Improvement of mechanical properties of highly ZnO‐filled polyethylene composites by dual‐compatibilizer for hydrogen sulfide permeation inhibition

AbstractTransportation of acidic fluids containing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) by flexible reinforced thermoplastic pipes can cause safety problems due to diffusion of H2S in the pipe. Herein, high‐density polyethylene (HDPE) composites are prepared with a large amount of zinc oxide (ZnO) particles as absorbent fillers by melt‐mixing via introducing maleic anhydride‐grafted polyethylene (PE‐g‐MAH) and maleic anhydride‐grafted poly(ethylene‐co‐octene) (POE‐g‐MAH) as dual‐compatibilizer. By controlling the mass ratio of the two compatibilizers, ZnO particles can be encapsulated by PE‐g‐MAH and POE‐g‐MAH so that mechanical properties of the prepared HDPE/ZnO composites are improved owing to enhanced compatibility between the filler and the resin. By adding PE‐g‐MAH and POE‐g‐MAH with total 10 wt% in a mass ratio of 1/3, the HDPE/ZnO composite containing 50 wt% ZnO exhibits 37.3 ± 3.8 MPa of yield strength, 576 ± 16 MPa of flexural modulus, and 84.4 ± 1.4 kJ m−2 of notched Izod impact strength corrected to 311 ± 24.9 kJ m−2. After exposure in H2S at 0.1 MPa for 7 days, the diffusion distance of H2S in the composite is 659 ± 17 μm, demonstrating a high barrier ability on H2S via absorption. This study provides a feasible method for preparation of polymer composites with suitable mechanical properties for inhibiting H2S permeation in reinforced thermoplastic pipes.

A one step method to prepare polymer‐based flexible wires by continuous spatial‐confining network assembly technique

AbstractIn recent years, flexible electronics technology has been developing rapidly, and flexible electronic devices have been widely used in wearable gadgets and robotics. Flexible wires are the basic components of these devices, which usually consist of metallic materials with flexibility and ductility. However, the introduction of flexible conductive materials has broadened the application scope of flexible wires. In this paper, PDMS/SCF conductive composites exhibiting different conductivity properties on both sides are fabricated by adding meshes based on the continuous spatial‐confining network assembly method. The conductivity of PDMS/SCF (6 wt%) composites can be exhibited as 173.45 S/m in the conductive layer and 6.25 × 10−11 S/m in the insulating layer, which can be used as core and surface layers of conductors, respectively. A mathematical model is also developed to predict the electrical conductivity of the PDMS/SCF conductive composites, and the experimental data are in good agreement with the predicted results. This work provides a method for the continuous preparation of multifunctional composites that can be molded in one step with conductive layer and insulating layer, which can be used as the core and insulating layers of wires, thus simplifying the preparation process of composite‐based wires and expanding the range of conductive composites applications.

Copper Sulfide and Graphite Felt Composites as Promising Electrode Materials for Sodium-Ion Batteries.

The most prominent and widely used electrical energy storage devices are lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which in recent years have become costly and deficient. Consequently, new energy storage devices must be introduced into the current market. Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are starting to emerge as a promising solution because of sodium's abundance and low cost. To offer these batteries into the current market, their properties must match surpass those of LIB predecessors, necessitating the need for research in this field. In this research work, three methods of graphite felt (GF) and copper sulfide (CuxS) composite preparation using a hydrothermal approach have been explored and compared. The obtained samples exhibited different morphologies and thermal properties when different hydrothermal composite preparation methods were used. The areal charge capacitance values of these samples differed from 8.81 to 13.65 mF/cm2, and the areal discharge capacitance values differed from 10.06 to 13.65 mF/cm2. Notably, these achieved values are higher than those of the CuxS and GF single substances.

