss the technologies used by the teams in the process of work. As nurse of Family Health Strategy of Barra Mansa-RJ, Brazil, in 2009, it was possible to verify that teams still have a difficulty to understand the proposal of this strategy. To investigate the way that the process of work in health is being developed by the multiprofessional team of Family Health Strategy in Barra Mansa-RJ, Brazil and if this process is taking in consideration the principles of this strategy must be interesting for all the professionals of this area. The ethical aspects are respected according to resolution 196/96.

Distance education in undergraduate nursing in the State of Rio de Janeiro: a sociocultural approach of structural markers - Preview note

The present study deals with distance education in undergraduate nursing in Rio de Janeiro, whose general objective is to analyze the experiences in distance learning in undergraduate nursing in light of the sociocultural approach of mediated action. And the specific objectives are to map the experiences of distance education in undergraduate courses in nursing, to identify the educational models included in the proposals for distance learning and discuss the use of it in nursing education, analyzing the structural markers, limits and possibilities. There will be a documentary study of a quantitative and qualitative, grounded on the Institute of Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira, will be located where the higher education institutions that have degree in nursing accreditation in distance mode.

Stress and coping strategies in the presence of breast cancer - Preview Note

Descriptive-exploratory study with a quantitative approach whose aim is to verify the occurrence of stress and the use of coping strategies in the daily of women with breast cancer. It will be realized in the outpatient mastology of School Maternity Assis Chateaubriand, located in Ceará with a sample of 145 women. The data collection will happen from June to August 2010 and it will be used like instruments a interview guide about the study’s women characteristics and the disease’s history, the Stress Symptoms Inventory for Adults Lipp (ISSL) and the Ways of Coping Scale (WCS). The verification of relation statistics among the variables studied will be made with the program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 17.0.

The communication as base of interpersonal relationship nurse-patient in the care in unit of ready attendance- preview note

One is about a dissertacao project of the Academic Master in Sciences of the Health in Care of the Fluminense Federal University, whose objective is to analyze the interpersonal relationship established between nurse and patient in the care of nursing. It is a study of descriptive character with qualitative boarding to be carried through in the Unit of Ready Attendance 24h, pertaining to the Secretarial of Health and Civil Defense of the State of Rio de Janeiro, located in the city Belford Roxo. The subject will be the military nurses who work in this unit. It is intended to bring contributions for the assistance of nursing by means of the sensitization of the professionals on the importance of the interpersonal relations as base for the care in nursing.

Nursing diagnosis intolerance to the activity and inefficient cardiopulmonary perfusion tissue: evaluation in patients undergoing gene therapy - preview note

Objective: to evaluate and compare the frequency of nursing diagnosis activity intolerance and ineffective tissue cardiopulmonary perfusion in advanced ischemic heart disease patients before and after gene therapy for myocardial revascularization. Methods: cohort study, in which 20 patients developed ischemic heart disease treated with gene therapy are undergoing clinical evaluation of two nurses with experience of minimum three years in cardiology, to identify the presence or absence of the nursing diagnosis activity intolerance and ineffective tissue cardiopulmonary perfusion. These evaluations will be done before gene therapy and three and six months afterwards. The data will be tabulated for later analysis of absolute and relative frequency as well as comparison between the three moments. Will be used for the coefficient of Kappa analysis of agreement between the assessments of nursing. To compare the dichotomous variables will be used for the Cochran Q-test and for ordinal variables will be used the Friedman test. Protocol for nursing in the prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia: comparison of effects - preview note

Experimental study of quantitative approach. This is a research project of Professional Master in Nursing Program, School of Nursing, Federal Fluminense University; aims to carry out the assessment of a care protocol for prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia and gradation of risk for clients ventilated. The scenario of the research will be a large hospital, the private network in Niteroi County, RJ - Brazil, includes the use of the use of study in the experimental group and a control group (which will be assessed retrospectively through analysis of medical records). The actors will be the study of patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the scenario, regardless of sex, age or risk group.