In Situ polymerized polyetherimide/Al2O3 nanocomposites with significantly improved capacitive energy storage performance at high temperatures

High-temperature polymer nanocomposites with high energy storage density (Ue) are promising dielectrics for capacitors used in electric vehicles, aerospace, etc. However, filler agglomeration and interface defects at high filler loadings significantly limit the enhancement of Ue and hamper the large-scale production of the nanocomposites. Here, polyetherimide (PEI) nanocomposites with nanoscale alumina (AO) at ultra-low contents were prepared via in situ polymerization from PEI monomers. We compared two composite dielectric preparation methods (in situ polymerization and ordinary solution blending) under the same conditions. In contrast to the nanocomposites obtained by blending PEI polymers with AO, the in situ nanocomposites exhibit substantially improved filler dispersion, together with largely suppressed conduction loss at high fields and high temperatures, leading to comprehensive enhancements of breakdown strength (Eb), charge-discharge efficiency (η) and Ue, simultaneously. The 0.3%(in volume) AO filled PEI nanocomposite film exhibits a superior Ue of 4.8 J/cm3 with η of 90% at 150 °C, which is 128% and 218% higher than those of pristine PEI and the ex situ PEI/AO nanocomposite film under the same conditions, respectively. This work provides a scalable strategy for the preparation of dielectrics with both good processability and excellent high-temperature energy storage performance.

Preparation of multifunctional protective coating on alloy surface by laser-electrodeposition additive-subtractive hybrid manufacturing

The preparation of multi-protective coatings is of great significance for improving the surface performance and prolonging the service life of parts. Here, a composite preparation method combining subtractive and additive manufacturing has been proposed to manufacture durable coatings with multiple protective capabilities. A special surface composed of a micro-nano structure and a zinc nickel composite coating was prepared through the clever combination of laser surface texturing technology and electrodeposition technology. The microstructure, surface chemical composition, and various protective properties of the prepared micro-nano structure and protective coating were mainly explored. Based on the experiment results, the Zn-Ni alloy coating successfully covered the aluminum alloy substrate. For the prepared superhydrophobic surface, the water drops contact angle was 151.5° while the sliding angle was 9°. The prepared surface exhibited excellent characteristics in reducing adhesion, mirror effect, water jet reflection, self-cleaning, anti-icing, corrosion prevention, and wear resistance. This study had positive significance in promoting the widespread application of metal based protective surfaces in the industrial field.

Low-temperature compositing of graphene to nanodiamonds by thermal reduction of graphene oxide and photocatalytic properties

Graphene has become a research hotspot in the field of composites due to its special structure and excellent properties The common preparation methods of graphene matrix composites include solvent (hydrothermal) method, sol-gel method, chemical reduction method, electrochemical deposition method, etc. Nanodiamond/reduced graphite oxide (rGO) composites are directly synthesized by low-temperature heat treatment with nanodiamonds and graphite oxide (GO) powders as raw materials with the aid of GO thermal reduction at 195 °C. The degradation ability of samples to methylene blue (MB) under simulated sunlight was tested. Results indicated that GO was thermally reduced to graphene at low temperature, and rGO well combined with diamond. After the introduction of GO, the lattice of nanodiamond underwent distortion. Diamond and graphene formed a quasi-core–shell structure, and the interface between them was well bonded. The composite had a large specific surface area (Brunauer–Emmett–Teller value of 93.13 m2/g). The addition of GO enhanced the absorbance of the samples and reduced the bandgap of nanodiamond. When the ratio of nanodiamond to GO was 6:1, the sample exhibited excellent sunlight photocatalytic activity, and MB degradation rate reached 99.8 % within 40 min. The reduction reaction of GO at low temperature promoted its rapid combination with nanodiamonds. This method had the outstanding advantages of simple process, environment friendliness, and easy mass production.

Preparation and properties of oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotube superhydrophobic composites modified by bio-fatty acids

In this paper, a preparation method of superhydrophobic composites of oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified by stearic acid (SA) is proposed. Hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (HMWCNTs) were obtained by oxidizing multi-walled carbon nanotubes with potassium dichromate to give them hydroxyl groups on the surface. Subsequently, the carboxyl group in the SA molecule was esterified with the hydroxyl group on the HMWCNTs. SA molecules were grafted onto the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes. SA modified oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (SMWCNT) superhydrophobic composites were obtained. The results show that the water contact angle (WCA) of superhydrophobic composites can reach up to 174°. At the same time, the modified nanocomposites have good anti-icing and corrosion resistance. After low temperature delayed freezing test, the freezing extension time of the nanocomposite film is 30 times that of the smooth surface. Under strong acid and alkali conditions, the superhydrophobic nanocomposites still maintain good superhydrophobicity. The nanocomposites may have potential applications in the preparation of large-scale superhydrophobic coatings.

Designing Sustainable Ethanol Oxidation Catalysts: The Role of Graphene Oxide in NiCuGO Composite Material

The growing world population with the growth of civilization is causing the demand for electric energy to increase every year. For this reason, new energy sources such as fuel cells are becoming more and more needed, especially when they can use renewable fuel such as ethanol. This simple organic alcohol can be easily produced in a fermentation process using organic waste. Its oxidation might be used as a source for electricity; however, due to the lack of proper electrocatalytic materials, such a solution is not popular. A simple method of NiCuGO composite preparation via electrodeposition from a water-based solution containing graphene oxide suspension is proposed. The activity of the prepared material is proven, with higher current densities observed for the composite powder. The highest peak current density is observed for NiCuGO deposited with a higher current density. The observed ipA of 8.6 mA cm−2 has been higher than that reported by other researchers.

Aramid Fiber Composites for Sporting Equipment: Exploring Preparation Methods and Mechanical Properties

Preparation and Spectroscopic, Thermal, and Mechanical Characterization of Biocomposites of Poly(butylene succinate) and Onion Peels or Durum Wheat Bran.

The utilization of plant based fillers: onion peels (OP) and durum wheat bran (WB) to obtain sustainable biocomposite materials with poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) is presented in this paper. The biocomposites were first obtained in pellet form by extrusion method and then injection moldings were made from the pellets. Two kinds of biocomposites were fabricated containing 15% and 30% wt. of OP or WB. Additionally, pure PBS moldings were prepared for comparative purposes. The effect of the filler type and its amount on the chemical structure, density, thermal, and thermo-mechanical properties of the fabricated composite samples was studied. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy results showed that the composite preparation method had no effect on the chemical structure of composite components, but weak interactions such as hydrogen bonding between OP or WB and PBS was observed. The addition of OP or WB to the composite with PBS reduced its thermal stability in comparison with pure PBS, all studied composites start to degrade below 290 °C. Additionally, the mechanical properties of the composites are worse than PBS, as the impact strength dropped by about 70%. The deterioration of tensile strength was in the range 20-47%, and the elongation at maximum load of the composites was in the range 9.22-3.42%, whereas for pure PBS it was 16.75%. On the other hand, the crystallinity degree increased from 63% for pure PBS to 79% for composite with 30% wt. of WB. The Young's modulus increased to 160% for composition with 30% wt. of OP. Additionally, the hardness of the composites was slightly higher than PBS and was in the range 38.2-48.7 MPa. Despite the reduction in thermal stability and some mechanical properties, the studied composites show promise for everyday object production.

Potential of banana based cellulose materials for advanced applications: A review on properties and technical challenges

Biocompatibility, biodegradability, and toxicity issues of synthetic polymers have propelled the search for environmentally friendly and non-toxic alternatives. In this context, biobased materials have gained much popularity due to their non-toxic, biodegradable, and sustainable nature. Bananas are considered as one of such natural material which fulfil the requirements to be tailored as a biocompatible biopolymer. Banana derived wastes can be used for extraction of commercially important biopolymers like starch, cellulose, nanocellulose and their subsequent utilization in wide variety of applications. Banana derived biopolymers and their bio composites and widely used for medical applications such as wound healing, fabrication of bone plates, cellulose based gate dielectrics, and capacitors for insulin pumps, and pacemakers. In addition, banana based nanocellulose can be used in tissue engineering, biosensing, drug delivery, bioimaging, wound healing, enzyme immobilization and preparation of tablets for oral administration. Moreover, banana-based polymers can be employed in applications such as food packaging, biofuel production, and production of multilayered papers. Considering the potential applications of banana-based nanomaterials, this review work is framed to understand the process of extraction of starch, cellulose, nanocellulose and biopolymers from banana derived wastes with specific emphasis on their extraction methods and composite preparation methods. In addition, it discusses in detail the promising and potential applications of the derived materials in health and environmental sectors. The presented review is a comprehensive discussion on banana-based waste conversion strategies to produce value added products useful in medical and environmental applications.