Technological assessment of the economic cost effectiveness in the application of stem cells in pseudarthrosis: an analysis of the technology in the care - preview note

The aim of this research is to analyze the economic evaluation steps of a Health Care process in order to estimate cost-effectiveness of Cellular Therapy in patients with pseudarthrosis and its implementation for the Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS (Unique Health System) in order to propose improvements for the procedure. Given the chaotic scene that the Public Health in Brazil is passing through, technological assessment becomes the best way to expend the financial resources that are progressively more scant. It is not enough to know the benefits of the use of a technology, it is necessary to plan and assure that financial resources allotted to public health be used without detriment of equality, universal principles and integrity of SUS. The nursing professional must be interested in caring out and participating in researches in this area, in a universe of interdisciplinary performance, still little explored.

The maternity philosophy of the University Hospital at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil from the perspective of its users, professionals, and academics: preview note

This study is a quantitative investigation of an exploratory-descriptive nature. Its objective is to evaluate the implementation of the maternity philosophy in a university hospital, under the perspective of its professionals, academics, and users. The data are being collected by self-responding forms, applied among the professionals and with nursing and medical students, as well as through interviews with the pregnant women and their partners. The information obtained is being organized by the EPI INFO program. In the current stage of the research, the data referring to 80 nursing professionals have already been obtained and analyzed, showing that for these subjects the principles which guide maternity care are amply known, with the most valued being related to integral care to its users.

The conflict in the nurse managing exercise in hospital context - preview note

This work is the result of a masters dissertation project developed in Post-Graduation Program in Nursing from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). It has the objective to analyze the conception of conflict in nurses’ management exercise in hospital context, as well as to infer the strategies used by them to solve such conflicts. Based on it, one aimed to attempt to the variation assumed by this phenomenon in the range of nurse management exercise in the universe of a hospital type health organization. The semi-structured interview and the focal group, with the identification of the participants, will be used as the collection instruments according to the Resolution 196/96. Based on data recurrence, that will be interpreted using the content analysis technique, one intend to discuss how the conflict has been managed by the nurses and what is the understanding they have about this phenomenon which directly affects their actions even when they deny it.

Nursing care managerial strategies in coronary care unit: evaluation of three public university hospitals in Rio de Janeiro - preview note

The research refers to a Master’s Dissertation Project developed in the Nursing Post Graduation Program in Anna Nery School of Nursing / UFRJ. Objectives: to identify managerial strategies used by nurse leaders in the Coronary Care Unit in public university hospitals; to describe the nursing care management carried out by nurse leaders in the Coronary Care Units at public university hospitals; and to analyze the managerial strategies developed by nurse leaders in the nursing care management in the Coronary Care Unit at public university hospitals. This is a multiple case study, with a qualitative approach. The subjects will be the nurses who work in three public university hospitals in Rio de Janeiro and who provide direct care to patients from Coronary Care Units: Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital (HUCFF), Pedro Ernesto University Hospital (HUPE) and Antonio Pedro University Hospital (HUAP). Data collection will be made with the help of semi-structured interviews, and direct and informal observation of the subjects, complying with the precepts established from Resolution number 196/96. The conclusion of the stage of this methodology will be determined by the data saturation criterion. Data will be grouped, classified and evaluated through categories.

The everyday of users in psychosocial attention center from the perspective of the phenomenological sociology - preview note

Introduction: This investigation is focused on the everyday of users in a Psychosocial Attention Center (CAPS) which is a service that substitutes the asylum model. The basis of these services emphasizes the assistance of people in psychic suffering and their psychosocial rehabilitation. The CAPS are important services to insert people to the social life, n activities such as culture, work, health and entertainment ones. Objective: Understanding the comprehension of the everyday of users in a Psychosocial Attention Center from the perspective of the phenomenological sociology of Alfred Schutz. Methodology: The study follows a qualitative and phenomenological approach. After the approval of the ethics committee, we started interviewing the users of CAPS, in Porto Alegre city, Rio Grande do Sul State, and our main question was ;what do you do during your routine?; Results: After performing 13 interviews during April and June of 2008, we intend to analyze the responses in order to comprehend the everyday of users, providing a relation between the everyday life to the social world and social relations of Alfred Schutz. Conclusion: The analysis of the collected data will be realized in a further moment using as support the phenomenological sociology of Alfred Schutz, however, we must affirm that this research is highly important, because it may help the mental health team understanding the users' everyday, including the aspects related to the activities that are being performed and verifying the CAPS’s contribution to the psychosocial rehabilitation.

Coping to Cardiac Surgery - preview note

It is a research project that has been developed at Santa Maria University Hospital (HUSM), aiming to identify the coping strategies that patients use when referred for Cardiac Surgery. The data will be collected in the cardiac pre-surgery period through a questionnaire, intending to characterize the participants; besides using the Coping Inventory instrument – Jalowiec – to identify the coping styles that the participants use against the stressors confront. From the coping process identification of the patients who were referred for cardiac surgery, it will be possible to analyze and base the professionals’ actions who deal with these patients, aiming to attend the emotional and physiological adaptation demands to the surgical process.

Stress and coping of nursing team in the breast cancer woman care - preview note

This study has as aim identifies the pointed estressores for the nursing team of the Tocoginecological Unit in the patients' care with breast cancer, as well as knowing the strategies of coping more used by them. It is a descriptive research, of field and with quantitative approach to be developed at University Hospital in the center of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Two instruments will be used: Form for the rising of the adapted of Bianchi daily activities (1999) and Inventory of coping of Jalowiec (1987). The data statistically will be analyzed and the results will allow proposing intervention programs that seek to the quality of those professionals' life in the work.

Low weight baby's feeding cultural practices and family's contribution for the nursing care in the domiciliary space: preview note

In the infantile population group, the baby that was born of low weight presents peculiarities and own nutritional demands to promote the well - being and growth and healthy development. In that way, they need restricted monitoring of health, for having larger possibility to present metabolic disturbances, difficulties to control his/her temperature and to feed, facts those that expose them to larger falling sick ill risk. The study objectives are: to reveal the familiar group´ s care practices of the low weight baby in the feeding management, to analyze the articulations manners of those practices with the relatives' decision in these babies' feeding and to interpret those practices and those manners of articulations in the light of the family knowledge. The chosen method for the development of this study will be the Creative Sensitive. The collection of data will be realized in the child's house near to his/her responsible and family. For the results analysis we will make a data mapping obtained in the field works, (tapes transcription, re - reading of the material, reports and data organization of the participant observations) characterizing like this the stage of the data ordination. Afterwards the pre-analysis of the data obtained in the groups to verify which the empiric material that was produced. This pre-analysis will orientate the researcher in the choice of the analytical method in the field of the discourse analysis. The results will be interpreted by the light of the theoretical reference of Vygostsky, Geertz and of the concept of Health Promotion.

Nurse taking care and teaching to the family of the client with gastrostomy in home scene . Preview note

The client that suffered a gastrostomy needs the full attention of a stomaterapist nurse. This support starts with the feeding tube installation and should be followed in homecare attention by motivating the family to take part of this process, giving them the necessary support, teaching how to manage the feeding tube, how to handle it in the process of feeding the client and also the physical and emotional care required in order to prevent difficulties and contributing effectively to the health promotion, maintenance and rehabilitation of the client in the family scenario. The aim of this work is to know the new possibilities of innovation in the nurse’s practice and teaching when attending the gastrostomy client’s family, identifying the needs of the family in this kind of care in the family scenario and elaborating a homecare program to the family of a gastrostomy client. It is a qualitative research which will count with: a selection of clients submitted to gastrostomy in the Video-Endo Clinic; home visits evaluations by participative observation of the family scenario conditions to attend the clients´s needs; orientations with practical demonstrations of care actions with the client in nutritional support by gastrostomy, thorough the identification of the family’s needs concerned the client care, by analyzing the interviews and observation, and the elaboration of a homecare program for these