Novel preparation method and fire performance study of EPS composites based on calcium sulphate hemihydrate

A novel approach was used to prepare a new expanded polystyrene (EPS) composite based on calcium sulphate hemihydrate that significantly improves its fire performance. Negative pressure was applied to open cavities between the EPS beads and promoted the absorption of flame retardant slurry. Three fire retardant EPS (FR-EPS) composites with different densities were obtained. Although, a large number of inorganic additives were added, causing the increase in thermal conductivity to 0.043–0.045 W/(m∙K) and water absorption to 4.7–5.8%, the properties remained within an acceptable range. The results of limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL-94 vertical burning and Cone Calorimeter tests revealed that the FR-EPS1 increased LOI from 18.1% to 35.8%, achieved UL94 V-0 grade, decreased PHRR from 384.12 to 81.39 kW/m2, and reduced PSPR from 0.159 to 0.014 m2/s. With the continued increase of sample density, the measured LOI was further improved, while heat release and smoke production were better suppressed. TG results, and carbon residue after burning indicate that the endothermic dehydration reaction of calcium sulphate dihydrate and the physical barrier effect of the carbonaceous layer contribute to the extraordinary flame retardancy and smoke suppression of the FR-EPS composites.

Impact of composite preparation method on the electrochemical performance of lithium–sulfur batteries

Due to their lower prices, higher energy density, and more environmentally friendly active components, Lithium–Sulfur batteries will soon compete with the current Lithium-ion batteries. However, issues persist that hinder this implementation, such as the poor conductivity of S and sluggish kinetics due to the polysulfide shuttle, among others. The most common strategy to solve these problems is the use of carbon@sulfur (C@S) composites as the cathode of the battery. Composite preparation is a key step for the performance of the electrochemical cell, and yet few studies are focused on this stage. Herein, C@S composites have been prepared following the four most common synthesis methods (melt diffusion; ball milling; dissolution–crystallization; chemical deposition), and in-depth physical-chemical characterization studies and electrochemical analysis have been carried out with these composites in Li–S cells. Properties such as sulfur size, the structural arrangement of the carbon and the type of S infiltration in the matrix have been found to be key parameters in the performance of the composite as a positive electrode in the battery. The comparative analysis shows that the melt diffusion method gives the composite the ideal properties for superior electrochemical performance in tests under different current densities.

Design and Synthesis of NTU-9/C3N4 Photocatalysts: Effects of NTU-9 Content and Composite Preparation Method.

Hybrid materials based on graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and NTU-9 metal-organic frameworks (MOF) were designed and prepared via solvothermal synthesis and calcination in air. The as-prepared photocatalysts were subsequently characterized using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), photoluminescence (PL) emission spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The obtained NTU-9/C3N4 composites showed a greatly improved photocatalytic performance for the degradation of toluene in the gas phase under LED visible-light irradiation (λmax = 415 nm). The physicochemical properties and photocatalytic activities of the obtained NTU-9/C3N4 materials were tuned by varying the NTU-9 content (5-15 wt%) and preparation method of the composite materials. For composites prepared by calcination, the photocatalytic activity increased with decreasing NTU-9 content as a result of the formation of TiO2 from the MOFs. The best photocatalytic performance (65% of toluene was photodegraded after 60 min) was achieved by the NTU-9/C3N4 sample prepared via the solvothermal method and containing 15 wt% MOF, which can be attributed to the appropriate amount and stable combination of composite components, efficient charge separation, and enhanced visible-light absorption ability. The photocatalytic mechanisms of the prepared hybrid materials depending on the preparation method are also discussed.

Effect of the Preparation Methodology of Polydopamine-Containing Systems over Light-to-Thermal Energy Conversion Performance

Polydopamine (PDA) is an attractive material utilized for a wide range of scientific purposes, including light-to-thermal energy conversion, because of presenting plenty of advantages. The proper integration way of PDA into a system is critical to benefit from the PDA content in maximum. Here, the two main PDA-containing composite preparation methods were compared in terms of fundamental material properties and the light-to-thermal energy conversion ability of the final product. For this purpose, the classical emulsion polymerization method first synthesized an aqueous dispersion of polystyrene nanoparticles (PS). PDA was then integrated into the system via two different preparation methods: coating the surfaces of polystyrene nanoparticles with a PDA layer while PS is in a dispersion state (PS@PDA) and adding separately synthesized PDA nanoparticles into the PS dispersion medium (PS–PDA). Two prepared composite systems were fundamentally characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) while in their dispersion state, and by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) while in their solid state, which was obtained after the water evaporated. As the targeted property, the solid forms of these were investigated in terms of light-to-thermal energy conversion performance with solar and laser light exposure under 1 SUN and at 808 nm, respectively. The results showed that the composite system prepared by coating surfaces of PS nanoparticles with the PDA layer had higher light-to-thermal energy conversion under both conditions than those prepared by separately added PDA nanoparticles into the dispersion system. To show one of the possible applications of the prepared composites, in addition to the main target, the solid form of the composite system, which was prepared by coating surfaces of PS nanoparticles with the PDA layer, was also evaluated in detail concerning the latent heat-storage ability with incorporation of PEG 4000 as a phase-change material (PCM) into the system. It was found that the prepared shape-stable phase-change composite with a ratio of 1:3 between PS@PDA and PEG 4000 resulted in a latent heat of 126.9 J/g.

In situ coating of energetic crystals: A compact core-shell structure with highly reduced sensitivity

The weak interfacial interaction and high sensitivity is a longstanding problem for nitramine explosives. Herein, polyhydroxyethyl acrylate nitrate (PANE) was adopted to passivate three nitramine explosives through a facile and efficient in situ polymerization method. The core-shell structure of the PANE-coated composites was confirmed after detailed morphological and structural characterization. As a result, we find that, the hydrophobic PANE shell improved the adhesion work between the explosives and fluoropolymer (F2314) binder because of the enriched interfacial interactions. Besides, 2% PANE can retard the crystal transformation of CL-20 and HMX explosives by 10.7 °C and 4.3 °C, but does not affect the thermal decomposition behavior. The mechanical sensitivity of PANE-coated composites decreased more significantly than raw explosives and the mixed samples. As a typical example, the impact and friction sensitivity of CL-20@PANE composite with 2.0% shell content is practically halved when compared to raw CL-20 with the characteristicheight (H50) of 32.2 cm and the explosionprobability (P) of 50%. This study offers a simple, effective and universal method for design and preparation of energetic composites with high safety performance.

Research advance of lithium-rich cathode materials in all-solid-state lithium batteries

The development of all-solid-state lithium batteries with high energy density, long cycle life, low cost and high safety is one of the important directions for the developing next-generation lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-rich cathode materials have been widely used in liquid lithium batteries for their higher discharge specific capacity (> 250 mAh/g) and energy density (> 900 Wh/kg), high thermal stability and low raw material cost. With the rapid development of high-performance lithium-rich cathode materials and solid-state electrolytes in all-solid-state lithium batteries, the application of lithium-rich cathode materials in all-solid-state lithium batteries is expected to make a breakthrough toward the target of 500 Wh/kg energy density of lithium-ion batteries. In this review, first, we elaborate the failure mechanism of lithium-rich cathode materials in all-solid-state lithium batteries. The poor electronic conductivity, irreversible redox reaction of anionic oxygen and structute transformation during the electrochemical cycling of lithium-rich cathode materials result in the low initial coulomb efficiency, poor cycling stability and voltage decay. In addition, the high operating voltage of lithium-rich cathode materials (> 4.5 V <i>vs</i>. Li/Li<sup>+</sup>) triggers off not only the conventional interfacial chemical reactions between anode and electrolyte, but also the release of oxygen, aggravating the interfacial electrochemical reactions, which reduces the stability of the cathode/electrolyte interface. Therefore, the intrinsic characteristics of lithium-rich cathode materials and the severe interfacial reaction of lithium-rich cathode/electrolyte greatly limit the application of lithium-rich cathode materials in all-solid-state lithium batteries. Then, we review the research progress of lithium-rich cathode materials in various solid-state electrolyte systems in recent years. The higher room temperature ionic conductivity and wider voltage window of inorganic solid-state electrolytes provide opportunities for the application of lithium-rich cathode materials in all-solid-state lithium batteries. At present, the application of lithium-rich cathode materials in all-solid-state lithium batteries is explored on the basis of sulfide, halide and oxide solid-state electrolyte systems, and important progress has been made in the studies of composite cathode preparation methods, interfacial reaction mechanisms and activation mechanisms. Finally, we summarize the current research hotspot of lithium-rich cathode all-solid-state lithium batteries and propose several strategies for their future studies, such as the regulation of cathode material components, the construction of lithium ion and electron transport pathways within the composite cathode, and the interfacial modification of cathode materials that have been shown to have significant effects in solving the failure problem.

Application of UV responsive SiO2/PVP composite hydrogels as intelligent controlled drug release patches

Designing and preparing smart drug release systems are important in the field of medicine. A composite hydrogel preparation method is presented here to address the critical need and provide a practical perspective for local drug release. Photoresponsive silica polyvinylpyrrolidone (SiO2-PVP) composite hydrogels were prepared based on the crosslinking effect of partially hydrolyzed tetraethyloxysilane and the flexibility of PVP to combine the advantage of SiO2 framework with more space and excellent deformation ability of PVP. Thus, the hydrogel prepared under optimized conditions was able to withstand 160% elongation and swell to 600%. In addition, relatively high drug loading and long-term release of ibuprofen for up to 10 h in solution were achieved. The hydrogel could even release drugs through the simulated skin and show a faster release rate under UV light irradiation and a higher surrounding temperature. The smart hydrogels had also been demonstrated to be biocompatible and non-toxic. The unique combination of strong mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and drug release properties may facilitate the application of hydrogels as skin patches.

Preparation of Fluorescent Carbon Dots Composites and Their Potential Applications in Biomedicine and Drug Delivery-A Review.

Carbon dots (CDs), a new member of carbon nanostructures, rely on surface modification and functionalization for their good fluorescence phosphorescence and excellent physical and chemical properties, including small size (<10 nm), high chemical stability, biocompatibility, non-toxicity, low cost, and easy synthesis. In the field of medical research on cancer (IARC), CDs, a new material with unique optical properties as a photosensitizer, are being applied to heating local apoptosis induction of cancer cells. In addition, imaging tools can also be combined with a drug to form the nanometer complex compound, the imaging guidance for multi-function dosage, so as to improve the efficiency of drug delivery, which also plays a big role in genetic diagnosis. This paper mainly includes three parts: The first part briefly introduces the synthesis and preparation of carbon dots, and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of different preparation methods; The second part introduces the preparation methods of carbon dot composites. Finally, the application status of carbon dot composites in biomedicine, cancer theranostics, drug delivery, electrochemistry, and photocatalysis is summarized.

A Critical Review on Hygrothermal and Sound Absorption Behavior of Natural-Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites.

Increasing global environmental problems and awareness towards the utilization of eco-friendly resources enhanced the progress of research towards the development of next-generation biodegradable and environmentally friendly material. The development of natural-based composite material has led to various advantages such as a reduction in greenhouse gases and carbon footprints. In spite of the various advantages obtained from green materials, there are also a few disadvantages, such as poor interfacial compatibility between the polymer matrix and natural reinforcements and the high hydrophilicity of composites due to the reinforcement of hydrophilic natural fibers. This review focuses on various moisture-absorbing and sound-absorbing natural fiber polymer composites along with the synopsis of preparation methods of natural fiber polymer composites. It was stated in various studies that natural fibers are durable with a long life but their moisture absorption behavior depends on various factors. Such natural fibers possess different moisture absorption behavior rates and different moisture absorption behavior. The conversion of hydrophilic fibers into hydrophobic is deemed very important in improving the mechanical, thermal, and physical properties of the natural-fiber-reinforced polymer composites. One more physical property that requires the involvement of natural fibers in place of synthetic fibers is the sound absorption behavior. Various researchers have made experiments using natural-fiber-reinforced polymer composites as sound-absorbing materials. It was found from various studies that composites with higher thickness, porosity, and density behaved as better sound-absorbing materials.
